I really do feel for Aketi. u can see he is such a gentleman and all the dirty politics that was goin on was just not his style. He is "2 clean" and too gentle for our kind of politics in Nigeria. Maybe in 10-20yrs. He is not aggressive enough 2 see election as a battle. He does not av the energy 2 push start issues. He lack the local knowledge 2 support his argument and he was not well equipped wit enough fact 2 say anything meaningful. u just get a feelin that he would spend four years still learning. In all, I suspect he will feel more comfortable after the elections when the contest moves 2 his familiar terrain in the courts Oke! Hmm Oke. I admire this guy bt can't help wonderin if he can walk the walk and not just talk. He is really tainted by the negative image of pdp (especially in the soutwest). As a former nddc commissioner, I expected him 2 av things he can refer 2 that he did for his ppl. I guess nddc is just about waxin ur pocket aka Tim Alaibe style. So its probable that he is all mouth this time around 2. He was also National legal adviser for pdp until recently. Surely that post is lubratic enough 2 invest in ur state/people, particularly as u had governorship ambition. Didn't Agagu (former governor) recently petitioned the CJN, askin for a review of the judgement that brought Mimiko in? Shows PDP in Ondo r not even all united. Mimiko: I was dissapointed that rather dan let his record do the talkin, he was jostlin for comparison wit ppl that av yet 2 smell that coveted seat. On education: its mega primary school- we r workin on the rest. On natural resources: we r still workin on gettin our bitumen permit from FG; On Tourism: We r still developin Idanre hills more; On sports: we r still workin on completin our Awolowo style stadium and Sunshine stars r rePresenting Nigeria. On people development: we pay our civil servant on time and removed cap on promotion (congrats). If after N600BN, u r still workin wit no obvious milestones, then wahala wa o. If a man who knew from dy 1 that he would seek a second term can say this, Imagine what he would do/say when he dsnt need u for anytig in 2016? All I can say he, may God help the people of Ondo in deciding which is better for them cos none is clean cut. I just pray that not 2 much blOod is shed and not 2 much homes r burnt cos I am not naive 2 pray that no blood be shed because there r some prayers God won't assent 2. |
Durin the last debate, I predicted that the race will be between LP and PDP. It appear Mimiko has woken up 2 this same fact, hence his attention this time on Oke. Ondo is expecting war! SSS personnel from all the SW States av been drafted into ondo. This is no doubt in pro-active steps 2 mop up firearms and ammos that av been stacked up by all 3 sides. Its goin 2 be war on the 20th. This is 10days ahead of the election! Unprecedented! Edo elections would be deemed 2 be childs play! God help Ondo people. |
Dats it! Aketi is an embarrassment 2 ACN members. He has yet 2 say anytig meaningful yet. When a candidate starts complainin about who has the last word in a round, then it shows desperation. Still can't believe he was NBA president. Now Mimiko has nailed him by sayin Aketi does not understand geometry! |
@ Seun: Now that u av explained, its easy to reason ur way. Okay, lets av the sticky thread. Pls let us know when (and where ) its up. Kudos for respondin so promptly. It cant be easy. I am happy to volunteer for moderatin if u ever need extra hands. |
Oga Seun, not unless there is another reason unknown to us, the pros for this section outweighs anytig u said. So far, I av questions about the coloration or my banana and plantain trees, my wholenut tree is sheddin leaves and I need advice frm nairalander on solution, my layers are 23weeks and yet to drop. Can u imagine all these issues bein discussed in the food section? Perhaps u av not looked into that section for a while to get the gist of what's discused there. How can u post issues about pesticides and irrigation (like crazyman said) in the food section. These r agric not food issues. Like I said, if the agric section does not generate traffic (which I seriously doubt, given the interest this post alone and the 2009 request generated), then u can always pull the section down. So what would it cost u to listen to the callin of ur people? Ohun eniyan ni ohun olorun. Enlighten us if there is more to this eg cost/space issues |
MODS: has the request been denied? Posting a topic like "how do u distinguish between the leaves of a plaintain and banana tree" will be kind of odd in the general section. Please, please give us an agric section and if its not patronised, u can always pull it down. My 2cents! Just did a search and discovered that a request for this agric section was made on NL way back in 2009 wit a lot of interested ppl. Wit all this talk about food scarcity, there shouldn't be 2 much debate about givin us this section https://www.nairaland.com/347504/why-there-no-section-agriculture |

I wonder how it died in Nigeria. I remeber in the 80s, all NEPA wire were cluttered wit kites. We used 2 run home 2 make one. Every street was a football pitch for monkey post. All round objects were soccer balls, all tarred surfaces were marked wit squares for that game I can't recall its name; we alsoi played "island balls". Girls played tenten; Skippin rope was a "must av". This was in Nija o! What happened? My kids barely ride bicycles, only play soCcer on nintendo wii, interactions wit other kids is done primarily on bb and tablets (outside school). 2 them, monkey post and tenten r strange names. |
This must be a big joke for several reasons. Firstly, the road this buildin is sited upon has no need for 8lanes. There is no 8lane road in oyo state, not even the dugbe-UI or bodija-secretariat or ringroad-apata roads, which r arguably busier dan this stretch of road. At most, it would be 4-lanes, which will only eat into some of Ayefeles parkin space, not the buildin. Even our "best road", which is federal road, is the ibadan ilorin express and dats 4lanes plus hard shoulder. Secondly, also on the same road as Ayefeles buildind is Lister motors, a company dat belongs 2 Aare Arisekola Alao, which Gov Ajimobi wouldn't dare upset, especially as Lister has only recently been renovated wit millions. Arisekola and Alaafin of Oyo, more or less installed Ajimobi and removed Akala. I can't see Ayefeles buildin bein pulled down and lister bein spared. Thirdly, any plan 2 widen that road would involve so much gutterin and sand fillin that I doubt the govt would start it now. It would consume billions of naira wit little result due 2 the fact that parts of the road suffers from severe landslide Finally, if the govt does widen that road, it would also need 2 widen the exits of the road ie challenge and orita roundabouts, else there would be creatin a bottleneck (8lanes mergin into an already congested 4 lane roundabout). Anyone that lives in Ibadan knows that when this area blocks, there is a knock-on effect across the city. Months into Ajimobis govt, a bridge was planned for challenge and this is yet 2 see a single column, 18months on. So this is either a late April fools joke or Ajimobi has gone suicidal and very crazy. OR we r talkin 4lanes not 8, wit just some paking space/fence bein lost by Ayefele |
Oh boy, keep that "illusion" u av of nigerian men. The reality will surely disappoint u. Nuf said!! |
When was the last time someone flew a kite or better still, made one of those "home made" kites wit gari/eba, thread, and broom. Or even the nylon type. Just had 2 teach my kids how 2 make and fly these things. Last made one 30yrs ago. Boys, its fun. Just zoom or squint 2 see my (son's) beloved kite

Thanks |
I engage in several forms of farming for personal consumption includin banana, plantain, cassava, yam etc. I also breed chickens and turkeys, wit intention 2 experiment wit catfish farmin soon. From time 2 time, I av questions/issues which could benefit me/others. I know there are some others like myself. Would it be possible for NL 2 give us our own section for farmin/agric. This food section is not quite appropriate for discussion matters that could be relevant such as pesticides, buddin etc. Thank u in advance |
No one? ![]() |
If someone donated £100k to the Church of England, the Serious Fraud Office will be invited to investigate the source irrespective of how anonymously the tithe was given. Am sure same will happen in the vatican but in Nigeria, where even the house of God ia part of the corrupt system, no questions are asked. I hear prayers like "ppl will be searchin for u to give u million". Do I hear amen? Whole congregation shouts amen without thinkin dat the millions could be proceeds of crime. The law is simple, no one can be left to benefit from the proceeds of crime. If the law can proof the income has a criminal root, then the beneficiary must also be able to av reasonable suspicion of such criminal source. Good test case for efcc. It goes beyond churches and mosques. Musicians at parties, runs girls, relatives of politicians etc will later follow |
Shine ur eye. Its all about money. Is RE-registration goin 2 be free. Shouldnt each State govt be workin on unifyin their VIO database across all States? Won't this achieve a more worthwhile outcome? Wasn't that the purpose of the new (now old number plates)? Soon, when LASG runs out of ways 2 get more revenue, ppl will be taxed for wearin white shirts on mondays! Naija, shine ur eye. Its a pity no one will challenge it in a court of law? Gani Fawehinmi, u r missed. The initial registration of a vehicle is done by/thru the FRSC. So it covers every part of the federation called NIGERIA. For commercial vehicles in Lagos (like all states), they pay 2 obtain their hackney permits 2 LASG. So the data that LASG wants 2 collect cannot be collected then without this unconstitutional back door taxing? |
bosunolu: Check out PDP rally for OLUSOLA OKE in AKURE today. The man is in the race full force.I don't live in Ondo nor av any interest bt the divine msg I received is that PDP wil come second. ACN a close 3rd. |
naijacutee: Hi, I might be able to help on Option 2.Please send me ur contact number to 9jatowtruck@gmail.com. Thks |
So where is PDP in all this equation? |
I need 2 pay off the bill on my UK credit card and am currently in naija and won't be travellin 2 UK anytime soon. Any ideas on how this can be done. I av already incurred enough interst/penalties and don't wish 2 incur more. 1) Can I use one of my naija GTB debit card 2 pay for the credit card online 2)OR is there any Nairaland user currently in UK who need naira and we can work sometig out ie I pay naira into his account and he pays bill/sterlin equivalent into my barclaycard. (must be someone wit a good track record/reference on naira land) 3) OR can I use a euros domicillary acct 2 make the payment via swift? Note, this is in Euros not sterling If ur answers remotesly resembles a 419, don't expect me 2 honour it wit a response, so save it |
A very intellectual presentation by learned SAN. I respect ur views bt only time will tell whether u r right. Personally, I suspect u r speakin from an informed position based on what u know Northern leaders and SW leaders are discussing/plannin. That ur proverb: "Orisa bi o le gbe mi, fi mi bi ose ba mi" is indicting. |
As the title says. I need someone wit experience of glass mosaic 2 help tile my swimmin pool in ibadan. Please email me some pix of work (mosaic and pools) that u av done 2 9jatowtruck@gmail.com |
@agapepools: u promised 2 send me some pix specifically on work u av done wit mosaic tiles bt I never received. Pls resend if possible 2 me at 9jatowtruck@gmail.com. Also drop me a number (as neither the mtn and zain above is connectin), or send me a text @ 08023078711 and I will call u back. |
COPIED FROM JOKES SECTION. So all credits 2 the OP 25 Rules of driving in Lagos 1. When in doubt, accelerate! 2. Be prepared to ram into anything stopping you that is wearing uniform in Lagos (police, traffic warden, FRSC, Kai brigade, fire brigade, VIO, LASTMA, LAMATA, LASWA) 3.If you get caught by any chance, do not allow them to enter your car, if they happen to get in do not drive from that spot (veer off traffic & settle promply), and if they don’t agree, pretend that you are calling your uncle who is in the army (believe me it always works), never follow them to any sort of office except you are ready to pay ten times more than what was demanded. 4. Never give police or VIO your original particulars (whether expired or up to date). 5. Danfo drivers believe they are immortal. Never yield to the temptation to teach them otherwise. 6. Okada riders have a pact with suicide, avoid them like a plaque. 7. Avoid BRT buses in all ramifications, they have no brakes. 8. Taxi cabs (oko asewo) should always have the right of way, all of them have been driving in Lagos for 25 years. 9. Never, ever, stop for a pedestrian unless he flings himself under the wheels of your car. 10. The first parking space you see will be the last parking space you see. Grab it. Survival of the fittest you may say! 11. Learn to swerve abruptly. In Lagos, potholes (and sometimes car-holes) are put in key locations to test drivers’ reflexes and shock absorbers,( I saw one man fishing in one of the potholes last week). 12. There is no such thing as “one-way” in Lagos. Expect traffic from any direction at all times. The okada riders are the experts in this area. 13. Never get in the way of a car that needs extensive bodywork, except you want to spend your whole Saturday at the panel beater’s place. 14. Morning rush-hours are equivalent to Lagos grand prix (who gets to the junction first). 15. There is no such thing as a short-cut during rush-hour traffic in Lagos. Everybody might be inclined to take that ’short-cut’. 16. When asking for directions, always ask at least three people. Lagosians always claim to know every inch of the city – even areas they’ve never been to. 17. Use extreme caution when pulling into service lanes. Service lanes are not for breaking down the traffic, but for speeding, especially during rush hour. 18. Never use directional signals, since they only confound and distract other Lagos drivers, who are not used to them. 19. Similarly, never attempt to give hand signals. Lagos drivers, unused to such courtesies, will think you are making obscene gestures to them. This could be very bad for you in Lagos. 20. Hazard lights (popularly called “double pointer”) is not, (as commonly supposed) used to indicate a hazard. It is a warning to you that he is a bonafide Lagos driver, he’s headed ’straight’ and as such, will not stop under any circumstance. Take him extremely seriously especially if he backs it up with a continuous blast from his “horn”. 21. At any given time, do not stand on the zebra crossing expecting traffic to yield to you, or else you will have to explain to the on coming traffic whether you look like a zebra. 22. Speed limits are arbitrary figures posted only to make you feel guilty. 23. Remember that the goal of every driver is to get there first by whatever means necessary. 24. In Lagos every spot is a potential bus stop. FRSC and LASTMA know that too. It is in their constitution. 25. Above all, keep moving. Even with a flat tyre!!! |
Moral of the encounter has been stated for all 2 learn: 1) Don't stop for LASTMA or any uniformed person 2) If stationary wen approached, CRUSH em. Didn't one LASTMA guy beat a driver 2 death yesterday? Fashola cannot eradicate lastma, not just because they av some +ve effect, but like most ppl noted, these r street criminals in uniform. They will simply pick up arms, return 2 the streets and escalate the current level of robbery in lagos/elsewhere. As for the person that called Lastm a lagos version of niger delta militants! Hmmmm. I think the boys in the creeks are renowned for pipeline vandalism and Kidnappin politician families/white dudes. So not same example Finally, not all lastma officials are yoruba. The two I know well are both from Delta state. They caut across all tribes. Bein able 2 speak yoruba does not make one yoruba. In anycase, Lagos is no mans land..........just like abuja |
Emmykeyz: There is a simple way to check that your newly purchased BlackBerry Smartphone is really new. (Forget the packaging!!!) Cuz Lately, many 'NEW' devices are being sold as rebuilt or refurbished. Thanks bro. Best answer of the lot! |
Oh boy, is this a 2004 model or do u mean it was imported in 2004? |
Whether the story is true or false, it has definitely been entertainin and I hope it dsnt end...............at least until the baby is born...............then we can av an interlude before Series2. Lavvvving it |
Why don't u post all 5 pix and then price each accordingly or r they all the same price. Is the white one part of the 5? |
Onegai, u sure u r not me/my family cos all u said is so close 2 home. I am fortunate 2 hold dual citizenship (UK and Nigerian), so our unborn child automatically gets british citizenship, wit my wife bein eligible 2 apply for UK visa without much wahala. My ex-wife (whom I met whilst livin in London in 1997 and married in 2000) got UK citizenship via me. We returned 2 nigeria in 2006, only for her 2 walk out on me a few yrs later, takin our two daughters. The youngest was only months old then. She was from Akwa Ibom. She never even waved me goodbye. Now this one is from delta. I prayed I av not goofed again. God please. Thank u all so far. Eniti o ba bere ona ko ni shina (he who asks for directions never gets lost) |
