If it was in a sane society like UK, Mahmud Yakubu and hundreds of INEC officials would have been cooling their heads in prison by now. But in this jungle called Nigeria, anything goes. In fact, the criminals will be rewarded and celebrated. A country without righteousness will remain a shit-hole and un-progressive forever. It's a reality. |
Politics › How INEC Changed Tinubu, Peter Obi’s Scores During Presidential Election – BBC by floret23(op): 11:25am On May 16, 2023 |
How Electoral Body, INEC, Government Officials Changed Tinubu, Peter Obi’s Scores During Presidential Election, Hired ‘Questionable Individual’ To Read Results – BBC InvestigationAlthough, the opposition parties especially the PDP and LP have rejected and are challenging the outcome in election petition Tribunal, the “president-elect” Bola Tinubu is due to be inaugurated on 29 May.
An investigation by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on the February 25 Nigeria's presidential election has found evidence suggesting a lot of results may have been manipulated.
SaharaReporters reported that on March 1, 2023 the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof Mahmood Yakubu declared the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu as the winner and declared him as the “president-elect.”
According to the INEC declaration, Tinubu of the APC polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat his contenders – Atiku Abubakar of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 6,984,520 votes, Labour Party’s Peter Obi had 6,101,533 votes to come third and candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso with 1,496,687 votes.
Although, the opposition parties especially the PDP and LP have rejected and are challenging the outcome in election petition Tribunal, the “president-elect” Bola Tinubu is due to be inaugurated on 29 May.
However, the BBC investigation has uncovered significant anomalies in Rivers State, a key battleground saying there are also questions over the identity of an election official who read out some of the unexplained results.
The BBC Investigation revealed what it found in Rivers State.
“We added up the voting tally sheets from over 6,000 polling stations in Rivers State, where many of the opposition complaints had been made.
“While the official result in this state gave a clear majority to Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), our tally suggested that Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) had actually received most votes in the state by a wide margin.
“We found an increase of just over 106,000 in Mr Tinubu's vote in the official declaration when compared with our polling station tally - almost doubling his total in the state. In contrast, Mr Obi's vote had fallen by over 50,000.
“It's important to make clear that although we searched through the election website for every single one of the 6,866 polling stations in Rivers state, we were not able to obtain results from all of them.
“Some were incorrectly uploaded, others were missing, even after a month from the date of polling. For about 5% of polling stations, the photos of tally sheets were too blurred for us to read. It's reasonable to assume that the official count would have included these as they would have had the original documents.
“In another 17%, there were no results at all. Many of these would have been places where no voting took place due to security issues or the non-arrival of voting materials. Others had technical problems preventing officials uploading the documents.
“So there clearly would have been more polling stations included in the final official results that weren't included in the BBC investigation.
“However, these additional tally sheets would have increased the totals for each party, not decreased them. And what we found was that the votes for Peter Obi's Labour Party had decreased sharply in Rivers state. So how can the sharp fall in votes for Peter Obi - in the official result - be explained?”
The BBC report added that the first major discrepancy was the Oyigbo local government area, where “we found: the vote for Bola Tinubu was six times larger in the officially announced results compared with the BBC's polling station count. Peter Obi's votes had been cut in half. The second local government area where we found major discrepancies was in nearby Obio/Akpor: The official result for Mr Tinubu was 80,239 votes, but we counted just 17,293 votes from polling station tallies.”
“The count for Mr Obi was announced officially as just 3,829 votes, but the BBC counted 74,033 votes for him on the tally sheets. So how did these differences occur? As explained earlier, all the polling station sheets are collated at local government (LGA) headquarters.
“We found an official election document with these collated votes for the Oyigbo area, signed by an election official and some of the party agents. Several different photographs had been taken of it and uploaded on social media accounts. The numbers in this document closely matched our own tallies for the two leading candidates (Obi and Tinubu).
“This would have been one of the 23 collation sheets from LGAs in Rivers state taken to the state capital, Port Harcourt, for the official declaration. Broadcast live on television on 27 February, in front of a bank of microphones, Oyigbo election official, Dr Dickson Ariaga, announced his name and that he worked for the Federal College of Education in Omoku.”
On the recording, the word "Omoku" is indistinct, but there is only one Federal College of Education in Rivers State.
Dr Ariaga then read out the results for each party in alphabetical order, including for all the smaller parties.
They all matched those on the collation sheet the BBC had obtained. But when he reached Mr Tinubu's APC, instead of saying 2,731 as written on our photograph of the sheet, he read out "16,630".
Then for Mr Obi's party (LP) the figure changed again - instead of the 22,289 seen on the sheet, he announced "10,784", more than halving his vote.
According to the BBC, “we asked the electoral commission if we could speak to Dr Ariaga, but they would not give us his details or reach out to him for us. We spoke to the election official seated next to Dr Ariaga, but she told us she wasn't authorised to talk to the press.
“So we sent a reporter to the Federal College of Education in Omoku, about two hours drive north of Port Harcourt, where he'd said he worked when introducing himself.”
The Deputy Provost Moses Ekpa told the BBC: "From our records, both from our payroll and from our human resources, there is no such a name in our system and we don't know such a person."
“We tried tracking him down on social media and eventually came across another Facebook account for someone in Port Harcourt, whose profile details had the name Dickson Ariaga.
“When we compared an image from this account to the television pictures of Dr Ariaga using Amazon Rekognition software, we achieved a match of 97.2%, indicating a very high probability they're the same man.
“Dr Ariaga did not respond to messages sent by us to this account. By reaching out to his Facebook friends we did finally manage to speak to a man who said he was a relative, who was at first willing to help us but then didn't return our calls.”
“We put these findings to Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec). Johnson Sinikiem, INEC's regional spokesman in Port Harcourt, told us that due to a "gross shortage of time and personnel" they had needed to take on some people without verifying their identity documents.”
Referring to Dr Ariaga, he said: "If he had presented himself as a lecturer from [the college in Omoku] and it's otherwise, then he is dishonest."
“We also approached INEC's headquarters in Abuja for a response to our findings of discrepancies in the results in Rivers State. We were told that they were unable to comment due to ongoing legal challenges.
“This is just one case in one state in southern Nigeria where the evidence points to the results having been manipulated. On their own, these altered results would not have decisively swayed the outcome of the presidential election. Bola Tinubu won the national presidential vote by 1.8m votes over his nearest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.
“We're still looking for Dr Ariaga to respond to the findings in this report.” https://saharareporters.com/2023/05/16/how-electoral-body-inec-government-officials-changed-tinubu-peter-obis-scores-during?utm_source=operamini&utm_medium=feednews&utm_campaign=operamini_feednews |

Osuntokun: I Campaigned With Obi For Almost A Year, Lamidi Apampa Was Nowhere To Be Found As the crisis in the Labour Party continues to occupy the front burner of public discourse, an ally of Peter Gregory Obi has taken a swipe at the former Deputy National Chairman, Lamidi Apampa, by accusing him of showing up after the hard work had been done in the party.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Wednesday, Osuntokun, who was the Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, insisted that if Apampa was indeed the Chairman of the Labour Party as he claims, he ought to have been present at the time Peter Obi was touring the country during the pre-election campaigns.
He said; “In the past one year, we have complained and done a lot of party activities with the main agenda being the presidential campaign. During this period, not once did I see any of these names being mentioned. Not once did I see Lamidi Apampa or Arabambi anywhere near our presidential campaign activities. There are no issues in Labour Party. Like I said earlier, I have never seen any of these guys at a party function within the past one year. When Obi, myself, and other members of the executive were traveling around the country on campaigns, Lamidi Apampa was nowhere to be found.
Now, he and his group have come out from nowhere to serve as agent provocateurs. You will recall that at some point, they claim they were disbanding the presidential campaign council and withdrawing the petition from the election tribunal. Who does that to his party? It reminds me of the story in the Bible when two women brought a baby before King Solomon. Remember that it was the pretender who asked for the baby to be sliced into two. That is what Apampa’s group is trying to do to the Labour Party.” sportiquetv.com |

Until now, many Nigerians cannot comprehend why the INEC chairman ignored every call to follow the 2022 Electoral Act as well as the INEC guidelines in announcing winners of elections. Family › My Wife’s Salary Was A Mystery Until I Discovered How Much She’s Truly Worth by floret23(op): 2:23pm On May 08, 2023 |
In 2016 she told me her salary was N35,000. And then two years later, when she got promoted, I asked about her salary and she said, “Oh these people, don’t mind them. They added only N8,000 to my old salary. Because of her meager salary, I’ve taken up so many responsibilities in the house without complaint. I pay for utilities and pay for food. I pay the fees of our two kids, clothe them, and take care of their medical bills. When my wife sends me a grocery list, she adds sanitary pads. She buys dresses and clothes, comes to show them to me, and asks me to pay for them. She started talking about a car when our second child came in. Things weren’t good on my side so I asked her to give me some time. She said, “I’ve saved something. I can add it to what you have so you pay me when your money comes.”
I agreed and took that money from her, topped it up to get her a car. For three months my ears never rest. She would wake up at dawn and ask me to pay what I owed her. I got tired and paid the money when I didn’t have much in my account.
One evening, I turned my laptop on and saw a lot of emails. I checked and it was my wife’s email that had been opened. I asked her, “Did you use my laptop?” She answered, “Yeah I was checking something.” I told her, “Then you didn’t log out.” She answered, “I forgot. Please log out for me.” I was about to log out when something caught my attention. I saw a mail with the subject, “January Payslip.” I opened and started going through. When I saw her gross salary, I was shocked. N654,734? And this girl has been crying poverty?
I went through the details. That night I couldn’t sleep. I was angry. I felt let down. I felt cheated. I felt played. We’ve been married for six good years and my wife earned that much without my knowledge? How much she earned didn’t bother me a lot than what she was using that money for. I decided not to talk immediately but rather do a little bit of investigation.
All my life I’ve held the view that it wasn’t right for anyone to go through their partner’s phone. It’s an invasion of privacy and it breeds mistrust in the relationship but that night, going through her phone was the only way to find out what I was looking for. I started with her best friend. Nothing much was found. Her family had a Whatsapp group. I read the messages there. I got few hints. I went through the chat with her father and that was when I realized my wife had bought a piece of land and had started building. Her father was in charge of the project. He had sent photos of the various stages of the building. At some point, her father said, “Thank you for helping out your brother. He would have been home had it not been you.”
She has only one brother—her senior brother. I went to look for the chat between them. Her senior brother lost his job and was home doing nothing so my wife bought her Hyundai i10 to use for Uber. Every week, her brother rendered an account and they split the money. From all indications, my wife was doing well for herself while she plays poor so she could rely on my salary. Why would she do that? I thought I was being a supportive husband so my wife could be proud of the man she married. When we bought land, it was her name and my name that appeared on the land title. That car I bought for her with a loan from her bears her name. I didn’t mind. I believed what’s hers was also mine.
The next morning she realized I wasn’t looking well. I was boiling on the inside but looking for a good opportunity to start the conversation. When I calmed down a little, I asked her, “So why would you do that to me?” She asked, “What have I done?” I answered, “You bought land, you never told me. You started building on it, you never told me. When are you going to tell me?” She was shocked. She asked, “Who told you all that?” I said, “Your father did.” She stood quiet for a while. She asked, “Why would my father tell you all that? What were you people talking about” I said, “I don’t know. You can ask him.”
We left it there. Some minutes later she came to me with her phone: “My father wants to talk to you.” The phone was already on a loudspeaker. Her father was clearly angry. He asked, almost shouting, “You said I told you my daughter has a building? Where did I say that and when?”
I asked, “Is it not true that my wife has a building project going on that you’re supervising?” He asked me, “I told you that?” I asked him, “Is it true or not?” After the back and forth I told them, “I read your messages last night. I saw the pictures. I read the various budget you had sent to my wife. I read the confirmation of the money receipts that you sent her. You’re a man. Would you be happy if your wife does this to you?” He started fumbling. He started apologizing saying he thought I was aware.”
My wife stood there motionless, didn’t know what to say. When her father hung up, I told her everything I knew, from her salary to the car she bought for her brother. I said, “Yet, even your sanitary pad, I buy them. You think I’m a fool? You’ll use your money to acquire your own properties and live on mine because you’re my wife? I hear. We’ll see.”
Trust was lost. Love was broken. We had to find a new way of living our lives going forward. Her father called me every morning and evening apologizing for everything and sometimes taking up the blame so I didn’t have to blame his daughter. I told him, “The emotional state I’m in right now, it would be hard to think straight or think forgiveness. Just give me space.” Three days later, they were in our house. The father, the mother, and the senior brother. They came to apologize. “Don’t let this break up the beautiful marriage you both have. If nothing at all, consider the kids and be lenient in your judgment.”
I listened to them. My position was still the same. “I need time to clear my mind. Just leave me alone to think.” From last month to this moment that I’m writing this, my wife had changed totally. She doesn’t ask for money but the house is being run smoothly. She has started paying for things she never paid for but that doesn’t move me. She has taught me a very great lesson and I’m taking it seriously. That in everything, I have to look out for myself and my family first. Lastly she told me, “If you want us to change the names on those properties, we can do so.” Guess whose name is on the property…her father’s name.”
I told her, “You don’t need to change anything. They are yours. You suffered for them so you can decide what you want to do with them.” The land I bought has our names. I’m selling it and take my money back. The car she’s driving has her name. I put a for-sale sticker on it some weeks ago. She agreed she’ll pay for the car. I’ve given her two months to pay up or I sell it and take my money.
She’s getting the message and I’m glad. Each one for himself, God for us all. She keeps asking if I’m going to leave her. I keep telling her I won’t but if she wants a separation for a period, I will gladly give her. I’m not going to leave the marriage. I would give us some time to heal and see what may happen but when it comes to money, I’ve taken the lesson she taught me through her actions. #copied |

Why I believe Tinubu's surpporters' problem is not only political but mental and moral degradation. Initially, I thought Drug Daddy's surpporters are blinded by party politics but I was wrong. I came to this realization when I begin to see that these guys are always on the side of evil even when Tinubu or APC is not involved. They are hell bent to always be on the wrong side.
For instance, check their views on Ekeremadu's court case in United Kingdom. Tinubu's surpporters are boldly defending Ekeremadu but cursing and insulting Ekeremadu's victims (that innocent young man). Who in his right sense commend a criminal but condemn his victim. These guys' minds are programmed to be on the evil side. They are Putin's fans, they rejoice at killings by Fulani herdsmen, and they celebrate criminals like corrupt politicians and drug barons.
