olasmith10:It seems they are powerful at home, it is safe for our political atmosphere if they are arrested and tried there. |
I don't care when they started investigating her, all I want is everybody that has milk the nation dry irrespective of their age, gender, political affiliation and geographical location should be investigated, arrested, tried and jailed for all the atrocities they have commited. |
The UK National Crime Agency [NCA] on Saturday said investigation into allegations of corruption against Nigeria’s former minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, and the four other people arrested Friday had been on since 2013. In an update on its website, the NCA said, “The investigation commenced in 2013 under the Proceeds of Corruption Unit, and transferred to the NCA earlier this year.” Until recently, the Proceeds of Corruption Unit was domiciled at the Metropolitan Police Service. But after the International Corruption Unit was created at the NCA in line with the UK Anti-Corruption Plan, the Proceeds of Corruption Unit at the Metropolitan Police and the Overseas Anti-Corruption Unit of the City of London Police were scrapped. The ICU then became the UK’s prime agency for the investigation of bribery of foreign public officials by individuals or companies from the UK, and money laundering by corrupt foreign officials and their associates. In its update Saturday, the NCA also said it had released the former minister on “conditional bail”. The other four unnamed persons arrested with her were also granted bail. “All five people arrested were released on conditional police bail later that evening, pending further investigation both in the UK and overseas.” The conditions of the bail are not immediately clear. But people familiar with the matter told PREMIUM TIMES that Mrs. Alison-Madueke and her colleagues were barred from travelling out of the UK pending conclusion of investigation and their arraignment in court. One source said the suspects’ travelling documents were seized, but PREMIUM TIMES has been unable to independently verify that as at the time of this report. The source also said the suspects were also warned against any attempt to tamper with evidence. PREMIUM TIMES had on Friday exclusively reported the arrest of the former minister, alongside four others, by the UK agency over offences related to bribery, corruption and money laundering. The identities of the four other people arrested along with Mrs. Alison-Madueke, could not be immediately ascertained. Former minister accused of graft Mrs. Alison-Madueke, one of the most influential officials of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration, was first appointed into the federal cabinet in 2007. A former board member of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, she was later appointed Minister of Transport by former President Umaru Yar’adua. In December 2008, she was redeployed to the mines and steel development ministry. After former Vice President Goodluck Jonathan became acting president, Mrs. Alison-Madueke was appointed Nigeria’s first female petroleum minister in February 2010, a position Mrs. Alison-Madueke held till May 29, 2015 when Mr. Jonathan left office. Mrs. Alison-Madueke’s tenure as petroleum minister turned out one of Nigeria’s most controversial, amid unending allegations of massive corruption. Under her watch, dubious oil marketers stole trillions of naira of oil subsidy money. She retained her position despite an indictment by the House of Representatives which investigated the fuel subsidy scandal. Probes by independent audit firms, including the KPMG and PriceWaterhousecoopers, confirmed that billions of dollars of oil money were missing. The most notable case of missing money involved $20billion in 2014, as alleged by a former Central Bank governor, Lamido Sanusi. Several shady deals exposed by PREMIUM TIMES and confirmed by government and independent auditors were linked to the former minister and her cronies. Long before her stint in the oil and gas sector, Mrs. Alison-Madueke was investigated by the Nigerian Senate on allegation she paid N30.9 billion to contractors while she held office as transportation minister. In 2009, the Senate indicted and recommended her prosecution for allegedly transferring N1.2 billion into a private account of a toll company without due process. Regardless of the indictments, Mrs. Alison-Madueke got elected in November 2014 as the first female president of oil producing countries alliance, OPEC. The former minister consistently denies wrongdoing. In June, after leaving office, she rejected all allegations of embezzlement saying she never stole from Nigeria. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/190970-we-started-investigating-alison-madueke-since-2013-uk-national-crime-agency.html |
@rickkychidex111 it is not about 100naira to call but imagine you see about 10post in Nairaland auto section and only 3 has price tag and the dealer says serious buyer should call, how many dealer will u call in a day. Attaching price gives the prospective buyer idea of ur range and he/she can figure it out whether to call you or not base on his/her own budget. Refusal to publicly state price also send wrong message that the dealer wants to capitalize on innocent buyer's little knowledge about the cost of the car. |
RoyalRoy:That is the most annoying thing about the so called Nairaland dealers, they will refuse to put price tag on the cars they advertised. They will write all sort of stories about the car but price will never be included, when u request for price some will arrogantly ignore u and post something like "serious buyer calls" " available to serious buyer" etc as if u don't have the right to know the price of what they are selling. The habit of call to know the price raises red flag which show the seller is dishonest and he/she is hiding something. Some time I deliberately move from thread to thread to ask for the price not because I want to buy but I want them to put the price because it is distasteful to market a product without price and it discourage so many potential buyers. |
kayjasper:You v said it all, the attitude of dealers here is so bad, how do u expect me to take u serious when u posted just two pics and no price attached I v bought two cars here for friends but I bought those cars from new guy/owners because they don't display the attitude of average Nairaland dealers. Funny thing is that when you ask for price from real Nairaland dealers, they tell u to call. Just imagine u have to call 10 delears to know their price in a single day, at the end they will all give you ridiculously high price that u will blame yourself for calling. No doubt some buyers are annoying, they price cars so low that u wonder if they want to steal it but dealers are the major problem here. |
LeSulk:Believe the article at your own risk, the boy is well known criminal, his father has being using his influence to cover up the young man's criminality. Just take a walk to milipat filling station in airport road Abuja owned by the senator and stylisly ask the stuff some questions, u will understand. |
Mythinghot:So he does in Abuja, he is well known criminal here in n Abuja. Infact I heard about this robbery incident that sent him to hell, the police officers are not guilty, the father is just trying to punish them. |
slap1:He was killed during gun battle long time ago, may be they just transfer a new police officer friendly to his father now. |
delishpot:This is one of the problems we are facing as a nation, perform your duty diligently out of favour to high and mighty and u are in trouble. |
slap1:U don't get it, reverse is the case. Those police officers are being punished for doing their job, u can go to milipat filling station owned by the senator and ask about the true story. |
delishpot:According to the info I heard, he was gun down during a gun battle. I just think the man wants to punish those unfortunate police officers for being on duty that day, that is all. |
JuanDeDios:It seems u are base in Abj. |
delishpot:My brother, he is a cultist who believes he can do things and go Scot free, he is notorious in Lokogoma, durumi, mararaba etc you know how those useless son of big men behave now. This killing has been long ooo I just wonder why they are bringing it up now. |
If it is the same senator okoro's son that is notorious for armed robbery, intimidation and extortion then the police is not at fault. The young man should have been jailed long time ago but his father has always cover for him, I only pity the innocent police men who has done their job and the father as usual want to punish the officer for that. |
Valeree:It is money thing, u have to belong to cabals to benefit from the massive stealing going on in the ministries and parastatals, it is a big power play and serious office politics. Women align themselves through sex while men align themselves through loyalty. For non civil servant, Abuja general is non productive, no industry, no port, no farm nothing that can give u money but their is alot of money flowing around and no good Samaritan so u have to collect your own by all means necessary so ladies sleeps around to get their fair share |
Valeree:My sister, u dey there jare. When he mentioned her anty in Abuja, I knew it was a lost course. Many people used to think Lagos, Akwa ibom, Imo, calabar or benue are the heaven of , but Abuja is the ultimate in Nigeria because of office politics and ability to steal money ( because u must belong b4 u can benefits). |
Fourwinds:My guy if u dey federal civil service, all this one no go be big deal to you, especially if u are in agencies that normally does field work, training, oversea tour etc your eyes go see weeeen and dem go carry the thing come give u too if u are interested. Feild work is like corp members going to camp ooo, Oga go include names of their side chicks for feild work so as to warm his bed while the woman will gladly be happy that her name enter book because of allowance and financial benefits. |
Fourwinds:One of them will always cook for him, she will filled the fried rice with chicken, snail, diffrent types of fishes, pomo and orishirishi. Infact that one used my boss to fight director of account, now she has worked her husband to same organisation. |
kunzaar83:Can u read and comprehend at all? Where in my post did I support or insinuate that i enjoy or participate in such a thing? It is better u quit the jugdmental habit. I only point out the obvious and u can remain in denial, it is non of my business. The truth is cheating is rampant and it is not a bid deal again to many people, u can check around you the business that is moving if not hotel business, u can check who patronize such hotel most if not married men and women. |
This remind me of my childhood friend, her father had an accident and he survived but the girl complained that if her father had died in the accident, she too would have studied abroad because one of her uncle was a top CEO of a bank and he sent the children of one of her late uncle abroad to study. However that was then she can't even imagine she said that again. |
Is that a new thing? Most people cheat in marriage now are days, I know how many married women my boss is smashing even though it is civil service here in Abuja. Just try your best but I doubt she will change. |
Sorry bro. |
Miami11:I understand the lady gave birth 4 to 7months ago through C S and the mother in law took care of her for some times( may be weeks or months) including bathing her and the baby according to op, but for the lady to completely abandon the woman is insensitivity, I can tell you that I v gone through surgical operation b4, mine was spleenetomy in which my stomach was cut opened and my spleen was completely removed due to rupture of spleen from car accident and I know what it means to be in that condition and I can tell you that after more than a month in the hospital, the second month I was back to my duties despite the doctor's advice. On your second point about her being taking care of her baby alone says alot about her immediate family and explained her insensitive and uncaring bad habit. Does that means she does not have family that could have assisted her since the only mother in-law that has been caring for her is down on the sick bed unattended to by her. If so, that is one hell family that I can't pray to marry their daughter, if nobody can come and assist her or could it be that she is a bad person that even her friends and family could not spare some time to assist her. Well what ever the case may be, anybody that could manage his/her pains to care for your own pain deserves every sacrice you can make to ease their own pain, sadly the lady in question did not have that kind of wisdom and many girls here too doesn't think it worth it. That is one of the reasons why we are having bad children now a days because their are too many bad parents who lacks simple human value. With many comments I have been reading on Nairaland, Facebook etc shows we are increasingly lacking values, wisdom and society cordial relationship and I don't see us producing a better society because most of our future parents are already showing poor characters. |
Miami11:I don't think this issue is about a maid, it insensitivity by the lady which proves the lady is the Kim kadarsian types we see now a days. A woman that took care of you when u gave birth despite her own condition and you can't provide any assistance for her, it is not a good at all. I know most ladies that are commenting on this thread are teenagers because I don't think any mature minded human being will support this heartless girl the op is talking about, but I still blame the husband to be because he looks like the kind of guy who married only for beauty and superficial thing and I bet you, the mil will suffer more of this in future. I just pray I don't end up with ladies like this, it is really a disaster to do so. |
onyaigo:Guy, somebody called my brother today, he claimed to be is former NYSC mate. However my brother is waiting him in chida hotel right now. |
oparahchi:call because I want to know the price of something you willingly advertised to us? |
oparahchi:You wrote almost 50 words to sell a product but the price in not among those words. |
Demdem:Atleast Audu still looks better than Wada if u compare their project but kogi deserve better. |
