BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT FISH BUYERS Pls. beware of some fish buyer's tricks to rip you off you hard earned money and profit. There was this friend of mine who wanted to sell his grow-out fishes and some people from Ibadan came to Lagos to buy They were using their sack to pack the fishes and weighing it in plastic container. In a very big pond, they claimed to have weighed 305kg my friend was very furious that he stocked more than 1000 fishes and most of them is 0.6kg to 1kg that something must have gone wrong when i got there, i offered to bring another scale so that we can weigh it again and we will all confirm. To my greatest surprise, before i return from where i went to bring the scale (within 20 mins), they have gone with their bus, only for us to later realise that they have gone with some fishes as a result of the misunderstanding that ensued later. After we re-weighed the remaining fishes, we got 511kg. Mind you, there were 2 people monitoring the scale initially and it is only weighed fishes that is taken to their bus. If they had no skeleton in their cupboard, they should have waited for us to re-weigh since they came from a long distance Fellow farmers, we should be very careful with these buyers, they can also be diabolic sometimes and tricky. NOTE: * Do not allow anyone to harvest your fish with their sack * Have good idea of what you have in your pond before you start selling * Use a container that you have good idea of what the quantity and weight should be * Be prayerful, careful, watchful and smart. * Do not allow any buyer/anyone use powder or do unwarranted makeup or do anything funny in your farm * Ensure that you have enough people on farm if you are selling large quantity * Attend to 1 buyer at a time * Don't let the buyers rush you or put you under pressure WE CAN ADD OUR EXPERIENCE |
You sef be money bag to have spent a whopping 113k on assumption you didn't even feel on the steering It is advisable to have good idea about car mechanism so you will not pay dearly for ignorance. |
I love Nairaland. @bigproject may have a point based on his past experience. But he could have asked questions instead of coming to conclusion. One just have to learn how to beat the usual way of farming to break even and that you have to learn always. |
each bag is 15kg. right? |
Well, we just hope the analysis are real. that will be ascertained when the feed is tested where can we get this feed in Lagos? What is the price range? If feed is good, you will see the result when u use few bags another major challenge of fish farmer is the feed we use, the manufacturer's claim is mostly far below the result and they come back and blame it on this and that, whereas, they have reduced to maintain steady price. |
@OP Where are you located? |
what is the protein content of your feed and other analysis? where can we get it? and how much? |

Nigerians can be so cooperative if they detect the slightest sincerity of purpose in their leader. In my own opinion, Nigerians will be the best people on earth if only we have good leadership. |
why did the guy run half way. he could have finished that assignment. |
jahbiz: I wish you guys quick discovery of Garden of Eden, I need a fruit from tree of life. They can never discover that one. 2 Powerful angels are guarding that place with sword of fire. Few research will lead the scientist away from God But much more research will lead us back to this Awesome God |
Marsh104: Its good having an office as a farmer bt at ur stage and level it's like wipping ur asss before pooing or an abortionn b4 pregnancy. Get a farm house first, stock it, manage it from there and the office can come later as u improve. Though it all depends on ur capital.Very good advice But I think this OP seems to have a complacent mindset. How can you be thinking of comfort when you've not done the hardwork. First thing any serious farmer should be thinking of is machinery. and how to do more work. Comfort will come on its own. Go to zartech in Ibadan and see Billions of naira investment there, at that level, you can afford comfort. |

my candid advice for you is to operate with the little money you have. you seems to be inexperienced in poultry operation, theory is totally different from hands-on practical experience. there will always be hurdles in this agric business and you cannot afford to experiment with loans that will be accumulating interest every day. Use your own money to experiment, when you've grown and has gotten some experience in the job, you can then seek loan from family and friends first, then bank. Bank loan is the last option for farmers. Bank can go to any length to recover their money if you flop. |
how much per acre/hectare? do you have planter? how much? can you work around ogbaagba (around iwo) in osun state |
They are very stewpid. After almost 15years of GSM in Nigeria, they are about to implement call monitoring. This country is backward. Our institutions are very weak. Sometimes when situation arise, you wonder if it is happening to a local government or a federal republic of Nigeria. |

Using gas is not the problem, but making it readily and cheaply available. It is not our firewood that cause environmental pollution but the gas flaring. the land will be green once the gas flaring is reduced or stopped to the barest minimum |

Pls. what are the technological ways of scaring birds. kindly share with us here. i can't imagine myself waking up early in the morning and coming back late in the night for a whole month just to scare birds on my rice farm, that's stressful |
volvo v40/s40 are very good model. i have an uncle who use it, his own is diesel and he always use it to travel between nigeria and ghana only thing i don't seems to like about the new models of volvo is that they come with aluminium engine which seems not to be so rugged like the cast counterpart and u may have to just replace when its getting so bad. the balancing is superb, good fuel economy, doesn't fail (if you give it what it demands), cheap to maintain, the A/C na mortuary standard, the parts are available mainly at Ladipo. Averagely, it is a good car for an average man. |
Pls. I need fish ponds for rent in osun or oyo state. I prefer big earthen ponds mostly. If otherwise, should be close to river or shallow well so I can use water pump Kindly contact me with the details and dimensions of the ponds and other facilities available if you have any My email: femi799@yahoo.com |
