Many people do not like their name ... that's common. She used her name on her business card ... is it the same name on her certificates? If she uses an English name she will be attracting more clients from all tribes because of the foreign is better mentality. She does not like speaking Igbo can be for the same reason .... she can lose clients who do not like Igbos. She is trying to stay neutral....it is good for business. That does not mean she has distanced herself from or rejected her culture. If it's not too late ...I suggest you call her up ... let her know what went down and ask for another chance. This is my thoughts exactly.

As a corporate person, you're absolutely spot on. I have multiple names from various tribes and I use them accordingly in different settings. My first name is English and I use it strictly for work business as I've come to understand that humans are tribal in nature and I want to maintain neutrality.

Using that strategy has helped me in relating with people and closing deals in the corporate world. It doesn't mean I am ashamed to be associated with my culture.

I did the NTI PGDE Program in Osun, 2017. 4 years later in 2021 without a result, I was notified I failed a course and had to resit which I did and cleared the following year. 2 years later in in 2023, I needed my transcript and certificate to run the UK’s Foreign Teachers’ recruitment. After months of waiting, I got the transcript and only notification of results without a certificate. After about a year on UK’s Qualified Teachers Status document assessment queue, my request was denied because I couldn’t provide the education certification i claimed to posses and my portal was shut down after ultimatum I was given elapsed this February. The unbothered manner in which the director and his agents over there reeks and make me believe these people are unrepentantly callous. I wish we had a functional system and sue them all for the damages they’ve caused me and many people who had helplessly recline to this inhumane and avoidable twist of destiny.

It's like a taboo to give hungry children soaking garri in my area. The wife who does that will answer to those above her. Make eba and organise quick soup. Anytime I drank garri( not up to 6 times i guess), i did it based on pressure. Maybe friend is drinking and i will join. But for me to organise it, it doesnt cross my mind. I will rather make swallow. My kids don't know what soaking garri is. I will not encourage them to try it.
My mum never drank garri. She hate it with passion. My siblings are worst.
I drank it first outside home, so yes, not everybody like it.
Left naija and bought ijebu garri cos I miss home, I drank it once. Even the eba, I no dey eat again for more than one yr. My kids eat eba. Since I got married yrs ago, I have never seen my husband touch garri and indomie. He will rather stay hungry than eat those two.

Why drink garri when you can just whip out hot eba and soup.
