Icon4s: My friend u said Taiwo Awoniyi was nt on same planet with Ajayi, mayb jst bc Ajayi was a 3SC player and Awoniyi then jst signed for Liverpool and loaned to Eintranct Frankfurt. I was only proving to u in that argument that Ajayi was more suited than Awoniyi as d main striker of that U23. U can judge from the performances of d two strikers in dat CAF U23 tourney
See the mistake u guys make is to underate youth players from the NPFL. Sooner or later u guys will find out that many of those Europe groomed players are nt much better than the NPFL youth players. Players like Etebor, Sokari, Okechukwu, Dimgba and Etor may b better than all the likes of Solanke, Sadiq Umar et al . Even Kelechi Iheanacho will have to up his game to break into d starting 11 of that team as u may know that Sokari & Etebor play similar roles as Iheanacho.
And yes Ighalo is in a blazing form and he took d world by surprise. I am sure at 3-4 months ago u wouldnt have thought that Ighalo would have scored 14 goals by half of the season. However, i would still nt rate him as among the best strikers in d world yet. Lets see him sustain this form to d end of d season and or mayb play in Manunited(as being rumoured) and still maintain that goal scoring form.
U implied I am in d habit of putting the "nt yet there" tag on our young players. I rather see it as u guys being too quick to hype young players. A player scores 2 goals in 2 appearances for AS Roma and next thing " he has replaced Dzeko", "he should b invited to the Super Eagles", "he should be in Rio". Plus all the Hype on Awoniyi and Iheanacho. I am nt taking anything away from these young lads. My wish is for them to become super stars bt the thing is we are always too quick to rate them as Super Stars.
Many young African players end up like "a flash in the pan". They only do well as teenagers and feassle out when it matters most. I have been following youths football keenly since the mid 1980s so I know what I am talking abt. I have learnt that MOST promising talents dont end up living up to expectations. Do you mean players like Ronaldo, Messi, Ozil, Inesta etcetera groomed in Europe are not better than NPFL players? |

terzurum5: Simon Hits Brace In Gent Win https://d1bez7r3o7wd77.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Moses-Simon.jpg By Johnny Edward: Nigerian winger Moses Simon scored a brace for Gent in their 5-0 win over German second division side FC Würzburger Kickerson Friday.
Simon who recently wedded his sweetheart Ibukun in Ibadan last year scored his first goal of the encounter in the 61st minute after waltzing through the Kickers' defence for his side's third goal.
The Nigeria international however completed his brace 15 minutes later after his deflected shot beat Dominik Brunnhübner in goal for the German side as the Belgian Champions began their winter pre-season on a winning note.
Moses has found the back of the net twice in 16 games for Gent who currently lead the Belgian Pro League with 43 points from 21 games two points adrift second placed Anderlecht who they host at the restart of the League on the 17th of January. www.completesportsnigeria.com/simon-hits-brace-in-gent-win/ Thank God he has started scoring goals. |

The former Nantes forward has revealed that the Nigeria Under 23s will begin preparations for the competition in a month’s time. “Since we qualified for the football event of the Rio Olympics, a lot of players both at home and abroad have been calling me that they want to play for the country, so myself and my assistants intend to use the first week of camping to see these players who will bear the cost of their trip to the camp and accommodate themselves, ” said Siasia. “Any of them selected will now be added to the players who made us proud in Senegal for a full camping. “Mind you, no player is yet guaranteed a shirt in the team, as I have always said only the best legs will make it to Rio de Janeiro.” Beginning from March, Siasia says he intends to run the rule over the foreign - based professionals in an accessible country in Europe, where they will play some friendly games before returning to their clubs. Granada`s Isaac Success, Man City`s Kelechi Iheanacho and Gent winger Moses Simon are all eligible to represent Nigeria at the Olympic Games. http://mobile.newsnow.co.uk/A/2/809869882?-21310:8643I no talk am. TheGoodJoe: I asked a smple question. How many Vitesse Boys are top clubs chasing?
Bony is your answer. Does that not tell you that it is not so promising? One is not a good number. Bony is no more a Vitesse boy.
If Barca puts their reserve boys for sale, like Sergi Roberto and Rafinha, I bet you more clubs will come for them than Solanke with all the game time.
Look at how Mancini rushed for Montoya who was a Barca reserve.
Game time s overrated.
At least, it's on record that the only one(?) Vitesse produced broke into Man City first eleven . That's the koko. Are they still playing for Barca reserve? Both of them were sent to Barca reserve team in the second tier of Spanish league for 2-3 seasons to gain experience before they were gradually brought in to play for Barca main team. In fact, at one point, Barcelona deemed them as surplus to requirements before they were sold off or converted and sent on loan. Chai! In the 2015–16 season, after being reconverted by manager Luis Enrique and merely months after nearly being deemed surplus to requirements,[10][11] Roberto appeared as a right back in several games.[12][13] Wikipedia confirmed it. |

TheGoodJoe: You are making one mistake. No one is saying Solanke is not hot. The dscussion is that is the loan move favorable to build Solanke.
Falcao did not come in with a stellar season behind him. If I do not think Solanke is good, will I prefer Chelsea keeping him as a third strike instead of signing Falcao?
Chelsea does not rate him as much as you do.
Yes, loan move is favourable to build Solanke because he has outgrown academy football and he can't be left on the bench for two seasons at a stretch. Even without Falcao coming, Chelsea won the League with Costa. If Chelsea doesn't rate him, how come he was promoted to the first team straight at the age of 16 last season and how come Chelsea named him on bench in their UEFA Champions League matches and even played him in one of those matches at the age of 17 which made him to become the youngest player to have played for Chelsea? |

TheGoodJoe: Did I ever say a player cannot be come a top player playing in other clubs?
I am saying it is faster for a youngster to attain top form playing with top players than the loan business.
This season, Remy injured and Costa got a suspension.
It is better Solanke played there as the third striker than the loan.
Look at Thiago Alcantara. He became World Class so fast becaue of the condition he trained under with the likes of Iniesta, Busquets and Xavi.
The point is too simple. Do you think Kelechi Nwakali will become a World Class player faster at Warri Wolves with regular playing time than as a sub at Barcelona.
Thank God you acknowledged that a player can become a top player while playing for other clubs. I don't think it's fastest because we all know Neymar, Rivaldo and even Yaya Toure didn't attain top form playing with top players. They are/were naturally good and talented players. How can we know Costa and Remy will be injured and get suspended at the beginning of the season? Chelsea managers are no prophet. Remember, Chelsea fc is currently the Premier League Champions and they achieved that with just one striker last season. Even, Drogba and Remy didn't get enough time to play last season. And you expect him to stay on the bench? You can see they never know tomorrow today. Nobody knows to tomorrow oo ah except..... Many players have trained with Messi, Inesta and Xavi but not all are super star today. Tiago Alanthra talent is inbuilt like any other talented ones. That's all. Is Warri Wolves in Europe? |

TheGoodJoe: Funny. So your market value of Solanke is Wilfred Bony. I wonder how that even came to you.
Bony left Netherland as the best player and the highest goal scorer. Is that what Solanke has done?
Neymar for instance had over six years of Professional football. So how can you judge Nacho in about six months of professional football.
If an injured Falcao is more important to Chelsea than a Solanke, I wonder how he has Bony's market value to you.
Judge Nacho after few years as a Citizen. So far, he has done well, made more headlines than your Solanke in top footballing sites and news network.] TheGoodJoe: quote author=TheGoodJoe post=41598168]
Solanke's decision was a ridiculous decision. It was better he was a third choice striker at Chelsea than going on loan. The Club choosing a crocked striker over him shows the club has no trust in their youth players.
Nacho has done okay for his first few months in professional football, including getting a National team call up.
I repeat, Nacho has a better market value than Solanke. How many Vitesse Boys are clubs chasing . @bolded is the koko. Wilfred Bonny is a product of Vitesse before he was bought by Man City for 35 Million Euros without collecting change and that's the exact answer to what you asked me. Oh I see! You mean Bonny left Vitesse as the best player and highest goal scorer to become Man City second Striker? Chai! Vitesse good ooo. Do you mean if Solanke is able to have more playing time and score more goals than Man City second striker(Wilfred Bonny) in their first season with Vitesse? Yes, of course. 5 goals and one assist in 15 matches for a boy playing professional football for the first time is not fluke now. Thank God you acknowledged Falcao is having injury thou we all know Chelsea didn't bring in injured Falcao. As you can see, Neymar preferred playing time than been used as a mere trainee hence he refused to go to Chelsea at his early age. You know now. |
