Elder kog45 don come with his nostalgic fondness of the past. If no be say Aina and Osimhen make your team I for talk say you dey stuck in time. grin

Me, I no rate all those oldies. I watched tapes of old naija matches, and I got the impression they were hyped beyond their prowess and ability by Ernest Okonkwo and other ace commentators of that era.

Those were the days when radio commentary used to run simultaneously with the matches on TV, and if you no dey watch the ball and were listening to only commentary, you'd think Odegbami or Adokie was dribbling the entire players of our opponents.

Na hype job all the 80's set be. As far as I dey concerned, the really skillful Nigerian players emerged in the 90's. This is further buttressed by the exodus to Europe of lots of players to play professionally, and the eventual AFCON victory in 94.

I know this kinda thing is subjective so I respect your list but I truly think there's no way any Nigerian player that played predominantly in the 80's is better than those that played in the latter decades.

Adokie Amesiemeka ❌
Segun Odegbami ❌
Yekini, Rufai and Stephen Keshi were product of 80s. What do you have to say about that?

Segun Odegbami was not hype. The reason he made 2nd and 3rd best African player in 1980 and 1977 respectively.

He was crucial to our first AFCON glory and African league glory by winning the first Africa club trophy. Africa cup Winners cup in 1976. He made world Team of the 20th Century first 11 for Africa in "1998". Why was he included ahead of others?

Most of you didn't know that the 80s set played at the Olympics. It was not under 23 but full football tournament rivaling FIFA.

Adokiye Amiesimaka was a master dribbler better than any left wingers we ever had but problem is he doesn't know how to score goals.

Nevertheless, a fine player.

Another very strong all time XI on paper but...

Tactically, we cant have 2 liberos playing together. One must be the aggressor. Chukwu and Keshi are libero kind CBs. One must drop.

For LB I like that somene includes Taiye Taiwo. He is as good in this all time XI as Babayaro or Iroha. Yobo maintains that RB spot as he originally began there before metamorphosing into a World Class CB. Still a RCB so yes, RB for Yobo.

No changes to the middle. Those 3 are our greatest midfielders of all time. Muda lawal was really good. Ilerika was a dynamite but I agree those 3 are the best.

The attack is where it gets very interesting coz some names will be left out even when they deserve to make it

Odegbami vs Finidi... whoever anyone picks here, I will understand. Both are great. Our greateat RWs of all time. But for me personally, it is "World Class George" all the way. He was called that by some pundits. Best RW in the world no be beans.

Amunike vs Victor Ikpeba vs Adokiye Amiesimaka... Another one. But Amunike edges. Amunike was always clutch and you dont show up in two major finals scoring the match winners and not be considered Great.

Amunike in 1994 Afcon final - Brace.

Amunike in 1996 Olympics final - Matchwinner.

Amunike was the Ultimate Clutch Winger and Big game player in the NT.

Yekini vs Osimhen.... The biggest debate but I will go with Yekini for now. Only because Osimhen is yet to break the Goals record yet. Once Osimhen breaks it, consider my stance changed automatically. 😂

So for the CF role, only 9 goals are left to change my stance. For now, YEKING pls. Lol

BUT WHERE DO WE KEEP THESE OTHER ALL TIME TALENTS?? In a 433, they wont make it. But in a 3-4-2-1 or 442, they likely would.

I speak of GREAT BALLERS LIKE:

- Daniel "The Bull" Amokachi

- Nwankwo Kanu

And

- Samson Siasia

In all, a very strong All time XI by Forgiveness. Will still edge all others on the continent I no go lie including Cameroun's All time XI.
Who will you drop between Chairman and Keshi? For who?

From tactical point of view and modern day football, I will put Odegbami ahead of Finidi because Odegbami can dribble in tight space and score goals.

Besides, Odegbami was CAF 2nd and 3rd African best player. How come "World class" Finidi didn't make top 3?

I prefer a goal scoring winger hence Ikpeba is my pick.

Neymar has already overtaken Pele as the Brazilian national team highest goalscorer but he can't be listed ahead of Pele for obvious reasons.

So u dont even know🤣
U just read somewhere that he came from isheri and u carried the lie.
Anyways
Ashipa is the second son of Oba Orhogbua - the seventh Oba of Benin and the 49th king of igodomigodo kingdom. His mother name was Umelu.
His elder brother and Orhogbua successor Oba Ehengbuda was the one that engaged the oyo empire that resulted in the treaty that birthed the Benin-Oyo frontier, a military group to help fight externals. The treaty was signed in Otun - present day Ekiti.

Oba Ehengbuda then had power over most Yoruba states e.g Owo and others and their kings then were required to pay tribute to the Oba.

So guy, if u are really want to know who Ashipa was, waka enter Alaafin palace or Olowo of Owo and ask them what is the relationship between Ashipa and Oba Ehengbuda
They will tell u straight they are brothers except they are twisting history too.
Thank you
So, Ashipa is Benin name in your eyes, abi?

if u can reason without emotion, ask yourself why till today, the oba of lagos always claim Benin root and ancestry.
ask ur parent about Prince Ado. the first Oba of Lagos.
ask ur people where Ashipa came from.
Ashipa is an Awori man. He went to Benin and married the daughter of Benin. Ado is the child born by both that later became King.

After Ado mother died, he requested a town in Remo to bring Eyo masquerade to celebrate the burial of his mother and that was how Eyo masquerade came to Lagos.

I don't need to ask anybody because that is our history. You can't change it.

The claim that the duo of Okocha and Oliseh spoon-feed Yekini and thus the reason for his goals doesn't hold up to scrutiny,Ogbeni.

The fact shows that Yekini had already scored 20 goals in the National Team before either Okocha or Oliseh made their debut.

Let's leave this narrative and move on,abeg.
False information are dropped here severally. I saw a post that alleged Yekini got help from the aforementioned players else he for no score shingbin goal.

Some even falsely claimed he is all about goals but nothing apart from that.

They also alleged he played for lowly clubs. Bhuahahahha!

They are too young to take cognizant of the level of African leagues in the 80's.

The same African leagues produced African football of the year from 1971 - 1985 and Yekini played in the CAF Champions league final in 1984 for 3SC after he won the league with them in 1983.

The same Yekini held newly formed Abiola Babes to African cup winners cup in 1985 without the aforementioned player's help after he won 2 FA cups with them.

His performance made African Sports bought hin in 1987 after they lost the African champions league in 1986. This same club won West Africa club Championship consecutively in 1985 and 1986. Note that Stephen Keshi played for them during that era before he moved to Belgium.

Arguably, African Sports was the second best club in Africa as at that time.

Yekini scored goals that led them to 2 consecutive African Champions league quarter finals in 1987 and 1988.

Before then he had moved to newly formed Abiola Babes in 1987 and led them to the semifinals of African club winners cup after winning 2 FA cups with them.

Eventually, Winner of the African club winners cup in 1999 with African Sports.

I am talking about when Nigerian league was one of the best in Africa before the era Nigeria players started moving to Europe in "exodus". This is not because Nigerian league was bad but European leagues were buying Nigerian players directly from our league to show how strong it was then.

Who helped him to score goals in those teams he went to?

GABON'S ATTACK OF THE WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS SUPERCEDES THE PALANCAS NEGRAS, BAFANA BAFANA AND INDOMITABLE LIONS ATTACKERS OF THE AFCON AT THAT TIME.THIS IS NOT OVERESTIMATION BUT CORRECT ESTIMATION HENCE OUR NEED TO SUSTAIN THE BENIN TEMPO OR EVEN BETTER IT(IMPROVE IT). You said Dele Alli was better, now in your own words "what are you seeing today?" Can Dele Alli come any close to Iwobi's numbers today?

We never had any debate about Chuks and Ademola because they never contested for same positions. The only comparison was Chuks and Saka. Stop lying.

Here are the list of guys you rated;

Abdul Ajagun, Olanrewaju Kayode, Joel Asoro, Josh Maja etc.

There was never a debate regarding Solanke and Iheanacho, rather you and the joke of a boy called Komekn were insulting Osimhen and calling him crap and you both jointly stated that Solanke was better and that Solanke has moved to Liverpool to chase away Origi and send Origi to Wolfsburg to demote Osimhen to the feeder team from Wolfsburg bench. Today what's happening?

You also rated Awoniyi ahead of Osimhen. Like I said the other day, if Awoniyi was the one scoring these goals that Onuachu is scoring in Turkey, you would have been here once again doing your things as usual. We know you too well my boy.
Maybe you have fi.sh brain to have forgotten quickly how there were heated debates regarding Lookman. Na reason you and your cohorts called me names but today shame still never catch una.

I rated Awoniyi ahead of Osimhen!!!? Really!? Are you trying to impress to gain supporters? This is In your dreams. All those crap you conjure blah blah Origi.......cooked false accusation is from your wildest imagination. Not from me.

Onuachu with 25 caps and over 700 minutes in Se scored only 3 goals. Nevertheless, I told you I have not been following Nigerian players recently. So, what is your point?

Do I look like someone afraid of saying what I believe?

Besides, is it that you lack understanding or your are just being mischievous?

Perhaps, you made this out of your tribal prejudice.

I reiterate, Chukwumeka is far better than the current CM and AMf we have in the team.

Is he still available for SE? Yes.

Then where did you get the info he is not available?

I will never be in support of dual nationality players crashing the party only when its convenient for them to do so. It's opportunistic, parasitic and could spoil team chemistry and cause disunity in the squad.

I recall this same dude was asked about playing for Nigeria 2 years ago, and he said, (I paraphrase) "at the moment I'm focused on playing for England but lets see what the future holds which is a subtle way to turn us down.

The guy no even better pass Iwobi for AM. Iwobi is a better orchestrator and passer. The issue with Iwobi is wrong deployment, midfield partnerships and formation by our National team coaches which negatively impacts on his output.

We can do without him. Between Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, Wilfred Ndidi, Fisayo Dele Bashiru, Chrisantus Uche, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Alhassan Yusuf, Anthony Dennis and even Samuel Chukwueze we have enough players to cover in midfield.

Any dual national who wants to play for Nigeria should do like Ashleigh Plumptre, Alex Iwobi, Cyriel Dessers, Ademola Lookman, William Troost-Ekong etc and come out to declare their interest with their full chest, not use Nigeria as Plan B.

If they didn't declare interest and commitment when the work was being done, they shouldn't benefit from it by going to the world cup.

Make hin wait until after the world cup when the next AFCON qualifiers will begin, no be now.
I don't agree Iwobi is better than him in AMF and CMF position. Iwobi lacks ball control and skills to maneuver like Pedri and Caicedo.

He is a better SS. We need a ball playing CM and AMF that can control and wringle himself out of tight space and I think Chukwumeka is better at doing these.

However, you may have a point about the gate CRASHERS and opportunist but remember Victor Moses, Lookman etc once rejected us openly but see what they brought to us now.

We can't pretend we don't like better thing. We need to lure them to achieve glory for our country.

That's what successful and advanced countries are doing.

I understand he wasn't steady then and Nigeria never beckoned on him hence the need to play safe.

if dem leave scouting for you na em be say players from Ogbomosho go full super eagles
Really!? Where were you when I said Dele Ali was better than Iwobi even when e was nobody in Tottenham?

Where were you when I said Lookman was better than she Chuks or one player like that those days? What are seeing today?

Where were you when I said Oliseh was world class player and better than all our players combined when he was still an academy player? What are we seeing today?

Where were you when I said Eze was a top class player when he was nobody with Onomah (although I also said he was a very good player but the boy fall hand)? Today you can see with your eyes.

Where were you when I said Kelechi Nwakali with his style wasn't good enough? But then you and others fought me nail and tooth.

When all of you said Awoniyi can never make it in football when he was in second division, I was the only one that had a different view.

I could remember when Aina was dropped for the World, you said he wasn't good enough but today we can see with our eyes.

I use my eyes and data to analyze players before sticking my head for them. Unlike you that can never point out one player your vouched for that eventually became successful.

I could still remember Iheancho and Solanke debate but today we can see with our eyes.

I am afraid we don't have a solid Central midfielder in our team currently.

Iwobi is not a central midfielder and he lacks traits of an AMF.

It's been long I followed our players abroad because of the way people want to dominate the team through the back door despite not adding anything to the team.

However, since I watched Chelsea matches, rI will recommend Chukwumeka who is better Central midfielder and AMF than what we have currently.

I will begin to scout from henceforth. We must go world cup but we can't play playoff with Ndidi and Iwobi. Ndidi not good like before again.

Coming from you, you should review your stances and be ashamed not me. If you have excellent viewpoints like semid4lyfe , I will like and share, and if you don't it seems you don't exist in my head.
Kkkkkkkkkk. Shares and like. Does that increase or buy me shares in mega companies? You talk like a kid. grin

You don't have any time worthy of notice not only when you quote me out of context. Read through my prior and latter posts and the consistent message is we should talk about contributions shelving tribe aside and placing excellence first. Never was it implied that we is a tribe as no tribe won gold, silver or bronze but a nation called NIGERIA .

We can reel out our Gold,Silver and Bronze winning teams in male and female football and it resonates that names that sound like Victor Osimhen, Odion Ighalo, Chukwueze, Esther Okoronkwo, Perpetual Nkwocha, Kanu Nwankwo, Victor Ikpeba etc are mostly the ones delivering the goods for the country in football.
You think say I be novice? I can see through you choice of words. It reeks of prejudice.....na wey Sabi pass. No doubt. Continue.

Of course, I know but I also know what you don't know. Maybe you will know if I make you know that you are unconsciously a ....

Mercy Akhide and Perpetua Nkwocha were somewhat better in terms of final delivery than Oshoala. Rasheedat is an excellent player same as Asisat. I know the players from Edo state as I have affiliation to both Edo and Igbo. I only stated an example of what some folks on Nairaland do repeatedly in the name of comments and writeups leaning towards tribal sentiments which I think should stop.
Alakori re wa. This one just dey expose himself. If I talk, you go shame.

Who are the "we"? I can see you think your tribe is better than others in football. SMH

So, only those delivered for the country, abi?

I don't need to waste my time with this.

Onuachu is outscoring Osimhen in the same league and no one is moved. Even MkpuOgaliga(Idenna) isn't complaining.

Imagine, if the name wasn't Onuachu but Awoniyi, one tribal bigot would have been here displaying his madness.
Hmm! like those that displayed their madness by insinuating their own tribe are the only one that knows our to play football in the whole world but reverse is the case when we look at the reality. What do we call them? Delusional beings?

Then we can say Bassey was right to scold Nwabali. They need to communicate on the pitch and point out to any player playing no.nsens3.

I also agree with him on benching Ekong for the next game.

He made many points but that one qey him say he believes Nigerians should be coaching the team...mbanu. I no gree Dat one. Except if the Nigerian coach is doing well in a foreign club.
