@ Forgiveness,

For your Attacking Midfielder/Supporting strikers.

You put in this pool: Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Oghenekaro Etebo, Abdul Ajagun, Rabiu Ibrahim. I would also include Sone Aluko and Mikel Obi as part of the pool of AMs.

I have already picked Iheanacho as my preferred CF and Etebo as one of my first choice wingers. Alex Iwobi would be my first pick here.

Mikel has done creditably well in that AM position but I still prefer him in a more central midfield role. Sone Aluko was my first choice AM before Oliseh came and brought Silvester Igboun. I was one of those that seriously complained abt Aluko's exclusion, But Iwobi is here now and Aluko has to be second choice for me. If Etebo is to play this role I would also prefer him over Aluko.

As for Ajagun, the comepetition for that position is such that and I dnt see Rohr or any of the coaches considering him for now. The fact also that all the players listed in this pool can play that AM role in addition to 1 or 2 other positions. Iwobi, Aluko, Mikel, Iheanacho are Etebo all utility players that bring more to the team apart from the AM role. Rabiu Ibrahim is like a kabu-kabu that you kick start and when you engage to drive it switches off again. No chance for him.

We typically play a 4-5-1 and if we need to switch to a 4-4-2 we consider a supporting striker. This is a position Iheanacho, Success and Etebo can play wella. Ahmed Musa can also play as an SS.
My number one choice is Iwobi, followed by Iheanacho(depending on the formation). Etebor is another good option on the S/S position.

Ajagun needs to be invited to fight for a shirt and to also make him get familiar with the way the national team plays, should incase of injury, as we have always witnessed before any of our world cup.

That Rabiu Ibrahim case just tire me. I don't know wetin dey do am. Maybe na wetin you take discribe am na em, e be.

@bolded is spot on, just that I will remove Success and replace it with Joel Noel Bazee. Success is no longer the striker you use to know at the U17 level. e no sabi score well again. grin

For your center forward position.

You put in this pool: Aaron Samuel, Brown Ideye, Sadiq Umar, Olanrewaju Kayode, Fenan Adi. I would add to this pool Odion Ighalo and Kelechi Iheanacho.

In a typical 4-5-1 formation which we know the national team has come to be very comfortable and conversant with only one center forward plays.

My pick here is Kelechi Iheanacho.
I place Ideye and Ighalo as joint second choices but closely followed by Kayode. Then Adi comes next. Sadiq is young and may not be able to compete with the older boys for now. But he is for future consideration. I put him in the same pool with Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Chidera Ezeh and Kingsley Michael.
I don;t know why my mind is no longer with Ighalo after his move to China. I just want him out of the team.

Instead, I will bring Obafemi Martins back into the team. grin Suprised!? grin

I will never consider Iheancho in that 4-5-1 formation because he is best utilized as a second striker.

In a 4-4-1-1 formation, Iheancho can be deployed behind the striker but as a point man, it is a no for me. grin

i will prefer Aaron as my first choice, followed by Ideye. grin Martins Obafemi may come in. grin

@ Forgiveness,

Starting with your Left and Right Wing players.

I would personally put them in a pool of wingers. Reason being in today's football, wingers alternate positions during the course of a game. They also alternate with the central attacking midfielders.

You listed in this pool Victor Moses, Simon Moses, Isaac Success, Ahmed Musa, Imoh Ezekiel, Sone Aluko and Noel Joel Sarenren Bazee .
I would add to this pool Alex Iwobi and Oghenekaro Etebo (these are wingers too).

My starting wings choices if Iwobi would play the AM role would be Etebo and Moses. If Etebo plays the midfield role he played against Algeria then Iwobi and Moses are by far my first choice. Ahmed Musa and Moses Simon come next in my rating. I would personally want to include Isaac Success in the pool of strikers and would prefer to see Aluko in the central AM position.

As for Imoh the squad is too loaded for him to break in for now and as for Noel Bazee, I am not the type that rate or hype a player I dnt know so well.
First of all, I agree, wingers alternate positions during the course of a game, therefore, they should lump together as Winger.

However, I don't rate Iwobi and Etebo as good wingers because I have seen Iwobi made no impact in that position with the National team and Arsenal while I have never seen Etebo played in that position. Though, I may likely consider Iwobi if we play 4-3-3 formation.

Hence, My choice will revolve among the remaining players though you exempted some due to '?' hanging on their nationality. grin That one no mean say I agree with you ooooo on that issue. grin

In a 4-2-3-1, my starting wing choice are Victor and Success. Success because the guy his good and my second choice will be Aluko and Ahmed. grin

Beside, I have been very busy.

Well, I doing this just to squeez Joel Obi into the team. However, since both Joel Obi and Victor Moses are conversant with 3-5-2 formation, we can change formation if we are in search of a goal by removing the left back to accomodate Joel Obi. grin

But we must try out the formation in a friendly before considering it in an important tournament.

Liverpool to make profit on Tiago Ilori transfer after Reading agree £3.75million deal

ByKristian Walsh,
09:32, 9 JAN 2017

Tiago Ilori is on the brink of completing his £3.75million move to Reading – ensuring Liverpool have turned in a profit on the Portuguese defender.

The 23-year-old cost the Reds £3.5million from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2013
, sad sad grin in a deal which potentially could have risen to £7million.

The club agreed the fee late last week, and have also inserted a 25% sell-on clause in the contract.

The deal should be completed in the next 24 hours.

The centre back moves to the Royals to aid their promotion push, with Jaap Stam’s side currently third in the Championship.

Stam is a nobody as far as coaching is concerned. Yes Henry was an apprentist at Arsenal. He was working to get his Uefa coaching licence while on the job as an assistant.
Wenger asked him to step down working as a Sky pundit because he can't be working with the players during the week while criticising them on match day on TV.
Stam was also on the same Uefa Pro license pursuit, his studies took him to Ajax as reserve team coach then at Southampton as an under study to Koeman.
These experiences qualifies a candidate for Uefa Pro license. Its like an internship programme grin

You should be paying me for these info I dey download give you grin
Eeeeyaa! How can't you comprehend this one thing that Reading-fc valued Tiago Ilori to had broken their record fee to a defender? grin.

Where were Ndidi, Success and Ademola when Tiago Ilori was bought for 7M at the age of 17? grin

Besides, we all know clubs spends more on attackers and midfielders than defenders. grin

So, stop shifting goal posts to attackers and midfielders.

Now, tell me how many defenders worth 3.5M in the Super Eagles? I am referring to Omeruo and Ekong. grin

Sorry, try again later. grin

Which internship did Jaap Stam do at Ajax? grin

Olodorabata! grin Oga, stop lying, biko. grin

Jaap Stam was an assistant coach, and later, interim at PEC Zwolle (you can call this internship). From there, he proceeded to Ajax, as an assistant coach, Ajax defense coach to be precise. grin

If you have a successful loan period the club try to buy you. indeed you will have several clubs interested. This is a reflection of a very successful and impressive loan spell.

If Bordeaux thought he was so good why didn't they buy him or the other twenty clubs in the French league that watched him have a SUCCESSFUL loan period.

TIAGO ILORI PROGRESSING NICELY ON LOAN AT BORDEAUX grin

Tiago Ilori Progressing Nicely on loan at Bordeaux
Liverpool’s highly rated central defender, Tiago Ilori, is now beginning to blossom at Bordeaux after a tough start to life on loan in Ligue 1.

A hamstring injury back in October against Reims, that consequently saw him miss around two months, curtailed what had been a decent start to his loan spell.
grin

Ilori Progress

Since his return from injury, however, the Portuguese’s performances have been rather encouraging, as he continues to justify why Liverpool were so keen to acquire him, and paid £7 million to do so grin.

While he’s been partnered with multiple central defenders for a variety of reasons since coming back, including fellow Liverpool target Lamine Sane, Nicolas Pallois and Cedric Yambere, it’s been important to note Ilori has been a constant. His form has been solid too, something that’s obviously been greatly helped by the fact that he’s remained fit. grin

Obtaining playing continuity is vital for any footballer’s development, and in Ilori’s case, it’s fantastic to see him reaping the benefits of getting vital top flight minutes.

Playing against the likes of PSG, Saint Etienne, Guingamp and Toulouse this season will act as a terrific stepping stone for him in his quest to be a mainstay for Liverpool in the future. shocked shocked grin

Lining up in his now-customary position on the right side of central defence against Lens on the weekend, the 22-year-old produced another very positive display. tongue grin

Up against Lens’ physically imposing forward Adamo Coulibaly, who really is a brute of a man, Illori stuck to his role nicely, successfully limiting his impact shocked grin.

On many occasions, the former Sporting prodigy beat Coulibaly in the air and even held up well in battles of strength, but the area in which Ilori absolutely dominated related to sheer pace. shocked grin

He made certain that Lens had little joy playing balls in behind Bordeaux’s defence. Despite their relatively high line, the unbelievable covering speed and anticipation of the youngster almost completely nullified this avenue of attack for the away side.

Even on the odd occasion where a ball went over his defensive partner Yambere, by using his speed, Ilori would ofen motor across and kill the move. On 40 minutes a perfect example of this arose. Here, after Pablo Chavarria had broken through in behind Yambare, it looked as though the Argentine was clean in. It wasn’t to be. Thankfully for Bordeaux, Ilori charged across the field to execute a precise sliding tackle to knock the ball out for a throw in and save his team. grin

It was a magnificent piece of action, and one that illustrated just how good he is physically. He can leap, he’s fast and even quite strong despite his slender frame, and when combined with the fact he’s 190cm tall and only 22 years of age, he undoubtedly ticks almost all the boxes required in a modern day centre back. shocked grin

Intriguingly, and on a side note, he unsurprisingly still holds the record for the fastest 30-metre sprint at Sporting.

The youngster, also, showcased his ability to take up excellent positions and make good decisions – with and without the ball.

Hardly ever caught out in this contest was Illori, for he positioned himself intelligently enough to cope with any situation. He stayed goalside when tracking markers and didn’t step up and lunge into tackles overzealously. The maturity he showed when addressing the problems ahead of him, and in dealing with them in a calm and composed manner, was a real highlight.

Seeing as Lens often looked to move the ball down the flanks and whip crosses in for Coulibaly, it was impressive to note just how well Ilori dealt with these situations. As mentioned above, his concentration and awareness to remain goal side and keep track of his man was wonderful. This, in turn, meant that the languid figure was so often perfectly situated to clear and cut out crosses. The whopping 11 successful clearances he made depicted his effectiveness aptly here.

Whenever Bordeaux look to facilitate their attacks, their fullbacks Diego Contento and Mariano always have a key role in providing width for Les Girondins. So with this prerequisite in place, the covering work Ilori undertook was crucial in allowing his right fullback, the marauding Mariano, to motor upfield freely. It also gave the Brazilian peace of mind knowing that Ilori would cover his man, Lens left-winger Baptiste Guillaume, if a turnover occurred.

On the ball, the elegant stopper exhibited that fine passing range he possesses. While he often opted to play simple passes into Bordeaux’s deep-lying midfielder Gregory Sertic, his accurate long balls, horizontal and vertical, illustrated delightfully his quality in possession. This facet of his game should mean that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has little hesitation when integrating him in next season – if he chooses to use him.

“The technical quality of Tiago hit us,” mused Bordeaux manager Sagnol on this. shocked grin

Statistically, his numbers are rather impressive for Bordeaux too, and consist of him averaging 2.2 tackles per game, 2.7 interceptions pg and a colossal 6.1 clearances per game.

The former Granada man recently commented on his desire to return to England and to have an impact. “My long term plan is to play and win titles for Liverpool Football Club. The team they are building can be huge, and I want to be a part of that.”

All things considered, this wildly talented Liverpool loanee really does look to have a bright future ahead of him. The idea of a future central defensive pairing of Mamadou Sakho and Ilori is something that’s gaining traction, and could well become a reality sooner rather than later. We’ll just have to wait and see what Rodgers’ plans are for this very gifted defender.

Forgiveness,

In most matters statistics are indicators not absolutes to rely on them entirely is misleading.

Nobody knows anybody which gives this forum great credibility in my opinion. The things I say here I cannot say with my name attached to it without causing myself a whole heap of trouble if not downright litigation.

Forget the stats. Some cold facts Klopp has limited contact with Ilori relying on reports from the U23 coaches. Liverpool fc training ground at Melwood is probably 7/8 miles away from the Kirkby training ground of the academy. So unless he proves himself credible and capable na U23 he go dye rotten.

You may think I don't know much, because I am anonymous. But I do match and player analysis and I have seen Ilori play live several times. And for me he was well packaged. He simply not good enough for Eagles, end d tory.

Forget Stam you don't know what went on to make the deal happen and or the clauses and intricacies of the contract with the appended payment terms. I remember when Wenger was conned to buy the useless Francis Jeffers the rest is history. Stam buying him for £10 or £10 million doesn't make him good this is football business.

He has been well over taken not by one but by several teenagers who were literally in thier nappies when he came to Liverpool. Sorry to say but as Igbo man go say, leave matter, Bad Market

By the way spent the last week at PSV infact still here now, one of Stam's former clubs you could say the club that made him and with a few of thier coaches and thier approach is quite interesting with regard to these matters.

One other matter Villa where the whipping boys of the premiership last season and of the FA cup by championship sides and even lower. Basically Villa were Rubbish last season and deserved to go down and they are know where near to coming up lying 17th in the championship and 6 points off relegation.
I started following Tiago Ilori when he played as RB at Sporting Lisbon. I even saw some of his games and what I saw then, formed the good impression I have about him.

I think that was what Liverpool saw before putting pen on paper.

Remember, Sporting Lisbon was very good that season and the next two seasons, they almost won the league. That was the same team Tiago Ilori broke into the first eleven at a very young age.

Now, you said packaging, if Tiago Ilori was thrash, why did Granada and Bordeaux played him regularly when he was available? grin

A player who excelled in the Portuguese Liga, Spanish Liga and Ligue 1, must have the gut and quality to had excelled.

Abi dat one na packaging? grin

I know Klopp was the one who personally recalled Tiago Ilori, Sheyi Ojo and some players from loan last season and Tiago Ilori trained with Klopp several times, he featured Tiago Ilori in 3 FA matches. So, I know Klopp knows Tiago Ilori.

Maybe the physical aspect of the Premier League doesn't suit his hence the limited opportunity.

We have seen Adebayo, Lescoth etc played in their clubs U23 teams. grin

Do you know that Stam was in charge of the Ajax team defence that won the league and Dutch cup? grin

Weather injuries caused him to miss the greater part of the season or not the bottom line is that he has been on a decline.
It's just like praising Abou Diaby for having a good season which he only played 8 games.

Of course he is a professional footballer, if he does not have abilities, he should be flipping burgers at Mc Donald's.
Or working as a customer care rep at the mall.

The question I raised about his abilities arises from the fact that Jurgen Klopp does not even fancy him good enough for a bench role in the first team when he recovered from injury.
You cannot give the excuse that Klopp is not a youth friendly coach. Already this season players as young as 18 and 17 have made the Liverpool match day squad.
If Thiago was so good, why didn't he make any appearances for that rubbish Aston Villa side who conceded goals like it was going out of fashion?

If na like this you dey teach, non of your students will pass Primary school entrance examination grin
hahahahhhahha! e don shif goal post from Bordeaux to Liverpool. grin

The bottom line is, Tiago Ilori had a successful season at Bordeaux. Unlike your false assumption. grin

I no bi teacher but atleast, you don learn, Tiago had a successfull loan spell at Bordeaux. grin

How much you go pay me for dat one, na?

Well let's say I know zero, absolutely nada like you said about football. But it's obvious you're doing a damn wack job teaching me football by trying to make me believe playing 12 games in a football season represents having a good season.

In my limited football knowledge I know the Aston Villa team of last season were the worst side ever in the Premiership. A side which could only manufacture just 28 clear cut chances all season.
A side which conceeded 65+ goals all season?
Thiago Ilori for all the love you show him could not make 1 appearance for such a team is depressing to say the least.

For someone who claims to know football to rate this kind of team is absolutely shocking to an olodo like me grin

Prove to me that Bordeaux wanted Thiago back but he preferred signing for Championship side Reading.

I challenged you to name CBs whom Stam have trained to stardom, since you want to play the all knowing Japp Stam card but you haven't or you couldn't grin
Teacher no teach me nonsense grin

So, you where expecting Aston Villa to go on relagation at the beginning of last season after buying Jordan Ayew, lescot, Adama Traore, N'zobia etc for huge amount of money? grin Just tell us you are a prophet and I go surrender. grin

Is Stam once the best defender in the world? grin

D0 you really care to know why Tiago played 12 matches and made the bench 6 times? grin

From what i have deduced from your comments, you are tryiny to falsely say that Tiago was not good enough, that was why he played only 12 matches but you are absolutely wrong.

When you analyse football, you have to consider many factors to give an accurate account of what really transpired in an event.

In this case, the first question you are suppose to ask yourself is, why did Tiago Ilori play only 12 matches and made the bench 6 times?

From this question, comes the second question, when did he arrive the club?

Then, the third and fourth questions should be, is it because he is not good enough or is it because of Injury?

I hope you stylishly learning, my Oga? grin

Now, let me answer the second, third and fourth questions for us to diagonise and arrive at the first question because without answering these, you can't arrive at the first question.

Now, when did Tiago Ilori arrive Bordeaux? He arrived on the 17th September 2014.

Meaning, he arrived a week after the 2014/2015 season commenced and on the day Bordeaux played their second match of the season. When did he then got to play? After just 3 matches. grin 2+3= 5 matches ......He missed 5 matches already.

Remember, the total numbers of matches played was 38. 38-5=33 ........

hmmmm! I know you are eager to ask, then, Why did he play 12 matches, and made the bench 6 times?

This question will now lead us not to the second question, is it because Tiagol Ilori is not good enough or because of injury? grin

Very simply, It is simply because of injury and not because he is not good enough. grin

After his debut match, he was on the bench for the next match but played on the third with a goal that gave his club a point. grin

After that perfomance na ga wa dey play dey go. grin But, unfortunately, it did not last more than two matches, he got injured on the second match, on the 27 minutes against Riems, on the 3rd 0f October 2014. That was his 4th match, after his arrival, and Bordeaux 10th match of the season grin

The injury ended on 28th of November 2014. grin When he came back to make the bench on 30th Septmber 2014, he had already missed 5 matches. grin

If we sum up the 5 matches he missed before and after he was transfered with the 5 matches he missed due to injury, it becomes glaring that he missed 10 matches due to some situations beyond and not because of his inability to play wella. grin

Now, let us subtract the whole matches of the the season from the 10 matches he missed due to some situations beyond him. 38 -10= 28

That means, he was left with 28 matches. Subtract 28 matches available from the 12 matches, you will get 16 matches. shocked grin

I know you are chanting, eeehn...eeehn! grin coolu down. I will take time to explain.

After the injury, by the time he came back, he met a winning team.

You don't chang a winning team, na. grin About 7 matches were played during that period. He was dressed for 3 matches, but he was not dressed for 4 matches. Pls, be informed that he played 3 CDF matches during that period. grin

Substract that 4 matches he wasn't dressed from th 16 matches, you will left with 12 matches.

substract 12 from the 6 times he made the bench, you will get 6 matches. You don't expect the coach not to rotae his team.

Why was ne not dressed for 6 matches? shocked shocked shocked shocked grin

Sorry, injuries, i AM AFRAID WAS THE ISUUSE AND NOT HIS INABILITY. grin

Since his loan spell at Bordeaux was so successful why did Liverpool confine him to their U23s when he came back?
Why didn't he make a single appearance for a rubbish Aston Villa team?
Why didn't 19 other premiership managers consider him good enough to get a look in? Who wouldn't want to have a world class centre back at just £3M?
Why didn't Bordeaux come back for his services since he had a lovely time out there?
How many CBs have Japp Stam discovered and turned into world class?

Questions, questions, questions grin
Obviously, you don't know anything about Tiago hence the rounabout talk talk. grin

Firstly, you alluded he did not have a successful spell at Bourdeaux and he didn't get more than 700 minutes of game; Your assumptions are preposterous.

Now, you are alluding once again that he was bundled from Bourdeaux straight to Liverpool U23. This is also preposterous. grin

The facts showed that he was loaned to Aston Villa that played in the Premeir League last season, and don't tell me you expected Aston Villa to be relegated after all the spending at the beginning ot last season. shocked

It seeems you don't follow football, right? you are calling Aston Villa Rubbish. Seriouly, you don't know nader about the Premeirship. Sorry, no offence intended, just stating the obvious.

Why he didn't play was due to injury and Liverpool recalled him back the season finished last season. grin Meaning he don't stay there throughout the whole season. He featured for Liverpool afterwards. grin

How many Super Easgle defender worth 500k pounce? grin

Why he didn't go back to Bourdeaux is simple because he loves England. That's all.

When did Jaap Stam start coaching for him to have done so well i the Championship? grin

You can never discredit his ability as coach because you wan prove point.

Coaching and managerial career[edit]

In 2011, Stam became an assistant coach for PEC Zwolle, a position he held for two seasons after Kieron Hogendoorn vacated the role.

Following his stint with Zwolle, Stam took a three-year contract with Ajax as an assistant coach, and as defensive trainer starting in the 2013–14 Eredivisie season.[15]

On 13 June 2016, Stam was appointed as manager of English Championship side Reading on an initial two-year contract.[16]

Of all the clubs in the Premiership, no one thought about getting this quality defender at a bargain price of £3M, it is Jap Stam in the championship grin grin

Remember, those 12 appearances at Bordeaux included sub appearances. If you want me to dig, I can pull out his data and I can bet my last card he no play more than 700minutes put together grin
Do you know more than Jaap Stam who saw his quality before buying him for the club record fee? grin

Why you con dey do yourself na? 90*12= 1080 - 1017= 63 MINUTES .

He started 12 matches and finished 11 matches. We can see he only missed 63 minutes out the 90 minutes due to injury he sustained in the first half. That was the only match he did;t finish. grin

As you can see he played beyond ya expectation. grin

Bayern Munich Join Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton In Race For Nigerian Whizkid

Published: February 19, 2017

Bayern Munich Join Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton In Race For Nigerian Whizkid Bayern Munich have entered the race for the signature of England youth international of Nigerian descent Dominic Solanke, with the striker set to depart Chelsea in the summer.

The German champions are facing stiff competition in their bid to lure Solanke to Bavaria, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton also interested in his services, according to the Daily Mail.

Sunderland, West Ham, Rangers and Celtic have also been credited with an interest for the Chelsea striker.

If Bayern Munich were to steal the Super Eagles target from English Premier League clubs, he will be offered an incentive-laden contract.

Dominic Solanke and his advisers have demanded 50,000 pounds a week before extending his contract at Chelsea.

Oga, Thiago Ilori made 12 appearances for Bordeaux, subs included and later made Zero appearance for Aston Villa while on loan there.
Weather you admit it or not, it doesn't chance the fact that Thiago Ilori has been on steady decline over the past few years. And he currently, he does not have the chops to replace any of our CBs.

It's quite shocking and totally desperate of you to put this guys name in a list of Super Eagles probables when his form has been patchy and his Nigerian heritage is down to his grand father's since his dad is British and his mom Portuguese.
Why did he he make 12 appearances for Bourdaeux? grin

How can I can agree falsehood when I know the truth?

There is nothing shocking and desperate about this issue. If he is not good enough, why did Jaap Stam(once the best DEFENDER IN THE WORLD) grin sanctioned his move to Reaading fc, a club at the verge of getting promotion to the Premier league? grin

Well Robben had a successful Chelsea career, if not for injuries he would have done much more but his performances were at least enough for Chelsea to make about 120% ROI.
He was bought for €18M and sold €35M. You can hardly put his situation to Ilori which Liverpool recorded a 50% loss grin grin

If his loan spell at Bourdeax was successful, Liverpool would have been mad to push him to their glorious U23s. grin

Omeruo already had a decent spell at the Championship, if he fancied staying back in the championship,he would have. I reckon Besiktas and celta Vigo put in a bid for him.
Which decent club considered Baresi Ilori? grin Reading of course for a whopping fee of 3M grin

His age mate Ndidi moved from the "obscure" Belgian league to Leicester for 15M. grin
hahahahah! grin @bolded suggest, you never followed football event and that is why you just assumed his spell was not succesful at Bourdeaux. After his spell there he was recalled to gain experience in Premier League with Aston Villa and not Liverpool U23. grin Today na Sunday ,no dey lie.

Middlebourge or wetin dem dey call had the option to buy Omeruo but back out because he flopped.

Why Celtic Vigo and Bekista no buy am? grin
