Travel / Re: Erosion On Ozubulu Road In Nnewi. Soludo's Attention Needed. by Fortunatus200(m): 8:52am On Sep 18, 2023
We need to draw our attention to the Local Government council Authorities as well.

Not Every little thing we beacon on the state government, allowing the LGA councils to live a full life of unchecked squalor. They neither do projects, remediate little shortfalls as this nor do anything.

I wouldn’t engage or support a state Governor to begin to concern himself with things as little as this.

There are much more a Governor should address and concern his office with, we can’t afford to reduce them to errand boys for every shortfalls.

Politics / Comments On Wike : Obaseki Is Ungrateful. by Fortunatus200(m): 11:23am On Mar 14, 2022
I read with great displeasure the statements made by His Excellency Godwin Obaseki of Edo State against His Rivers Counterpart His Excellency - Chief Barr. E N Wike and wish to say that such statement is no less than a display of envy and ingratitude.

While it may be true that E N Wike is a member like others of the PDP, it is also not disputable that he have overtime displayed uncommon capacity and can be said to be the only PDP Governor who understands the role of an opposition party to the government at the center.
Thus his proactivness to national affairs and his random robust activism cum victory both politically, judicially and otherwise should not be mistaken for overlordship nor as an attempt to Personalize the PDP.

It is notable thst many a times, the bold and outspoken disposition of Wike has turned things around in the general interest of the masses, the events of the new Electoral Act is apposite of this.

Moreover, there is no gainsaying that the Governor attempts to personalize the party as anyone who feels so can equally show cause why attention should be drawn to him.
This I suggest Obaseki and his team can do by being proactive, innovative, performing the business of Governance to their electorates and judiciously using the wealth of Edo state to develop Edo.

One may even be tempted to ask, how many times has Edo under Obaseki's watch hosted the Party Affairs?, How many times has he openly condemned the many ills perpetrated by the Federal Government? Not to talk of Carrying out people's oriented projects.

The undisputeable fact remains that EN wike is a strong voice in PDP in all force.

Again it appears that Gov Obaseki has forgotten so quickly how he secured his second term bid.
It is too early to repay such kind gesture with acrimony and evil.

In all, it is time for the PDP to be united in other to displace the unskilled head at the center. I feel that the much that is needed now is projecting the party to victory in 2023 and not the business of fault finding.

Long live PDP
Long live Rivers State
Long Live Nigeria.

SEASON GREETINGS

It's another Christmas .
A season when love extinguishes hates and Charity destroys greed.
A period of genuine Love, perfect reunion, unshaken hope, uncommon charity, and sumptuous Celebrations.

A season when friends and foes dine and wine in gratitude for the common Gift of Christ.
A time of self examination, collective hope, and universal Salvation.

A season that brings us (friends, brethrens, colleagues, neighbors, siblings etc) together regardless our differences, unites us together mindless of our griefs, and restores us together inspite of our frailties.

Remember: Christ is the Reason for the Season._

Nairaland / General / Calsan Commisarates With Families Of Tollgate Victims Calling For Resilience... by Fortunatus200(m): 8:57am On Oct 23, 2020
CALSAN COMMISIRATES WITH FAMILIES OF TOLLGATE VICTIMS CALLING FOR RESILIENCE IN THE MOVE FOR A BETTER NIGERIA.

It is no Longer news the recent developments on the attacks and heinous massacre of innocent peaceful protesters at Lekki Tollgate - Lagos State, the wanton breakdown of law and order in the various fractions of our Nation including Oyigbo & Diobu Port Harcourt, faulks Rd - Abia State, Abakalike - Ebonyi State, Owerri- Imo State and many other parts of our nation in total disregard of the sacrosanctity of Right to Life and Peaceful Assembly/protest as enshrined Under Chapter 4 Particularly S. 33 & 40 CFRN.

We at CALSAN, wish to condemn in strongest of terms this devilish act orchestrated by unguarded and ill fated elements teleported towards distorting and disrupting a genuine course.
We lend our voice to say ENOUGH OF THE KILLINGS!

A Biblical Pericope has it that when good men keep silent evil is bound to prevail, hence we once more wish to register our undivided support to a peaceful protest of #EndSARS and SARS tendencies carried out by our govt representatives at all levels.

We likewise register our candid condolence to the families and friends of victims as well as to all Compatriots who are so affected by this unjustified gruesome murder of our owns.

It is against the backdrop of the forgoeing that we make the following appeals:

1. We call on fellow youths for whom there could be a tomorrow, to remain committed, dogged and resilient to our primus call for a better Nigeria by deploying all legitimate and reasonable arsenals within the confines and limits of our Laws, so as to avoid anarchy, chaos and inordinate exposure of others to danger, while achieving our United goal.

2. We equally wish to remind our dear Protesters that this is a United course for which all to the exception of few are committed into, hence we entrust our protest & voice against a common enemy of corruption, nepotism, official looting, systematic disenfranchisement and technical enslavement of the youths; set in motion by Bad Leadership.

3. To the International Community, Nigerian youths wish that you may understand our current plights. We can no longer wear this shoes of sorrows, anguish and ruthlessness, hence we appeal that you swiftly swing into salvaging the situations, for we the true "People of Nigeria" who are so affected by her daily rots would not consider it as an usurpation or undermining our Sovereignty as an independent people.

4. We call on the Grand Commander of the Nigerian State, the various Heads of Security Agencies to expedite actions to uncoving those behind the shody killings of Nigerians and to also make bold the moves towards Restructuring, Reforming and Revolutionizing towards a better and brighter NIGERIA.

5. We also want to register our regrets, disappointment and dismay towards abrupt failure of our govt to act beyond words in restoring & ensuring that the security and welfare of the hoipoloi as contained in S.14 (b) CFRN 1999 is guaranteed.

We are tired of the anti-peoples policies, the indirect ceding and reliance on foreign loans, the daily widening gap between the haves and the have not, the loopsided nature of Governmental powers and we demand for:
*E - Economic Reform
*N- National Constitution Reform
*D - Debt Accountability
*S - Security Reforms
*A - Anti Peoples policy cancellation
*R - Restructuring
*S - Save cost of Governance.

Hence, we are dedicated to the pure course of remaking the Nigeria of our dreams devoid of Sentiments, for it is time to Discuss the purpose of our Corporate Status.

Long live All Nigerians of Goodwill!
God bless the course.

Nairaland / General / End SARS Tendencies; Catholic Law Students Protest by Fortunatus200(m): 8:24am On Oct 19, 2020
#ENDSARS,

The Recent Demonstrations on the #EndSARS, #End-Police-Brutality Protest, widely graced by a gazillion of resourceful and productive Nigerians across all shades of life, ethnic lines, Political affiliations, Religious beliefs and ideological divergences sends a tripod signal of an inevitable/impending Revolution, Reformation and Restoration in the Nigerian State.

Nigerians have by this singular act expressed our grievances and readiness to cease and protect our future against that which threatens her common unity and emancipation.

For the first time in decades, the sacrosanct and unwavering right of peaceful protest as preserved by intl treaties, statutes and international covenants as well as judicial decisions have been fully assured.

However for all intent and purposes, the recent protests epitomizes the willingness of Nigerians to revolt against visible and foreseeable official malfeasance cum adminstrative misfeasance of the government, with the qualifying clause of - " if only the Government could guarantee such right of peaceful Demonstration, devoid of intimidation, harassment, and suppression through its Servants, agencies, privies and cronies.

Recent writers have observed, and I hold no difficulty in agreeing that the #EndSARS Demonstration is a microcosms of the larger problems and conundrum currently rocking the Nigerian Nation.

The EndSARS jostle is a one way of venting our long endured acrimony and reservations against official wickedness and adminstrative bewitching, cascaded by the Bourgeoisie cadre against their proletariat counterparts.

It is however pitiable that the members of the Special Anti Robbery Squad unit of the Nigerian Police Force have aligned themselves in the position of the Biblical "Judas" to test the power of mass action and the authority of the man in the Clapham Omnibus, thereby temporarily shielding the ills of their bigger grandmasters whose acts/inactions constitutes greater threats to our common survival. For this I empathize with them for they are better christened as "Defunct".

Our protest is for an End to SARS and SARS Tendencies in the general security Architecture of the Nigerian State.
Our protest is for an increased and formidable security structure, imbued with intelligence report, forensic and periodical security training and orientation as well as proper equipment of the men and their welfare.

Our protest is for the respect of our inalienable and immutable Human Rights guaranteed by the Divine and merely recognized by the statute book,
Our protest is against government insensitivity, political recklessness and heedless leadership,
Our protest is against unemployment, nepotism and corrupt practices,
Our protest is against hunger and penury,
Our protest is for improved health care, quality and qualitative education, as well as a permanent nostrum to ASUU Strike.

Our Protest is for everything and against anything most unbecoming.
There are weighter matters that begs for mass action/ attention, to them we will attend to, but first:

[#EndSARS
#EndPoliceBrutality
#EndASUUstrike
#EndBadGovernance.

We are ready to re-write the Precedent and chart a novel cause for a BETTER NIGERIA.

*⚖️⚖️⚖️JUSTICE FOR UWAVERA-OMOZUWA.*

Yesterday, 1st June 2020, I read with a heavy heart on BBC news, how a promising First Year, female Microbiology Student of University of Benin, - *Uwavera Omozuwa*, who in her quest for knowledge and efforts to utilize this seasion to cover up some hip lock of academic works, was sexually assaulted, emotionally molested and gruemously murdered in cold blood, by some unscrupulous elements.

I could recall vividly of being taught in my 200L that the right to Life, is the parent right, on which other rights are circumscribed. The fullness of which must be tenaciously upheld in line with the dictates of not just the Constitution or other legal instruments, but also of all known Religious and Holy books, including our African Traditional Religion.
This becomes even the more important with regards to the personage in question.
Late *Miss. Uwavera Omozuwa* was until her horrendous death on 31th May 2020, a University Undergraduate, whom Obasike JSC Speaking in GARBA v. UNIMAID beautifully described as a priceless assert, who is in the threshold of useful service to the Nation.

To me this is only a glimpse of the position a University student occupies in the heart of his nation.
He is in addition a beacon & glimmer of hope, as he is an irrefragable ambassador, training to Facilitate the course of Nation building, not just for the interest of interim generation but also for the next.

Moreover, This event was said to have taken place inside a Church, which goes to infer, not only a total disregard of human life and dignity, but an ultimate attempt and act of disecreting the sacrosanctity and sacredness of the Temple of the Divine.

By all standards, the act of rape is a crime mala in se cum mala prohibita, consequently, it offends all known statutory enactments, both municipal and international. It is such that should be visited with the highest penal consequence, not only because it is frowned at by our human laws, but also because it has no right standing before moral and religious commands. *S. 359 Criminal Code and s.282 Penal Code.*

The senseless, unjustified and barbarous act of malicious killing is rather becoming a culture and a normalcy in Nigeria, receiving little or no condemnation by the members of the society.
In this light, the right to life is greatly undermined and in a quick track of loosing it's supremacy, value and hallowed pride of place.

One may want to juxtapose, the forgoing murder of Miss Uwavera, with the most recent killing of an African- American - *George Floyd*, which has flooded the entire global news Space, triggering massive and aggressive protest and better further leading to riotings, all in a bid to sue for Justice on behalf of the deceased.
Pathetic enough, in our own stead, fellow students have rather chosen to embrace frivolous ends to that of forging a common voice in demand of Justice for one of our own.

Thus, I want to use this medium to register my empathy, as well as to call for the reawakening of that spirit of true Compatriots, comradeship and solidarity- as Justice anywhere is Justice Everywhere.

We call on Govt at all levels to swiftly swing into actions to bring the perpetrators of this horrific and heinous crime to book, rather than the current "I don care Attitude", with more interest in enlarging the contents of the purse and pockets, by planning to Garner resources for the next Elections at the State in question.

Security Operatives are as well encouraged to collaborate with relevant individuals to Speed up investigations, as the world watches your acclaimed expertize.

Nairaland / General / Hate Speech Bill Is Anti Society Said Nigerian Law Students (LAWSAN) by Fortunatus200(m): 3:38pm On Nov 23, 2019
THE HATE SPEECH BILL IS ANTI MASSES

The Law Student Association Of Nigeria(LAWSAN) notes with concern the monstrous anti-hate speech bill before the National Assembly which prescribes death penalty among other harsh penalties. It is saddening that despite uproar and condemnations from the public, the bill is said to have passed a second reading now. It appears that the National Assembly whose membership rose to power on the back of the social media is bent on foisting a law on the unwilling and horrified citizens.

Suffice to say that there are laws on ground already to deal with hate speech or fake news. Section 24 of the Cyber Crime Act is very clear and unambiguous on how fake news and hate speech can be dealt with. The Criminal Code and the Penal Code are replete with sections dealing with unfounded rumors. There is also the civil remedy option of libel in court.

The draconian anti hate speech bill which the National Assembly wishes to pass is unjustifiable and a total misplacement of priority. It is an attempt to gag the masses. It calls for concern that the National Assembly disregards corruption which is the cancer that has eaten deep into the fabric of Nigerian society but chose to go after the citizens.

It is a known fact that freedom of expression is not only a constitutional right, but a God given right which was restated by the Supreme Court in *Ransome Kuti V AG Federation* to be antecedent to the society itself. Furthermore, section 22 of the constitution says that the mass media, including the social media, should hold the government accountable to the people. How possible would that be in a circumstance where the citizens are gagged?

LAWSAN hereby joins forces with the citizens to cry out against such anti people bill and calls on the National Assembly to bow to will of the masses and do the needful by doing away the bill.

Signed

Nairaland / General / Let Us All Reaffirm Our Allegiance To Nigeria – LAWSAN President Urges. by Fortunatus200(m): 9:56pm On Oct 01, 2019
Independence Message from the President of the Law Students Association of Nigeria

I felicitate with fellow LAWSANITES across the federation on this auspicious occasion of our country’s 59th independence anniversary. This day every year, reminds us of the fruitful struggles of our heroes past. It also inspires us to serve our country and raise our flags of peace and endeavour higher.

October 1st represents a focal period in Nigerian history, and each anniversary is an ideal time to take stock of our achievements and progress as a nation. I believe that LAWSANITES have every reason to celebrate considering our resilience and tough spirit in the midst of challenges as Nigerian youths. There is much to remind us of our capacity to achieve excellence and change. This year’s Independence day should serve as a call to our generation, a day for renewing faith in our country regardless of whatever conflict; religious or political that we face. As LAWSANITEs, we have a duty to contribute our quota to building the prospective Nigeria which we desire.

Today, I employ us all remember the valiant fight for independence 59 years ago fought by the founding fathers of this great nation. Let us use this auspicious occasion as an opportunity to unite and generate solutions to our common challenges as LAWSANITES and as Nigerians.

Contrary to popular opinion, Nigeria has made certain strides in the time since October 1st 1960! Let us reflect on our achievements with pride and hope, believing that despite the roadblocks, obstacles, setbacks and despair, the collective efforts of dedicated; patriotic and hardworking Nigerians have laid a foundation on which we can build together, a brighter future for our country.

The future of this nation is dependent on the commitment and patriotism of our people; our dedication to service of our fatherland and efficient use of the abundant human and natural resources bestowed on us by God.

[2:45PM, 3/2/2017] FORTUNATUS: OBJECTIVE:
To contribute to an easier and faster advancement of the citizens/ members of the online communit, by offering sevices that are result oriented and also by helping you get acquainted with the latest developments in the world of technology.
[3:25PM, 3/2/2017] FORTUNATUS: PREAMBLE:
As is popularly know, the world is advancing into a global village, where different people from different background and origin can meet and make successful transactions for the benefit of the parties involved.
However, it is so pathetic to note that with the current level of growth in technology and Internet advancement, more than an estimate of 60 per cent of the world population expecially in the African continent, still remains in the dark age of manual and stressful ways of doing things.
It is of no doubt that most jobs/scholarship etc applications are now done online, without the applicant seeing or meeting with the other end.
The movies we watch have grown beyond the realm of slotting cassettes, which most a times causes cracking and other malfunctions of the system. We now have a stage where you can subscribe for movies and other TV programs and watch them at the very comfort of your home .
Again, the world particularly our present age is gradually growing above the realm of physical learning which might bring about inconvenience to persons of distant abode. Now we hear and witness the e-learning mode of education, where a person resident in Nigeria can be taking lectures from an European or American University.

Nairaland / General / Where Is Your Morality? by Fortunatus200(m): 11:49am On Mar 06, 2017
I'M JUST THINKING OUT LOUD.

THE BIG BROTHER NAIJA SHOW.

There's a notorious programme currently going on called THE BIG BROTHER NAIJA. The winner of this notorious show is expected to walk away with a whopping N25 million and a breathtaking car. All that is required to win this show is to be Live with a bunch of fellow crazy, irresponsible people, do all sorts of immoral things, and, viola, you're the winner.

Next thing, you're called a celebrity, winning big advertisement contracts and becoming the face of multinational companies.

If only there could be an educating version of this programme. If only they could house some intelligent people in like manner and make them compete for similar prizes. But, no! Our people do not encourage sanity. Our society promotes evil over good, indecency over decency, immorality over morality, and ungodliness over godliness.

The best in Mathematics competitions will go home with either a carton of cowbell milk or Indomie noodles, ridiculous stipends and laughable prizes. Yet these morons in BBN will earn millions for coming to suck breasts, speak thrash, display nudity, and get under the sheets on International TVs.

Our rich individuals, companies and corporate organisations will spend huge sums of money sponsoring dirty shows like BBN and Beauty Pageants where they will enthrone satanic activities, display nudity, molest our under aged girls, and make them win on bottom power rather than on real beauty and brains. Can anyone forget the Anambra State born Chidinma Okeke saga in a hurry?

What a wasted generation! What a time! How do we raise, nurture and produce the next Chike Obis, Chinua Achebes, Wole Soyinkas, Cyril stover, Apostle olatunde Adekunle, and yes, P.O.C. Akorefes? What foundation are we laying for coming generations? What message of hope and legacy are we leaving behind? What epistle are we sending to the future to testify to it that the past made some level of contributions. Is Immorality the legacy we really want to hand down to the next generation? Are we not losing our minds?

Let all people of goodwill come together and raise alarm against this dirty programme. Let us all with one voice and in unison say, "We've had enough of this nonsense." Let us blow the trumpet in Zion and declare war on these encouragers of evil tendencies and promoters of these demonic programmes targeted at our highly impressionable youths. We should see that this programme is replaced with a more intelligent and educative programme.

Nigeria is broke morally and financially, yet the sponsors are wasting millions of Naira on a highly immoral programme. Please what is the lesson that one can learn from this Big Brother show? What can our YOUTHS pick from it? I know this kind of write up doesn't get many shares. But if we keep quiet, then we are silent conspirators.

So share. Share until a thought process is provoked in the heart of everyone and we can stand up to say, Enough of this nonsense."

SAY NO TO IMMORALITY

OBJECTIVE:
To contribute to an easier and faster advancement of the citizens/ members of the online community, by offering sevices that are result oriented and also by helping you get acquainted with the latest developments in the world of technology.
PREAMBLE:
As is popularly know, the world is advancing into a global village, where different people from different background and origin can meet and make successful transactions for the benefit of the parties involved.
However, it is so pathetic to note that with the current level of growth in technology and Internet advancement, more than an estimate of 60% of the world population expecially in the African continent, still remains in the dark age of manual and stressful ways of doing things.
It is of no doubt that most jobs/scholarship etc applications are now done online, without the applicant seeing or meeting with the other end.
The movies we watch have grown beyond the realm of slotting cassettes, which most a times causes cracking and other malfunctions of the system. We now have a stage where you can subscribe for movies and other TV programs and watch them from the very comfort of your home .
Again, the world particularly our present age is gradually growing above the realm of physical learning which might bring about inconvenience to persons of distant abode. Events / Philio Not Valentine! by Fortunatus200(m): 2:19pm On Feb 13, 2017
"PHILIO"
This is the session when the world celebrates love, which it is yet to define.
In discussing this very important concept, it is worthy of note that love originates from God and not from man.
The word love owns its origin from the Latin word "philio", and is generally perceived to mean a feeling of affection towards fellow humans or towards other created things. However according to Williams Shakespeares " Othello", particularly in the words of Roderigo, love is "merely a lust of the blood and a permission of the will". This definition when critically analyzed can be said to capture only the love of the world ( the Eros love) , and not the primacy of love as intended by God.
Everyday I see humans profess love as it has come to be and not as it ought to be. The love of the world sees a purpose for its existence and as such, it vanishes as soon as that purpose goes into extinction. But the love of God (divine love) as provided for in the book of john 3 exist naturally on all created things, especially on man. It has no purpose attached to it and as such cannot vanishe, that's why even in our sinfulness, God still loves us.

The love of the world is characterized by lust, wealth, popularity, beauty/handsomeness, color, learnedness etc . But the only xtics of the love of God is righteousness, that's why he gave up his only son for our salvation ,so as to bring us all irrespective of our color, race, riches or other worldly vitiating elements.

So let us learn to love ourselves , just as God have shown us . I ❤ U!
