princesa: Its either most people take the competition very trivial or they just don't care.

I mean, Spacing and paragraphing was emphasized at the start, yet some didn't pay heed or try to pay heed. (no excuse, cos some writers actually spaced!)

Would have thought some of 'em would do a crash course with Google and get a better perspective of what a short story is all about. But sadly, I didn't see the tell tale signs on some stories... I mean its just a click away! Foresight people, foresight!

And what is it with brackets and side comment. Me thinks it ends up trivializing the work, why not use the dash (-) parenthesis for anything that must be said aside, or better still let the bracketed words flow with the overall narration. How can you describe a character in a bracket! Jeez.

And really, spellings shouldn't be defended here, seeing this is a competition that allowed some space of time for the writers to work on their piece, typos should be a no no! Maybe bad sentence construction and misplaced tenses here and there can be overlooked because not everyone know the rudiments of the English language, but spellings should have been corrected, this is a competition for real. Even if isn't wasn't a price, what about the prestige guyz! Ain't that worth a fight?

And why would anyone use text message English, abbreviated and all! ''cox'' ''omg'' really huh

Some people seem to take this thing for granted, that's what i still think.

A short story should have a complete theme, telling a story from beginning to end.

Phew, I hope subsequent posts would get better. sad
I love you too...

"Officer stand down"

A harsh voice shouted. I could see the trouses of flow getting wet.

"Flow na piss be that?"

"No na my saliva"

He fired back, i would have laughed but the fart coming out from my anus was enough to close my mouth. We turned to see who saved us and we came face to face with the General.

For someone with a huge voice we never expected to see a very short little man that owned it.

"How are you boys?"

The general asked us, as they female assasin who nearly killed us saluted him, the eyes which she looked at us made us salute quickly.

"We are fine sir"

"Attai, you sure say na the man be this?"

Flow wispered.

"No, no be him na my houseboy"

i wispered back.

"You boys are lucky that i was taking a stroll and saw you guys, but am sure you were well trained so that would have not been a problem. Lets go inside".

We followed the General as Flow walked like someone that had been struck by epilesy, his legs were firmly pressed together like his baggy trousers were super glued.

"Grrrrrh"

Two huge artasian dogs growed at us immediately we entered the General's well endowed compound.

I wanted running but i looked to see what flow would do, i saw him increasing the rate of urine on his trousers.

"Flow, piss no dey finish for your prick? Abi you know wear pampars during childbirth"

"E go finish when fart finish for your yansh"

He countered back, that was when i farted a loud one that made the dogs silent.

Or would i say the fart made the dogs dillusional and even the General stood still for a second.

I wanted releasing a trilogy of hot fart but Flow held my ar'se firmly to prevent any air leakage.

"Was that a sound of gun firing?"

The general asked.

"Sir yes sir". We answered like the soldiers in the movie 'Full metal jacket'

"Ok lets go in"

The dogs had kept quiet, maybe they were trying to prevent my horrible fart smell to penetrate their nose, or so i thought. For once i thanked the mama put we ate from before coming, atleast her food works wonders.

"Make your selves comfortable boys, am coming to see the stuff later"

The palour we entered was the most spacious i ever saw, i wondered if this was how soldiers got enough money or was it another business they did to gain all this wealth.

"Attai"

"Wetin?"

"This chair soft o"

"And so you think say na that abgero house you dey?"

"No be that one, i no wan dirty the chair"

Then i remembered that Flow had been busy downloading urine on his uniform, i smiled.

"Thank God say na only mess, i mess atleast e no fit stain chair"

I crashed on a comfortable soft chair and i almost fell asleep immediately. Flow stood at my back like my bodyguard. He was only trying to cover his trousers so he had no choice.

"I hope you boys made yourselfs comfortable"

The general said as he came down from the stairs with his pajamas or nightgown as we africans know it.

"And you why are you standing?"

He said pointing at Flow.

"General, he is my bodyguard"

I said proudly.

"Attai you dey mad, if no be say i piss, i for show you wetin happen for 1975" flow wispered to me as i smiled.

"So where is the stuff?"

It dawned on us, we had left itin the car.

"Oya Bodyguard go carry am come"

"You dey mad,i resemble your mate, with your oblong head. Na you make soldier woman decieve your fish brain so you go carry am"

Flow wispered at me angrily as he went to seat down not minding whether his urine would stain the chair or not.

I got up reluctantly and excused myself. I wanted running back but since i had stood already and we had gone this far in the mission. I choosed to finish it expectantly.

Now how i go take pass those devilish dogs, then i remembered my farting formula. I walked outside as the dogs started their usual growling.

"Poowuwu"

That was the sound that came out of my anus, the first dog just fainted immediately as the second one ran for his dear life as the aroma of my ar'se wonders chased him.

Am sure if TB. Joshua was there to see me, he would have made me one of his wise men or so i thought.

I went to the car and raised the seat where we kept the substance up, i was about grabbing it when a cold soft hand grabbed my shirt at the from behind....

HBG... Your ego is just getting in way of your reasoning. Editing after submitting an entry? Even if this should be the maiden edition, we need to get things right from the beginning.

Now I know why you refused including me in your judges. You want people who will buy your idead but I tell you this... Ishilove will not. I know her too well. It all boils down to ethics and professionalism.

Drop your ego, correct yourself and all will be well.

Another thing, the competition have started, the first 2 submissions are superb. Pointing out Fibre's mistake did not make her change it. She already knew how things are don.

HBG, come down from your high thirsty horse.

Ishilove: I am strongly not in support of writers editing their submissions. For heaven's sakes, we have twenty-seven competitors. That translates to twenty-seven stories. I have a very demanding day job and there is no way in God's green earth that I will go back and start rereading twenty seven stories that have been edited. I won't even have the time to start looking out for changes. Once I read a submission, I take notes and move to the next. If I have to go back, I will only skim through without reading it with the the same focus as the first time.

This is a competition for crying out loud!! If people start editing their entries then what is the whole point of the competition? huh

Someone just spoke many of our minds. HumblebyGrace, I like you o so I'm not gonna hurt or deflate your ego.

God knows I prayed for this episode more than for my life.

First of all; its my Fault that Omolola came last, I 'forgot' to send her the link to this thread, I realized my mistake when I was going through emails.

Secondly, the judges are just trying to help writers, nobody is forming captain.

Thirdly....kindly help me take my horse to the river for a drink, I can bet on my life that its thirsty.
I will overlook that.

Don't you think that since she is not aware and she received the mail kinda late, you could have informed her of your desire for her to be a judge in subsequent editions?

Please be professional about this. The good thing is you realized your mistake and corrected it by writing. DO the main correction by dropping Omolola from the list of judges. Select a new judge that has been following this stuff from the onset. This is not fair on the writers.

I know how many of them dey seek for my professional advice grin grin

Oahray: Foxy behave na sad
Oahray, see, I don't have anything against her but I was frustrated when I read all those many things that she wrote down. And then to think that two judges who are supposed to communicate with each other via PMs wants to start a showdown of who is of greater knowledge when it comes to literature.

I don't care if they both are moderators, this is the literature section.

You were given notification and you did not drop anything to help the writers. You see 2 works and your brain start boothing. You want to show the world that you have ideas. Abegi!!!

Where was Omolola all this while? Why did she have to show up today? Was she not aware that she had put the first two writers on a disadvantageous position?

All these and more questions are burning through my mind.

I answered you because of the way you scolded me. See HBG wan form commando for my head.
