Not only Ibadan. Oshogbo, abeokuta, ife, ondo, ekiti, ijebu, oyo town, etc all have one thing in common: preponderance of mud houses with rusty brown roofs.

Until she can compete with the likes of Oteh, Okonjo and Obi and uncountable other Igbo ladies at the international level, she remains a local oduduwa champion. Why not let's see her CV? We know FBN is a yoruba bank, so no biggie.

Fine. that's all i wanted to the know and all you said also confirmed that Oyinbo's and Ndigbo's are also found in Ibadan Neighbourhood. tongue
IITA is not your "neighbourhood". It is locked up and secluded from your people. Only staff snd residents have access.

Besides, there are really no impressive architectural masterpieces at IITA, just well maintained environment, great labs and farms.

Speaking about forests, there used to be very dense forested lands between Udi and Oji River from the old road. Are they still there? Also, lots of them along Enugu-PH road

Is IITA in Ibadan?
Yes, but not built nor managed by a Yoruba or by NIGERIA. Indeed, it is an oases in the midst of the poverty and brown roofs of Ibadan. BTW, the highest ranking Nigerian ever to work in IITA is an Igbo man who was the DDG, Prof Okigbo.

I read an article comparing IITA and UI. The article discusses how they were at par, infrastructurally speaking, in the 60s and early 70s. Today compare and contrast.

There are no longer any forests left in Igboland. However, you are 100% right. People should plant more trees and flowers. Especially in urban areas. Someone had actively been planting pine and palm trees along most road medians in Enugu. Hopefully, they are allowed to grow and transform the ambiance of that city.
We do need more trees and flowers planting campaigns in our key cities. It is often a crucial but ignored aspect of development
Lots of forests in Abia State between Umuahia and Bende and the boarder areas with Akwa Ibom

Old news. We all know that SW is the natural home of human rituals and ritual-induced human kidnappings. Have you ever wondered what gbomogbomo means? This is something that was rampant in SW even before Igbos started wearing diapers. Before Igbos starting migrating to SW centuries ago, such barbaric acts were not found in Igboland. The early Igbo migrant returnees brought it into Igboland. Thank God it has gone back to it's owners: SW.
PoliticsRe: Do First Class Monarch Exist In South East..? by Francis5: 12:53am On Sep 05, 2015
First class king is in the eyes of the beholder. What is first class in the op's village would be 5th class in Igbo land. The UK has a first class monarchical family, the US has none. How has that raised any issues? Stupid low life Op.

The op is a local village champion. In this 21st century, your Yoruba oba is MORlBUND and must eat human flesh. That is barbaric culture.

Adding state of origin makes this a mediocre resume. Who cares about your state of origin except you are talking about a govt job, for which in fact you really do not need a resume to land.

Plus, a glimpse at your Facebook page by an employer could spell your doom, even when a content was only shared, and not originally posted, by you. It is unwise to add a Facebook identification to a resume. Ever heard of LinkedIn? It's more professional

Well, this is not current news, just posted it because each time such heinous crimes occur Nigerians tend to get on with their lives as though nothing serious had happened. Were it to be in saner climes, the parliament would have passed a law in her name in memorial of her. The worst thing is that I read that those arrested in connection with this murder have all quietly been released. So in essence she died in vain while discharging her duties as a teacher.

An angry mob of Muslim students in northern Nigeria beat their teacher to death on Wednesday for allegedly desecrating the Qur’an, police and witnesses said.

Oluwatoyin Olushekan was attacked and killed by the mob in Gandu Secondary School in Tudun Wada district, northern Gombe state.

Her attackers accused her of tearing a portion of the Qur’an she seized from a female student during an examination.

Bashir Dikko, Gombe state police spokesperson, said: “There was an incident today [Wednesday] at Gandu Secondary School in the metropolis in which a teacher was lynched by some students who also burnt her car and set three blocks of classrooms ablaze.

“The school principal, who is a Muslim, sustained minor injuries as he was also beaten by the students when he tried to shield the woman from her assailants.”

Police are still investigating the cause of the incident and have embarked on a 24-hour patrol, especially around the Tudun Wada area, the spokesperson said.

Dikko said eight people have been arrested over the killing and the state government has ordered the closure of all secondary schools in the metropolis to prevent the spread of the violence.

A neighbour of Olushekan, a nursing mother, described what happened.

“From what we learnt from the staff in the school, she was invigilating an examination on Islamic studies when she caught a female student engaged in a malpractice and seized the paper she was copying from and tore it,” Badamasi Aliyu said on the telephone from Gombe.

“A student who was standing by the window shouted ‘Allahu Akbar [God is great],’ telling other students that she had desecrated the Qur’an, and this led to the attack that caused her death. It was a cold-blooded murder,” Aliyu said.—Sapa-AFP
