Roger that!

Thanks for ur contribution, Boss!

amdman: The days of undertaking just about any IT course are past. Any IT course you take now must be what is relevant but missing in the local IT scene.
For example, it is not enough to be good at Cisco. Move further into other specialisations such as Certified Ethical Hacking, Certified Hacking Forensic Investigator, etc. Those skills are still largely lacking in Nigeria, and as we develop further, those skills will become more and more relevant.

I don't believe our reporters and newspaper ooo. I read about an incident that happened in my area in the paper, their was 92% discrepancy with what actually took place. It either the reporter was high on something or someone gave him a false account and he wrote it like he was there.

let's just wait and see.
That reminds of a festival that took place in my villa sometime ago. The festival lead to a crisis but no one died.

I was like OMG when I read on vanguard that 10 people died n many more were injured.

TheManofTruth: My dear - I am not so sure you know more about this God we talk about. Since you quoted James - it will be better you read the book of Job properly and you see what conversation took place between God and Satan concerning Job - Get to know the story of Job; okay? it's useless quoting the Bible out of context just to satisfy own goal.

Thanks
K bro!

Maybe the writer of James was wrong about that!

But I still feel "allow" is a more appropriate word here. Especially when one considers the case of Job.

Lovine: Is there any true child of God in the house? Have you ever had an accident, challenges or any problem? Count it all joy the Bible said. James 1:2
Read also, (Luke 13:3-4) . . .. 4 Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in Si‧lo′am fell, thereby killing them, do YOU imagine that they were proved greater debtors than all other men inhabiting Jerusalem? (he was saying that the fact they died a horrible death didn't mean they were bad, or worse than everybody else, obviously. it just happened.)

God may use physical evil for a higher purpose: to test us and prepare us for glory (1 Peter 1:6-7, 5:10, 2 Corinthians 12:7-9), or to make us more compassionate (2 Corinthians 1:3-6). The suffering we endure now will be more than compensated by the glory of eternal life (2 Corinthians 4:16-18, Philippians 1:21-23). Physical evil is one means God uses to accomplish His work on earth (John 9:1-3). It is very difficult to see any value in pain, suffering, loss of a loved one, disability, etc. However, these temporary evils are insignificant on the time scale of eternity, and they may just be a testing and preparation for better things to come.

Despite all this, the reason for most physical evil is simply unknown to us. Sometimes, we just have to put our trust in God and accept the fact that we can't understand why we have to suffer (Psalms 23:4, 31:7, Lamentations 3:31-33):

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts." (NAS, Isaiah 55:8-9 )

GOD ALLOWS WHAT EVER HE WANT. Don't blaspheme because of what happened, be careful it may happen to you, who knows. Don't play a saint here, some good Christians and Muslims were killed by Boko Haram, did you know why? Be careful.
God uses evil?

If yes, how are my sure that the next evil He is planning is not to take my life or the life of a loved one?
What then differentiates such an "evil-using" God from Satan?
N how are my sure that the bible is not one of his numerous evils?
I will rather stay away from such a God!

N why did the Bible say this; "when under trial, let no one say: 'I am being tried by God.' For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone" in James 1:13?

PERMIT ME TO ASK THIS AGAIN, DOES GOD USES EVIL?

spartanian: Nice meeting you too bro, the NOUN programme doesn't offer practicals except if you practice it on your own. They just give you materials which you read and prepare for test and exams, but students do come together to organise tutorial lectures and maybe practicals.
Will advice you to go for it while at the same time learning other professional ICT courses you are interested in. You don't need the PGD as a prerequisite for the telecom course because they said they teach their students from scratch not minding what educational background you have with 3 month practical internship inclusive.
Thanks Bro!
Please one more question, how flexible is the program (PGD)...I mean timewise?

Can a 9-5 worker do it successfully?
CareerRe: A University Degree Without A Career Path. by franconian(op):

The NOUN PGD, how is like? Are u guys into the practical aspect or just the usual theory thing? Would you advice me to go for it? Is the PGD a prerequisite to the Telecomm course? Please do well to answer.

I feel it will be a good thing if u can go to India for that cert....Good luck!
RomanceRe: On Why The “Beautiful” Ones Are Still Single… by franconian:
GRAND30: "Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised" (Proverbs 31:30). If you are beautiful and still single when you should be married in reference to your age, something certainly has reduced your chances. What could that be? Your personality is most likely culpable. Good-looking people (not excluding our dandy males) usually promote, invest and pride in their physical appearance while doing little to improve their skills or develop personal traits. Unfortunately they become stranded at crucial points in life when physical appearance means almost nothing and comes far behind real skills and acceptable personality. OP, only if you are not part of this society called Nigeria or Africa would I encourage every overdue beautiful single girl to grab solace in your motivational counsel. Otherwise...it's a lantern without flames in a dark tunnel.
Lastly, as for beautiful singles who should be married already based on their age, I'd advise you sober up, peer into the past, review wasted proposals, purge your personality of excesses, let your physical beauty come second behind your inner beauty...and say a little prayer to your Creator! Expect another golden chance afterwards.
Well said Bro!

Let me translate this from my language...."Before wild yam go know say e na bush yam, my people, day go don dark". Many of them don't usually listen to advice when they should.

I have three as neighbors. They are triplet. They should be in their mid or late thirties. They are so beautiful and their dad is one of the wealthiest here. I was surprised when I came into the area to find these 3 beautiful wise women single. I always wonder why they were still single but not until two months ago.

I don't greet them much cos they rarely greet someone n when u eventually greet them, they give u a very weak response....So it happened on that day, one was strolling down the street to get fuel ( d gas station is not far off) while I was coming from the opposite direction at the other side of the tarred road. I was lost for a moment when I heared " aaaiiiss, come go buy me fuel" with so much insolence. I was like WTFhuh....I jeje waka/cross go meet her,the mumu con dey give me gallon and money. I cleared my throat and said...." this is probably the reason y u r still single, U don't have respect for people". I turned n walked away. After walking for almost a minutes, I turned to look at her, she was still standing at that very spot where I left her - looking dumbfounded. I was like...good for u!!!

In their own case, too much money might have played a role, but I have found out that generally, beautiful ladies exhibit too much pride (not vigour, not verve) - that very thing that pisses men up.

I have read every of your comment on this thread n I have learned a lot, you seem very experienced in IT stuff.

I created this https://www.nairaland.com/1890050/university-degree-without-career-path thread some days ago. All my plea with the MOD to take it to frontpage so that people like u can c it has fallen on deaf ears. Though one or two persons have made important comments.

Please, kindly go through my thread. You have said a lot here already, but I believe you will have one or two things to say to me after you must have gone through my thread. I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you very much for the effort you put into typing all that!

jamalee: For instance, if you have Cisco Certified Network Associate(CCNA) and Ordinary National Diploma(OND) with discipline in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any other related course...
CCNA: I can/will go for that. But for an OND in CS, CE, or any other related course, how do I possibly get this? I actually wanted to go for PGD in IT offered by NOUN (National Open Unive...), the form is currently on sale. Can this be a substitute for the OND stuff? Considering that OND will take 2 years and this will take just 1 year.

jamalee: But if they insist, you just leave them and concentrate on something important to you; which is your Future Partner or Girl Friend by catching fun with her(laughs, laughs,...) because they are not ready for business.

jamalee: You can start web designing for corporate bodies, software for corporate bodies, application developing, etc. If you want ideas on application development, tell me here on this platform.
Yeah Boss, I do.

jamalee: You can equally post your contact number here , so that I will be able to call you and talk.
I am actually searching for a mentor. I will prefer to send it via email. How about that?

jamalee: At franconian, you are a man. Don't let anybody decide for you or dictate for. Leave the toga and do whatever sails your boat because you are going to put food on the table for your family; nobody else will help you with that. Now, if you want to take a career in IT, it's very easy and simple. All you have to do is to get a good Laptop, smart phone with high sophisticated features, a good modem or broadband and some little cash in your pocket. If you don't know anything about Computer before, take a course in Computer Appreciation from any Computer Training Centre around your area, or better still download a free manual on the internet. If you can't, tell someone to do it for you for a measly fee. This option will come cheaper for you than enrolling yourself in a Computer Training Centre. Because you will learn at your own convinient space and time. After completing the Computer Appreciation stage, from there you can move on to any level you want in IT. You learn programming, Comptia N+ i.e networking, Comptia A+ i.e engineering. There are different organizations that are offering professional courses in the IT Industry. Some of them are Microsoft, Oracle, ISACA, CISCO, etc. There are many courses you can go for under these organizations. For ISACA, I don't know know much about because they're still a new Company in the IT Industry. But I know they offer Certified Internal System Auditor(CISA); this CISA is a very fine course, you can go for it because it is still new in the IT Industry. You can google them and find more about them. For Oracle, you can go for Oracle Certified Associate(OCA), Oracle Certified Professional(OCP), etc. For CISCO, you can go for CCNA, CCNP, CCVP, CCIP, etc. You have many options to choose from to become an IT Expert or Consultant. To cap it all, know how to design a website, because it is an hot cake in town now. And also, you should also learn hacking, software development. The sky is your limit. Welcome to the IT World...
Bro thank you very much!

I will look up those certificate courses you talked about.

I have a good laptop n all those basic stuffs. I know basic html and CSS as well. I was learning php and java with the videos I got from thenewboston.org but I ran into problems when my "XAMPP control pane" and "eclipse" started misbehaving - I am trying to fix them. The problem is when I have problems with my softwares, I have no one to help me out. I enrolled for some courses on coursera but many of those courses require at least a basic knowledge of Java.

That aside, I was told that for people (companies) to take me serious in the IT world, I will need a masters degree in addition to my many certificates along side work experiences.

As for a masters degree, what is your take on this?

As for the work experience, how do I get this? Where should I start from?

It's your life, tell him what you want, If he is not supporting you, be a man and find your way. I have a friend in Osogbo Osun state with this kinda situation, his father is one of the rich people in the south west, this friend is an IT guru but studied Agric Sci in the Uni. After graduation he wanted going to University of Liverpool for Master's in IT course, but his father insisted to be Agric course again, he declined, and decided to be on his own.
Today, he has many clients only in Osun state not to talk of other states that am aware of, and to top it all, he just bought himself a new car ride, so my point is, if you believe in yourself, follow your heart and chase your dream.
Bro thank you very much!

My Dad has reluctantly agreed, thanks to mum (woman get power ooo) grin. But the problem now is the very program to go for? He is like "Which program are you going for then?". I want a program that can give me a good certification and a practical knowledge as well. Unlike your friend's freind, I don't have the resources to go abroad. So, where can I get such stuff in Nigeria?

Can I get the contact of the guy (ur friend's friend) u talked about?

CareerA University Degree Without A Career Path. by franconian(op):
The above heading should be a good summary for my case.

I Graduated 2011 from a fed. Uni. (Life Sciences), But till this day, I still ask myself what this degree is really for. In retrospect, my admission to study this course was incidental.

I have this passion for computers and the IT world in general, and I want a part in it. But I just don't know the aspect to channel my resources to get a rewarding career path.

My Dad wants me to go for masters in biochem, but I am not sure if that's what I want. And now that PG form is out, the man nor wan let me rest!

I want to start a career in IT now before it's too late. My predicament now is, at 24 what career path could I possibly take now in IT? Are there any professional course(s) I can take? Can I possibly use my degree as a stepping stone in postgraduate studies in this field?

I want to further my education (outside biochem), but if you suggest a learning program that does not involves the "normal" PG stuff, I will consider it still. Someone Advised me to go for NOUN PGD in IT but I feel this will be a case of little or no practical - as it involves distant learning.

Please I am asking for your candid suggestions?

I went out yesterday without boxers. My intention was just to get something at a shop near my house...but I met a frd who pleaded with me to follow him to a distant area. Forgetting I an going commando, I followed him.

On our back, I met my ex (not really a breakup, she travelled out for too long) at d junction were we were suppose to board keke. Damn, she is looking yummy, sexier n her skin was something else - glowing. I let out my arm to shake her, her hand was so warm (maybe because the weather was cold).

While holding her hand, my JT sprang up. I immediately deep my left hand into my pocket to control it but it was too erect.

She was like she lost her former line, that she checked on me- but I have packed out of that area. The discussion would have been longer- ending with me inviting her over. But with the way Junior was behaving, I quickly ended the conversation N walked away.

I don enter keke b4 e enter my mind say I for collect her new number, the struggle with junior overwhelmed my mind...My mumu friend who noticed my struggle con dey laugh me self!

I will never go outside my house without boxers again.
