Hi guys, which Canadian bank account can I open from Nigeria as an international student applying for study visa and deposit my money into?

This is not relevant and personally, I wouldn't advice you to open a Canadian bank account and transfer funds just to prove to an officer that you're capable of funding your studies in Canada. You can have your funds in your Naira bank account or domiciliary account in Nigeria and be successful with your application.

Hello beautiful people. Can I get Post Graduate Work Permit with a 1year PGD course?

And how easy is it to change my course on getting to Canada?

Thank you.

You can certainly be granted a 1year PGWP should you have completed a one year course in a DLI in Canada.

Changing of courses or DLI can be done outside and within Canada. All you need is provide proof of enrolment in the new or current DLI you're transferring to, proof of tuition payment and acceptance letter. Log into your MyCIC account and initiate the transfer of courses or to another DLI.

The guru in the house, please help a sister o, my application got refused on May 30 and my gcms is out. Was denied based on financial and personal asset, also home tie.
I used a third party sponsorship who is in Canada ( my Aunty)
For the home tie my family is not going with me,and it was stated in my leave letter that i am coming back. what again can i use.

I regret to hear about the refusal of your study permit. The responsible immigration officer is not satisfied about the plausibility of your sponsor to finance your studies in Canada. As a result of this, this further raises concerns with respect to your personal financial establishment in your home country. Notably, being sponsored by a third party who is resident in Canada also weakens your ties back home. My professional advice would be for you to be self-sponsored or better off get a sponsor that is closely related to you to be your guarantor.

Thank you very much sir. It will indeed end in praise.

Please I have a question. Would the primary applicant and dependent be required to evaluate their certificate or just the primary applicant?

Thanks

It's advisable that both couples evaluate their credentials and sit for the IELTS inorder to improve their CRS score and be in a position to receive ITA.

488 CRS score! Are you serious? Please jump into the pool as you will most possibly be nominated in the next draws. Start gathering your documents and get prepared. This is exactly what I'm saying, a lot of persons on this platform qualifies to become a permanent resident of Canada without knowing. Please don't miss out this opportunity, its a very straightforward process. You can be pursuing both immigration programs (study permit & Express Entry) which ever that clicks, you move with it.

Greetings my fellow Nairalanders,

It's indeed a great pleasure to be in your midst today. I wish to bring the attention of the public towards the FSW & CEC Express Entry Draws that is set to resume tomorrow being on the July 6, 2022. As many of you already know, this is Canada's major immigration pathway and is few hours away from a full resumption. The country is expected to see an increase in the number of newcomers over the next few years. This entails that potential immigrants can finally approach their immigration plans with a great deal of optimism through this route.

It would be an amazing idea if you guys could also explore this route for there are many on this platform who don't know how to navigate their way through this immigration pathway of becoming a Permanent resident of Canada. If I take the time to assess the participants (both active and passive readers) on this platform, you all will definitely see that over 55.5% of individuals here qualify to become a PR but undivulged to them due to lack of rudimentary knowledge about the whole process. Some see Express Entry stream as a difficult one, hence focusing all their energy and attention to study permit.

It is relevant to say that while you're pursuing your dream of studying in Canada, you can also explore other immigration streams like Express Entry, for it is also feasible to be an international student and have your PR before graduation. This will be at your own benefit as your exorbitant international student fees will be slashed/reduced to that of a Canadian citizen.

As clearly stated on IRCC immigration regulations and manuals, - having 2 intents (1 for temporary residence and 1 for permanent residence) is legitimate, insofar you can demonstrate that you will depart Canada at the end of your authorized stay as required by section R179. On this note, you can have both Study Permit and Express Entry profile running concurrently!

Don't waste more time! Let this piece of information be an insight and eye opener to the smart ones here especially now that the borders have finally reopened. So, you can be in a position to receive an ITA through EE stream.

Use this link: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp to calculate whether you meet the basic eligibility criteria for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).

1. Proof of funds
2. Education Requirements: Get your credentials evaluated by WES,
3. Language Proficiency - Have a good score in your IELTS exam by scoring 8,7,7,7 and
4. Show proof of work experience. At minimum, you need at least one year of skilled work experience within the past 10 years that will match your primary occupation in your immigration application. To get the full 15 points, you need at least six years of eligible work experience. Having only one year of work experience will get you nine points. Two to three years is enough for 11 points, and four to five years equates to 13 points.

Having said all of the above, I wish everyone the best of luck in their pursuit for a brighter future in Canada.

Hello everyone,

I need urgent advice. I just got admission to Canadore College and I am to pay the admission deposit very soon. However, I really have not seen the school mentioned here much. Does any one have any comments or knows anyone that got visa applying with the school?

Thank you.

You can't go wrong with Canadore College, the institution is not just a DLI but has a good admittance for international students. I'll encourage you to carry on with your plans by applying for Study permit with the school acceptance letter.

Hello great people. Please I have a question. Is it possible to change school upon arrival? That is if one obtains visa here with the admission letter of a school and then upon arrival, switch to another school

It's very obtainable to switch to another program and Institution to another within Canada. However, prior to initiating this process, you must have a confirmation of enrolment/acceptance letter from the new DLI you intend on transferring to and payment of tuition fees. Its a simple process which can be done via your regular MYCIC account.

Hello house. I was denied a visit visa in 2020 and I declared then that I was running an MBA program., even attached my admission letter. Now with ASUU strike palaver, I'm thinking of dropping out and pursuing a PGD in Canada. Is there a need for me to mention in my SOP that I am have dropped out of the MBA program. The reason is that I don't know if my previous file would be revisited when I apply for study visa. Kindly advise.

Truthfully declare that you've a running MBA program which has come to a halt due to the ongoing ASUU caused by Nigerian lectures.

You can certainly apply as a family while you take advantage of the fact that you've a one year old son who you can't leave behind in Nigeria and would need the presence of your husband in Canada to be with you to provide support: emotionally and financially.

Hello to everyone in the house. Please I need this advice. If one is in the university as an undergraduate 200 level., should he declare that he is in a post secondary school study? Or keep silent about it in his visa application? Thanks

If age is still on your side, you can apply without including the psot secondary study since you don't have the certificate/transcripts.

This is not absolutely correct.

If you're self sponsored for more than one year program, you need to either show proof of fund for the entire duration of your studies (since you're not relying on the 20hrs/week work allowance to pay your fees) or you can show very convincing proof of source where the remaining year of study will be funded from. It's just a rational requirement.

Don't tell us someone has self sponsored and showed one year fund before. Such person might just be one of the lucky few with very lenient VO.

I wish everyone awaiting approval here success. For the ones that their applications were 'delayed', you'll definitely get there if only you don't give up. Keep pushing!

You're absolutely right!, this is one of the mistakes most individuals make in their respective applications. I remember I have addressed this question long time ago in 2016/2017 when we had to argue it amongst ourselves on this platform, the thread was bubbling then LOL grin grin.

For clarity purposes and for future readers:

"If you're self-sponsored, you're expected to show proof of funds for the entire duration of your program in Canada. Only on the account are you being sponsored by someone can you declare proof of funds for the first academic year". Please ladies and gentlemen on this platform take note of this and make the most of this advice in your application.

Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit
application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet
the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and
Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.
You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can
demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be
accompanied by a new processing fee

How do i address this refusal, house pls advise. Was refused today applied Feb 28th.

I regret to hear that your study visa was refused, how were you able to establish your ties and personal financial establishment in your last application. Did you include documents like, property documents, proof of source of income from employment/business etc.

The visa officer wants to be reasonably convinced that you possess strong holdings in your home country that is possible to compel your return home after studies. From experience, this is one of the easiest refusal reason if you submit additional information/documents that will demonstrate the fact that you've true intentions of seeking a Canadian study permit.

1. For someone who is going for a bsc program and hasn't paid tuition deposit or fee and is using parents as sponsor, how much should be d minimum closing balance of their account?

I advice undergraduate applicants their sponsors should declare a bank statement with a closing balance of 17MILLION Naira. This amount is adequate to cover up for the student's first year tuition and living expenses in Canada

Hello good day everyone.

Please gurus in the house, I need your contributions please,

1. Is it compulsory to pay school fees before applying even if sufficient money is in the account?

2.If I don't pay do I need to mention when I will be making the payments in my sop?

Please I need contributions,I will really appreciate it
Thank you

See my responses below:

1. Tuition payment is not compulsory is not stated on your acceptance letter to do so.

2. The funds should appear in your sponsor's account/your personal account, you have to explain to the officer that the funds is available and can be utilised at any point for your tuition, living expenses and other miscellaneous expenses during the course of your studies in Canada.

The above advice is applicable if you're using your parents or self-sponsorship. On the account that you're using a third party sponsorship (Uncle, aunt, or company), your guarantor will be required to pay certain amount to show commitment for your education in Canada and prove to the immigration officer that you will have full access to funds.
