Faced With Severe Criticism, Sanusi's CBN to Donate to Madalla Christmas Day Bomb Blast Victims

After the avalanche of public criticism the CBN faced after NaijaPundit and other media broke the news that the CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, had donated 100 million of the CBN's funds to his home state of Kano to help victims of the Boko Haram attack on the state, the CBN has just released a statement that it plans to extend a similar gesture to the victims if the Christmas day bomb blast at Madalla.

According to the source, the apex bank had already contacted the leadership of the Madalla church and got an appointment but it was rescheduled to accommodate the itinerary of the CBN governor. The donation to the Madalla victims would now take place next week.


But many see this as an after thought from Sanusi. They claim that the Madalla bomb blast occurred some time before the Kano attacks yet Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi did not deem it fit to assist the victims but rather chose to assist victims if his home state of Kano and only decided to assist the Madalla victims after the public outcry to his 100 million Naira donation to Kano State.


Nigerians had reacted with anger at the news that Sanusi Lamido Sanusi had caused the CBN to donate 100 million to his state when there had been Boko Haram attacks in other states without the CBN offering to assist those other victims. Many felt that Sanusi was being parochial by assisting his own people.
Some pundits pointed to his interview with the Financial Times of London where he had complained about Kano State not having enough funds while states in the Niger Delta have "too much money". This Sanusi said was a major causative factor for the Boko Haram insurgency.


Perhaps it was an attempt by Sanusi to redress what he sees as the lopsidedness of the distribution of Nigeria's revenue that he decided to give his own 'Boko Haram Derivation' to his home state.


Niger Delta activist Annkio Briggs was one of those who felt that the attempt by Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to justify the Boko Haram insurgency by blaming it on the derivation that goes to the Niger Delta was outrageous. According to Annkio Briggs, "what does Kano bring to the table for Nigeria to share?"
But as it now stands.

A Nigerian man has been convicted of raping a woman while she slept.

Kadiri was said sneaked into the woman's bed in the middle of the night after being rejected by another woman with whom he and his friend had been having a party.


During a trial at High Court in Livingston the 29-year-old victim gave evidence from behind a screen in closed court.


Judge Lady Stacey deferred sentencing for social work reports.


The court heard the rape took place at a house in Livingston, West Lothian, in November 2010, after the woman, an Edinburgh office worker, had been on night out for a birthday celebration.


She admitted she had had well over 20 drinks and had gone to bed very drunk.


During the night, she woke to find a man lying on top of her. She told him to get off her and pushed him away.


She contacted the police the next morning after realising she had been raped.


During the trial, the jury heard forensic evidence that Kadiri's DNA matched samples taken from the woman's body.


Another woman, the householder, said she had invited Kadiri and his friend Bola Sodimu, 37, back from a nightclub at 03.00am.


She said she had sex with both men but then had a “lightbulb moment” and told Kadiri she wanted to take his friend, who is also Nigerian, upstairs.

People who don't believe in God get nothing when they die, if they are right. People who do believe in God get nothing if they are wrong. People who don't believe in God have a serious problem if they're wrong, whereas people who do believe in God get heaven if they are right. I think logic says God is the safer bet. One has from nothing to real bad, the other has from nothing to real good. Do the math on that.

I guess I'm stupid. But I believe in God. Even if you don't believe in God, and you think Jesus was just a man. You can't deny that this one man has had a profound impact on billions of people over the last 2000 years. Who else can you say has had that much influence on mankind. And he is still revered today. That many people can't be wrong. And all he was trying to say is love each other, and love the Father that put us here on Mother Earth.
