Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have kidnapped about eight persons in Port Harcourt, Rivers St forate.

The kidnappers struck around the Port Harcourt International Airport Roundabout, Omuagwa and whisked away the said number of people.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening along the Obiri-Ikwerre-Airport Road.

It was gathered that the criminals had blocked the left flank of the road from the airport – about five minutes’ drive away from the airport roundabout.

It was learnt that all the victims were moving from the airport axis to the Obiri-Ikwerre area before they were attacked by the bandits.

It was also gathered that over 10 cars were involved and that those who were unable to escape the scene were picked.

One of the victims who escaped the kidnap, Emmanuel Biira, noted that three people were whisked away from his car and that one of them was shot in the head before being taken away.

Biira, who narrowly escaped the attack narrated that the incident happened not too far from the airport junction and that occupants of over 10 vehicles were involved in the incident.

He narrated: “Not too far from the airport junction en route to Obiri Ikwerre flyover, I ran into an ambush along with about 8 to 10 other cars. We all saw the kidnappers shooting and we reversed to head back to the airport junction but we were surrounded already back, front and all around.

“People jumped out of their cars to escaped and some were shot or apprehended. I jumped out to run but there was nowhere to run to and at that moment, the Lord showed me a car, spoke to me and said “enter under this car”. I obeyed.

“How can a grown man enter fully under a Honda salon car that’s not jacked up without his body been seen? But because I heard His voice, that became my saving grace. Three kidnappers walked past me, dragging a man, one entered the car I was under to off the engine because the car was on.

“I’m alive together because of His mercies and covenant of protections over His children. My wife would have been a young widow if the bullets had hit me. My young children would have been fatherless but God said No. I’m grateful to Him alone. Thank you Jesus.”

Social media influencer, Reno Omokri, has urged President Bola Tinubu to ban sports betting apps in the country.

According to Omokri, a ban on sports betting apps could even help improve the value of the Naira.

The media influencer expressed his views in a series of tweets shared via his X profile on Wednesday.

The former Special Assistant to erstwhile President Goodluck Jonathan stated that an average Nigerian spends “$15 daily on sports betting and other types of gambling.”

Omokri noted that despite the high rate of gambling in the country, the “vast majority of that amount” is leaving the shores of the country into foreign nations, compared to the nation’s externally generated revenue.

“This is scary. How much is our GDP that we are pissing it away like that? More money is leaving Nigeria through gambling than is coming in,” he wrote.

Omokri cautioned., “The Naira can never sustain its rally under such circumstances.”

The tweet stated further, “There is such an epidemic of gambling in Nigeria and it is destroying Nigerian youths. $1 billion is spent on gambling daily in Nigeria, according to the National Lottery Trust Fund. Please fact-check me.

“The average Nigerian spends $15 daily on sports betting and other types of gambling, with the vast majority of that amount leaving our economy and going to places like Russia, South Africa, and Europe. The Naira can never sustain its rally under such circumstances.”

PUNCH Online reports that the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Zephaniah Jisalo, said the Federal Government would find a lasting solution to the friction caused by revenue generation in the gaming sector.

Jisalo noted that the FG “will do all within its statutory powers to ensure the gaming industry remains on the steady path of sustainable growth and development,” while speaking at the 2023 International Gaming Conference held at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos State, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

The Fund’s Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Bello Maigari, appearing before the House of Representatives Committee on Finance on Monday, November 20, 2023, stated that the Fund, in 2023, generated N2.5 billion, noting however that the entire sum had been spent in the execution of various projects across the country.

The money, he said, was generated from statutory remittances from licenses and permit holders.

Are you African? Being first daughter means that from an early age, as soon as you can walk and talk, you start contributing to the household by running errands and doing chores. That in itself isn't a bad thing but it's quite common to see the male siblings treated preferentially(little to no errands/chores) and if they're older, double wahala. You know the whole respect your elder shit. So from an early age, getting punished for things your siblings don't even do can be damaging to the psyche. Then the child grows into a traumatized adult with self esteem issues and low confidence. Because the only love/attention she received growing up was directly proportional to how useful/helpful she was. And you tell this kind of person who obviously needs some form of psychotherapy that her current situation is a culmination of her choices. Yeah, she definitely chose to be born and to be treated like a slave. Even if you didn't have this kind of experience growing up, would it have killed you to be empathetic?

For some days now I have been on a serious dilemma whether to resign from my federal government job that pays me above N200k for my current position and migrate to the UK or stay in naija and set up a business to augment my salary. So today we discussed, she told me everything that has been happening and what they said . We have been very, really happy in the relationship and we're dating to marry.

We are both in our final year of university, and we've been in the relationship for one year, and I really love her, and she loves me too. But due to her family decisions, I didn't actually try to fight or go against her family decision or prove anything to them. I was like, okay, it's better that she listens to maybe they understood better or have their reasons.

And also,I told her even though she listens to them, she should not allow them to ride her into making bad decision. I told her that, okay, it's fine, I'm going to leave you for you to have peace of mind, and also peace of mind from your family, so you will not have any kind of hatred towards me or her mother resenting her or me. Because if I try to prove stubborn or anything you know how mother's and relatives can act out,So I decided to grant her request of breaking up

So please, what other opinions do you guys feel like I should have given or gotten?
