thepoweruser: Y'all have to understand that every phone has it's strengths and weaknesses. Transsion's main selling point in Africa is their after-sales service and the fact that they understand the African market. Now, let me explain. Many of us here on Nairaland are old enough to remember when Tecno first started manufacturing Android cellphones (I think it's in 2012, when we had the Tecno N3. Who remembers that phone? ) I still recall Infinix's first phone, though, the Alpha (?) What I'm trying to say is that it's all about brand recognition. Trust me, I know how good Xiaomi's phones are (damn, I can't wait to see the Mi Mix 4 or whatever they go'n be callin' it! ) but they have one big issue in Nigeria. Some of you here are vehemently against Transsion (howdy, skywalker ; hi, sunshine ; hey, where's drjprince?! ) and I perfectly understand. I've been on Nairaland as a guest since 2017, and I've been reading all your posts. I know firsthand how unimpressive Transsion's phones are, both spec-wise and through using them. For instance, I once used an itel A56. DAMN, THAT PHONE MADE ME HATE BLOATWARE! ALMOST 40 APPS PREINSTALLED ON A PHONE WITH .16GB of storage! And performance, even with Android Go, was bad for me , because stupid itel went to slap a heavy skin on top of an already light OS. I've also used Infinixes (Hot 4, Hot 5, Hot 7 Pro), Tecnos (Camon C8, Spark 4) and a Gionee (S10 Lite). Thanks to my budget, I couldn't get anything better. That S10 performed the best, but I had to sell it. (Damn brokeness). Currently into KaiOS, cuz I can't stand lag. Two seconds' keyboard delay can drive me insane . Haven't used a Xiaomi; the only one I've actually seen in the flesh was a Redmi 7A and I had to pinch myself to be sure I wasn't dreaming). You see? Not many people I know even know what Xiaomi is (hell, they can't even pronounce it! ). I've known Xiaomi ever since 2013, when surfing the web I stumbled upon the Redmi 2. If you go to a lot of stores in Nigeria, you hardly see anyone with them. In Ikorodu, where I live, I wanted to get the Redmi Note 5s, but no store there had it. I had to buy the Camon 8 as a stopgap but the staff at Demmy Global; damn, they wanted me to buy it and I urgently needed a phone. The phone's battery ended up swelling after eleven months. I guess it was my fault ( hey, I said I'm a power user, nein? I was playing PPSSPP and charging the damn thing all the time ). And on Jumia, they ain't goin' below #50K. You say Aliexpress but I don't wanna wait three weeks to get a phone that Jumia would deliver in four days. It's kind of like in the US; you wanna buy an LG or Xperia flagship, you gotta look for it. And how about servicing it? Repairpal? If I bought a Poco X3 (incredible value phone) and it so happens to fall (I'm a careful guy with phones that don't piss me off, but accidents do happen, yeah?) how am I gonna fix it? Order the screen from Aliexpress? I guess I could, but the average Sule doesn't want to go through all that stress just to fix a phone. That's why people left Symbian, BlackBerry and Windows Phone. Wahala boku for dis kontri, why add to it? TL:DR: I hope you understand.
This so on point. I think Transsion understand what they want and how to get it and that is their strength
psucc: This is the most honest post on NL in recent time.
That lagging and hanging is same here on my Tecno Pop. Worst, I followed Tecno on Twitter, posts some screenshots of the issue, and asked if there could be a way out, but till now, no response not even acknowledgement.
I discovered that Tecno and Infinix phones are products of the same company. I give up on both phones.
The Pop is a low end phone. It was made for light users. And if you are a heavy user, you wont really enjoy it
Altrarecords: Although I use a Samsung now but I once used an infinix for 5 years and the worst thing that happened was charging port problems and some battery changes that's it
So I say you are wrong
I think it is all about how one can use their phones. I have used a tecno for 4 years and a nokia for three before changing my phones
Marvel6233: Alright, so here is my review of the Tecno Spark 7P after so many weeks. I go talk about the Pros and Cons of the phone. Let's start with the Pros...
The smartphone gives you the 90hz refresh rate experience at a budget price of just 60k. So for someone who has never used a higher refresh rate phone before, the Tecno Spark 7P is cheap for you to purchase. At least make you for still join the list of those wey don use a phone of 90hz refresh rate for the country. Thanks to Tecno!
Also, another good thing is that the smartphone is powered by a gaming chipset "MediaTek helio G70 ". It is OK for a phone of this price.
The battery too de very strong. No shaking. The 5000mAh battery capacity de last.
However, the 16MP camera athough has autofocus and improved night mode. But the quality is not outstanding. Also the speakers of the phone is just noise. No quality.
Another cons, na the display. Na 720p IPS LCD. The truth is that, had Tecno fixed these cons, the price would have gone higher than this.
So here are two things to take home: First, Tecno is bringing 90hz refresh rate to those who can't afford to buy expensive device above 60k
Secondly, if you are camera person, look somewhere else. Because the phone is for 90hz and improved gaming (helio G70 processor).
Whatever the case is, Tecno Spark 7P remains the most affordable 90Hz refresh rate phone.
jizzison: Okay, that's good but when you price a phone at 70k & above, a 1080p display should be a MUST on that device, no excuses. You're spot on your comment concerning USB type C.
yeah that is why they have a range to choose from. I will prefer the higher one because of the huge 256gb
credon: They understand the small small psyche of africans, which is the worship of oyimbo people, even Arnold Schwarzenegger, britney spears, celine dion will not refuse to be transsion ambassador after all they will be paid. The most important thing is for africans to rush and buy a celeb branded phone
Same reason why Oppo is using the Barcelona players abi? you think it is ambassadors that make people buy stuff? i doubt. If someone likes something, nothing will stop them
jizzison: The only positives to take from this phone is the MTK Helio G85 chipset, the battery size, 18W fast charging, 90Hz refresh rate, ram & storage. Every other thing on this phone is not impressive & not worth the 74K price tag.
This is 2021 & people are getting enlightened by the day, I've seen better at this price range to know that this is not a good phone to purchase.
No Screen Protection e.g Gorilla Glass 3 or 5. Why not make use of side fingerprint scanners? Since rear fingerprint scanners are outdated. No USB TYPE-C? Haaa! Please of what use is that 3rd Camera called 'QVGA'? A 720p display? The display is very poor. Why not use 1080p display? What's wrong with these guys? Mehnn! If you still think this phone is worth the price tag, honestly, it's due to the fact that you spend too much time with Transsion phones.
there is a variant with 1080P and G95 and yeah, we need type C on phones like this
thesolutions: Seriously? Why will I buy what I will deliberately rubbish. Not once but twice. When what you believe should be a pride is giving you troubles, it is wisdom to voice it out or else you would become a nagging user.
that is how fanboys that are paid behave. Any talk about a concern is you tarnishing the brand.
MartinsD12: He has no reason to give, as long as it's camon 17 the price is great on that specs, phone is durable should comfortably be used for four years plus, they adopted the durable camon x polycarbonate body and the specs it's good for 74k
Everything goes hand in hand Processor and refresh rates. Hence, the reason why top companies are even looking increase their RR on most of their phones
I like this phone but I need some changes on subsequent releases. Type C charge, 1080P screen resolution will be the icing on the cake for this superb looking phone
