Politics / Re: Can We Have Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland? by freepeople: 1:01pm On Dec 07, 2011
Mmuo Okija:

Mixed reactions trail the Eze Ndi Igbo elections.

Thisday Newspaper
December 5th Publication

The voting has commenced to elect the Eze Ndi Igbo 1 of Nairaland, in what has been discribed by international observers as the worst form of broad daylight rigging in the history of democracy. Our reporters went out and interviewed many Nigerians and observers on what they felt about the proceedings and this is what we got;

Even I am speechless. This is worse than anything I've done.  - Maurice Iwu Former INEC Chairman.

With I guy like PointB handling an election in my country, I shall be in power even after I die, because he can make even a dead man win. - Robert Mugabe. Zimbabwean President

As a proud Igbo woman, I am ashamed to associate myself with this sort of charade. Infact this election has given me the inspiration for my new book titled "Pointb is a true SUN of a BEACH" - Chiamanda Ngozi Adichie. Prize winning authour of Half of a yellow Sun.

Laugh wan kill me o!! - Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Even I could have better rigged a football match result using just an Abacus. One word to describe this would be "system failure". - Bill Gates CEO Microsoft.

I am not surprised. The second I heard he (PointB) was incharge, I knew that the elections would be flawed. In 2005 he was arrested for selling fake drugs in Onitsha by Mrs. Akunyili, also arrested by Tafa Balogun for importing sub-standard spare parts at Seme border. He also gave false testimony in court, gained admission into polythecnic with falsified results, was caught buying hard drugs with counterfiet money and then you give him an election to run, OFCOURSE he will provide you with fake results. - Nuhu Ribadu Former EFCC Chairman.

Jesus Christ of Nazareth!!  shocked Did you say election or selection - Mahmoud Ahmedinejad President of the Islamic republic of Iran.

That was not an election. It was a jamboree of frivolous decadence, masqueraded as an election with the sole purpose of enthroning a puppet whose puppeteers would manipulate, exploit, maneuver, steer and gravitate to sway, play and levitate to their malicious melody. The entire Igbo assembly should band together and expectorate the anthropomorphic hoodlums for thier midst before they teleport them back in time to the pre-jurrasic times. - Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon. Senator from Edo State

Where was this guy (pointB) during the PDP Primaries?! I would have won by a landslide victory. - Atiku Abubakar Former Nigerian Vice President and PDP presidential primaries loser.

Tufikwa!! Gini! What election?! that is an aluu, perpertuated by decendants of Osu's - Ohaneze Ndi Igbo spokesman.

Did I hear you say 'Eze Ndi Igbo' election?! I dont think you finished your question. Its is 'Eze ndi Egbo-smokers elections'. - Gov. Perter Obi Executive governor of Anambra State.

Embarassing!! - Seun Osewa CEO Nairaland group

Also, wikileaks has also released damning evidence of moneys paid to the Electoral Commisioner and also copies of invoices and reciept of the merchandises and gift items given to the electoral commisioner by some of the Candidates. The election was done by secret balloting and reports coming out of the Commisions office says that rigging was of epic proportions. A reliable source who pleaded not to be named, told our reporter this;
The question on everyones lip now is "what  is the hope of the Igbo people?". .

This is the craziest suggestion so far. I will be interested in knowing the drug that can make a man to fire blank for some period of time. I hope he doesn't fire blank for his remaining miserable yrs on earth

We met in schl. She was lucky to get a very good job while i am looking for one. She invested all she had on me. This is the 6th yr of this relationship. I have tried all means to cut her off but she won't let go. My problem is that i can't say it to her face that i am no more in love with her. Cos i dnt wnt to hurt her. Now i have found my dear love. She is asking for marriage but i  can't  marry her; i want to get married too (but, ) pls help me what do i do now am so confuse

Will I call that an investment - NAH! She gambled on you and lost. Her investment in you could not yield returns. Since there is no written or oral agreement, I consider this issue a bygone conclusion. Shiiit happens at times. It's a pity. We don't marry out of sympathy. Inform her of your decision tomorrow morning. Her heart will break, but she wont die. After all, thousands of men passes through similar predicament every year

SA will laugh their azz off, if they get to read this news.

While we are hoping to topple South Africa, they are hoping to topple Korea.

Two strokes for the same folk.

Can we continue to give ourselves this false sense of hope?

Though the dream is realizable, but at the moment, I will rather classify it as a tall dream.

Tall in the sense that there is no engine to power the growth on the ground.

We keep on setting goals with no concomitant target or indicators to measure how far our goals have advanced.

I predict that we will run bankrupt in the next decade, the way the country is going

It seems your history is a little hazy. have you forgotten how fellow Igbos were attacking Ojukwu's personality during that election?

The fact is Ojukwu must have been a leader who loved his people but the same people are ingrates and never loved him. Let me give you an example of how people love their leaders. They revere them. e.g Mandela

I can see that you've made up your mind before coming to debate on this issue of Igbos love for Ojukwu. Can you refresh my memory with your clear and superior knowledge of history by naming any Nigeria's personality of Ojukwu's caliber that has not been attacked by people from his tribe.

God Bless you for this. Only if people can read and understand

You are one of the few that understand The baifra war. It was greed, and an arrogance filled war that caused 3 million lives to be lost.

Ojukwu should ask himself why he took the non-baifra igbo area along with baifra

He should also ask why he wanted to annex Lagos, ogun and Ondo to baifra

Why did he invade the mid-west and kill Millions of Itsekiri, Bini, Esan, Usan, Urhobo, etc unless he knew of the presence of the oil there.

Why did he not jut go with the Igbo speaking areas ?

smh, so much for heroism

Out of how many states in the east, only 2 for APGA. Tough love.

I presume that you are deep-rooted in your position. You sounds as if Nigeria's election is just like what you'll get in Europe. Nigeria suffers from chronic election malpractices. The results of some elections are written down by the inner circles of the ruling party far ahead of the election date. I'm an Igbo but not an APGA supporter. In fact, I support Ngige(ACN). But I must inform you as somebody who witnessed what happened in 2003 that Ojukwu is a force to be reckoned with in southeast. If not for Obasanjo's rigging machine, APGA would have swept the whole of southeast and even make inroads into some states in Niger-Delta. Ignore the power of Ojukwu among Igbos at your own peril
Politics / Re: Ojukwu Was A Symbol Of Igbo Unity by freepeople: 4:53pm On Dec 04, 2011
1stCitizen:

Please spare us all the " his people loved him" nonsense.

Did Ojukwu love his people?- YES!
Did his people love him?- No

Lets be objective and remove sentiments. If he was loved, the likes of Edwin Onwudiwe will not join hands with those criminals in PDP NPN to rig him out of the senate race.

If his people love him thesame way he loved them. He would have been the King maker in Igbo politics rather PDP score more votes in eastern Nigeria.

If his people loved him, APGA would be running a one party system in Eastern Nigeria. Please spare us the hypocrisy.

I admire him for standing up for what is right although I have my reservations on the way he planned, executed and finally concluded his convictions. By Nigerian standards he was a better leader than most of the crop of leaders we have in Nigeria but was betrayed by his people.

renewnaija:

Very valid points which no one has responded objectively to.

Some of you argues as if you've never set foot on Nigeria. In case both of you are living abroad, elections in Nigeria are marred by malpractices. Elections here does not reflect the will of the masses. I witnessed the effect of Ojukwu's influence 1st hand in Anambra last yr. During the campaign, Gov Peter Obi received Ikemba's endorsement. We dismissed Ikemba's endorsement of Peter Obi as a fluke. But, alas! the effect of his endorsement manifested on the election day. Really, Ikemba is very popular among Igbos. Slowpokes like Peter Obi never miss an opportunity to milk on that popularity

But none of those commanders declared their genocidal intent to the world.

OLASODE2K:

the truth is that such type of unguarded statement is not good enough to be uttered by a commander publicly. if any soldier commited wholesame massacres, would he be free for having directly called for such publicly. i am very embarrassed when fellow tried to defend this indefensible statements by comparing it to worse battles. i understand military officers are naturally gentlemen, cultured and very mindful of all they do. i believe u can better defeat an enemy who respects u a lot than through fear. krieg ohne hasse means war without hatred was the constant order erwin rommel, the most successful and also most feared by the allieds, german general during WW11.  uptill now, he is the only hitler general whose huge successes in france and north africa were achieved without a single massacre. he even disobeyed hitler on several instances to massacre people and enemy soldiers. This way, your enemy trust u and can easily surrender without any fear. can u surrender to an officer who promised to shoot even when u are surrendering with a white handkerchief in the air?

Thank you my dear. How I wish to get more of people like you from our Yoruba neighbour. Gen. Stanley McChrystal was relieved of his duty when he made a less offensive comment. I'm appalled that an educated and proud tribe as Yorubas did not distance themselves from such comment. Is this an example of Yoruba hypocrisy? It is well documented that many mass graves were unearthed after Biafran forces retook Owerri from Adekunle forces. I think you understands the issue at stake. Adekunle is never a great military tactician. How come the ill-equipped Biafran forces were able to seize the control of Owerri from him? His comment is genocidal in nature. I would rather die than surrender to a war criminal like adekunle. Someday it will be the turn of another ethnic group to experience the Igbo style of ordeal. Nigeria has no future if people can condone such comment.

We'll miss you.

Haters that rejoice over Ojukwu's death are making the mistake of their life. 'Cause in his absence will arise some hardline and uncompromising elements like Uwazurike. Whether haters believes it or not, Ojukwu is a strong moderating force for the Igbos. I will await for who will step up to fill his vacuum.

You call T.B Joshua, ‘A conman’? God have mercy. Has he conned you? Why do you condemn your live with your tongue? You will go unpunished for this your statement. You can make your contribution, but you do not call him a conman. If he has conned you, let your live be in peace, if he has not conned you and you are calling him a conman, you will be inflicted with decease that only your confession to this your statement that can cure you, If not, you cannot be cured.
Let me tell you; I don’t worship in his church so that you don’t say because he is my prophet. He is real and has come to stay. Your likes here who are critics of him are spiritually blind.

You are afflicted with worse disease already. It is a psychiatric disorder called mania. I think you need your conmam prophet

I feel sorry for those patients. They are subjected to the humiliation of carrying a signpost which is boldly written "I am HIV +ve"

Did Jesus subject His patients through such humiliation?

One thing I discovered about patients is that they like to hear what they want to hear. That is why they are easy prey in the hand
of an established conman like TB Joshua. Doctors are prophets of doom, while TB Joshua provides an easy and fast solution to their
predicament.
