Marcd:

Several reasons, here are some: 1. Security, Married Man (MM) will take care of my needs in school (Handouts, Make-up, Extra Kish et al) 2. Bigz Girl Status: He lets you use his car (if you can drive) actually his wife's car when she's outta the country
3. She enjoys weekend trips outta Lagos (preferrably Abuja).
4. She gets first grade goods from your overseas trips
5. She is about the only one that can make you do the unthinkable, jabo your wife on the Island and chill with the babe on campus
6. No-one bl*&^ like her (not even Madam!)
7. Should I go on?

Sometimes, we allow these things to ride on our emotions, why? let's face it no matter how stoic you may want to call yourself, somewhere in the dark corridors of yuor heart you're thinking of tippy-toeing to go tap that ass. But the most important thing is, know when to call it quits without losing your family along with it.
Nuff said!

IGDHO! grin grin

Talking bout the eyewitness, what was she doing around when it was clear that law enforcement officers were driving traders out? I'm sure she hung around a lil' too much. . .

When I was in school, we had a peaceful demonstration once and the Vice Chancellor ordered that the school be closed at 12 noon and anyone not out of the school premises by then 'd driven out forcefully. The Mopol guys wiated till 1 pm before they descended on us. I hung around till like 1.30 and i got the whooping of my life. If I'd been outta the school by 12 noon, I wouldn't have known what'd happened.

Same applies to our eye witness. Why did she hang around the market premises for so long?

@tkb417

That was meant for the guy who indicated interest in my car. What I'd get him aint gonna be brand new but since these boys @ Elim attend to cars that are bought from them, they'd be able to point out a failrly used good one that is for sale & at a good price too.

@Topic

I'm not so comfortable with the Optra. Even the the CD player in it is a single front loader MOSFET type. . . the type u buy & fix. . . Does not look like the kina factory fitted stuff we know. Its as if the company collected parts from diff sources & assembled them to make a car, Not that the parts were manufactured to meet unique standards. The interior cannot be called "great". While it is always good to get a brand new, the choice of the Optra is not so enticing.

@ Mr Wanajo & Aiyetunje

Guys, I suggest you check your dates again. Chevvys were introduced into the Naija market May, 2006. Wherever you dad got your from, it wasnt a naija authorized chevvy centre. Aiyetunje, two belt changes already? That does not sound like a brand new care to me. Cos I know a car shoulda done at least 300,000km before a belt change. My dad's official corrola is over 5 years old. No belt change till date. Only the windscreen's had issues & had to be replaced.

And yes, I was working at the Chinese Ministry of Trace on Idejo street VI, when Chevvys were introduced (of course, not by the chinese). Visit them anytime, u'll get dates. Pity I'm no longer with them else would have given u evidence m'self.

Allboyz,

I bought the car brand new jare. Then it was going for 4.2m. Picked it at Elim Motors V.I. in October 2006. They've been servicing it since & not for one day has it "coughed" nad neither has any belt change occured till date. I have gotten offers for 2.1m. . . but I aint selling it yet. Maybe sometimes in January tho. But if u still are interested in an Avensis, I could source for one for you. I could talk to my boys in Elim motors for any of their customers ready to sell his. once there's anything, I'd let u know.

sojioguns:

14 month old kia optima for 1m. I think that is a great deal. Can we see pics?
In as much as we all clamour for the 'trusted' names. They too mess up. The reliability of TOyotas and Hondas is not as it used to be.
@freezy. The only reason you still get that amount for your car is because its demand is high. I bet it is either a Toyota or Honda. It doesn't mean it is far better than the optima.

Well, you are very right. Its a toyota, and its a beautiful 2006 Avensis. But still, it floors the 2007 Optima anyday. I'm already i'm looking at the 2009 Avensis. It a beauty to behold. I'll still go for the trusted brand anyday (and note that this is not limited to Toyotas & Hondas. . . Beemas & Benzes fall in this group too.
Car Talk / Re: New Chevrolet Optra Vs Tokunbo Car by freezy(m): 5:06pm On Oct 24, 2008
Yeh, most improved car but its still got its issues.
Beacause of the pedigree, demand outgrew supply
The cars had to be mass produced to meet demand
Two of ma colleagues got the Elantra.
The cars have broken down at least twice each.
To top it all, Stallion motors say the cars cannot be replaced.
Even new cars get their own yawa.
If u r buying new, buy a trusted brand with a beautiful 2nd hand value.
I know some 1 whose still trying to sell a 14 mnth old Kia Optima for 1m. (it was 1.3 last month & 'd probably drop to like 800k next month
My car is 2 years old & i still get askin of 2m.
My guys, make una shine una eye.

Aiyetunje:

My guy go for the Optra!

My dad uses an Optra bought 4 years ago & has not had cause to change anything in the car save for the regular maintainance jobs & things that need regular changing like oil, fan belt etc. the upholstery is still tight! The engine is untouched!

Can u vouch that same would happen to ur 03 Camry? I doubt it.

Go for the new car, I can vouch for its quality. Chevrolet may not be a common brand in Nigeria so peeps tend to look down on it but its a solid brand that will give u value for ur money!

Errr. . . 4 years ago? Guy, we introduced chevrolet to into the nigerian market mid 2006. May 16 to be exact.
