@Poster: I understand your predicament. I would advice you to go to the Lord in prayer and find out from him if she is the person you should get married to. Do not forget that your Pastor has your best interest at heart and even at times like this when it might seem that he does not understand, TRUST ME, he might be right!

That explains why they have so many broken homes. Many of them never got to know each other in the first place and it was only after the wedding that they discovered that they were not compatible. It doesn't mean that some of those arranged marriages didn't work but the divorce rate is also very high.

I think you need to understand what means to be righteous. It means having right standing with God not because you've earned it but simply because you've confessed the Lordship of Jesus Christ over your life. Righteousness is a gift from God. You don't work for it, all you have to do is accept it. Read Romans 5:17. The church of Jesus Christ was never for holier than thou people, it is for people who aren't perfect. So if a church is full of thieves,liars etc, it is really a church and if these category of people come there regularly, the Spirit of God through the agency of the word of God cleanses them. I have somewhat a twist to this topic. My parents are separated. For close to 20 years now, I still love them: Mum was a teacher, Dad was an accountant
and earlier in his life he had been a journalist. Mum is also a very prayerful woman and Dad too but somehow they are not together anymore. I love my Dad the most for his stance on discipline, I love my mum who taught me how to see life as being spiritual. I'm getting married in a few weeks and in the course of the wedding planning I deeply wished that they were not separated and my most sincere wish would be for them to come back together. That's it folks.

I seriously object to your choice of words. You don't have any idea why the man is acting in that way and as such you're not in a position to call men names. Don't forget that women act in very funny ways too. If we start the name calling game we might cause more harm than good. I agree that correction should be made in love but it takes two to tango doesn't it.Never assume that a man has a low thinking faculty...it will work against you.
