Why should one become a criminal or is it because spousal abuse is not treated with the level of seriousness it deserves in this country? You know in advanced countries, if you physically assault a spouse, it is an offense punishable by imprisonment plus all the spousal and child support you will have to pay! So which is easier? Cause yourself an avoidable criminal record or just get out of the situation?

It is because it was uploaded and met with widespread criticism that the beast was arrested if not it would become 'he said, she said'. He probably would have even gotten away with it because from the video, some neighbour said he'd been in the habit of abusing his wife in this manner for the 4years he (the neighbour) had lived there! The woman deserves rapid justice and support!

Why is the continuation of the marriage an issue to be considered in the face of the dehumanizing, criminal behaviour of the man against the woman? What would be the basis for continuation of such a marriage/union? Even children of such a marriage, if any, need to be removed from that environment ASAP to reduce trauma and negative experiences of watching their mother being treated so inhumanely!

Some of our public office holders must also learn to minimize ignorance and speak from a place of knowledge when addressing the public! How can the Minister of Women Affairs say that the man must face the law due to family pressure? Does she not realize that crimes such as these are offenses against the state and so the state is bound to investigate and prosecute this crime? It has nothing to do with family pressure except where corruption creeps in and we start hearing 'order from above'! I hope she matches her words with action along with concerned government agencies!

Whether Obi/Obidients talk or not, does it stop the president from doing what he has to do or choosing to endorse criminality as he clearly continues to do? Is Obi in office/power? What do you mean by leave the president? Who is holding/stopping him from running things in the first place? Abi nobody should talk about or criticize his actions or inaction? You know Nigeria and its ingrained criminality! Even with the clear need for immediate employment/recruitment of more qualified medical personnel to provide necessary services, one oga somewhere will sit on funds/salaries allocated for these vacancies and rather see the hospital shut down with people suffering or keep overworking the available staff (which makes them to start planning japa too!) just because there is hardly any form of accountability. Either that or employment racketeering will be set up with officials requiring bribe or letter from above, seasoned with enough nepotism! How then can we ever get the best?

Are you then saying the House of Reps Chairman of the Committee is lying or uninformed? Do you have any factual basis for your outright disagreement with the House of Reps that exercises oversight of the health sector? Has LUTH come out to say the position is untrue or have you verified that there are no 5 wards shut down in LUTH due to lack of medical personnel? It is clearly stated in the news that the Health Committee undertook an oversight visit to LUTH and came up with these findings. Have you done same and had a different result?

Assuming, without conceding, that your assertion is correct, why then am I not seeing some outrage from you against the House of Reps Chair of the Committee for speaking such falsehood and misleading the people? Why do you rather attack one who has reacted to the news and instead accuse the person of being negative and therefore not entitled to the blessings of the land?

Either way, there is evident failure of government/governance so why are you unable to criticize the government for its lapses?
