i meant it has been ongoing for a long time. we've heard the rumours of nnpc staffs receiving exhorbitant pays. this confirms it. slivertongue: "Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) paid over 8 billion as salary upfront in January 2020. This is according to the daily payment data published on the open treasury portal. The review of salary payments between January and April 2020 showed two descriptions. The first description is January 2020 DPR Staff Salary. This has only five beneficiaries and sums to ₦29.6 million. The second description, which is 2020 DPR Staff Upfront Payment, had 605 beneficiaries and summed to ₦8 billion." |

Go to "Daily payment", and download by year/ and month, you will see staff names there. hehehehehe See as government staffs dey get millions... they are practically millionaires!!! while millions of youths are jobless! I think another government does this, they publish names of staff and their remunerations in the newspapers everytime. AMvanquish: Thanks for the open treasury reference but I still insist It was leaked. Open treasury does not specify cadres of staff that are paid, not to mention even calling out a staff name that was paid. Or if you have the link , please send it because I cant find staff names in the above link. Besides all I see are Govt sector based Financial et al. |

you work for nnpc or dpr. how can many people be jobless and they still pay others millions in salary every month its senseless. PoliticallyInco: This piece was written out of ignorance and sensationalism.
Global equity when it comes to salary etc. Is a dream. And no time in Nigeria will there be equal pay for all staff of the Government. Not even the oil companies pay themselves the same amount. Even in the USA there is only a minimum wage.
AND WHAT IS WRONG IF SOMEONE EARNS MORE THAN THE PRESIDENT? WHO IS THE PRESIDENT THAT PEOPLE CANT EARN ABOVE HIM IN THE CIVIL SERVICE? SINCE WHEN IS THAT A BENCHMARK? What manner of ignorance is this? Does the president earn hazard allowance? Does he earn shift allowance? Is he under the risk of dying in a helicopter crash every 2 weeks? Is he under the risk of having his survey vessel offshore attacked by pirates and militants?
What is the minimum education requirement to becoming the president of Nigeria? School certificate? As a minimum this won't get you employed into DPR or FIRS, etc.
1. The Oil and Gas Industry has its own salary structure. Try to pay a DPR staff 30 thousand per month and you want him to regulate a Total Staff who is paid 1 million plus? Really?
2. The risk majority of these DPR staff take in doing their jobs. The level of expertise, it is not something you just pay paltry 30 thousand minimum wages for.
3. Also, the financial arrangement DPR is operating under is quite different from those of other MDAs. DPR gets to keep a percentage of whatever it generates. Hence it can do much better than many other MDAs.
4. The revenue that the DPR generates is huge. It keeps surpassing it's target every year. Yes the Federal Government gives DPR a target with respect to revenue.
5. For now the Oil and Gas Industry is most important to Nigeria. Those who work and facilitate this will naturally be paid more and appeased by better perks.
As it stands today let no one deceive others that all Civil Servants Contribute the same. They never have and they never will. Various arms of the Civil Service contribute differently to the growth, revenue and development of the country. We all love to live in fantasies and lies we well ourselves. |

liar. these salaries are more than what the private firms earn. 71 million a year in dollars is more than 200,000usd i hear one google engineer for lagos dey get 700,000k a month. thats a private firm. caleboxylic: This is poor considering that they generate forex for the country with a risk.
Compare what they pay to them with Total, Nlng etc, you will see they earn less.
Their salaries should be reviewed upward to accommodate the risk they take in regulating our upstream sector. |

stop lying. read the article again Saifulah: It is important to note two things here
1 upfront salary 2. Industry
Upfront salary is some percentage of your annual salary paid to you upfront in January. This is normally 45 to 55% depending on the CBA. Say for instance you earn 400k monthly, your annual salary is 4.8 million. Hence a 55% upfront payment will mean you will get a January salary of 2.6 million (from the 4.8 annual salary) and just 180k for the remainder of the 11 months.
As someone mentioned the energy industry pays high salary on average. If the DPR as a regulator decides to pay less it risk attracting unskilled workforce and losing it's best hands to the oil companies it seeks to regulate. Another thing is poor salaries make them prone to bribery in an industry like oil and energy. |

shut up. you work for dpr olaNL: Hmm. Though the money seems quite large, but there are two ways to look at it. You might want to say that the salaries of the DPR staff is on the high side for civil/public servant and the same goes for other high paying public institutions like NNPC, FIRS etc. But you also have to look at the practices of the industry under which the institution operates. The oil industry is known to have high salary benefits to its employees all over the world. So if DPR and similar government agencies decides to pay it's staff what non oil related industry are paying, it will not get required technical manpower to perform it's operations most especially in the top management level and it will generally have a high employee turnover as its staff will port to private oil companies that pays will at any given opputunity.
And the writer of this piece does not understand what upfront payment is. It's an accumulation of benefits that is given once a year and at the beginning of the year and it varies across the seniority level. So it doesn't mean that all the employee got similar upfront some might have gotten more while other got less than what was stated in the article above. |

what's wrong with putting nigerians in the place ? na america get afdb? they say most of the senior staffs are french. I dont know how we allow these foreigners to run the afdb. i know, the answer is simple. because the other african countries are dullards and dummies. the trick america use is to make the allegations public so to force adesina to step aside. read his responses on the link in page 1. too much dirty politics at play in the afdb. they want to fire dis, fire dat. here are some from page 54: So you have a situation of a very flawed investigation, with too many hidden agendas and inconsistencies and a conspiracy to find Mr. Lufumpa guilty at all costs, when the evidence just does not add up to reach the required burden of proof. With these inconsistencies and malicious intentes, it was obvious to me this was a witch hund clad in investigation garments. Management cleard Mr. Lufumpa of the allegations and wrote him a letter of apology on October 1 2019 Heathrow44: Oga only a one count charge if driven home is enough t kick his ass of the office.. That place is not Nigeria where leaders re tight fisted t relinquish power. Anybody supporting this man with d weight of evidence against him does not have any moral standard and character |

he should not resign i read his responses on saharareporters. they are just jealous of him. the only issue i have is with hiring his friend oladokun. Heathrow44: Never liked the guy for anything he thinks the AFDB is Nigeria where any impunity & nepotism is swept under the carpet with this 16 count allegation if found guilty he should be made to face d full grunt of d law, extradited to the US and charged.. Of Course his entitled to his lawyer and his rights would be upheld always when necessary...
Best thing : Resign but rather than a typical Nigerian to resign they hold power but it's d US we re talking abut here, Mr. Man commit from there
PS all this people shouting the US wants him out so d can control d organization are seriously bad people, always turning a blind eye to an obvious injustice going on, whether he is a Nigerian or not I'm not going to condole or overlook his allegations, we must be transparent, accountable and law abiding...
Justice must be served ! Or simply Resign!

There is no fair hearing anywhere in this world, if you are strong to be stopped, they simply dig out your dirt and you are out. they are only there because they want to control afdb like now!!! JuanDeDios: Fair question. Because we need the money? The 27 non-Afrircan members are all rich countries and aren't beneficiaries of the bank - only African countries are. But I think you can raise this as a separate question, that is, separate from the issue on ground - that Dr Adeshina allegedly abused his position by "violating ethical guidelines in the recruitment and promotion of staff, disrespected internal probationary rules, condoned sexual harassment by his protégé, recruited unqualified staff, favouritism, duplicated company roles and probably wasted banks funds on unproductive concerns." (Thanks for the summary, emkz.) |
