In the coming months, crude distillates are going to hit the roof while crude prices will fall drastically .


You may ask how can crude be cheap but distillates more expensive ?

The answer is already starring at us.

In the US, a gallon of diesel is now going for as much as $8.

A barrel of crude is at around $93.

There are 159 litres in a barrel of crude.

So a litre of crude is selling at approximately 60 US cents but a litre of diesel in same US has a median price of $1.75.

That makes diesel to be at least 3 times more expensive than crude.

The reason for this is because Russian refineries have seen a drastic reduction in output due largely to Kiev terrorists attacks on Russian refineries.

Russia by the way, is the largest diesel refiner and exporter.

Now US and European refineries are operating at 100% capacity to make for the shortfall in Russian diesel.

The world is experiencing a crude oil crisis but there is a bigger crisis in crude refining.

There are not enough refining capacity.

Now imagine US and European refineries breakdown as they are operating dangerously at peak capacity.

Crude prices will crash because there is no refining capacity. If refineries are not operating due to maintenance and repairs, who will buy crude ,?

But distillate prices from available refineries will hit the roof as there will be severe shortages in distillates .

Nigeria can not afford this scenario since we rely on crude sales to be high .

Don't expect Dangote to reduce prices for local markets as distillates are now sold at international prevailing prices.

European distillates are only more expensive than what we buy here because of VAT, carbon and environmental taxes.

So just have it in the back of your mind that Atiku's crude swap will not work because Dangote is going to priorize selling his refined products abroad were the market is willing to pay the prevailing price .

So I was discussing with a broker yesterday on crude pricing and the very wide gap compared to diesel prices globally.

So happens that diesel is now at least three times more expensive to crude.

My broker friend was of the opinion that crude prices are being heavily manipulated in the future markets which I agreed with him .

Were we disagreed fundamentally was why crude prices were being artificially under priced despite major supply inventories from the ME and Russia taken out of the global supply chain.

While my broker friend relied on US strategic oil reserves being released to cushion the shortfall, I totally disagreed with this simplistic view.

I argued that crude prices (although being heavily manipulated at the international trading markets), the main reason why crude prices are not going up is because of Russian refineries taken out by Kiev terrorists.

Data from the US energy board confirmed my hunch as US refineries are now operating at 100% capacity to make the shortfall from Russian diesel supplies. Russia is the largest producer of diesel

That explains why crude prices remain relatively cheap compared to distillates like diesel.

Existing refineries can not handle the demand brought about by Russian refineries going offline.

And there's a real risk that any future schedules turn around maintenance of these refineries could spell more doom for crude prices and see to a spike in distillate pricing.

If the US and European refineries who are now operating dangerously at peak capacity suddenly breakdown and are forced to shut down for repairs, crude prices will fall sharply but demand for distillates will spike alongside it's pricing.

And since you just can't build a refinery over night, there's real and portend danger for a future global energy crisis.

This is why Dangote refinery remains poised to meet western demands and explains why Dangote refineries is already planning to expand its output capacity.

Anyone telling you that Dangote refinery IPO and public share offer is a scam should be avoided completely .

I even foresee Dangote refinery being the number 1 buyer of Nigerian crude when those refineries in the US and Europe begin to shut down.

The only issue here is that Dangote's profit margins will explode as it sources cheap crude to produce and sell expensive distillates.

My advice, if you haven't keyed into Dangote Refinery share offer , do it now.

Dangote is going to make a massive killing in the next 6months and beyond.

He is however going to get a lot of backlash as distillate prices will remain far higher than the cheap crude he is sourcing.
