There's a housing bubble in the US now.

House prices are grossly overvalued and the reason for this are:

1. Corporations like BlackRock are now buying up mortgage debt from banks and almost immediately inflating the property values on the homes they acquired the mortgage debt. This is one of the prime reason housing is spiking in the US.

2. Same corporations liaise with city councils , HOAs and environmental groups to block new development projects so as to create an artificial scarcity while still pumping up the value of their homes.

3. A typical single family first time buyer home use to average between 100-250k but now it's averaging between 500-800k. This has nothing to do with cost in actually building new homes as wages have stagnated for construction workers owing to illegal workers getting paid under the table far below industry rates and sometimes lower than minimum wage but because of bureaucratic red tapes that are meant to keep home prices up, investors and shareholders in BlackRock and other institutional investors happy and the boomers who own most homes in America remain rich to be able to afford going on vacation to Vegas to gamble half their earnings away .

This is why Trump said he can't see to bringing down house prices because it will affect others already invested in it and is proposing 50y mortgages.

All those inflated homes and corporate portfolio and owed debt from mortgages get accounted as part of US GDP which sees to US govt borrowing more on that same artificial GDP with debt now above GDP.

These road projects are the reason why the price of cement is shooting up. I think government needs to liberalise the importation of cement. A bag of cement in China goes for 4k to 6k. There is no reason for a bag of cement in Nigeria to cost almost as close to how much it is sold in the US.

Dangote's Obajana plant for example generates all the power they need from diesel powered generators and that doesn't come cheap.

There's also the mining process that requires heavy duty diesel earthmoving equipment and dump trucks.

Since Dangote relies on thousands of diesel trucks to move their cement from their factory to wholesalers across Nigeria, that is also another very expensive cost you have to factor.

China and France produce the cheapest cement because both France and China have very cheap energy sources for power generation.

France relies on Nuclear power plants for 70% of its energy needs which makes cement production very cheap.

China's vast energy production which is over 50,000 GW relies on cheap coal fired power plants, series of hydro dams notably the Three Gorge dam alongside dozens of nuclear power plants. This makes energy very cheap to produce in china and hence cement.

Also china has invested heavily on rail to move heavy goods around which makes distributing cement way cheaper.

When we tell you that infrastructural investment is key to economic growth you will be spewing trash that it's better to invest in breweries and Gabriela Obi's Panama account.
