[s] houvest: I do not like getting into these unnecessary comparisons between those two men or ethnic groups because both are great Nigerian heroes and groups but for a person that insists so much on historical facts, I find it funny that you will do the same thing you say you are trying to correct. How ever did you conclude that Ziks's people hold no reverence for him. Have you being to Igboland and interviewed the common man to reach your conclusions or you are basing it on the comments of a few Nlanders here. In Igboland the awe Zik is held reaches to the boundaries of worship, Zik was thought to be a god in Igboland. In fact there were even some funny myths about Zik holding the key to the Atlantic ocean and such. It is wrong to conclude that Zik is/was not revered by his people. His reasons for leaving Biafra when he did are well documented and even though controversial remain his choice which I respect. You disagree with it as do many and that is your opinion which I also respect. But trying to demonize one and eulogize the other to me is wrong as they are both humans and have their weak moments and also missteps,
I do not again understand how it is inconceivable to you that an Igbo or in fact any ethnic would contest and win an election in any part of Nigeria not his own. What makes it inconceivable? Have you done a research on all the elections in Nigeria and found that No Igbo contested an election in the North? What is therefore to be gained by that assertion? How come a northerner was once a mayor of Enugu and an Ibibio was the premier of Eastern Nigeria if Inter-ethnic politics then is inconceivable. I think any nIgerian should contest and if possible win an election in any part of Nigeria he can that is what Nationhood is all about. I commend Zik for his pan-Nigeria and pan-African vision. He not only espoused it but he also tried to live it by 1/Living in Ghana and actually starting his Nationalist movements there as well as his Newspaper publications 2/ Living in western Nigeria and contesting elections there. 3/ Learning and speaking the three major Nigerian languages. Most Igbos who criticise Zik feel that his vision was ahead of his time, that he should have played tribal politics like his peers but they forget that each man has his calling. Okpara was good in Tribal politics and so Zik left him in charge of Eastern Nigeria while he went to the centre.
As to Zik's comments to the Igbo State Union and the football team, I regard the negative interpretations here as much ado about nothing. As I posted before, politicians will always play politics. Zik would make similiar eulogies to Yorubas when he went to campaign in their land, to Edos, in their land, to the Hausas in their land, etc and he would even go further and say it in their languages. If those comments were so badly viewed then, how come he still went on to win a seat in the western house as well as many of his partymen and even with the help of alliance would have formed the government if not for the carpet-crossing incidence? Jenifa_: lobbying you mean? this is one of the reasons why we are not moving forward in naija. "every sickness in the world has an association" should that be the case? that you need to join an organization and lobby the governor for him to notice you. we are definitely corrupt to the core.
fact remains that philanthropic work should be voluntary not mandatory. fashola should set up a private charity organization for that kind of thing. Stop saying WE. You are not one of us. Cant you understand? Imagine me calling myself white, wont you feel insulted Go to your country's forum and comment, leave NL alone to Nigerians. FUUUUCK YOU |

Obiagu1: . It seems like Creoles (Krios) like to "name their kids after friends/heroes/villains/stars" of Igbo and Yoruba descent. Interesting.
The 2 tribes most be very interenting to them.
Maybe they should "name their kids after friends/heroes/villains/stars" of other African descents like Mobutu, Mandela, etc DOnt ever speak for us again in your NL life We Yorubas dont claim people We are happy as we are. Now, if, like you and your brothers have been doing on this thread, you wanna claim Mukina and every Salone alive, please go ahead, but please do not bring Yoruba into your nonsensical claimoppola |

kcjazz: Source of data: Euromonitor. (no links cos it is paid for)
Again there are about less or about 50 universities in this country of 100 million people. Simply inadequate. The USA has about 4000 universities/colleges, not all are at the same level. So what we can do is to create a grading system for our schools to make them more effective. I undersatnd quality vs quantity problem but we have to build more. Not everyone is meant for college but every state deserves a university, it is the least we can do. So far Private universities have not shown the encouraging signs that they can do better hence OAU, Kwara are still at the top.
There are too many problems with our educational system and you can create a seperate thread for that but this plan is for the better. Not every one needs college but the ones that want to, must be provided that opportunity. Another lie. Are you by any way, Kobojunkie's husband? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_universities_in_Nigeria |

kcjazz: ^^^^It is easy and good to critic, and no blames especially for a govt like Nigeria but leave sentiments and look at the numbers I posted this earlier+others
By 2015, people under 20 years-old will account for 52% of the population in Nigeria, depending on the census data you have that is about 60 million young folks. We need to absorb them. The existing universities + private cannot handle a third of that number. Where do you want them to go to?
Issue of quality vs quantity is not just about a money problem, it is an instituional problem. And we need to fix that. Again not a GEJ fan but this is a good planning if implemented. And By 2015, Nigeria's popullation would have regressed from its present 140 milla to 120 milla? Bravo! Bravo!! Bravo!!! Very intelligent |

Worse is you don't seem to note that you actually do the Fashola Campaign more harm than good with your nonsensical agbero approach to answering questions. You will do better coming back with actually intelligent rebuttals that people can understand. . . insults only reveal how weak, and likely uninformed you yourself are of the issue, and as a person. Sort of like how @beaf goes around throwing insults thinking they somehow translate into valid points.
Anywho, back to the issue . . . . And that right there is what you call intelligent rebuttal? Bravo! Mrs. Kobojunkie I just reported you to Mujkina for that You are a disgrace to all Senile and crazy people everywhere in the world. Imagine that! |

Even with your idiotic analogy, celebrities are lagosians too and they pay taxes just like the next man and if I might, the governor is everybody's governor celebrity or not. And also the Governor cant be everywhere, if he doesnt know, how is he going to help? Except, there is evidence that the Governor deliberately ignores the downtrodden, this argument is without merit. Some people are just dumb and like to argue for the sake of it |
