talktimi: Some people will just come here spouting nonsense about hip hop and naija's music industry when they know absolutely zero about it. What's even more pathetic is that they even compare Nigeria with America.
This same America where radio/tv stations pay royalty to their music artistes, where there are reputable distribution companies not our Alaba gangsters. American artistes get royalty on every single album sold and they also make money from every single song sold online through itunes and other such portals.
In Nigeria, an artiste has to PAY radio and tv to have his/her song played, an artiste has to pay Alaba boys and other criminals across the country to market their songs. American hardcore rappers are definitely bound to be richer than their Nigerian counterparts with all these advantages.
I laugh at people especially on this thread, KRS ONE and the rest have their LOYAL fan base who actually BUY their albums and thus ensure their steady royalty both online and in hard copies but does that mean KRS is a multi platinum selling artiste anytime he releases an album ? The answer is an emphatic NO. Young guns like Asap Rocky, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross etc are the ones making the major bucks just the same way Olamide, Ice Prince, MI etc are the one making the bucks in Nigeria. Does it mean Ice Prince/MI et al don't know how to rap ? Silly question when they keep all the tenets and rules of a proper rap song even the Olamide who raps in vernacular is actually keeping it REAL because the ordinary man on the street feels/understands his music which is actually the whole point of music, why do you think STYLEE is the most popular track and perhaps the best mode9 has ever been on markeing wise ? In fact next time, ask a marketer how difficult it is to sell a mode9 album even with his "numerous" fans out there. Music is business and it should be treated like such, keep the gangsta/hardcore s#it for your mixtapes then the real s#it for your albums and stop boring Nigerians to death with your awanna ganna jargons, we've got a lot of that coming from America already.

I've come to a conclusion that nobody,I repeat, nobody on this planet earth has 100% control over his or her mind, what I mean is that nobody can decide what to think for the day just like we have timetable of what to do or eat for the day

I am of the opinion that there is nothing like a 'short prayer'...prayer is meant to be a consistent thing in our lives...St Paul admonishes us to pray without ceasing in his epistle to the Thessalonians:

Now what exactly does this mean for a Christian? Are we supposed to shun every other thing we need to do in our lives and focus on prayer?...this really is far from what I mean. For a Christian...everything and any activity is turned into prayer.

The work we do, the places we go to, the movies we see etc can be turned into prayer e.g when one offers his job to God as a prayer offering, asking God to bless and sanctify the works of his hands...that work we do becomes a form of prayer that is pleasing and acceptable to God...all we need do now is do that work very well in order to please God...same goes to other activities.

When mum was alive,she was fund of long prayers,especially in the morning and @ night before bed time

Now she's late and I'm already used to those long prayers but as a very busy person i sometimes make it a short one just to meet up with my daily activities especially in the morning

Sometimes I feel like the short prayer is weak,although I try as much as I can to debunk this thought but finding it so difficult

Going by what I understand as cosmopolitan then the title of the thread should be "after lagos which other city is more cosmopolitan in nigeria"

I was born in ph, did primary sch in ph and secondary in owerri, university in calabar, spent 1 year in jos,always visit lagos and abuja and have been to north(kaduna,kano and katsina)

Among all these places there's something about lagos, a place I can slap any man of my size without thinking where he's from, a place a ghanian locked up his nigerian landlord for six days for breaking his door

A place everything is represented,what ever you want to buy and didn't see it in lagos, forget about it its not in nigeria,Lagos is full of mix up,Once you got street credibility lagos is yours

Abuja is too decent for me(if you understand what I mean)though no ethnic group owns it which is what makes it a cosmopolitan city but too many division of classes(though this doesn't count)

Jos is ok but I spent 1 year there recently when fear has taken over the city,you walk in to a restaurant and speak loud every1 became scared, I only heard how it was all nice in 90's
