The earlier the ibos realise that they are second class citizens the better. They are only good in holding appointment positions but are unqualified to be president of Nigeria.

IPOB/Nnamdi Kanu damaged them so bad politically it will be a miracle for them to ever get Nigerian's support for either Presidency or peaceful Biafra secession.

It is your type whose thinking is controlled by what authorities say.

Nothing new or original. Always parroting what you were told.

If you read to understand like you want others to do you would have seen where i said building refineries is a good thing.

But like Buhari anything that doesn't immediately praise sing you is an attack.

I laugh at your ignorant statement with our present level of industrialisation when the basis of industrialisation is the ability to produce metal. Or did you skip that class in school? Without steel, there is no industrialisation at all.

The industrial age which was well over two hundred years ago was not characterised by the refining of crude but by developments in the production of Iron on a massive scale.

Like most Nigerian technocrats you seek to copy and paste without a deep understanding of the environment you are pasting to.

Perhaps you think that the concrete we produce and use to build in Nigeria is the best we can do. Concrete without steel. Something that is 2000 year old technology. Shame!

A country that failed to develop steel industries but is thirsting after private refineries. Sad

FYI. The wonder that is Dubai could not have existed without steel, yet they were refining before importing steel from Kuwait and then building their own.

Perhaps if you were there you would have told them to keep depending on imported steel since the refinery was all they needed to Prosper.

Why did they build massive steel mills when they wanted to industralise?

You're the type that failed at arithmetic but wants to argue with people about calculus.

First Things First

You went off in the wrong direction. I told you to understand the context of Nigeria viz-a-viz our comparative advantage compared to other industrialized countries you're referencing but you failed to adhere.

COMPARATIVE ADVANTAGE

Comparative advantage occurs when one country can produce a good or service at a lower opportunity cost than another. This means a country can produce a good relatively cheaper than other countries

The theory of comparative advantage states that if countries specialise in producing goods where they have a lower opportunity cost – then there will be an increase in economic welfare.
Source: https://www.economicshelp.org/blog/glossary/comparative-advantage

This is exactly why expanding our refining capacity is a top Priority. Apart from the fact that it makes zero economic sense to be importing petrol when we have huge deposits of crude oil in our backyard giving us comparative advantage, you must understand that stopping the current forex leakage is absolutely critical to stem inflation & trigger any form of economic development.

Nobody is suggesting or implying that the steel industry is not essential to industrialization. Why do you think the massive Ajaokuta steel plant was conceived & successive Govt's have tried to make it work albeit unsuccessfully? However the private investors are characteristically seeking out the best return on investment & refining petroleum for the massive national, sub-regional, continental & global energy market is clearly it for them.

The strategic importance of ending petroleum imports cannot be over-emphasized, especially considering that we spend over $40m daily on imported petroleum (steel imports are nothing near fuel imports); forex that could be saved to strengthen & boost the Naira significantly.

Nigeria is currently at a much greater comparative advantage refining her crude oil than producing steel, and it is a greater strategic priority.

Victim mentality, jealousy and ethnic hating has already started this early morning. Please provide details of how, who and when the so called Hausa cabal stopped an Urhobo man or anyone else from setting up a refinery. Since 2016, the FG has literally been begging private individuals and enterprises to come take licenses for modular refineries.... It's not enough to just peddle baseless beer parlour gibberish into the public space as if it were fact. Kindly provide the details of this allegation, and do well to provide the name of the so called wealthy Urhobo man whose refinery was stopped by Hausas. Thanks!

Do you mind them?

Swerve because I am talking about Nigeria. I don't give a fvck about any other country.... This skewed contraption Nigeria must break if things continue this way.

Is it in other countries that we have only northern Muslims in all security arms of the government? The judiciary and every important federal ministry/ parastatal?

Just stay in your north and develop whatever resources you have there. Stop using FG to defraud south of oil wells and other important strengths we have.. We absolutely don't need you people. Nigeria must break, period!

I knew you wouldn't fail to expose the sheer vacuum you carry upstairs.

I drew that analogy to highlight the logical handicap and total irrationality of your ignorant claims. Who brought about disparity in govt appointments in this discourse or are you suffering from attention deficit disorder?

If you claim Dangote's business excellence and domination is due to favoritism and nepotism by the Nigerian government, PLEASE explain to us how come he is also excelling in other African countries (since there are no northern Muslims dominating govt) ...or you can tell us how their government also favours him above their citizens.

Spare me your frustrations with Nigeria as I'm not in the least interested in your political woes, try to think straight on course, and answer intelligently this time.

You're the one in mental slavery.... With the kind of money your billionaires control, why is the north still poverty stricken, disease ridden and the most backwards region in the country... Insecurity abounds because most of your youths are poor and unemployable with no skills.

Many are in the south who travelled just to come and beg here... How many southerners are in the north begging? undecided so you're the ones who need emancipation from mental slavery

This northern government must stop arm twisting southerners only to favour Northerners.... Dangote made his billions in dollars from Nigeria and many times when he started viz, he was given sole license to import some commodities while frustrating others from same biz to give him an edge over them.

Even the northern borders are wide open. But southwest borders are still close just to make sure we don't buy cheap food from neighboring countries and we're forced to buy stony rubbish and expensive foodstuffs from the north, just because they can't survive without the southern money as usual. Bunch of perpetual parasites

Typical unintelligent bigot regurgitating baseless stale narratives without answering the question. "Parasites" that you depend on for most of your food supply and soon refined petrol. Please spare us your ignorance driven negative energy and answer the simple question:

Which favoritism did Dangote enjoy in other countries where he is excelling in business? Or are they arm-twisting their citizens to favour him too?

If you're asked now to mention a single policy that favoured Northern businessmen, you will start on another illogical trajectory of oafish, bigoted, ignorant utterances with Zero relevance to the discourse.

I don't have time for your pedestrian tripe if you lack an intelligent answer to the emboldened question.

He's enjoying Northern government backing... Many of Southern parts were multimillionaires before Dangote. BUA too is following suit as per their agenda...

South East, South West and South-south billionaires must start building Refineries if they don't want the North to totally dictate and enslave us economically over southern resources

Is Dangote also enjoying govt backing in the several other countries he is doing business and excelling?

You sometimes need to stop following the bandwagon, think for yourself and emancipate yourself from mental slavery.

It is good to build refineries (although we have arrived very very late to the party) but it is better to build steel Mills.

There is no developed country in the world that imports steel. Steel mills are one of the signs of a strong domestic economy.

When you talk about exporting refined products you are talking of battling an external market which involves other players but when you talk of steel Mills you are talking of what grows an economy from within.

Read to understand and not argue.

How much do we currently spend daily on steel importation compared to Petroleum imports?

What is the present domestic demand for steel in Nigeria considering our present level of industrialization?

Do you understand the concept of comparative advantage in production?

When you have this basic information, we can start from there.

It's fallacious to generalize and stereotype every Igbo person as "attacking and insulting" other regions because it seems convenient for you politically at this point.

There is absolutely no fallacy. This is fact. A review of social media commentary proves this. Nobody else calls Nigeria a Zoo endlessly. What is the stock in trade of ipob if not insults backed by a wide cross section of igbos especially youths? Who else in Nigeria calls Yorubas Afonja etc? Stop fooling yourself.

Udopasa:
FFK have written against both the Northerners and Ndi Igbo, should we generalize his attacks and insults as coming from the Yoruba?

Ango Abdulahi and other prominent Northerners have severally vilified Ndi Igbo and other regions, should we also generalize his attacks and insults to be from the North?

You are severely missing the point. Which of them is as vocal and has the wide support of IPOB? Which of them calls the country a zoo and endlessly attacks the country and its citizens? Most importantly, which of them desperately needs the political support & votes of those they're foolishly insulting?

It is profitable to be wise.

Considering how uselessly useless oil is going especially in the next 30yrs, is such capital intensive project still advisable?

Petroleum isn't the only extract after refining crude oil.

Even at that, Planes, Ships and other heavy machinery will still depend on fossil fuels for at least the next 50 years.

Copy Cat DNA always copying Alhaji.Oga Rabiu they are other sectors you can focus on.

There is nothing wrong in copying success.

Between both of them, we would have a refining capacity of over 850,000 barrels per day in a few years (our total domestic demand is just over 400k/day) leaving a whole lot for forex-earning export which will drive a dramatic fall in the Naira exchange rate with positive multiplier effects on the economy.

We need more Abdulsamad's and Aliko's in this country to build more factories and refineries for the economic development of Nigeria through job creation, import substitution, forex generation etc.

Stop insulting when you lack knowledge of what you're saying.

AD was only established in 1998 just before the elections so you have no point (they hadn't ever rejected PDP like the SE totally rejected the APC) . The same way we had northern aspirants in APP & PDP is the same way they had in AD and PDP.

Keep in mind that nobody is barring any Ibo member from contesting the APC primaries. They just aren't getting any unanimous concession, not even by a wild shot.
