Tinubu is very eloquent and intelligent. Nigerians will be proud to have him as President.
CelebritiesRe: Davido Goes Bankruptcy As He Sold His Banana Island Mansion. by funshint(m): 9:49pm On May 12, 2023
Even if he's no longer into music business, Davido can never be poor again. Apart from music, he's one of the board of directors in his father's oil company.
He might have sold the house because of the tragic loss of his son that happened in that house. The sight of that swimming pool will constantly be traumatizing to Chioma; his wife. It's best they move as part of the healing process.

Chioma is just lucky she's not a Yoruba dating Davido if he's from an Igbo family. They wouldn't have allowed Davido to marry her when she unfortunately lost her son. They'd have labelled her a witch. Culture is meant to evolve with time but no not the Igbos...they've held on to some of their barbaric practices. Crazy culture!

PoliticsRe: Ex-Minister Sale Mamman Arrested Over Alleged ₦‎22 Billion Fraud by funshint(m): 2:53pm On May 11, 2023
No wonder those two projects are still yet to see the light of the day. But my question is why now since all these years? Buhari is trying to clean up his dirty closet days to handing-over. A lot of his ministers should be getting prepared to go to jail starting from the Minister of Finance, AGF Malami and that one in Humanitarian ministry. Those guys are super thieves.

My brother calm down. Even as you are now, there are places you will walk into in this our Nigeria, you won't know a soul there oo but someone by merely just seeing you will tell you you are Igbo or Yoruba etc. I have experienced it first hand. Sometimes no matter how you try to code yourself, one busy body will just see you as a target.
If a Ugandan or Namibian walks up to you can you identify him or her. My point is Nigerians are always loud anywhere they are thereby drawing attention to themselves and this most times puts them in security risk.

But why do these people talk like this.....how will it spell doom for you?! Did Buhari's presidency sef make the region any better? These people should desist from making inflammatory statements like this. It's not good for democracy. No one region can have it all! You already have the Vice President, Deputy Senate and Speaker of the House; what else do you want again?! These people must be cautioned, our country must move forward.

So, if you were selling bread that cost you N1000 a loaf to make, you would sell it at N200 per loaf to help poor Nigerians.

No profit to pay your suppliers, and workers, and your taxes, and yourself.

But hey, that's the thing you endorse.

Good afternoon.

And don't call me an APC, Buhari, or tinubu supporter again, and I am not in the power sector.
If you're not in the power sector or a direct beneficiary you won't be saying all these. We're seeing the last of all these DISCOS. Most of them will soon leave business for competent and financial strong companies to come into the power sector.

nairalanda1:
Oga, things cost money.
Thank God we're entering a new administration. If you think all the nonsense you did under Buhari will be tolerated by Tinubu; you're joking. How will you even explain this to him? The Tinubu I know will rather tell you to close down than to impose any further increase which does not guarantee supply. He's someone that rationalizes things alot. Tinubu will review the privatization done in the power sector and believe you me; many of you will leave business for lack of capacity. We're actually seeing the last of your nonsense in this country! angry

.

They do. Very much so. And yes, they reject power from GENCOS becasuse their low monies from tarrif collection means they cannot pay for the power they eventually reject. If they accepted it, the debt they would incur would make their current disastrous debt look like chicken change.

And who were allowed to SET THEIR PRICES. Nothing like price controls, and services back in the day were very bad (The reason why many Nigerians started having two phone lines is because for a time you could not use MTN lines to call other networks and vice versa, and you could not call NITEL lines or any other land lines)

But they were allowed to SET THEIR PRICES.....and as a result, they made a profit and made things better, and prices eventually came down because compettion.

DISCOS can't set their prices...and government even prevented them from rasing their prices as allowed by the laws for two years.

Oga, even with the price increases, government DOES NOT LET DISCOS RAISE PRICES ABOVE WHAT IT COSTS TO PRODUCE POWER.

Now before you quote me again, answer this question.

You are rasing chickens, and it costs you N5000 to raise one chicken. Broilers. Would you sell them at N1000 to help the poor, or at N7000 to make a profit?
How do you want to make more money when you're not even supplying the electricity? Even at the current rate does the supply commensurate with what people are paying for? Give us the steady power first and let's see if people won't pay even if the tariffs increases. If you people lack the capacity and funds to do business it's better they unbundle you people and bring in serious investors who have the financial and technical muscle for the power sector. You can't come and strangulate us with high tariffs just because you want to keep your business afloat.
PoliticsRe: Cost Of Electricity Consumption In Nigeria Cheapest In The World – FG by funshint(m): 12:33pm On May 07, 2023
nairalanda1:
Yeah we had the same issues with NITEL...then we brought in the GSM companies, which not only did well, but beat NITEL very well

Why? Because private companies rely on the profit they make. That is why sabotage cannot work for them.

Electricity in Nigeria, wherther they work or not, when they were owned by government, money always came from government, plus they could use wayo to get more money.

Once they were privatised, government put in place PRICE CONTROLS...which meant that for them to make more money they had to resort to wayo means since price controls in essence made them operate at a loss. Then there is the fact that 30-40% of customers DO NOT PAY FOR POWER.

You want things to run well...you need to make a profit. Last time I checked, Nigeria does not manufactre anything needed for power generation and distribition except cables and meters.
The tariff is not the issue here, most of these Discos lacked the technical know-how and capacity to operate. To the extent that they even reject load from the Gencos. Unlike the telecoms sector where established companies were brought into the country, NEPA was broken down and sold off to politicians who had next to zero technical knowledge and capacity to handle such a critical sector. Also most of these companies didn't have the initial financial capacity to buy NEPA. What they are trying to do by raising tariff which does still not guarantee steady power supply is trying to rub Peter to pay Paul. So people should pay more for darkness; does this make any sense to you? This is pure evil!

PoliticsRe: Cost Of Electricity Consumption In Nigeria Cheapest In The World – FG by funshint(m): 11:55am On May 07, 2023
nairalanda1:
The fact those countries charge higher is why they can afford sustained power.

Plus, Ghana gets 25% of its gas supply for power from Nigeria, for example.
Believe me even if Nigeria charges as much as those countries it still wouldn't guarantee steady power supply. Nigeria's epileptic power is actually a human problem. There are people in the power sector who are profiting heavily from the darkness. Except the next government deal with the deep corruption in the power sector and review the shambolic privatization done by the previous GEJ administration nothing will change. Most of these Discos were actually setup for revenue collection for the govt; not to facilitate improvement in the power situation. That's the frank truth. The privatization was a scam!
