Yeah you're right a new leadership icon has emerged in the East in the person of "Peter Obi". I pray he doesn't merge his party with that NNDP now. It'll water down whatever achievement he's made so far. Though he might not win the Presidency, but let him start by building from the base because I know if he can retain Labour Party in it's form now, they'll win a lot of Senate and Federal House of Reps seats. Infact he can using that as a strong bargaining tool for whoever eventually becomes the President.

Even if Peter Obi was to be Atiku's candidate he wouldn't have won. He wouldn't have won or even come 2nd in the PDP primaries had he stayed. It's a nice move for him...he won't win the Presidency definitely neither will Atiku but he's going to pull a lot of influence in the East. I see his party clearing most of the Senate/HOR seats in the East.
