it's a time we the youth of this nation start facing the reality, Jonathan came into power with a fair mind and his motion was noted,first he was focusing to balance all the unbalance political issues our pass president's left.the northerners have notice his view as a view that can bench them northerner not to produce a president in this country in future now they came up with boko haram to discredit him,well i used to blame GEJ but i sat down and analyzed what is going on in our politics i came in conclusion that we need to wipe away this old fools call northern leaders,though GEJ is dull i am sure if someone radical is there and gain the support GEJ have so far gain from the SE/SS he would just got ibb,atiku,buhari,and co arrested and eliminate them for holding this country ransomed,please we need to stop blaming GEJ let support him and encourage him to do well.

Achebe Ignorant of Nigerian Situation, says President Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday said he regretted  the decision of US based Nigeria literary giant, Prof. Chinua Achebe to once again, reject the conferment on him of the national honour of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR).

In a statement issued on his behalf by Reuben Abati, his spokesperson, the President Jonathan also said he surprised by “Achebe’s claim that the issues which caused him to reject the same award seven years ago, still remain unresolved” arguing that the literary giant may not be aware of true contemporary political situation in Nigeria.
“Coming as it does, against the background of the widely acclaimed electoral reforms undertaken by the Jonathan Administration, the claim by Prof. Achebe clearly flies in the face of the reality of Nigeria’s current political situation.
“As reflected in the immense improvements recorded in the conduct of the last general elections which were applauded within and outside the country as the most credible elections in Nigeria in recent years, the Jonathan Administration has made tremendous efforts to positively change the political architecture complained about by Prof. Achebe and other Nigerians.
“Politically, Nigeria cannot be said to be where it was in 2004 as the Jonathan Administration has embarked on extensive electoral reforms to institute a regime of electoral integrity that all Nigerians can be proud of, believing that governance will be greatly enhanced in the country if the will of the people prevails at elections.
“While President Jonathan acknowledges that there are still challenges in the path of Nigeria’s attainment of its full potentials as a nation, he believes that his Administration is moving the country in the right direction and therefore deserves the support, encouragement and cooperation of all citizens.
“The President continues to hold Prof. Achebe in very high esteem in spite of his regrettable decision which may have been borne out of[b] misinformation as to the true state of affairs in Nigeria[/b] and hopes that he will find time to visit home soon and see the progress being made by the Jonathan Administration for himself.
“Prof. Achebe remains in President Jonathan’s consideration, a national icon, a Nigerian of high attainments, indeed one of the greatest living Africans of our time”, Abati concluded in the statement he signed on behalf of his boss.

what is it with Nigerians and their fixation with the south east. Any discussion will lead to the south east. if we hate them so much lets allow them leave. just saying. by the way this is the only Nigerian site that is filled morons who only argue emotionally without making sense.

Back to the topic, every region in Nigeria can stand on their own if they have visionary leaders that will lead unselfishly. the north can invest heavily on agriculture and can stand on their own very well. they can invest in education and change the way the average man on the street thinks. i served in maiduguri and i remember how we used to go from house to house begging parents to send their kids to school even providing school materials and bags for them and yet they refused.

If they are able to keep Islamist extremist at bay and the current northern elite are wiped out, the north ca be a shining example of self sustainability.

and for all my south western brothers that keep yapping their mouth on this site, you are not better than anyone. everybody is in the ethnic group is in the same boat until they prove otherwise.

I still believe Nigeria as a Nation will Triumph. God bless Nigeria
