The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has given tertiary institutions the nod to begin first and second choice admissions for 2020/2021 from August 21. The board said the deadline for admissions would be communicated to heads of tertiary institutions at a later date to be determined by the Federal Government. JAMB insisted that the admission processes must be conducted on Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), warning institutions not to bypass the system. The board said these in its 2020 admission guidelines signed by its Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, and released on Sunday by its Head of Media and Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin. “The first and second choices admission exercise be conducted for all institutions from August 21, 2020, to a later date that would be determined by the Federal Ministry of Education and communicated to all the institutions.” “The uncertainties of the Covid-19 make it impossible to fix a terminal date,” the board said. JAMB explained that the guidelines for 2020 admission would enable participants in admission process to know what to do. The board warned heads of institutions against flouting decisions of its 2020 policy meeting, held last month, insisting that all admissions must be carried out in honest and transparent manner. “The guidelines explain the nitty-gritty of the processes of admission of candidates into the Nigerian tertiary institutions. “All heads of institutions and admission officers are advised to carefully study and understand the content of the document with a view to implementing it fully for a seamless and transparent admission exercise. “The decisions as well as the policy directives as contained in the address of the Honourable Minister of Education at the policy meeting shall serve as the guidelines for the 2020 admissions exercise.” “All heads of tertiary institutions are to ensure total compliance with the guidelines. “Sanctions shall be applied to institutions that violate the decisions,” the board said. The board said it has stopped illegal or irregular admission in any form, saying all admissions must pass through it. It said: “All applications for admissions to First Degree, National Diploma (ND), National Innovation Diploma and the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) into full time, Distance Learning, Part Time, Outreach, Sandwich, etc, must be processed only through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). “Institutions, which are still involved in advertising or selling application forms for admissions into the programmes, should stop henceforth. “Institutions should advise candidates to apply to them through JAMB. Duplication of application forms is not allowed. “JAMB and the three regulatory agencies – (National Universities Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) – will ensure that all tertiary institutions comply with this policy directive. “The duration of all non-full time studies must be maintained as approved by the regulatory agencies. This is generally not less than 150 per cent of the equivalence of full time,” JAMB added. Source:https://www.royalng.com/breakinggood-news-as-jamb-admission-to-begin-on-this-datesee-date/ |
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has made more clarifications on who should pay the biblical tithe. The dictionary defines tithe as the one-tenth part of something, paid as a contribution to a religious organization or compulsory tax to government.Nowadays, people like to call it 10% of someone's income that must be paid to churches. The payment of tithes has been generating discussions among Christians and other believers from time immemorial. There are some who believe the payment of tithes is not compulsory or mandatory. This category of people tend to attack pastors who lay emphasis on the payment of tithe in their churches. They said tithe was an old thing and no longer in practice. But, Adeboye, during today's Sunday service clarified that payment of tithe is compulsory for all Christians. He said some people have tagged the message in Malachi 3:8-11 as a law for the Seeds of Abraham.Adeboye agreed, saying there is no doubt about that. However, he clarified that all Christians are the seeds of Abraham, according to Galatians 3:13-14. Galatians 3:13-14[13]Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:[14] That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.Adeboye said if the law to pay tithe in Malachi chapter 3 is from the children of Abraham, and Galatians 3:13-14 has established that all Christians are the children of Abraham, then all Christians must pay tithe. He recalled how Jacob flourished when he fulfilled his promise to pay tithe in Genesis 28:10-22; saying Moses was not born when Jacob made a vow to pay tithe. The man of God told a story of a man who has even decided to surrender 90% of his earnings to God as the Senior Partner in his business and all endeavours. He said he would not have said much about the topic to outsiders, but to his ‘children' alone. He said many may not understand the message. The senate President, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan has on Thursday being 16th July 2020 intervened on behalf of Nigerian government a peaceful protest staged by Npower beneficiaries over the news of disengagement by the minister in charge of Npower, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farooq without “enhancement scheme” earlier promised. Beneficiaries who embarked on peaceful protest from eagle square to National Assembly in Abuja carried various placards with different inscriptions such as, “We Cannot Go Back To Streets To Start All Over”, ” We Have Families Who Depend On The N30,000 Monthly Stipend; How Do We Survive Now?”, “Nigerian Graduates Are The Future Of Nigeria. Treat Them Better”, ” If You Can Pay Bokoharam, Militants N65,000 Monthly since 2012 uninterrupted, Why Can You Pay Law Abiding Nigerians N30,000 Monthly? “, ” You Promised Us Enhancement Scheme Before 2019 Election, Why Do You Want To Do The Opposite “, ” Don’t Force Us To Cause Unrest” “Give Us Permanent Jobs”, ” Your Children Are In CBN, FIRS, & Other Juicy Offices But See Us Battling With Npower N30, 000?” “Nigeria Has More Than Enough Money To Pay Us” … among other placards too numerous to capture. Reacting to the protesters, Senate President Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, asked them to come back next week Thursday being 23rd July 2020 for table negotiation. Speaking further, the senate President, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan commended the protesters for maintaining the rules of “social distance” despite their anger stressing that necessary steps would be taken not throw them back to the streets. Earlier, the spoken person of the protesters Mallam Muhammed A, thanked the senate Leader, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan for giving them attention adding that though it is not a speech making day but all they want is permanent jobs as promised by the federal government from the beginning. He emphasized that government plot to disengage them without “enhancement scheme ” is a call for social evils such as stealing, kidnapping, and of course high rate of unemployment. Muhammad told Senate President that the excuse flying around that batches A and B Npower beneficiaries have to be disengaged for batch C to come in is a plot by Enemies of Buhari’s government to truncate his most adored “legacy” of addressing unemployment pointing that the coming of batch C has nothing to do with federal government’ s earlier promised of permanency as he added that the programme can even be expanded to have upto batch A to Z. While exchanging pleasantry with the Senate president and some of his colleagues, a meeting has been scheduled for negotiation come Thursday next week(Read full details) Source:https://www.royalng.com/breaking-senate-intervenes-as-npower-beneficiaries-protest-give-fresh-update-on-permanency-of-batch-a-and-b/ |

School Reopening: Not All Students Are Affected, See Schools Not Permitted To Write WAEC Yesterday, the Education Minister, Adamu Adamu issued a proclamation on the planned WAEC examinations that had been earlier scheduled for August 13th. The minister had announced that all secondary schools under the control of the federal government will not be a part of the examinations. With this information, so many students had voiced out their worry over the lingering issue which has put all of them in a position of confusion since the academic calendar has been altered by the COVID-19 pandemic. With this information, it is pertinent to really understand what the minister meant as most students feel the information is for all schools. The Special Assistant to President Buharion Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi had also given some clarification on his verified twitter handle as well. By schools controlled by the federal government, this means the federal schools otherwise called the unity schools. Recall the Examination body WAEC had come out to announce the annual examination will be taking place August 3rd. Making the announcement, the Head of Nigeria National Office, Patrick Areghan added that the exams which is billed to hold between August 4 and September 5, would run daily from Monday to Saturday. In order to curb the wide-spread COVID-19 pandemic, the body had taken some measures which include: Schools should provide wash-hand buckets with running water, soaps, hand sanitizers, and thermometer hand-gun to check the temperature of students He also added that all examination staff including the council’s staff on distribution, supervisors, invigilators, inspectors, candidates, and even school officials are required to wear face masks, wash and sanitize their hands daily, and throughout the duration of the examination. In Nigeria, the number of unity schools stands at 104 with southeast having 12, South-south - 17, Southwest - 18, Northwest - 18, North-central - 24, and the Northeast - 15. These are the schools not permitted to write WAEC. Although the FG has called on the WAEC Office to rescind their decision on conducting the exams, the body has not made any pronouncement on that. With this, if the exam body decides to go ahead with the examination, it means private schools can go ahead with the exams(Read Full details) Source:https://www.royalng.com/school-reopening-not-all-students-are-affected-see-schools-not-permitted-to-write-waec-2/ |

See The Book Hushpuppi Was Fond of Reading. Did it Influence Him in Anyway? It is no longer news that the famous Socialite and Instagram celebrity Hushpuppi has been apprehended by FBI and Interpol on account of money laundering charges in the tune of over 170 billion naira. As we continue to torchlight on the flamboyant and extravagant lifestyle of Hushpuppi, there are a couple of things about him that is worth highlighting. If you take a thorough view at most of the pictures Hushpuppi posted on social media, you would notice that the few places he showed himself reading, he was often seen reading FORBES MAGAZINE. Forbes Magazine is a leading source for reliable business news and financial information across the globe. It is highly motivational and can make one aspire for greatness and riches. Forbes Magazine is a global leading news media focusing on business, investing, technology, entrepreneurship, leadership, and lifestyle. It has featured several elites, business magnates and great achievers across the globe. Almost like winning a lifetime lottery, appearing on the front page of Forbes Magazine is undoubtedly a huge achievement which deserves much accolades. It is like a lifetime certification and endorsement of your reputation before the whole world. Among a few Nigerians who have made it to the front-page of Forbes Magazine are our own former Minister of Agriculture and President of African Development Bank, Adesina Adewunmi. We also have Business magnate Cosmos Maduka of Coscharis group who is into Automobiles, Agriculture and so on. Unfortunately, another Nigerian who has appeared on front-page of Forbes Magazine is Invictus Obi. Just like Hushpuppi, Invictus Obi was also apprehended by FBI on account of money laundering charges and was given a very disgraceful treatment in the view of the whole world, despite appearing on Forbes Magazine front-page. Invictus Obi was known to be a very young Business man who invested in the Oil and Gas sector, Agriculture, etc. Very little did the world know that he was a fraudster until his case was unveiled by the FBI. Talking about Hushpuppi fond of reading FORBES Magazine, was it likely that he longed to appear on its front-page one day, perhaps like Invictus Obi? Did Forbes Magazine actually influence him in anyway? Was the motive behind his flamboyant and extravagant display of wealth intended to get the attention of Forbes Magazine? But on another note, if he knew pretty well what later became of Invictus Obi, shouldn't he have rather played safe? What do you think about this? Federal Government Gives fresh Update Resumption of schools, warns Makinde, other governors Following the increasing cases of coronavirus in the country, the federal government has warned the state governments against the reopening of schools because of pressure from the children and parents. It was reported that the minister of state for education, Chukwuemaka Nwajiuba, who spoke on Monday, June 22, while reacting to questions at the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, also said the Federal Ministry of Education did not give Oyo state any guidance to reopen schools. RoyalNG gathered that Nwajiuba said he was particularly concerned about the spike in the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Oyo state, saying it was Ogun state under lockdown that was actually the concern of the government. He, however, announced that the final year students preparing for the West African Examination Council (WAEC)’s Senior Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE), National Examination Council (NECO) and National Business and Technical Education Board (NABTEB) examinations would soon be allowed to resume for revisions. He appealed to parents and other stakeholders to continue to bear with the government while the situation is being monitored so as to guarantee the safety of children when the schools are eventually reopened. The minister said: “The ministry of education did not give guidance to Oyo state to reopen schools. We also think that is a little bit of contradictory because if you look next to them is Ogun state that actually had a lockdown. “So, there is no reason why there should be more numbers in Oyo state than there are in Ogun state, where we thought we had the problem. Something is not okay in that respect. However, Oyo state like all other sub-nationals have Governors and under our Constitution, governors are responsible for their states. “You may have heard from our interactions with you that out of 774 local governments in Nigeria, there are actually few LGs with a lot of this burden. Therefore, it is very easy to get perception from the edges of the country that some things are not happening, because it is not happening within your immediate locality." Nwajiuba, however, said that the primary purpose of government is the security of its citizens, stressing that public health was key and primary in the security delivery. He said this was why the government has been extremely conscious of making any pronouncement around the reopening of schools. He insisted that the education sector owns the largest number of infrastructure in the country with 138,000 primary schools around the country. The minister noted that Nigeria has not even gotten into optimal testing and could not even forecast the hazard the pandemic is most position at, saying the least government could do was to keep the children he described as the most pride and future of Nigeria under lock and key. He added that when the government was sure to release them, it would gladly do so.
