Well first of all I hold a Nigerian passport...

Second I live in this country.

Third....hospitals should be relying on NPEA. That they have to rely on generators is because we lazy Nigerians prefer generators to PHCN light....which should not be.

Fourth....our hospitals are badly funded. I should know....I am a doctor. We do not have much of the necessary equipment to do diagnostic tests. And we don't even have enough doctors, nurses, or even specialist doctors.

You cannot expect much from a country whose health budget is low...and who won't fix the lights. (It is like expecting Usain Bolt to run 100 meters....after fasting dry fast for a week beforehand).

And BTW.....do you know that that same hospital could save millions if PHCN/DISCO was working well? Think about that!(But no....generators are fine....let's ignore the fact that a big nation like Nigeria cannot generate 1/4 of its electricity needs. No....I am all right, even if I wear just one trouser alone everyday...don't need them shirts...).

In my opinion....you want your hospitals to improve.....fix the power supply, fix the staff supply....and most importantly...fix the financial supply. That is why we had it hard going fighting Ebola over here.

The money that your local hospital gets is not enough to run it properly.No Nigerian hospital can provide good service on the poor sums of money they get. (Which is about to fall thanks to the drop in oil prices.).

And thanks to the drop in power supply.....gen money finishes properly before the middle of the month.

Better blame your government....after 6 years in power we have installed capacity for 6000MW.....for a country that needs 12000MW a day. If they had been serious....your hospital won't have needed a generator in the first place.
