My new laptop came with windows 7. I accept it's better than vista. BUT windows explorer crashes all the time. The official themes are kinda large in size when u consider the speed of our most accessible internet connections although i dont have any probs cuz i use IZAP. I think they should have named it VISTA RELOADED or something cuz from what i've experienced, it's same old vista. She's just got a facelift. I opened this thread to learn of peoples opinions and not to count numbers. A poll is obviously not a good way to answer my question because it does not show the reason for individual votes among other reasons plus the question on the poll is ******* misleading.

wow! some men are already advertising themselves and some women are already falling head over heels. na wa o. This kind of men should be flogged and tied to stakes all over the world. Their sole motivation is their love for sex and female adoration, well, that is another issue. Some people are still posting without giving the question much thought and reading all other posts. I think by now we should realize that we can not answer the question by just thinking of a simple domestic affair. We have to be intuitive and allow our minds to really work over the question. My mind was wandering a few minutes ago and I think we should also ponder this: fact : all men are not equal, never mind similarities imposed by nature. Implication: men and women are not equal?

Do you people realize that because of peoples perception and knowing how some people dont act rationally, movie makers are forced to portray women who fight against men in movies as strong, bitchy( don't like that word, oh well) and temptingly sexy among other things. This, they feel helps to ward off any feeling of oppositing that might arise from fellow women who see themselves as too classy to indulge, In fact, these women are sometimes convicted based on these roles in the hearts of fellow women, I feel sleepy and my thoughts are trailing elsewhere. Keep posting thoughtful replies.

TO THE LADIES: Please before you post any reply, cool off. Especially if the question causes any aggrevation of neurons. In other words; chill and think before posting your replies. I am not trying to defend that shameless boyfriend of yours. You should not take this as a revolt against women. You could begin by creating a scene involving that other girl who likes spreading rumours about you. She's big and powerful. She annoys a guy and doesn't mind fighting as she even goes on to throw the first and second blows. The guy, (shame on him for also resorting to violence, Well thats life) not looking at it from a stand point of gender but from a stand point of being in a fight with an opponent who is aiming to do anything possible to beat him, tries his best, ensures he wins the fight. Then some people begin calling him a woman beater. Not the best scenario or illustration but start with it. Why in your opinion do you think he should not have retaliated simply because she is a woman even when she is more powerful and bent on winning. THIS IS NOT A DEBATE ON WHETHER VIOLENCE IS AN ANSWER AND PLEASE DON'T KNOCK MY ILLUSTRATION. IT IS JUST AN ATTEMPT TO PULL YOU AWAY FROM BIAS.

@ pleasers. I asked for your reasons and you didn't give any. You as a grown up should have learnt how to ponder over issues and give answers without bias. You should think of scenarios and issues that may lead to 'both' of them engaging in a fight instead of getting angry at the question and posting replies that help nobody.

@ everyone. Thanks for your responses. Especially those who thought of the question from a general standpoint and those who made points about equality. I realize that my first post might have been misleading to some especially some women who i think felt threatened or annoyed by it. I know many of you thought it mainly had to do with fighting or beating in relationships due to my mentioning of chris and rihana. The real issue is that most people will always stigmatize or show hatred towards the male in any fighting scenario involving the two genders all over the world. So enough of the ladies and gentlemen replies. Why would ladies and gentlemen raise fists in the first place( cuz they aint ladies and gentlemen? ). I also didn't like the reply about nigerian men not being gentlemen in the first place. The issue is world wide and fyi, nigerian men have twice the manliness and gentlemanly nature of all other men. ps: if you want to experience what being with a gentleman feel like, you should mail me, dont start.

@ stillwaters. I didn't conclude that women were weaker than men. I only made a point to counter the opinion that women are genetically weaker than men. I think both sexes are equal in every respect.

Regarding violence, thats their business and not the point. The sentiments and principles some people express is what i have problems with.
Especially when it leads to labeling and discrimination.

It seems you imagine my post as a quest to justify hitting women and as such you have decided to fight for women all over the world cuz you think we are going to conclude that there is nothing wrong with beating( Hope you realize the difference) women. congratulations! you are our hero.  

Well, I am glad that I received a few sensible replies and I am happy to know that there are people who reason daily. May God bless those who have decided to judge and label me a woman beater already. I knew it was going to happen.

I hope we all agree that there is no reason why a man should hit anybody( i know, violence. thats his business) and be labeled a woman beater except in certain circumstances. No more generalizations.

Anybody that still has a reason apart from love, gentlemanly and related things should post and educate us.

We all know they are wrong for fighting. Shame on them and anyone who resorts to violence for any trivial issue. The only problem is when the man is being labeled for fighting against the woman who was also fighting (get it? ).

@ Missy B. I stopped trying to get attention in my childhood. I think the fact that I wish to know the reason for other people's opinion and not force mine on them is proof of the fact that I am not a child. I asked for reasons for your opinions and I am yet to receive any. I did not ask the question to get attention. I hardly ever post things not related to programming or gaming on this forum. I noticed principles and sentiments i could not accept given certain conditions instead of educating me, You are engaging me in a battle of words. The fact that something like fighting is not good does not mean people don't do it. Understanding the causes and effects of this issues including why and how people respond to them is what i am trying to understand. If you can not give a reason for your thoughts, then please allow others to give their reasons. DO NOT HINDER ME FROM LEARNING OF OTHER PEOPLES OPINIONS.

i also wish to  state once again that i have never hit nor do i plan to hit women. this is just to determine the reasons for certain sentiments and principle. i hate it when people just express opinions or hold silly principles that can not be backed up. this s not about lovers or morals. everyone knows fighting, discrimination and bullying is wrong in the first place. missy b and others should take note of that.

@ missy b. You should be able to differentiate a joke from a statement meant to point out the fact that your reply inferred that you think like the crowd and did not give a good reason. I asked for a reason for your sentiments and opinions and you were attacking me instead. argumentum ad hominem. You should read the recent posts to understand better. This is not about being gentlemanly. Imagine a woman of considerable size and strength attacking a weaker male. If the male were to retaliate and win the fight, he'd be labeled as a woman beater. @ talk2sulta. Thanks you obviously get the question and I now believe I posted this question in the wrong section. It's obviously meant for ladies to write about their dreams and thoughts that relate to romance and not for serious issues. People don't realize that romance or love among the sexes is a serious issue and their perceptions affect them on a whole bigger scale than they can imagine.

@ lovemoi2. You are obviously one of those who don't think of anything except romance, chivalry and 'real men'. The question is not about 'she hit me first' issues related to lovers. It is about two random people of different genders annoying themselves and fighting, and the way people perceive the male involved.

@ asha 08. You should know that men have fought women in wrestling. It's however not done regularly as Promoters are not sure of 'what people would think. Do you watch WWE and TNA regularly? You should search for some old tapes and remember to think before posting.

@ missy b. You obviously think like one of those ancient africans who were well trained but never hesitated when it came to killing twins, burying people alive e.t.c. The issue is not about me or anyone treating people in certain ways. Its about perception and reasoning. So drop that African fallacy about having morals than others and start thinking. The only sensible thing i've read is the 6th point raised by izeek. the rest of your posts are stupid and baseless especially that of the first person to reply.I expected you people to read and answer my questions rationaly and objectively. Hey people!

Could any of you educate me on why people think a man should never hit a woman? The issue has been on my mind lately, not because I'm itching to beat anyone( just so the stupid ones know. ) but because I've noticed so many people expressing the opinion that it is wrong and yet I can't find a reason to justify this.

What do you people think? Can anyone give a sensible and convincing reason for his/her opinion as clearly as possible so we can get this sorted.

To me, men and women are equals in every respect and i see no reason scientifically or sinfully( I don't think i should say religiously) why they can't engage in whatever form of physical exercise( forgive whatever thought this creates ) in their everyday interactions. Although it is a fact that most men bully women, the probability of doing the same to other males who they may perceive as weak is the same, given the right conditions. So before we label anyone a 'woman beater' ( yeah, you Chris Brown haters,  bring it on ), lets educate ourselves on the perception of this species.

Before you post, You should also know that the fact that women are 'expected' to be soft, charming and whatever, is not a reason. Most women also engage in fights and would not hesitate to throw blows if the opponent is perceived as a weak male.

chill man, i didn't mean any insult to anyone with the os comment. I was trying to notify anyone who might suggest it that gaming was the priority.
I went to comp village on friday to get a new one but my dad was in a hurry and i had go for my lectures at unilag. I discovered the one the seller was trying to give me did not have nvidia or ATI radeon video card. So i decided to wait till next week.
I'll try adding linux to the new pc. Hope this wont cause problems on win 7.
PS: I tried some of the solutions before formatting. It still didn't work and that was why i formatted it. I'll make sure i take care of the new one better,  Does anyone know where i can get Gears of war for pc?

Guys, i need a lasting solution to this. My DELL INSPIRON E1505 laptop has a big problem. I'm operating on win xp and the laptop uses a dual core processor with 1.6 ghz. The ram is one gig and everything has been running smoothly till last month. I used to be able to play games like PES 09 and others on it and everything was working fine.
Last month i noticed the laptop was beginning to run slower and hung on several occasions.
I recently posted a topic concerning it and was told to format it or use another OS.
I formatted and reinstalled the win xp but the problem is still persisting. Sometimes when i check the speed, it displays 5.3 ghz or even speeds like 38.5 ghz instead of 1.6 ghz. Please i need to know if the processor has a problem or what the problem is so i can fix it as soon as possible.
Please i need your answers and nobody should suggest getting other Operating systems unless they can run nice games.

The sleep() worked fine but i used some variables and a formula to create a limit of 1 to 10 for the rand() cuz i wanted to use it to determine turns for first attack and also if the cpu dodges or is hit by the attack. I'll make sure i post it from my PC later(currently posting from mobile).

I just got into unilag's diploma programme and i'm currently being bombarded with lectures but thanks for the posts. Time isn't on my side right now as i'm yet to find accomodation and settle into the enviroment.

PS: A few weeks back, i was making a prototype battle function for the text based adventure i was making but when i used the c++ rand() in it, i notice the outcome was the same each time i ran the program. Is there any solution to it and how can i make the program sleep for a few secs before printing each output?

I upgraded my DELL INSPIRON E1505 laptop to vista recently but i noticed the upgrade messed with a couple of my drivers.
I've checked the dell website and i've downloaded available drivers but the monitor is still showing up as a generic monitor which is affecting my video resolutions and worst, i cant install my joypads anymore.
While i was using xp, the pad was installed automatically and it was functional till after the upgrade.
Anybody with a solution should reply quickly. Thanks.

My eyes are beginning to hurt) just in case i happen to have any money while passing by. I recently passed through yaba market but didn't know any good places. In my haste to get home i found a roadside bookseller who suggested getting me a few books. I bought the black art of java game programming from him and told him i'd buy the deitel c++ book if i passed by which is next wednesday. I got home and discovered that the book was a few years old(real old. It was based on jdk 1 .0.2) and examples it used contained some deprecated methods. Moreover, the cd containing some source codes was missing. Gosh.
