Afam: Talking about who a true hero is then talk about Fajuyi who chose death even when he had a chance to remain alive when Ironsi was about being killed. He stood by his guest and commander in chief even in the face of death even though he was a Yoruba man. He remains one of the bravest Nigerian and will continue to earn the respect of all well meaning Nigerians.
This is the kind of stupidity many see as heroism and bravery.
What did Fajuyi achieve with his action?
Nothing.
He is dead, the person he tried to protect is dead, the people that killed them ruled Nigeria for years.
texazzpete: Ironic and amusing how cowed people living contentedly under deviant rulers can call other people 'cowards' with a straight face. If self-preservation and a total love for life was not the most pressing thing to you all, wouldn't you have gone ahead with the revolution you've all be threatening to declare for so long?
We all belong to a generation that has failed at every turn to force our point through to the Government. Except for a few of the ND millitants who have been able to force a superior power to bend to their point of view, what have you lot done?
russellino: The man was NO COWARD. He was very smart and adapted himself to a role that would see him survive all the madness that the country was sinking into. Its ironic that his fancy footwork didnt see him live as long as ojukwu or gowon though as he died soon after the civil war. Pity we'll never know what his role in history might have been.
Some people think until you get yourself killed out of idiocy is the only time you can be seen as "brave", "hero" and "intelligent".
What makes him a Brigadier?
Is it by mere putting the tag on the forehead? Or from an appointment and responsibility to command an army of men?
Some people think it is the former, not the latter.
If those men decide to not take command, how does that reflect on you when you have not done anything out of character to warrant that respond?
biina: IIRC the story was that he gave a command to a sergeant (a northerner) who refused to obey unless his commanding officer (a major also from the north), who was away, confirmed the command on his return. Ogundipe then felt that if the major was to order the sergeant to shoot him, the sergeant wil likely comply as it seemed the Sergeant would only obey someone from the northern part of the country and had no deference for the rank involved.
I would say he was a coward for running away without helping to arrest the situation.
This is frankly a very moronic statement.
How is he suppose to arrest the situation?
By shooting the thousands of Northern soldiers and imposing his will and ideals?
Instead of you to talk about poor and immature military establishment, structure and culture, you are alluding to some cowardice.
Flets: APC started it all with their useless projections that holds no water. I dont believe this either but am certain of a GEJ victory.
He said he will stabilize crude oil prices He said he will equalize $1 to 1naira He said APC is all progressive confidence He said INEC is Independent Nigerian electoral commission He said Muslims should vote only muslims He avoided a national debate for a role he desires He refused to provide his certificate He promised to soak dog and baboons in blood He is committed to the spread of sharia in a secular state like Nigeria He said an attack on bokoharam is an attack on the north
Who in his right senses will wish this kind of human preside over him?
I am yet to see a smart Buhari supporter.
And you think you are smart considering you support GEJ?
1toRtoiSe1: Yes, Nigeria has passed an anti-gay bill subjecting anyone caught in a gay act to a sentence of 14yrs in prison. But how long do you think such a law will last? Not for long, with the recent trend of events. Why? Because we as a nation are getting exposed more and more to a medium that promotes LGBT(lesbians-gays-bisexuals-transgender). That medium is the products of the american movie industry, hollywood.
Ever bought an american movie in the past to discovered the subtle way in which homosexualism is promoted? Well, it's now in your face. Currently, the world is getting carried away from the trend of movies that don't span beyond 2hrs to movies that go beyond hundreds of hours, cos most viewers often wished some movies don't end, a reason why series came into the picture, getting people glued to their TVs consuming the contents of such movies.
Has anyone noticed the alarming rate at which the american movie industry promotes gay? No american movie goes by without a gay content this days. From Oz to spartacus, tyrant to tudors, game of thrones to housewives etc. Even the 2hrs movies of today hardly go without a gay content, even if it's just the mention of the word GAY e.g the INTERVIEW and 50 SHADES OF GREY.
I was cruising round town with my brother and a friend yesterday when some radio OAPs were discussing about a new TV series called EMPIRE. I wasn't interested in their discussion till my bro and his friend started talking about how interesting the series is, that they can't wait to get the 2nd season. I decided to get the season 1 on my way back. Barely 10minutes into the first episode, I was greeted by a scene showing 2 grown guys kissing and acting all emotional. The characters were jamal and his girlfriend michael.
What annoys me most is the way they( the directors of these movies) try to persuade people into thinking there's nothing wrong with the homosexualism, giving it a good promotion...like making the gay character appear as someone with a good heart but clearly misunderstood. They throw in a gay relationship that is deeply rooted in a 100% love, honesty, faithfulness and loyalty, making straight people jealous cos a 100% of everything is not obtainable in a straight relationship. The gay character in the series EMPIRE, jamal, was giving a very attractive role so as to lure unsuspecting viewers into the world of gayism. In the movie, he's from a rich family with a music empire, the most talented among them with a voice to kill any female, the gentle one, loves a kid he's not certain of it's paternity(how many guys do that?), the only one who cares about their ex-convict mum and several other qualities that can make a die-hard homophobic person go emotional and accept him for who he is. Everybody loves a guy with the above qualities. To pave way for the acceptance of homosexualism, the several hollywood directors are now moulding characters with such qualities and making them gay. Such strategy leaves viewers toning down their hate or dislike for homosexuals.
And that's where I fear for Nigeria. In the next few years, going by the rate at which we are exposed to the hollywood contents, majority of those that jubilated when the anti-gay bill was passed, will storm the streets demanding for its reversal.
We need a bill to ban programmes that promote or glorify it.
latability: Buhari pls control ur boys... U will never no peace if in a way you have hand in this. Since this boko haram issue started, you have said nothing about it and u are coming out for president claiming to stop them when u win.. God is watching u...
say no to a boko haram sympathize.
What a stupid statement.
The same Boko Haram that wanted to bomb him when the slow-brain in Aso Rock did nothing for 6 years apart from flying money in suitcases on private jets to South Africa?
TheOtherview: The brief-case research group is run by a jack-of-all-trades known as O.C Vince (Vincent Onyekwelu) No website, no footprint, no paper trail.
Mynd44: These are screen shots from the site. You can also do a search and see if the said group has ever been mentioned anywhere else. Here, it is said that the association is UK based. In 2010, it was said to be Lagos based.
Keep the lies coming
Roflmao.
Next time, PDP would tell us their fake research firm is based in Azerbaijan.
melvinjames: So Nigerians are not that stupid afterall? Nigerians have now realized "change" comes from young people, not 75yrs old men.
Some Nigerians are still stupid o, my brother.
They are the Nigerians that believe a research firm that does not exist conducted a [fake] survey of Nigerians and found out that they realized change comes from failed and corrupt young people with a wife that keeps on disgracing the nation, not 75 year old good men.
Kevin, Charlyn & Kimberly Associates, a UK based research and political risk consultancy firm has stated that incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party will win the 2015 Presidential Election with a margin of 13 per cent (probability).
The group which used both ‘monkey survey’ and ‘Political Risk Index’ to forecast the Nigerian election projected a Jonathan’s win if everything remains constant.
In a statement by Mr. O.C Vince, the Vice President of the firm for West Africa while addressing a press conference today in Abuja, explained that the firm has no partisan interest in the outcome of the election which is left for the people of Nigeria to decide. The company said it decided to conduct the survey because of the general global interest the Nigeria election has generated. ‘Many people around the world, including political leaders and investors are focusing on Nigeria to see how the process of democracy is managed’. Mr. Vince said the ruling Peoples Democratic Party appear to be facing its toughest challenge in 16 years and hoped the efforts they have made will help deepen and strengthen democracy in Nigeria and enable the different contending parties manage their final push toward 2015.
Here’s the full statement:
We randomly conducted a nationwide opinion poll focusing on the six geo-political regions of Nigeria: North East, North West, North Central, South West, South East and South- South. The sampled population were asked three questions centering on human rights, the economy and security.
ROCKJ1: that's the best stadium in Nigeria presently. It needs to be properly utilised. It's a National edifice and a boost to our countries pride.
I-diot, Boko Haram is humiliating your army, your President is laundering cash in private jet owned by pastors, you have no electricity for 12 hours a day, your hospitals are mortuaries, your old people are queuing up to get their looted pensions, you have plane crashes once every 4/5 years, your citizens are dying on boats trying to get into Europe and you are saying some government wasting money on stadiums are boosting your country's pride.
Yareey: Yeah honour killings is not in our culture and even the emotional backlash will stop ones the couple get kids. My grandfathers sister married a Italian man in 1960 in Mogadishu of all places. They both survived it and their daughter grew up with my mom and her sister.
They take the boy/girl home before they get engaged. Most time they will just meet with the mother and not father. Personally I have never taken a boy home, I just don't want to deal with explaining why it didn't work out with X, Y, Z
Some will not ask your number on the streets, but they chat with you and add you on facebook. Or they will get your number from other folks. Either way it's a price worth paying!! At least I don't have to deal with rude guys. You speak as if you are a isolated hijabi lady
Again I don't know what the situation is in Africa but I see Somali couples walking hand in hand on daily basis.
Lol.
I am a Nigerian bloke.
Yes, I know they stop once kids come into the picture.
Another thing I know is that the Somali society in the West have a high divorce rate. I think that is the downside of lack of freedom to explore freely.
It is harder to know the person you are going to marry and building your social skills is impeded as you don't mix with people and different variety of people enough.
