National Security Adviser sacks all 12 directors in his office The National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Mongonu (retd), has sacked all the 12 directors in his office. The NSA inherited the directors from his predecessor, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd) who is currently facing charges of illegal possession of arms. The directors were some retired senior military officers and others who were seconded from various government agencies They were handed the letters relieving them of their services in the NSA’s office before he travelled with President Muhammadu Buhari to France on Monday Informed security sources disclosed to the Tribune Online that General Monguno had, last week Thursday, held a brief meeting with all the directors where he informed them of a lot of things going wrong in his office According to the source, the issue of allowances and welfare of junior staff were not taken serious by the directors as they allegedly did not care how the personnel were faring. He consequently directed them to prepare their handover notes within one week and hand over to their next in rank. The NSA further directed those deployed from other agencies and are still in service to return to their formations. The directors of the various departments sacked are; Departments of Internal Security, Defence Affairs, Communication, Economic Intelligence, Special Duties and Counter-terrorism Centre. Others are Departments of Lawful Interception, Behavioural Analysis, Policy and Strategy, External Security, Administration and Finance and Presidential Communication Command and Control Centre. http://tribuneonlineng.com/national-security-adviser-sacks-all-12-directors-his-office |
I ’m In Nigeria, I Was Never
Arrested Or Detained In
Saudi Arabia – Senator
Barata
A former Senator representing Adamawa South,
Hassan Ahmad Barata on Friday denied a viral
news report that he had been detained in Saudi
Arabia for making false claims.
The former senator said since completing his
tenure in the 7th Senate in June, he has not
traveled outside the country and denied the
reported claim that he has dumped the All
Progressives Congress (APC) after failing to
clinch the party’s governorship ticket.
Barata, a former Chairman of the Senate
Committee on Culture and Tourism, cleared the
air on his purported arrest and detention in
Saudi Arabia in an exclusive interview with The
Nation newspaper.
He said: “I have been in Nigeria; I don’t know
anything about anybody’s arrest in Saudi
Arabia. I am not in detention in Saudi Arabia. I
am here in the country.
“Since I left office, I have not traveled
anywhere; I have not gone to Saudi Arabia and I
have not even traveled to Cameroon.
“I had been receiving calls from many Nigerians
but I have told them that if I am in detention in
Saudi Arabia, I could not have been talking to
them.
“I am under pressure to sue for libel but this
newspaper belongs to us, I cannot go to court
against my boss whom I respect so much”.
Responding to a question, Barata said: “Since
1999, I had been in the National Assembly. I
would rather be a Senator than being a staff of
an embassy. Which one do you think is more
honourable?
“The story is somehow because as I am talking
to you, I traveled with the Governor of Adamawa
State from Yola to Kaduna for a meeting of some
governors.
“If I don’t belong to APC, I won’t be able to travel
with him. I have not defected to any party”.
He also denied the report that he was still
official or diplomatic passport.
Barata added: “I have never been using official
or diplomatic passport because I want my
passport to be rich. I prefer to be using my
green passport.
“It is such a mischief. I have surrendered
everything in my position. This is not my first
time in the National Assembly”. |
Whynotthetruth:y I am not dreaming. Buhari's presidency is a reality and his power to probe anyone he wants to probe is not in doubt. |
Whynotthetruth:Karma and whatever bad thing you can think of can catch only the thieving public office holders who you don't want buhari to probe. God willing, Buhari is going after the thieves and there'll be no hiding place for them. |
QuotaSystem:Ka dago su. Bai kamata a biye musu Ba domain niyyarsu rarrabe kanmu he. |
I'm not surprised as majority of the candidates write the exams copying answers from their handsets. |
WombRaiders:Your believe that Buhari is corrupt won't stop Buhari from being the President and commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of the federal republic of Nigeria and it also won't stop his probe of corrupt public office holders. |
WombRaiders:My point is that your point is irrelevant as it won't stop any probe Buhari wants to institute. The power is in his hands. |
All this history and grammar just to make a point that Buhari should not probe corrupt public office holders? For your information, if you don't know, Buhari is the President and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of Nigeria and he has the power and authority to probe anyone he wants to probe. You are free to wait for those with moral right to probe corrupt people to come and do so while Buhari is free to use his legitimate power to probe them. |
Why is nobody condemning the killing of the fulani by the community and the authoriy's failure to do anything about it which led to the reprisal killings? The thing is that when the Fulanis are killed nobody talks about it but when they retaliate you hear all kinds of noises. we must not be selective in our comdemnation violence we must not be selective. Let us be fair and condemn all forms of violence. |
This is just a story to justify the looting of the money. What are they going to do with fertilizer when farmers have already started harvesting their crops? What is the state government's business with renovating a hotel and is not the same Abdurrahman Abba that was telling us how the contractor, an in-law to Atiku Abubakar, cheated Adamawa state government? The government of Gov is already a candidate for the prize of the most government in the history of the state. |

This protest by this misguided elements can not be called massive. |
olajorn:There is nothing to be sorry about but I just want you to understand we cannot all be the same. Thank you for you kind responses. |
olajorn:And is that bad? |
olajorn:Is that a crime? |
Adamawa state has a history of massive looting of its resources by its previous governments but this government of Bindow is on the way to becoming the most corrupt government in the history of the state. The said N200 million for prayers and the N4 billion for fertiliser are definately ending going streight into their pockets. What are they going to do with the fertiliser when farmers have already started harversting their crops? The chief of staff Abdurrahman Abba, who seems to be the de factor governor of the state, is the chief of staff to the previous corrrupt government. |
jlinkd78:You are right Lai Mohammed's denials makes it look as if the appointment is abnormal. HoweverPDP over politicsed the appointment, |
Campaign against Daura’s appDSS DG Lawal Musointment borne out ignorance - Ex DG A former Director General of Department of State Service (DSS), Afakriya Gadzama, has warned against the ongoing politicization of Alhaji Lawal Musa Daura’s appointment as the DSS boss. In a press statement issued on Saturday, Gadzama, who was the DG of the service between 2007 and 2010, noted with dismay the ‘unnecessary politicization of what otherwise is an appointment done in the interest of the service.” The former DSS DG said competence paved the way for the emergence of the new DG of the service. “Political affiliation was definitely not a factor. What mattered was the competence of the appointee and the need to reposition the service. The president definitely wouldn’t have appointed somebody who doesn’t have the capacity and shares his vision,” he said. Gadzama said, “It is on record that Alhaji Daura is an experienced officer who has demonstrated exceptional competence throughout his service years. He held several command appointments in volatile states such as Kano, Edo and Borno. His performance in these states was exceptional. He also brought to bear his experience in security practice and management while directing staff in the several DSS training schools.” Gadzama denied the impression that only serving officers can be appointed Director General of DSS. He described the insinuation as fallacious, and one borne out of ignorance. “The world over, the head of intelligence and related services are chosen from the pool of serving or retired officers. What matters is the competence of the person to be appointed. The case of Alhaji Daura is therefore perfectly in order,” Gadzama declared. The appointment of the new DSS DG has come under intense criticism from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has accused the new DSS boss of being a card carrying member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). http://www.today.ng/news/08022923-campaign-against-dauras-appointment-borne-out-of-ignorance-ex-dss-dg/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |
Samirana360:Yes, they were attacking the military and taking over their barracks and positions. |
christinie:That's not true. I live in north east and we no longer live in fear of BH attacking and taking over towns and villages. That era of soldiers leading civilians to run away from BH is over. |
What you used to baffle us is the BH was attacking military formations and dislodging them but with the new government headed by PMB everybody knows that the era of BH attacking our soldiers and dislodging them from their barracks over. It is now pride of lions led by a lion (PMB) not a pride of lions led by a sheep (GEJ) |
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, Mr. Muhammed Bashir, is currently in trouble over the recent leadership tussle in the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt. It would be recalled that in sacking Dr. Patrick Akpobolokemi as the agency’s Director-General on July 6, President Muhammadu Buhari had directed him to hand over the management of NIMASA and all government property in his possession to the most senior officer in the agency who will remain in charge until a new DG is appointed. Following that directive, Akpobolokemi on Monday handed over to the agency’s Executive Director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services, Mr. Calistus Obi. But a mild drama reportedly played out at the agency’s Burma Road, Apapa, Lagos headquarters barely three days after when it became clear that Obi was not the most senior officer. That discovery led to the elevation of the agency’s Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mr. Baba Jauro, as the acting DG when he was discovered to be the most senior officer. Jauro was said to have formally lodged a protest against Akpobolokemi at the Ministry of Transport and Office of the Head of Service of the Federation before the reversal was made. But a source in the ministry told our correspondent on Saturday that the Permanent Secretary was suspected to have played a role in the initial elevation of Obi as the acting DG. The source said Obi had already been issued a query by the HOS, Mr. Danlandi Kifasi. Kifasi also gave Bashir a query. He added that Kifasi issued the query on the orders of the President who was angry that his directive was not followed on the choice of the acting DG. “I can confirm to you that the Permanent Secretary has been queried by the Head of Service due the embarrassment caused by that drama in the agency. He is expected to explain his role in the matter,” the source said.He said the reversal of role between the two top officials of NIMASA was a result of the investigation which revealed that although the two of them were appointed at the same time, Jauro resumed in the agency about three days ahead of Obi. “The two of them were appointed the same day but their record of resumption showed that the new acting DG resumed about three days before Obi resumed,” the source added. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, had in a statement on July 6 announced the termination of Akpobolokemi’s appointment without giving a reason for the development. Meanwhile, SUNDAY PUNCH gathered that the President would make his ministers and key aides to sign a pact not to corruptly enrich themselves while in office. Our correspondent learnt on Friday that Buhari came to that conclusion when confronted with some documents that detailed how some former government officials amassed wealth with impunity. When contacted on Friday on the matter, Adesina said nothing was strange in Buhari giving terms and conditions to whoever he engages to work with him. Adesina likened it to rules of engagement always handed down to whoever is engaged for an assignment. He said, “It is only natural that if the President engages you to work with him, there will be terms and conditions. It is not strange. Don’t forget that we had a President in this country who compelled people to sign pre-dated resignation letters. I am not saying that this President is going to do that, but it means there can always be terms and conditions. These are just like rules of engagement.” http://www.punchng.com/news/fg-queries-perm-sec-over-nimasa-leadership-tussle/ |
Zoharariel:I think you didn't get my drift. My comment is directed at the person who made a derogatory comment about Buhari going to US to ask for arms sale Sai Buhari. |
DONMAYOR19:Is this how you are going to live a miserable life for a period of four years? |
They miss him but I don't miss him. |
doctokwus:This is the most plausible explanation. Given the crude and brash nature of the former first lady, she must have offended the airport workers and now they are getting back at her.d |
Franzeez:And how does your rantings stop Buhari from being president and commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? |
Adesina with his e-wallet and phones for farmers is one of the big scams of Jonathan's administration. I have seen farmers who got allocations of two bags per farmer but I have never seen any farmer who has gotten his multi-billion naira phones. |
ideologies:I think people like you will rather believe a rumour than a person who took his time to verify the story. |
Maxymilliano:He is not but he did verify from the government that there is nothing like BH prisoner transfer and that is what you should have done instead of staging a protest over an unfounded rumour. By the way is the source that told you the story that BH prisoners are going to be transferred to Anambra state by FG, which you believe and staged a protest about, a spokesperson of the FG? |
Jazakallah. |
