It’s time to stop taking all that PR spin at face value. If the meetings were so effective, why aren’t they happening regularly? The truth is, real currency stability requires consistent policy actions and economic fundamentals not one-off announcements. If anything, those meetings should be held weekly if they truly made a difference.

Sim can personally challenge his suspension but the court of first instance will be the Federal high court and not the Supreme Court. And that exactly is the point of the author. When you’re seeking reliefs for individuals, the Supreme Court cannot be the court of first instance. So, the case of the PDP governor will suffer from the issue of jurisdiction as they should have gone to the FHC and not SC.

Yes, the Supreme Court can only be approached as a court of first instance in disputes between the Federal Government and state governments, or between states themselves. A clear example is the case on local government autonomy, which was filed directly at the Supreme Court by the Attorney General of the Federation against the states.

It is time we continue to test the strength and independence of our judiciary to see whether it will truly uphold its autonomy or continue to function as an extension of the executive arm. The judiciary must rise to its constitutional duty and assert its role as a separate and equal arm of government.

That aside, I want to relocate to Lagos. I have an uncle that used to stay in orile (2018).

I can camp in his house for the main time.

If I come to Lagos, can I get a job that can pay me like 100k and above every month. I have my waec and neco. I just turned 25.

I feel if I change environment, things will begin to go well for me.. and I heard there are lots of jobs in Lagos.

My attention has just been drawn to the Suit filed by Governors of PDP challenging the declaration of state of emergency in Rivers State. The Suit marked as Suit No: SC/CV/329/2025: ATTORNEY GENERAL OF ADAMAWA STATE & ORS v ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION & ANOR seeks the Supreme Court to nullify the State of Emergency (SoE) declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This matter is now sub judice so, no one can predict its outcome: but let me give us a background of the state of the law in relation to that suit by the PDP Governors.

In law, there is what we call judicial precedent, also known as stare decisis, meaning "to stand by things decided" and dictates that courts should follow prior rulings in similar cases, forming the foundation of our legal jurisprudence. The situation we have in Rivers State is the same with what we had in Plateau State in 2004. I do not mean that the underlying facts for the declaration of SoE in Rivers State were the same with Plateau State. No. I meant that in both situations, the Governors and Members of the House of Assembly were suspended and Military Administrator appointed to oversee the affairs of the State.

After the declaration of SoE in Plateau State, a suit was instituted at the Supreme Court against the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the National Assembly (NASS) challenging the suspension of Governor Dariye and members of the Plateau State House of Assembly. A preliminary objection was filed by the AGF and NASS. A preliminary objection is a legal argument raised at the beginning of a case by the opposing party, often challenging the court's jurisdiction or the competence of the suit. One of the grounds of the preliminary objection filed the AGF and NASS in the Plateau State case was that THE SUIT WAS NOT AUTHORISED BY THE SOLE ADMINISTRATOR OF PLATEAU STATE. The Court agreed with the AGF and NASS that as at 24/6/2004 when the plaintiffs filed the suit, only the Sole Administrator could have authorized the filing of the suit on behalf of the Plateau State of Nigeria. In the suit filed by the PDP Governors, even the Sole Administrator or Attorney General of Rivers State was not even a party. Whatever you make of this observation is entirely yours.

The Supreme Court also held that THE SUIT SEEKS RELIEFS FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE NOT PARTIES TO THE CASE AND WHO HAVE NO COMPETENCE TO MAINTAIN THE ACTION. The Supreme court has no original jurisdiction in respect of claims or reliefs for individual persons by virtue of the provisions of Section 232(1) of the Constitution. The reliefs sought were for the personal benefits of Governor Dariye and members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, who were not even parties to the suit and thus the suit cannot activate the original jurisdiction of the Supreme Court. In this same suit filed by the PDP Governors, the reliefs sought are for the personal benefits of Gov. Siminalayi Fubara. The question is: does the Supreme Court have jurisdiction to entertain personal benefits? I also leave you to make your personal conclusions.

By the doctrine of judicial precedent, the judgment of the Supreme Court binds the Supreme Court. In the light of the above explanation, I make the following observations:
1. The PDP Governors lack the locus to file the suit at the Supreme Court.
2. Only the Sole Administrator of Rivers State can can authorize the filing of such suit.
3. The suit seeks personal reliefs for the benefit of Suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and he is not even a party to the suit.
4. It is abundantly clear that the Supreme Court does not have jurisdiction to determine the suit filed the PDP Governors.

This legal opinion is offered in the light of the Supreme Court decision in Plateau State Of Nigeria & Anor. V. Attorney-General of the Federation & Anor which is similar and/or the same with the suit now filed by the PDP Governors. I will keep a tab on this case to see how it pans out.

In the meantime, I ask: why do Governors suspended during a State of Emergency fail and/or neglect to file the suit themselves? If they refuse to, can anybody cry more than the bereaved? Interesting times ahead indeed!

So, we’re expecting the sole administrator to challenge a case from which he directly benefits? That’s completely unrealistic. We weaken the rule of law when we rely on questionable precedents and make empty references.

Anyone even you have the right to challenge the SOE. Let the Supreme Court decide and, if need be, dismiss the suit. Just because something happened in Plateau State doesn’t automatically make it right or lawful.

Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has been credited with playing a critical role in stabilising the country’s currency during a period of intense economic pressure.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, made this known during a high-level security engagement held in March, jointly organised by the CBN and the Office of the National Security Adviser.

Mr. Cardoso explained that the NSA was instrumental in mobilising key government agencies to tackle the multifaceted threats undermining the Naira and the broader financial system.

“I really want to commend the commitment of the National Security Adviser,” Cardoso said.

“I want to say something that perhaps has not been said before, for various reasons. At a particularly challenging time—about a year ago—when the currency situation was becoming very difficult, we approached the NSA. There were several developments we did not fully understand at the time.

“He took it upon himself to convene a coalition of relevant agencies—the security forces, EFCC, Customs, and the CBN. I recall vividly that on a Sunday afternoon, under his leadership, we all met at his office for an extensive discussion.

“Mr. President was out of the country at the time. Upon his return the following day, we presented our findings to him. What followed from that engagement contributed significantly to the stability we are now witnessing. And I must stress that when I speak of stability, I mean genuine, sustained stability.”

Before the NSA’s intervention, Nigeria faced serious challenges to currency stability. These included volatile global oil prices, widespread crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism, reduced dollar inflows, hoarding, and rampant speculative trading in foreign exchange markets.

Mr. Cardoso further expressed his appreciation for the consistent support the CBN has received from the NSA’s office.

“The support we have received from the NSA’s office has been pivotal to our currency’s recovery. It has been truly invaluable, and we remain deeply grateful to Mallam Ribadu and his team for their unwavering cooperation,” he said.

Kemi Olunloyo claimed she had a traumatic childhood experience when her father’s selfishness led to her been molested sexually while her brother was paralyzed . The assailants then set the vehicle ablaze with the children inside. A rescuer pulled Kemi Olunloyo out, but she hit her head on the pavement and was forced to watch her brother burn alive. She was then sexually assaulted before being rushed to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), where she received 17 stitches.

Years later, Olunloyo discovered her father’s delay that day was due to an affair. “He lied. He was sleeping with his mistress while we waited,” she said, her voice laced with bitterness. “My assault all of it was his fault.”

Declaring she would never forgive him, Olunloyo made it clear she felt no grief over his passing. “I am not mourning. Send your condolences to his Facebook if you want. I’m still healing from the trauma he caused.”Kemi lamented.

The entire situation could have been handled better. In fact, it might have been more appropriate if the governor had been impeached through due process and a new leader properly installed.
