A scan might reveal NOTHING especially if it is a fuel pressure related problem.

I drive a 2013 Pajero. Yesterday my driver drew my attention to lights on the dashboard that have refused to go off even while the car has been in motion. Specificallly the sign light of ASC, the ABS and a sign showing slippery surface are not going off. I have been pressing the asc button to no avail.

Can i get an insight from experts before i talk to the garage?

Pour engine oil into the engine, start and check for leaks or white smoke on tail pipe.

Yyou do not need to be told that an engine requires lubrication (engine oil) to run properly

yeah, its an open thread, was thinking i will get input from them, well if not the outlander, i love the 07-11 civic, does it have leg pull issues? what about parts and price? is it more compared to the 03-08 corolla? thanks for your response
The civic does not have the same suspension setup as the accord and is not plagued with the tyre pull syndrome, nevertheless if you allow your ball joints wear out long enough it will pull.

honestly I don't know..... how can I find out which?
I might be unavailable online for a while (2-3hrs) so go the foot well and look at the accelerator pedal and check if it has several wires attached to it or just one single cable (like the brake lines of a bicycle) if it has several wires, check the connectors of the pic attached https://www.aa1car.com/library/throttle-by-wire-schematic.jpg and be sure they are firm and pins not corroded, also remove the battery terminal, wait 5mins and replace.

Now if you see just a single cable, trace it to the throttle cable and ensure that pressing the throttle on the inside corresponds to the butterfly opening in the throttle body/ movement of the cable on the throttle body.

Good luck.

My sister drove out but on her way back, the car just seized accelerating and the headlights went off completely(11:20pm). she managed it home like that but I have no clue as to what the problem might be. please anyone with indept knowledge should please help out.....

one more thing..... I checked the engine oil and found NON meaning it hasn't been checked in a long long time..... I just hope lack of oil is what has caused it not to accelerate...

Please.... all the car Gurus here should help me out..... Thanks....
Explain not accelerating? Because there is no way the car would have made it home.

Good day Mr Gazzuzz! Please I need your advice....My car a toyota spider had been having suspension issues. The driving isn't smooth as I always hear a sound especially when on rough roads and I feel every little bump on the road. I have replaced my shocks and stabilizer linkages but it still persists.
I know toyota but what is toyota spider? grin

Check tyre pressures and reduce to 32psi max, check the brakepad clips, and the shockabsorber again. Also check sway bar bushings.

I don't like Mitsubishi, maybe because of my 'smoky' experience with one.

However, the following would be my recommendation.

BMW E46. Wonderful driving experience. Gives you a new meaning to driving. Ensure you use synthetic engine oil plus coolant always. Lower arm issues on Nigerian roads....not much of a sweat if you can change it once a year avg.

RAV4. Sweet ride. Good resale value. An advanced Toyota corolla. Be wary of thieves and armed robbers though.

Honda Accord EOD. Flee from the V6. Avoid the fabric seat. Get a sweet leather copy with wonderful sound system. Ensure you are concerned about the shaft and hubs...they have a penchant for spoiling on third mainland bridge at 11pm.
Is the bolded from experience?

Guys!! . I need serious help with d problem i have with my honda accord 2006. D ATF oil keeps leaking from d shaft seal. My mech has changed seal and replaced d expensive ATF oil about four times within 2 months!! . It still keeps leaking. Pls i need suggestions on a possible solution..

Thanks in anticipation.
The point that makes contact with seal on CV joint might be worn out or uneven, this might lead to quick ware of the CV joint seal. The CV joint inner side might be worn out from the inside and cause excessive vibration when driving, which could make seal move out of place. Also you might be using really cheap seals. Hope the spring in the seal was not adjusted? That could cause excessive ware.

My peugeot 406 v6 covers an average of 830km on a full tank, before I bought a full tank.

My peugeot 406 I4 (EW10) covers an average of 870km on a full tank.

Fuel economy on Peugeots are very good.

Would I prefer a peugeot to a toyota or a honda NO. Peugeot vehicles are strong and durable. But not friendly when it comes to parts and repairs.

That's my personal view.
Car Talk › Re: Plz Help!!! My Car Jerks In Traffic by GAZZUZZ(m): 8:21am On Nov 22, 2015
rydow:
Good day sirs!

I think I need to run a scan on my car, as myself and my mechanic Av cleaned and changed the Idle air control valve sensor. I clean the Unit myself with TINA and petrol.

We cleaned the Air flowmeters too.

Yet the symptoms reduces but its still there.

When my mechanic drives the car I don't observe the Jerk in traffic reason been that he is rough wt driving so he smash the brake once and there wouldn't be any vibration or Jerk but if I smash the brake gently it tends to Ram down from 1 RPM to zero but later picks up without actually stoping.

2 things he proposed.

1. He said my car is OK that innitially the engine system works with the RPM above 1 which is true and I don't observe the Jerk them but it really consume fuel. So wen we reduce the slow run to exactly 1 RPM 2 days later the issue begin. He propose to increase the slow running and I reject immediately.

2. He said we should replace the fuel filter, pump, change the Idle control valve sensor.

I don't wanna beleieve increasing the slow running wil rectify the issue.

Thanks for all ur contributions
The engine in the pic is very easy to diagnose and fix, please change mechanics.

its where combustion takes place, the combustion pushes the pistons the piston pushes the cam shaft can shat to fly wheel and serpentines, the flywheel is where you have the torque or power produced and transferred the axle from axle to tires,

Hi all. I've been having trouble opening all doors on my 2006 DC with the remote key. Anytime I double tap the open button only the drivers door unlocks. The fuse for the door widow winders burns out whenever I try to open all doors with the remote keys. My mech says it's the panel of the key remote and that I have to change it. I'm not sure how a key remote would burn d window fuse. Note that the doors unlock with the central locks normally and all other controls on the remote key work fine. Can I get some advise on how to get this fixed before I change my keys. Thanks...
This sounds spiritual.....

run this small test, wind down all windows including the rear and up again and let's know th result.

OP, it is your first car. You have a budget of 900k and you may not have a lot more to spend if something goes awry. You wouldn't want your first car to sleep in a mechanic workshop for two months or more because you couldn't afford a part or worse still couldn't find a part all becuase you tried to stand out from the crowd.

Based on the above reasons, I will advise you as a nairalander to buy a car known first for its reliability, ease of sourcing parts, diagnosing issues and pocket friendly. Forget effizy for now. Its time shall come when you have the resources.

A lot of young Nigerian chaps buy the corolla or the camry because of the reasons i stated in the first paragraph. The honda accord and civic also fall into this category. The civic is not so practical because of its lower ground clearance. It gets roughed up quite easily unless you have good roads where you stay.

Another car you can probably give a try is the 3 series BMW. You can give the 318i a try if fuel economy is your concern but if not you can try out the 330i or other engine choices available. Chicks love beemers (I can testify to this. lol). It is not as pricey to repair or as difficult to diagnose as some other European cars out there.

You can also check out the Audi A4 or the sporty looking A3 hatchback. I have never used the Audi though I have a Skoda (owned by the same group that owns Audi), I can say they are ok but beware of electrical issues. They can be a nightmare if not well taken care of (Siena no vex oo). The Audi A4 may be within ur reach based on your budget.

However, like I said earlier, make your choice based on your circumstances. You wouldn't want your first car to empty you bank account just because you want to stand out.
Wise words.

Thanks.. Will do that..

But does anyone know how much it costs?

I want to have an idea of the price just incase..
Kano 15-25k. But if you need a temp permanent solution there's a way of disabling the immobilizer by cutting a circuit on the engine Ecu. Iv given you a hint but cannot give you all the detail because of security implications.
