proclinician: Oil Level or Oil Pressure
Good evening peeps. Few days ago I noticed this light attached on my Lexus es 300 as I was driving. It has been 2 months since the last oil change and I use hardex fully synthetic SAE 5W 30. I moved to my mech straight and he felt the oil in dipstick with his sense of touch and said it's light and dye for change. I told him I was more worried about that light on dashboard. I changed the oil, drove it for that day and the next but this light is still there. Am I dealing with oil level or oil pressure? My dipstick level is max even before oil change and after. How can I solve this light problem? Take out the front right tyre.
You will see an engine oil level switch like the pic below attached to the oil pan.
It is damaged .
It is pointless trying to salvage it as in almost all those models it is a very unreliable system.
Take out the wire harness connected to it and join the two wires there .the light will go off.
Gauge your engine oil regularly from the dipstick and you will be fine.

Today I took a trip to Clegg street ojuelegba , where I thought i could get most of the suspension parts. Sadly I was in the wrong market.
I was however directed to Trinity in Apapa.
The dinosaur parts can be found in excess here.

Also noticed the market has support for European vehicles.

drkay: Good evening Engineers. My wife went for a routine service of our 2010 Highlander with i4 engine yesterday. The mechanic assigned one of his apprentices to handle it. So, today, she wasn’t observing anything wrong in the suv until it failed accelerate well while on speed. She said it was difficult to stop along the route, for her own safety so she kept moving, until it eventually stopped. Then she noticed that there were traces oil spillage trailing along her path. When a helping hand arrived, they noticed that the oil filter was no longer in place. They put another oil and the oil filter, there was no oil remaining in the engine as at the time it stopped. It didn’t start despite replacing the oil. The mechanic that inspected it said that the engine is damaged. Please how best can I fix the vehicle? It’s in ogun state. Thank you. 1ar engine. Will send quote if you contact me.

sammily: I don't have this issue driving within town, The brake failure problem only occurred twice when i did aggressive braking, first when a danfo pull straight into the express nearly colliding with me, that was months ago, the second recently when i was in traffic trying to beat curfew. I did flush out the old fliud when it first happened to Allied Bleu brake fluid and bled out the old fliud out of all the wheels.
Also my brake fluid reservoir is not low, no sign of leaking at the wheels, so i don't think there is leakages except internal that i can't see.
I replaced the pads to the popular Ashimco, don't know if is a good brand, was my mechanic that bought it. I changed the drum lining also but the squeaky sounds in the morning is out of this world, its like alarm to wakeup my neighbors. 5k brake pad Geng. |

hardbody: The only problem I have with them is that they open to lodging by 2pm and insist that you check out by 11am next day. That falls completely below standards worldwide. It is ok to fix lodging by 2pm (to enable you clean the rooms when you have full lodging) but asking you to leave by 11am when you should at least be allowed to leave by 12noon is so not proper. Because of that nonesense I use Epe Resort which is about 10minutes drive in between. hmmmm |

sammily: Gazzuzz, Gurus in the house, I have an issue with my 2006 corolla LE, this has occurred twice now. First i was on the express doing like 100km/hr and had to hit the brakes to slow down suddenly, afterwards i notice the brake pedal went completely soft and goes all the way down. Had to park somewhere and turn off the engine, pumped the brakes and its was solid again but felt a bit soft but was working. I did a brake fluid flush afterwards and its was ok for a few weeks till it happened again. The brake is working now but I'm very concerned.
I did some research on brake pedal suddenly going soft and falling all the way down, the main culprit i got was the "Master Cylinder". Could this be the problem? Has anybody had similar problems before?
Also, there is this squeaky sound from the brake pads and drum in the morning when i brake, it normally goes off after a while but it quite embarrassing. Could this be the pads? Changed them not long ago (Ashimco) Do you have brake failure when driving in town? If answer is no, then you have a high temp issues on the brake lines causing brake oil to boil.
Popular culprits are
1. Poor quality brake fluid
2. Poor quality brake pads
3. Stiff calliper pistons/pins.
Check and confirm all these if you do not have brake failure while driving in town.

selfmadeOLX: 1. Go to a professional suspension analyst let them check if all your tyres aren’t warped, correct tyre pressure, also check all suspension components. Go for wheel balancing.
2. Lower control arm bushings may be bad. The right one (passanger side) is more damaged thus the whole weight of the car swerves to the right.
3. Go for wheel alignment
4. Low quality brake pads, entering dirty water too often. As long as it brakes/stops fine, overlook the hissing noises. Cheap fix: wind up, play music

Please see the attached image, I want to replace the 02 sensor but from my readings I heard replacing the 02 sensor might not really solve the issue, I don't have much cash to troubleshoot by buying different parts currently. will appreciate if anyone that can point me to a more specific direction.

Iykebest4u: Everyone has different tastes when it comes to interior design, but at the end of the day, most people want to live in a home that’s comfortable, stylish, and a true reflection of their personality. You don’t have to be a professional designer to put together an amazing (and functional) living space, but you might find yourself running into a few classic styling mistakes. Luckily, Iykebest interiors Nig have highlighted 10 common mistakes you should learn from while designing your home, and also how you can avoid them altogether!
Tips For Choosing Window Blinds
In many homes and most offices, blinds are commonly used to give shade and privacy to the place. Unlike curtains, the amount of light that can be let in can be controlled if you have installed blinds on your windows.
Many people feel that the problem with having blinds is the installation. It may be true. But these people neglect the fact that there are also other things that have to be considered before purchasing blinds, not only the color and the size are important when choosing blinds for one’s home or office windows.
Here are some tips:
Style- Blinds can come in different styles, the most popular now of which is the Zebra blinds. Decide on what style you wanted depending on the functionality and design of your windows.
Zebra blinds( Day and night) - are a very modern alternative to a horizontal blind. Zebra Shades are Roller shades that allow you to transition between sheer and privacy. The blinds can be adjusted so that the 3″ zebra stripes line up-offering privacy, light control, and insulation.
Roller Shades – these are made specially treated opaque or vinyl fabric that is wrapped around a dowel, which employs a spring or a beaded cord system to roll the fabric up or down. This is good if you want to have complete privacy and to protect the furniture from fading. The ends can be straight or shaped, and trimmings or contrasting braid can be added as design.
Roman Shades – these blinds have a cord woven thru the fabric that allows you to raise or lower the shade in an according pattern.
Venetian Blinds – or horizontal blinds, have horizontal panels, made of wood or aluminum, which can be adjusted to change the level of sunlight that can be allowed in the room. These are available in different widths ranging from 25mm to 50 mm.
Pleated Shades – these function similarly with Venetian blinds and have flat horizontal fabric panels. To let light enter from the top of the windows, you can have those that have “top-down” design.
Vertical Blinds – have vertical panels that can be adjusted to control the amount of light that enters. It can also be pulled to one side or both sides of the window to allow total natural illumination. Different types of fabric may be used in sizes from 89mm to 127mm.
Honeycomb Shades – are also known as cellular shades. These shades, thru layers of fabric capable of filtering light, can let light in and keep the heat or cold outside, thus giving the room insulation to save on your energy bills.
Woven Wood Shades – These are usually made of bamboo, and blocks direct sunlight from coming into the room but allow some natural light to come in.
Mini Blinds – are also known as macro, micro or aluminum blinds. These have one-inch or two-inch slats to adjust the amount of light that enters the room.
Shutters – these have parallel slats, or louvers, which can be adjusted to change the level of privacy.
Measuring and Installing the Blinds The blinds should be unobstructed that when it is fully extended, it can still hang freely. For accurate measurements, it is recommended that you use a steel ruler.
TIPS FOR CHOOSING CURTAINS The first step to figuring out how to choose curtains is to figure out what your room requires. Oftentimes, homeowners choose curtains, drapes, blinds and shades without knowing the difference. Doing so, these window treatments can actually interfere with the amount of sunlight your room should get. Curtains are fabric panels made of light materials and hang from curtain rods. They are mostly used for privacy purposes, making it perfect for living rooms. Whereas, drapes are made of thicker materials that are made to block out sunlight, making it ideal for bedrooms. |

9icetoo: Just like Gazzuzz and inception here has said, do this. Stay away from 20w50 after this. My 1.6l cerrato engine has 170k kms. Use the recommended oil going forward. unless he changes piston rings . Currently might have protective sludge keeping the oil burn away. |

Baba40: Because he is a "modern mechanic" means he should cut off his head completely and at the end it is deciet that will end it.
Some people will tell you the truth to eventually sell lies Not every foreign used car was used well.
This vehicle I sold early this year, just got due for oil change (the engine oil that came with it.)
https://www.nairaland.com/5896873/sold-spotless-clean-title-mercerdes
No other form of repair has been done including tyres
Also from the service records , even the transmission oil is not due for another 50k miles or more.
People should do proper research on vehicles they buy, to avoid lemons.
I hope you know Nigerians also use cars abroad? Imagine buying a used car used by a Nigerian
Finally , people who are used to buying cheap substandard parts , and postponing repair jobs you feel are not serious will fault that quote without getting a 2nd and third opinion.

breezy007: Good day Car Gurus, I have gone through so much trying to solve a particular problem on a Kia Cerato 2012. 1.6litre, I think from 09-12 use the same engines.
I noticed the oil light some months back flickering after about 4 hours journey, after which I parked the car to cool down and had it checked mechanic said top gasket was burnt Paid for a gasket replacement and that was it after, Prior to that, noticed the thermostat wasn't there, as usual the mechanic was tryung to blame it, fan still works with the sensor and comes on when I use the ac, akso I use the car with ac 90% of the time.
I have not had need to drive the car longer than 1 hour but recently I noticed the light came back, especially if I run the car with ac and drive for about 30 minutes, slow down or come to a complete stop it appears then goes off once I accelerate. I met a mechanic who cleaned the bottom plate and claimed it would stop. It didn't. I met a Kia specialist who said it would be the the oil pump. I paid for a new oil pump installation and total engine servicing. After a week I noticed it again. He said to ignore the light. As he is sure oil was pumping and there was sufficient oil. Now I felt very uneasy each time I see this light but then after ignoring the oil light for about 30minutes driving around, temperature light appeared and clearly there was overheat, met another mechanic who dropped the top although the gasket wasn't really burnt, grinded it and changed it, water pump checked infact I allowed the electrician connect the fan direct for about a week nothing changed, I've been told to buy a double cell radiator, obviously it's all guess work. U use pure coolant finally the mechanic dropped to engine to check the bearings only to discover some bearings had haves off or worn out, replaced the bearings coupled the engine and with joy feeling our Kong term struggle was gone after running the engine for 2 hours. Oil light is back on. So clearly something is making the engine lose compression. Thus particular mechanic is really good and detailed, he is equally frustrated as he is sure my engine block, piston, top, fan gearbox, oils are all in order. breezy007: The engine has had 90,000km on the car odometer. Car was bought brand new, other than kick starter, battery, normal maintenance, this has been a problem, I have seen beat up knocked engines rebuilt and works fine for years but this is just unbearable... Also it's an aluminum block Cerato 1.6 litre engine, it's very expensive and buying a new one isn't possible soon and I believe this engine can still work, please Gazzuzz,. Ikenna and other experts in this car talk section help me out, I see people come here and get solutions... You are loosing oil pressure.
Most likely place is from the bearings.
Measure the crankshaft again, cut to next size and replace all bearings if not within spec.
