First of all, driving in Lagos traffic can be a b*tch! I can't imagine driving a manual car... with the clutching, and braking, and shifting of gear. Life's too short for dislocated shoulders and muscle pulls.
Secondly, I don't know when to shift. Gear one, after 5 seconds, I move to two, and I stay there till the car starts making weird noises, then I shift to three... in that manner.
After driving a car with Automatic transmission, nothing would make me drive manual.
Which would you rather drive, and why? A car with a manual transmission, or one with automatic transmission?
academicjosh: Hello everyone. While work was going on in the headlights of my Honda Civic LX 2002, it rolled back slightly and shortly afterwards refused to get out of Park(P) and also refused to start even though all the lights on the instrument cluster came on. Don't know if it's as a result of rolling back. I used the shift lock button beside the gear shift to get it out of P and into N before I could start the car. But as soon as I put it back in P, it got stuck again and has acted that way since. The P indicator light doesn't come on when I put it in Park. I also noticed that the D light blinks while I'm driving. The transmission seems to shift smoothly though I can't be too sure because I'm used to manual transmission and only just started driving an automatic transmission. I'm in Abuja and would like to be directed to a Honda/automatic transmission specialist. Your advice and contributions are pleased expected and will be appreciated. Thanks
there's nothing wrong with your transmission, you have a poorly aligned park neutral switch. Call mike in abuja for a quick fix. Do not forget to appreciate him. 08111433883

I also notice I hear a guzzzz sound when I hit it gas of my car when it is not too warmed up..the sound is like the sound of fuel pumping.. I don't know what could be the cause.. For the sound.. Am thinking fuel pump maybe?. Then for the vibration after start.. Maybe.. Engine seating..??. Not sure cos the vibration dosent stay long and not all the time... Help..... HumphreyBold: I just bought a tokumbo camry 07 xle v6 and one of the back shock absorber is bad . Am going to get a new one but am confused which to buy , because I know shock absorber is very important to car expecially v6 ,

dukeo: I don't think I can argue with an expert but i forgot to mention in my description that the compressor spins faster before even without turning on the A/C system
Make a short video, upload to my whatsapp 08033910382
pragmatistm: I once came across the soap somewhere inside long buses at Ojota Lagos. I doubted that it could work. But believe me I tried it and it cured my malaria after using it to bath morning and night for three days.
I now wonder if that soaps still available and where to get it. Anybody know if it here?
You did not have malaria, just the symptoms (fever, headache...) just a glass of water and good sleep would have cured you.
dukeo: Greetings sir ! I have not been able to check the pressure yet been a little busy. But I noticed something two days ago just before going out. Early that morning, when i started the engine, I noticed the compressor was barely spinning although the alternator, water pump and everything else was doing great so I went into the car and turned the A/C on and the compressor started actually spinning. Put of the A/C and it stopped again . Assuming the compressor was going 20rpm, the compressor was going 5rpm. I guess the compressor is actually seeing her last days.
what you just described is how a compressor with a clutch should operate. But it should not spin at all when turned off.
Elizadath: gud evening sirs, pls am having a big issues with ma ac. 08 corolla. each time I turn on the ac, it keeps jerking and vibrating. pls what could be the cause?
does not sound like an a.c related issue.
Take a pic of your compressor and upload here. I guess you have the wrong tyeo of compressor installed.
ifycool: The maintenance required light (oil life) needs to be reset back to 100%.
Thanks for your swift response bro, but how do I proceed with the reset. Thanks.
google "how to reset maintenance light on camry 2007", click any of the youtube videos, watch it, go back to you car, do exactly what you saw, smile and feel like a badoo after that.
Modified: let me risk it, hope I do not get banned.
connkg: Thank you so much, Gazzuzz. I showed my electrician (a.k.a. Kazeem) the pic Gazzuzz took, but he couldn't identify it at first. When he did, he "explained" to me that he modified/ shorted the circuit because I refused to run the fans directly by relay. This is why people kill other people. Modifications that will cost him money, he won't do. Gazzuzz, do you train? I almost took a picture of him, but he's middle-aged.
have you tested the system without the shorted wiring? Hope the fans run at the right temperature? If your answers are yes then congratulations.
nija80: Oga gazzuzz sorry to derail your post.i serviced my acura mdx 2010 with Honda synthetic oil bought at 3500 per litre.but I sometimes hear this rattling noise when the car is hot.caa I change mobil 1.and which of these do you recommend. It's 5w to 20 that Honda recommend Will like to hear from you soon Thanks
problem might not be engine oil related.
Do you have the check engine light up?
If you do, look out for knock sensor codes.
It is also possible your catalyst is partially blocked.
mayoralex: Thanks be to God, the fault has been fixed by an experienced peugeot mechanic here. It was just a round component in the drive shaft that was supposed to have teeth but the teeth became smooth so it was changed to another used one and I was charged MYR200 equivalent to 15k++ naira and I'm so happy because I got reasonable advise here from Gazzuzz and Co that saved me my earlier unplanned budget of 2500MYR equivalent to 200k naira for getting a used gearbox with 7 days warrant. . Thanks KS naira land. I'm typing this inside my lion
So it was the CV joint? At 60k miles? that's interesting.
Which is preferable in nigeria
i assume you are to lazy if you google you will find the difference dont wait for nairaland to spoon feed you something you google
?
he wants direct answers from users based on their experience on "nigerian" roads with nigerian market prices for parts, availability of parts and technical know how to fix vehicle when faulty.
Lacomus: It seems, regular street light is still better considering the rate at which new solar street light gets bad.
I guess it boils down to the quality of materials used. Iv seen solar lights installed at the specialist hospital bauchi by julius berger, they outlived the tenure of the then governor muazu and are still in service today.
Delafruita: i followed the advice on this thread and ordered for engine and transmission oil from you. Prior to this point, i have used oil npt recommended by manufacturer but i never had any problems with my cars. Then sometime ago my ford escape transmission packed which made me decide to start to stick with recommended oils.which is why i ordered the atf and engine oil from you for my usual routone maintenance. Unfortunately, my gear has started erratic shifting. The first gear change doesnt occur till rpm gets to 7000. You said i should have the solenoid switch checked which i did and nothong was wrong with them. I had it scanned as you said but there was no error code.
My engine also started emitting blue smoke after the engone oil chnage which had never happened before. Right now i dont even know what to do and honestly, i believe if i had stuck with what i was using, this might not have happened. Please if you have a solution, or if anyone else has a solution, i really need help. Thanks
before switching to "factory recommendations" I always ask clients What have you been using? And for how long have you used it? switching from 20w50 to 5 or 0w20 over night after using 20w50 for several years might render a functional (I said functional not good) engine useless.
Your issues with the white or blue smoke have nothing to do with the grade or quality of engine oil you bought, but the condition of your engine before the switch. There was a buildup of sludge in your engine which was protecting the piston oil rings from leaking oil into the combustion chamber, now you have use thin full synthetic engine oil, that has additives that will remove sludge from your engine if any. The result is what you currently have.
Solution: rebuild engine and continue to use good engine oils or replace engine, or pour 20w50 along with oil treatment and hopefully you will get some protective sludge to buy you some time.
Meanwhile on the gear issue what vehicle are we talking about?
Modified: look up this thread, it will give you greater insight into what happened to your engine.
