Car Talk › Re: Why Does "Slip" Flash Randomly On My Dash Board When Accelerating On The Highway by GAZZUZZ(m): 9:51pm On Sep 17, 2016 |
jodeci: This started since yesterday on my 2007 Nissan Pathy.
The "Slip" light flashes randomly and each time it does i loose acceleration and no matter how hard i step on the pedal, the car does not accelerate.
As soon as the slip light goes off it picks up acceleration again. It doesnt last for more than a minute before it goes off on its own.
If i switch off the VDC the issue stops. But I can't drive for long with VDC off.
No check engine light is ON.
Pls any idea on what to check? There are codes, but you searching in the wrong places. Now the present issue you having is, 1 or more wheels is/are not turning in sync with the rest, so the cars computer feels car is loosing control and decides to cut power so you can gain a little traction. The issues are centered around failing wheel speed sensors. With the rains every where it is not uncommon.
If you in lagos bring it for a free scan.
I no longer fix nissan from the usa so I cannot help you with a fix. |

nurey: This thread Is funny. Go to Lagos island and see police wearing Ankara carrying AK 47, or dirty shirt and jeans carrying gun. If you are unlucky they just come down from their rickety bus and without doing anything or giving reason they tell you enter inside. When they also go to bus stop to collect their share of cursed money from the agbero and you look them too much, you will get arrested for poke nosing.

nurey: I recently changed that thing in my sienna though I bought a new one instead of the tokunbo. The tokunbo done for me didn't last a year before it started leaking. Though I didn't notice increase in fuel usage when it was bad but there was decreased engine performance especially when climbing slopes.
What gazzuzz says is to use a welder that uses electric engine to weld instead of the gas cylinder welder type when you eventually get a replacement GAZZUZZ: there is a reason the "net" is placed there, it is designed to take car of engine movement, and reduce vibrations. The problem your bro has been having is he has been welding exhaust with oxyaceytelen instead of ark welding which would have lasted longer. Best practice it to replace the section of the exhaust from base of catalyst to closest joint. |

Car Talk › Re: Urgent Advice Needed Please Am About To Raise My Car . by GAZZUZZ(m): 4:20pm On Sep 15, 2016 |
ironheart: Listen to the boss above me. Do not raise your car, you will compromise your safety beside there are tolerance level for the bearings and drive shafts. Because a lot of nigerians do it doesn't make it safe. Beside in the event of a tire blowout, you are more at risk compared to an OEM spec car.
Drive slower and caredul while on rough roads. Learn to always drive on rough roads with one tire on the high point, always place the holes in the middle of the car. If its wider than your car, drive with one side in and one side out. That way you use the road contour to raise your car and save yourself a lot of damages |

He has changed d tokunbo of that stuff like 5 times last month. So i made a suggestion for him to remove that rubbish net and replace it wit iron pipe. Guys is dat a gud idea? Pls no insults, matured responses pls. there is a reason the "net" is placed there, it is designed to take car of engine movement, and reduce vibrations. ironheart: i just got the avensis. I tried using something to pry the low side Schroeder valve n a 30 second or so all the gas was gone. I did that as a way to confirm existence of gas in it. I have not tried doing that when the engine is running, i want to have a general idea first on a car ac wiring system. Though my next port of call is to do a vacuum and regas it. Before i try what you just asked. When re charging, use gauges on the high and low side so I don't have to ask for the values. |

ironheart: Good morning GAZZUZZ, and all the car talk gurus here, i got a 2000 toyota avensis/corona and i want to connect the AC. I have been studying the Electrical wiring ever since. I have tried to troubleshoot it. I notice the magnetic clutch does not engage when the ac is put on. Though there is no gas in it.
I connect the clutch to the positive terminal of my battery and i could hear the click click sound of the magnet engaging (disconnect battery from the car before doing this so as to avoid stories that touch)
My question
is the compressor not meant to engage as soon as its ac is put on?
Does the pressure switch sense that there is no gas in the system and then go ahead to tell the AC amplifier to signal the compressor circuit not to engage the clutch?
I am trying to be logical about they system before i go do some more checks
My boss GAZZUZZ(respect) you ask for pressure checks reading to be done, my clutch does not engage in the first place so whats your suggestions? Should i go ahead to refill it first? when you manually provide power to the clutch with the engine running, does it cool?
If it does, start by checking clutch relay, and fuse in fuse box. |

blestman: Greets sir, I literally work on my Ac after some technician altered it. The problem now is dat d compressor (wit magnet clutch) draws it main power from d alternator directly while d 7.5A to d former clutchless compressor was used as a starter for d relay to d current magnet clutch. This arrangement causes a noticeable fluctuation in my rpm from 800 to about 550 wit d compressor engaged wit annoying vibrations. Moreso d condenser fan doesn't come on wit d compressor engaged causing poor cooling and worsening vibration wit d compressor engaging and disengaging erractically. D electrical connection to d fans r intact but d ECM doesn't ground it even wit d a/c engaged. I had to ground d condenser fan to keep it running always for better cooling and reduction in vibration. My question is can I get another source of power to d Compressor other than directly from d alternator to reduce d vibration and y doesn't d condenser fan come on wit the a/c turned on. Car is Camry 2007 se, thermostat intact no overheating and I do d electrical repairs wit d aid of its electrical manual. Thanks Conversion was poorly done.
