ironheart: The only performance that will be affected will b fuel consumption. The 1zz n 3zz will perform better than your 4zz. But not that it comes with higher fuel consumption. Make sure u buy the ECU that comes with the engine or you take yours for mapping. Our mechanics can be funny. After the engine change without the right ECU, you will encounter issues that may frustrate you to sell your car it would be cheaper if he just got the 4zz engine. It is very available. RE-mapping would be good, but it would cost him an arm and a leg in lagos. It would be cheaper to buy another engine ecu. |

treatise: Permission to address you as General Gazzuzz Sir. I have 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer; I did oil(5W30) change and the Mechanic almost emptied the entire 5 litres into the engine( 4.3 ). Now, the oil spills and the same Mechanic says it comes from the oil seal between the gear box and engine and the engine must be "dropped" . I am quite scared of the unintended consequences that usually greet "dropping" of an otherwise healthy engine. General Gazzuzz, is there any other way of solving that spill without resorting to dismantling of the engine ?
Many thanks. you might be lucky and there will be no damage to the oil seals, I have seen leaks like that lots of times due to over fill. Just observe every day. |

shinebabe: We hardly buy our fuel outside NNPC and we've not bought black market for more than a year now. The last mech that took out the pump ( even though other mechs who initially worked on it said it was the fuel pump but afterwards later found out that fuel was pumping well) didn't see any thing wrong with the fuel. So it is not the fuel at all. He only said the pump was clogged and replaced it. My husband is considering going back to him to collect his original pump since the pump refit wasn't the issue.
Another thing is that each time after jerking to a stop, the plugs are blackened and after cleaning them and allowing the car to cool for sometime , the car will start again.
We initially thought it was the plugs and changed it twice!
The mechs are tired of picking our calls now cos I guess they have also run out of options . I won't mind the gazzuzz details if he can profer a permanent solution that is not too expensive cos we've spent far too much unbudgeted funds on the car and its frustrates him everyday. Thanks please take a picture of your engine bay and post the picture here. |

lincolnola: Dear Gazzuzz,
I had a very bad hesitation and loss of power especially when the car jst covered short distance. Different shoe makers in Mechanics and rewires clothing were just fingering my highlander without solutions. They were guessing I should change plugs or coils or air flow meter.Until I met one rewire that scanned and said I should change the O2 sensor under the car.I did that,I was expecting the check engine light to go off immediately but not,I had to remove the EFI fuse and viola,it went off.
My questions are these:
1.Did I do the right thing by removing the fuse? 2.Could the removal wipe off any pulse width programme on the injectors? 3.How do I know that all is well now,as the CEL hasn't come up over a week now and the stalling and hesitation all gone too 4.Is it normal to feel a little drag when ascending a steep? THANKS 1week without cell? Your problem is solved. Removing the ecm fuse or disconnecting battery, deletes the stored errors on most vehicles. (not all) O2 sensors are very quick to throw codes and if you don't have a code after a week of driving then your problem has been solved. |

just spoke with my toyota parts dealer and he confirmed the price for the wheel bearings, the corrola 04 (japan europe/middle east) is about a 100k for the rear. The american spec is about the same price. He also said, what you will get as new most times in the market is a chinese clone and he does not sell that. He also said "the original one no de move market " in my experience, the rear wheel bearing starts making noise at about 200k miles, it's not a part you replace every day. |

BOUNTYDOG: @LonelyDora I would say you are just lucky, To be honest I find it hard to believe automedics like GAZZUZ can advice an ABS bypass.hhhhhmmmm Talking about ABS bypass it has almost made me give up on my W210 E320,the ABS was bypassed cos of a failing calliper the kazeem could not detect and made the culprit ABS module which he bypassed with those sockets as shown in ur pictures,I used the car like that as most mechs I ask to restore it saw nothing wrong in bypassing ABS module. When the wahala now started I was left OYO,it started with my tranny making a bang sound when changing gears till it would not even change aside Drive and Reverse,I was told the valvebody is gone,I bought another tranny, thisone worked for 2wks and the bang sound started again.I diagnosed again and the valve body is the culprit .hhhh I used the gear lke dat and felt I need to make some corrections on D car as I feel sometin holds it down like I press sliightly on D brakes wen I'm driving in slow pace.I changed callipers, hubs, shafts, axle and still same thing. I gave up and thought to change the 3rd tranny,I got another tranny and I notice immediately after fixing dat tranny attempt to change but other things hinder it.I know I can't buy another tranny "Not Me"so I decided to look into the ABS module bypassed.I got a good ABS module restored the pipes and alas everything plus my brakes became sharp again.with D bypass the brake was a total mess. Now see the stress and money wasted on a silly move of ABS module bypass, made me to buy 2 tranny,Hub,axle, shaft, which the culprit is just calliper.the kazeem was unable to detect and bypassed ABS. LonelyDora I said u were lucky cos if u used the car a bit longer with the bypass,it will affect ur valvebody as those cables on the module works with speed sensors which relates to the tranny. ABS bypass any Kazeem that does that is bad enough to park ur car @ his workshop till further notice, maybe to sell off or let it rott
You can only try it in older cars that are not sensitive, infact icant even try it on a W124 1988 autodrive sef your case is different. If you had asked any one who is very knowledgeable in Mercedes would have told you not to try it. The braking systems of both vehicles are not wired same way sir. |

if they are brand new parts by toyota, you are getting it really cheap. From the properly arranged bill, you did not go to a roadside mechanic, do not expect to get roadside prices for parts. A well organised workshop will give you a guarantee on parts installed, and a roadside will not. |

Car Talk › Re: Direction On Where To Get Single Cell Radiator---toyota Camry 2003 by GAZZUZZ(m): 8:54pm On Apr 12, 2016 |
Denn: There is an error I have noticed in the postulations on radiators.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a double cell radiator.
In fact, I will advise you use a double cell radiator asap.
My facts are stated below;
The operating temperature of the engine is not determined by the size of the radiator but the opening temperature of the thermostat.
In fact if your radiator is as big as a geepee tank, as long as your thermostat is Installed and it opens as when due, your engine will run at an optimal temperature.
The problem with radiator size comes into play if : *your thermostat has been deleted. *your cooling fan is not operating at default setting *there is a problem with any other component in the cooling system.
Double cell radiators enhance the speed at which the coolant gets cooled since it offers more surface area for the air to pass over.
With our high ambient temperature, we need double cell (or even triple cell) radiators as a cooling system upgrade.
Do not delete your thermostat no matter what you do. If your car cannot cool with the thermostat in place, there is a problem.
Thanks
Cc orex nice one.
Op get the double, transfer all the components from the old one to the new one(fans, thermoswitch) and you will be just fine. |
