Oga, you are the funny one if you cannot see the point being made. How is drastically cutting waste and saving massive amount of money which can be used productively to better Nigeria not an 'achievement'? You anti Buhari/APC folks just love to be negative for the sake of it. Why not give credit where due and move on? If unable to do then why not remain silent instead of saying things that make no sense. Everyone, from New York to Timbuktu, know that cutting waste and profligacy is urgently required for Nigeria so more can be available for capital spending and infrastructural development.

What ass licking? Telling you factually that the new Government is saving Nigerian massive amounts of money is ass licking? Also, do you know it is the great damage GEJ has done that is responsible for virtually 99% of the hardship Nigeria faces today? The damage is so great that Buhari must take his time finding solutions and those who will help him devise and implement those solutions. "Act in haste, repent at leisure". Buhari should take his time to find permanent and effective solutions/reforms regardless of what those who never liked or voted for him say.

True. Imagine 185 prestigious hotel rooms booked under GEJ in 2014. How much will that have cost Nigeria? We can only imagine.

In 2014, President Jonathan was forced to cut down the size of his delegation but his team was still large enough to take up 145 luxury rooms at the UN Millennium Hotel, and 40 suites at the Pierre.

Buhari Attending UN General Assembly With 22-Man Delegation, Nigeria’s Slimmest In Decades

BY SAHARA REPORTERS, NEW YORKSEP 23, 2015

President Muhammad Buhari will be attending the 70th United Nations General Assembly in New York accompanied only by 21 delegates, according to a source at the Presidency in Abuja.

The lean delegation pales in comparison with what had become the junketing tradition of Nigeria’s delegations to the annual event.

A list obtained by SaharaReporters shows that President Buhari will be accompanied by the Governors of Kaduna, Niger and Cross River states. Also on his entourage are former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Kayode Fayemi. The Senator from Katsina, Hadi Sirika and a former member of the House of Representatives, Abike Dabiri, are also in the group.

Others on the plane to New York include Major General Monguno (Rtd), the National Security Adviser; Femi Adesina, the Presidential Special Adviser on Media; Sarkin Abba Kalu, Special Adviser Household Matters; Lawal Kazuare (State Chief of Protocol), Nura Rimi, Presidential Liaison Officer; Lt. Col M. L Abubakar (Aide de Camp); Bashir Abubakar, Chief Security Officer; Sabi’u Yusuf (Personal Assistant); ACP Abdukarim Dauda, Dr. Suhayb Sanusi Rafindadi, Chief Personal Physician; and Ya’u Abdulahi, Chief Detail.

It would be recalled that in 2013, over 600 persons accompanied President Goodluck Jonathan to New York. When SaharaReporters reported on the scandalous figure, Reuben Abati, who was then the spokesperson to President Jonathan, denied our story. However, in September 2014, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bashir Wali, confirmed the story in a widely televised press conference.

So reckless and unaccountable had Nigeria’s participation become that SaharaReporters also found out in 2013 that the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, had taken luxury suites in two hotels: the Four Seasons, as well as the Pierre Hotel where President Jonathan lodged. She and her delegation also rented eight luxury limousines that were parked in front of the Four Seasons throughout her stay, but only four of them were used.

In 2014, President Jonathan was forced to cut down the size of his delegation but his team was still large enough to take up 145 luxury rooms at the UN Millennium Hotel, and 40 suites at the Pierre.

For his first visit to the General Assembly as elected leader, President Buhari reportedly received meeting requests from about 21 world leaders, but he will only be able to meet with the Presidents of Brazil, Russia and Poland; former US President Bill Clinton, Microsoft Founder Bill Gates and Poe Frances.

His aides told SaharaReporters that President Buhari will also be skipping the meeting scheduled with Nigerians in the Diaspora, all functions with non-governmental organizations, and the traditional dinner with the business community.

The president is expected to return to Nigeria on May 29 in time for Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations on October 1.

Will Saraki be facing all these charges if he hadn't gone against the party into becoming the Senate President? Be honest about your response.
Dude, we should stop taking as if politics is all about gentility. Even in the most advanced democracy there is an aspect of politics where shi*t get real and people have to be dealt with. I told you all Saraki would be dealt with and that it was only a matter of time while the OP of this thread was basking in the sycophantic glory of hearing he "got it right". You cannot embarrass Buhari and the APC like this. This is a principled man who believes adults must pay for wrongdoings. While Buhari orders APC senators to meet him, Saraki was organising a coup to become senate President and gift the undeserving PDP the very prestigious position of DSP. Sometimes you guys need to be pragmatic in outlook. Politics is not all about flowers and chocolate. If Buhari does not deal with Saraki then every punk will be encouraged to take him on. No one appreciates this more than a former army general. Dino Melaye who was making noise is now silent. Buhari and the APC are doing the right thing.

If Buhari is to succeed and order is to return to Nigeria everywhere then those who wish to operate with impunity, after Buhari warned them to reform and behave, must be dealt with. As simple as that. If you want to call it abuse of power or whatever then you are one of those who does not realise that Nigeria needs a Jerry Rawlings who does not spill blood.
PoliticsRe: How Bukola Saraki's Trial Confirms/Expose The Insincerity Of Buhari And APC by Gbawe: 8:52am On Sep 22, 2015
@op.

Have you heard the saying "all is fair in love and war"? Saraki effectively declared war on the APC and it's leader who also happens to be our President. You want the APC and Buhari to take it lying down when Buhari has said that no individual, including himself, must be allowed to disrespect Party. "No individual is bigger than the party" Buhari warned. Apparently Saraki and his gang of indsciplined fools, used to getting away with impunity, thought Mr.President was joking GEJ - style.

Stop the naivete and admit that there is an aspect of politics where you must deal with your opponent with any legitimate means. No one cares if the case against Sarah is from 1934. The point is that the decision has been made to deal with Saraki for his unacceptable treachery which embarrassed the APC and the President before the entire world.

Any wrongdoing of Saraki can and should be used to deal with such an unprincipled cad who totally embarrassed the leader of the biggest black nation on earth. The day I knew Saraki was gone was when he disrespected Buhari and organised a NASS coup to become senate president while Mr.President had ordered APC senators to meet with him. Saraki did not stop there. He also helped the PDP to gain the DSP position they had no right to sniff. !!!!

Also, mentioning others make no sense because Buhari had already stated that all wrongdoers who reform and toe the path of goodness will have no issues with him. Yet anyone who effs up after Buhari is sworn in will be dealt with. That is what is going on here and spare us your sanctimonious wailing. Buhari should Mumu for Saraki abi? Nonsense.

After reading Joe Igbokwe's article here on NL last night, it dawned on me that Saraki is/was all out not only to ridicule his party but to completely decimate the party in cohort with his friends in PDP. No sane and serious party will allow an individual to do that and get away with it.
That is what I have repeated here non-stop. The APC will quickly become like the PDP if the Party allows a culture of impunity. In Buhari, the APC has a strong Party leader who believes and has stated that nobody must be allowed to behave as if they are greater than the Party. Saraki effed-up big time and against the wrong President. His biggest mistake was to assume we are still under the PDP-style reign of impunity.

Stop your sanctimonious rubbish cos you are the one that is not for real. I asked you again did Saraki and Ekweremadu broke any law in their bid for NASS leadership huh

Should the NASS for the sake of loyalty become rubber-stamp of the APC/Presidency huh

Since you seems to have access to some APC governors/senators e..t.c it will be ideal you advise them to stop their fixation on the NASS leadership elections and move the country forward.

Buhari/APC should stop trying be "too smart by half" in their bid to stylishly under the guise of fighting corruption eliminate "competition/opposition".
Who told you they are not trying to do this? In fact this is about good governance because Saraki has shown he is a treacherous snake who will not assist Buhari to initiate the broad reform that will transform Nigeria. Saraki has shown he is about private and vested interest and Buhari will not spare him after it has now become obvious the Senate President is a disruptive force that must be taken out sooner than later.

Also, Buhari has warned about this stage of things. Buhari said all sinners are forgiven and he will only look at the immediate past government. He stated that he will not witch hunt anyone but will rather draw a line in the sand once in power. "whatever you have done, reform and behave from the day I am sworn in and I will have no issues with you" was the loud and clear instruction. After this stage do not misbehave as there will be consequences if you do. Buhari also said no person is bigger than the Party. Saraki (1) thought he is bigger than the APC and (2) misbehaved after Buhari warned that impunity will not be tolerated under his Presidency. I don't know what you are ranting about. The man has warned all Nigerians about what we are seeing now. Many were just not listening.

I think Nigerians are forgetting one important statement Buhari made. I.e everyone must respect and obey the Party. Nobody is bigger than the political Party and platform that gave them their prestigious public office. Saraki from the lawless PDP thought Buhari was just talking for the fun of it as his PDP compatriots like GEJ used to do.

Now it will be clear to all that disorderly conduct and treachery against Party/nation/Nigerians will not be tolerated. That idiot Abba Moro who organised that scam employment fiasco under GEJ, where Nigerian youths died chasing non-existent jobs, would be in jail if that happened today.

If the senators decamp before Saraki is impeached. PDP will become majority in the senate. This means, PDP will have to decide who becomes senate president after Saraki's removal. In that case, sledge hammer will be used on Saraki instead of ordinary hammer in the court.

The unfolding will make for a good movie.
Okay let us see how this will play out. This decamping tale makes no logical sense. Doing it amounts to doing what Saraki did which is to undermine and embarrass the President. It is now crystal clear Buhari is not GEJ and will not tolerate such. How many will now be willing to take Buhari on and risk their position after what Saraki is going through?
PoliticsRe: Politics: Bukola Saraki, 15 Apc Senators To Defect To Pdp – Spy Nigeria by Gbawe: 9:15pm On Sep 21, 2015
I would take this with a pinch of salt. Senators have no immunity and Nigerian politician are not especially loyal or principled so they will realise the consequence of disruptive behaviour under Buhari. Anyone openly siding with Saraki is indirectly taking on the President and must bear the consequence of such actions. I think Buhari has struck the fear of God into all who thought he has weakened and softened with age. Saraki is on his own in my opinion. Others have a four years mandate to protect. No one will sacrifice that fighting for Saraki.

This is what Nigeria needs. A President who will instil order everywhere and make our leaders act in a disciplined manner because of the notion that there will be certain and swift consequence for misbehaving as Saraki did. It is Ekweremadu I pity because he accepted a poisoned chalice and will have to live with his choice and over-ambitious bad timing. They organised a political coup against the leader of the APC, i.e Buhari, and thought they got away with it without understanding that Buhari pathologically hates coups against his leadership. The mistake Saraki and others made is to assume we are still in the GEJ/PDP days.

Indeed. You put it very intelligently. What I know is that we will get it right in the end if our Presidents are "prepared", as you put it, rather than incompetent and thieving buffoons placed far above their station by selfish interest groups. Jonathan for example should be a Village commissioner at best.

GEJ should never have gotten to the Presidency where he would have to lead a very complex and highly indsciplined people who can only be whipped into behaving by an uncompromising hardliner. This is why GEJ destroyed Nigeria horribly. He was placed too fat above his station by vested interests. This must never happen again. In future it is only gladiators who want to lead who should lead.

Yet the likes of Chukwudi never do reality. I would like to see Saraki survive this against a hardliner and former military General i.e Buhari. I know you are a GEJ fan but the fact is that Buhari is very different to Jonathan in approach and mentality. You are taught not to compromise with the enemy in the army. Are you for real? So you think it is okay for Saraki, because he felt he was not the choice of the APC, to help the PDP, who deserved nothing at all, to gain the position of deputy senate President? If the APC does not deal with Saraki for this fundamentally unforgivable treachery that embarrassed the Party then they will end up like the PDP where strong yet lawless individuals brought down the Party. The APC has many PDP defectors but they must learn to conduct themselves the APC way and not try to bring PDP style politics to the ruling Party. the fact is that insult is all you have in your armoury and this is why you cannot appreciate the crux of the matter. The Saraki situation is not the same as that of Tambuwal. Both defected from the political Party that gave them power. This happens all the time worldwide and no pragmatically sensible person would lose sleep over this. Saraki, unlike Tambuwal, went beyond defection alone. He directly plotted to give the opposition Party a powerful position and platform (DSP) so he could be senate President. I think any reasonable person, even if they are big haters of the APC, will understand why the ruling Party will feel it must deal with Saraki. Impunity grows if misconduct is not punished. to be sincere with you, Nigeria's political institution is too soft and fragile. One can easily predict what will happen to this Saraki's case. But this Saraki's case is a litmus test for the Buhari led Government, both judiciary and executive arm of Government. If this Government can handle it properly with interference as Bubu has said, and defeat saraki. That means they are serious.
100% correct. This is what is on the line. Failure is not an option for Buhari , in a litmus test as you put it, because of his need to show his government will be about zero tolerance for the sort of political mischief, judicial gangsterism and corruption the PDP used to mire Nigeria in underdevelopment for the past 16 years.

The entire world, to include the USA which has condemned it openly, know that justice is for sale in Nigeria. Institutional decay is synonymous with Nigeria. Worldwide the perception is that the rich and powerful never pay for their crimes. Instead, they pay off those in charge of the justice system. We all saw Jonathan directly intervene to help Teslim Folarin beat a murder trial. That was a big low for Nigeria.

Buhari knows what is at stake if he wants the help and benevolence of the international community that has always looked at Nigeria as a nation where anything goes. Nigeria is not an Island and we will get better if the international community assist us because they feel they can trust us to do the right thing in terms of governance. There has to be a clear signal that things are different now. The USA, UK, France et al were lukewarm towards Jonathan because they realised he is a con artist who stood for nothing. Buhari will be aware he can only get the broad assistance which will help him succeed if he shows that things are no longer business as usual. I would like to see how the judiciary would frustrate a determined President who feel he has a point to prove with this Saraki saga. I repeat that Buhari is not GEJ.

The worst Tambuwal did is defect to another political party. This is something that is common in politics and done worldwide. What is not common and never done worldwide is to make your own Party lose a position they do not have to because you are thinking of yourself alone. It is called politics and not "dictatorial witch hunting" . Saraki , because of unbridled personal ambition, made himself someone the APC and Buhari cannot trust. Allow Saraki, in a very important position, to be a cog in the wheel of progress and development or remove him so that the APC is in full control of how it wants to do things?

Remove sentiments from your outlook and you will see that Saraki's position is not tenable. I was talking to a Nigerian Senator last night and he told me "Saraki is gone" disdainfully. No one likes the guy and there is deep bitterness over what he did . The effort to remove him and cut him down to size has broad backing.
