MizMyColi:Ignore all you want yet the forum can see you "ignored" the topic also to rant pettily, irrelevantly and off-topic. Elections are over. Before the election many of us were 'wound up' but it is time for Nairaland politics section to return to the 'Mecca' of intelligent, educational and productive discussion it used to be. Your petty and totally off-topic rants never help. I am sure posters would have preferred to read about who impressed you at the screening and not your diattribe against Lai. |
IVORY2009:Thank you. What Mizcoli does with every single post, and on every thread, is to be called out because such usage of the forum destroys constructive discussion. We can all 'stray' and go personal sometimes but she does it always even when everyone can see she is off-topic and trying to derail the thread. As I stated earlier, even hardcore PDP fan contributed positively and relevantly on this thread. |
SeverusSnape:look dude, forget the past and stop this behaviour of thinking you must always fight and argue with others because of historical beef. What I told her is in order and everyone knows it. She should stick to the topic. She completely ignored the topic and her only contribution is to attack the choice of others and be ranting against Lai Mohammed. If we all did that then productive and informative discussion will never be seen here. i have thoroughly enjoyed the contribution of others because I did not see the screening and their productive input 'educated' me. Even the PDP guys knew instinctively that this is a thread to inspect the screening and what happened there and not a thread to be ranting pettily against the past conduct, real and imagined, of Lai Mohammed. |
SeverusSnape:What nice reply? She has been shown up as someone who is unable to stick to the topic, is extremely petty and can never contribute positively to discussion. Like I said, all posters 'stray' sometimes including me yet I manage to contribute positively to the topic. That is what I am known for here so she has no point. My conduct, even at my most rude previously, is not remotely similar to hers where she never discusses anything political or pertaining to the topic and will always rant off-focus against others. It is very irritating for anyone to do this with every post they contribute here. She is asked to name the ministerial nominees who impressed her. Seeing the name of Lai Mohammed many times simply enraged this petty individual who can never set her personal dislike of others to give credit where due. She then proceeded to rant against Lai Mohammed, in a petty and off-topic manner, while ignoring the topic. Someone needs to tell her to know how to contribute to post positively, educationally and stick to the topic. Yoiu are doing the same thing she is doing and such conduct ruin the politics section. There are many staunch PDP supporters here who detest the APC yet they put pettiness aside, respected the topic and gave us their own name/s. Why can you and that petty lady not do same? Why the need to always quarrel with everything and everyone? You should be telling her to address the topic or stay off the thread. it is clear what OP asked for and I don't see how this is a thread to attack the choice of other posters to then be talking exclusively of Lai Mohammed's "propaganda". |
MizMyColi:Another nonsense post and more gibberish focused on other posters. When will you learn to stick to the topic and stop your petty desire to personalise every topic against others? Can you tell us who impressed you the most out if the Ministerial nominee or something related to that? No one is interested, at least not on this thread, about the so-called propaganda of Lai Mohammed. Focus should be on how the nominees performed before the screening committee. Every poster can 'stray' now and then yet I have never seen a post from you where you focus exclusively on politics or on the topic under discussion. In other words you don't contribute anything useful, informative or interesting. All you do is use every post to deliver personalised rants against others. I challenge you to talk about the performance of the ministerial nominees. Nothing more. It is clear enough what the topic is asking. I.e tell us your choice/s of Ministerial nominees who you think shone before the Senate committee. You were not asked to pettily attack the choice of others because of personalised hatred of Lai Mohammed, who acquitted himself well according to many, or because you are incapable of giving credit where due. |
MizMyColi:See this bitter lady. Every time you write I visualize a perpetually frustrated and angry lady who is only here to bicker with others. They ask who impressed you the most and you are busy pettily attacking the choice of others and attempting to derail the thread with your irrelevant and off-topic antics. Is the topic about Lai's propaganda or how he performed at the senatorial screening? Na wa for you sha. @Topic I did not watch the screening but I am not surprised by the choice of Fayemi, Ogbeh, Dambazau and Lai Mohammed as nominees who impressed. They are all highly intelligent individuals. Don't know Aminat Mohammed or her history but I will look into her background as it seems she impressed immensely also. It is encouraging for Nigeria to hear that most nominees gave a good account of themselves and appear prepared. |
Oooops:A woman is injured seriously and may even die and you are telling Nairalanders to "enjoy"? We should "enjoy" and be amused by the suffering and misfortune of others? This whole social networking voyeurism has made many so insensitive and warped. And what do you mean "pics after the cut"? Do you think you are a movie direct and the scene in front of you is an action film rather than a tragedy where someone got hurt and may even be fatally wounded? |
sTrOnGnAtIoN:Stop deceiving yourself merely because tribalism and sectional prejudice has damaged your ability to reason objectively. If a Nigerian politician from the North commits a criminal offence in the UK then they will be "hounded" by UK Police also. It is ridiculous to insinuate the UK is in on the 'plot' of the North to undermine the South. You simply sound unreasonably Paranoid. |
MrMbaM:I really don't know why she had to expose her unhealthy and nauseating prejudice to insinuate the Yorubas are "treacherous and deceitful". Worse still, she claims that Fayose, a reprobate 'omo ale' Yoruba only loved in Ekiti, is the individual that "keeps correcting the notion that the Yorubas are treacherous and deceitful". What a lowlife Nairalander. A woman for that matter. What have the Yorubas done to be deemed "treacherous and deceitful"? If you don't automatically side with some people's hypocritical obsession with secession, merely because you live in the same southern hemisphere as them, then that is "treacherous and deceitful"? If you are moderate and unwilling to back others automatically for their prejudice and radical ethnocentric dislike of their fellow Nigerians, even when they profit immensely from them, then that is "treachery" to some warped folks. "Treacherous and deceitful" is the SW backing GEJ overwhelmingly, at the polls, in 2011 and then responsibly and patriotically rejecting him in 2015 when it was crystal clear the incompetent and corrupt accidental president was on course to destroy Nigeria? It is clear some posters are very irresponsible and what makes it worse is that they are perverse to the extent they think others, far more responsible and level-headed than they are, are the ones in the wrong. I think others need to look at themselves and note the appalling prejudice and hypocrisy that is making them unable to see they are the ones with the problem. Why, for example, migrate to the region of those you claim are "treacherous and deceitful"? If I hold such a view abut a neigbhour then I will never enter his house. That is Yoruba uprightness for you as opposed to the lunacy some show where they claim they want their own Country and that others mean them harm yet they don't see the hypocrisy of going to live with and profit from those who "hate" them. |
tomakint:Bruv, Fayose said no truth. They all knew Alams had been in a coma and unlikely to recover for days before his 'sudden death' was announced. Believe me, that is the truth. Fayose was exploiting the situation for political 'mileage'. Has anyone else spoken up to say similar? It is only Fayose, as we have all come to realise, who has no limit and no respect for decency. At the very least, and if a good person, he should respect the family of Alams who know and have to deal with the truth. Alams was just another unhealthy politician as many of our politicians are because they are people who deal in excesses - whether physical, mental or financial. |
Fayose truly has no shame. Death comes to us all. Without even an autopsy report released to confirm what killed Alamco, how can Fayose link this to partisan politics and claim the APC killed him? I really feel sad for those backing Fayose on this thread. He is a horrid and shameless man any society that desires progress must reject and perhaps even banish. Alamco likely had a stroke or a heart attack because well-informed Nigerians know he went into an immediate and vegetative coma a while ago. It is mainly a stroke or myocardial infarction (heart attack) that induces such. They kept it hush-hush but he had been in a coma for days. Fayose knows this as all insiders do. Yet he chose to exploit this for political gains because he is a tout. I just pity gullible Nigerians. The way these overlords take you for a ride is not funny. They make you the 'cheerleaders' for their fight against each other in the morning while they meet up to share money and drinks in the evening. Any time they announce an event then APC and PDP supporters will rise against each other whereas the real deal is that the politicians are playing you. Alams death had nothing to do with the APC or even politics. He was just unhealthy, as many Nigerian politicians are, and in the category highly susceptible to having a stroke or a heart attack. |
ziddy:How about the many thousands of Nigerian youths who are very well-educated even up to Masters level? What are they doing for Nigeria? Are they not the same individuals who foolishly come to Nairaland to agitate for the ultra-misruling GEJ to continue in power simply because they don't wan't "aboki", even when he is far more competent than GEJ, to become President? Would you appoint youths with such fundamentally flawed mentality to run your company you have invested a lot of money in? Man mi, I am not singling out Nigerian youths. It is the same throughout Africa. Young people in Africa do not focus on what matter. This is why they have no idea regarding how to hold leaders accountable or on how to get involved in the leadership process that will improve their own future and that of those behind them. |
intrepid:They are always going to do this. That is the way competition ,and the need to thrive at the expense of others in underdeveloped nations, has shaped society. even diasporan Nigerians in developed nations face similar. Yet the central point remains that Nigerian youths should face what matter and they must fight for their own liberation. Youths worldwide do same but not Nigerian youths who remain childish childish, disunited and preoccupied with petty things and shallow interests. Next minute they will lazily ask to be made ministers and public servants. It was a young man, aged 26, who started the Arab spring. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohamed_Bouazizi All Nigerian youths do is complain without understand that Africa is a continent without deterrent for wrongdoing meaning that the people, especially youths, must use social powers available to them to agitate for justice and equity. If those in power do wrong and you don't make them accountable, any way you can, then don't complain if they disregard you. A good example is Abba Moro who led several Nigerian youths to their death with scam promises of jobs while he and others collected a healthy booty for their deception. What did Nigerian youths do about such an awful and terrible development that took the lives of several of their peers? Abba Moro did not even lose his job and the callous President who backed him blindly was still supported to continue in office by youths unable to see beyond ethnocentric, religious and sectional bias. Tha fact is that Nigerian youths are terrible. Many are worthless and lag far behind their compatriots worldwide. We need to say the truth, even as I know many are not ready to hear it, so that mindset and orientation can change . |
chucky234:bruv, I dey kampe. How are you? Took some time time off Nairaland but I am back now because I think it is time Buhari gets to work. Everything is about the man in power doing the right things to move Nigeria forward. For example, i am not happy about Boko Haram at all. Things must improve soon in this regard or Buhari will start feeling the heat. |
hinwazaka:Yes. APC is my platform but that is because I believe it to be a Party that can deliver for Nigeria and not because I am a die-hard APC devotee. I could easily join KOWA if that gives me a chance to serve my constituency and I am comfortable with their political ideology. Also, I did not say all Nigerian youths are useless and misguided. My opinion is that most of them are. The few who are mature, serious and responsible will always be empowered by society. I have friends, business partners and associates who are in their sixties. Despite being over 20 years older than me, they relate to me as if we are the same age. Nigerian elders do not discriminate against young people in my opinion. It is Nigerian young people who fail to grow up, fail to see and chase what matters and fail to make themselves a force to be reckoned with. |
jibs4lv:you see, this is what I am talking about. You cannot even be bothered to write proper English because of how youths today are lazy, highly materialistic and always looking to cut corners. Why can you not take time to write properly for god sake? Who do you think, in the serious world of business and politics will take you seriously when you write as you do? I don't even get what you are saying because I don't do that dumbed-down illiteracy lingo and have no interest indulging those who do. How do you then expect someone from an era of discipline and formal uprightness, like Buhari, to take you seriously? You Nigerian youths are your own biggest enemies. Yes we are in the social networking age. That does not mean you cannot make an effort to write properly instead of spelling because as 'cuz' or you as 'u'. You guys have no mouth to talk. Look at yourselves, your laziness and skill-set deficiencies that mean you are inferior to those before you and are unlikely to replace them anytime soon. Youths who are ready will lead. Unfortunately, most Nigerian youths are not ready. This is why you are not leading. |
asuustrike2009:If the Nigerian youths choose not to vote then a demographic group , perhaps those aged 50-100, will still produce our elected leaders. The point remains that Nigerian youths must want to lead, believe in their own ability to lead and, most importantly, position themselves to lead. |
hinwazaka:Why do you assume I am not aware of this? My main point is that Nigerian youths are not socially responsible or patriotically focused on the input they must contribute toward the realisation of a great society that works for everyone. Most young people have a capitalist "me, myself and I" ethos and this guides their individual and selfish desire to be financially successful without feeling they owe their nation or society anything. So what if some Nigerians between the age of 30-40 are doing amazing things? They are doing it for themselves !!! I am in that age bracket and only come to nairaland because I want my nation to be better. I will formally get involved in politics shortly, and with dedication to a better Nigeria, I have no doubt I can make a difference. The point is that Nigeria youths must get involved and stake their claim. They cannot remain on the sideline complaining when they have not shown they are leadership material. Nothing is free in life. You work for it. We have to give the elders and Nigerians a reason to believe we are ready. Bankole was a very young speaker yet he rubbished the notion that Nigerian youths are competent and responsible. Nigerian youths should look at themselves first instead of thinking anyone owes them anything. |
warrior01:What deceptive aim? When the likes of Buhari became leaders as youths things were very different. You can never ever cheat nature or prevent what will be from happening. If the Nigerian youths are ready and equipped to lead then they will. The problem is that folks like you prefer to believe the old boys are depriving them of power rather than accept that our youths are not ready to stake their claim and brush the old boys aside. In countries where young people are uncompromisingly ready for leadership they become leaders. In the last UK elections, a 20 year old woman became the youngest MP (member of parliament) for a long time. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/32642208/meet-the-snps-mhairi-black-the-youngest-mp-elected-since-1667 If Nigerian youths are not serious, lacking focus and unwilling to take responsibility for their own future then what are you talking about? It was a young man who began the process that toppled Mubarak and contributed to the Arab spring. Instead all Nigerian youths do is complain and insinuate that they must be included automatically in political leadership. It does not work like that. Line up 100 young Nigerians today and you will see they want to be the next Phyno , Olamide or Davido rather than the next Fashola, El rufai or Okorocha. Face fact dude. Most Nigerian youths are not ready to lead. Those who are, like Dimeji Bankole, even if he did not lead well, get the chance to lead. |
WhoBeThisMan:Then contact you LG chairman, Senator or Rep. You cannot just demand direct contact with the President when there are many below him who can handle your situation and pass on your message to him if necessary. The best place to start is to contact the State legislative Rep member for your ward. These guys are paid to agitate for the interest of the members of their constituency. |
warrior01:Bruv, look around you. Do you seriously think Nigerian youths are ready for leadership? Only very few are in an age when the majority are obsessed with bling, social networking, party lifestyle and 'big man thinz'. I interact with a lot of young Nigerians (18-35) and I can say most (90%) are not serious or conscious of what matters in life and how they can contribute towards making their society better. Young people do not automatically deserve anything. They must earn whatever they want in life. If I were Buhari I would ignore Nigerian youths because of what they are. Better to recruit from an era where people were patriotic and were dedicated to serving their nation than enlist irresponsible young people from an era of narcissism and shallowness. |
The President and VP are very busy and important people. Literally millions would like to speak to them daily. They are the leaders of the biggest black nation on earth. You cannot cut corners with this government and Buhari will not see you unless it is an emergency situation involving a highly distressed citizen. Contact the Senator responsible for where you live if you have an important issue you wish to discuss. Start from there. |
GOATandYAMtheory:What valid points? The first thing Yar Adua did, within months in power, was to revoke OBJ's sale of Nigerian refinery assets to Otedola, Dangote et al. How can Shekarau then be correct alluding that OBJ controlled the Yar Adua Presidency for 2 years when Yar Adua fell out with OBJ literally at the start of his presidency? This is recent history we are talking about meaning we all lived through it and that it is therefore not open to revisionism. Nigerian politicians appreciate that Nigerians are sentimental and biased. They therefore package their sh1t in ways that will appeal to the nature of their people. This is what Shekarau is doing because Buhari made it clear everyone who is interested in moving Nigeria forward is free to approach and work with him. The fact is that Shekarau will know that Buhari has pledged that anyone from any Party or background, whatever their past misconducts, can join him to reform Nigeria as long as they are ready to do things in a new way where the interest of Nigerians is put above everything else. How does OBJ not fall into this category even if he made mistakes? Buhari has been consistent in speech and behaviour because he is honourable. His opinion has always been that he is approachable but all who come to him must work to his terms and condition. If OBJ is doing this then I don't see the issue Shekarau is raising. Buhari made it clear he has no time for the past, via witch hunting and demonising politicians, but he also stated, without equivocation, he would try to recover the vast asset and loot the GEJ government plundered. Every government should probe that it has succeeded and not that three regimes before it. I don,t know when Shekarau and other Nigerians will understand this. How undemocratic and backward would Buhari look if he started discriminating against and alienating those who have not been convicted of any wrongdoing, like OBJ, in a competent court of law? |
. |
bettercreature:Simple. This is how members of a sophisticated electorate should think and talk. We should learn to hold leaders accountable as is done in the best democracies and embrace our civic duty of voting them out if they do not deliver the socio-economic changes we want to see. |
I am a big fan of Amaechi. This is not because he defied Jonathan but because he displayed uncharacteristic bravery, against overwhelming force, Nigerian politicians are not known for. Overall, he was an effective Governor also. I think he will be a good Minister. He will not be afraid to deliver results especially now he is backed the equally uncompromising Buhari. Whether folks agree or not, the likes of Ameachi are needed in Nigerian politics of today. Everything is not about pen pushers and weak technocrats like Aganga and Allison-Madueke who have 'loaded' CV's but are horrid and highly ineffective leaders. We all have to remember that Nigerians voted for Buhari because of their belief he will always do the right thing regardless of whose Ox is gored. We have to allow Buhari do same also. I.e choose those he feels have the character and skillset to help him succeed as President regardless of whose Ox is gored. Ameachi is in this category. |
Abeyjide:Don't mind them. The weak crook called GEJ never had to beg anyone to confirm the gangsters he nominated and we are to believe Buhari would do so? Nigerians love super stories that defy logic and common sense. People need to bear in mind that the legislative arm is probably the most corrupt, most self-serving and most irresponsible arm of government. These selfish 'tools' will rebel against a resolute and strong President? Let us wait and see. |
NgeneUkwenu:100% correct. GEJ nominated some very shady characters as Ministers and Ministers of State. Yet they were confirmed. For example Obanikoro. I laugh at this silly report. All the names will be confirmed. It is only folllowers and supporters of politicians that fight themselves. The politicians themselves know when to behave in relation to each other. "Beg" indeed. What a load of rubbish packaged for a people (Nigerians) who love their Nollywood-style and 'mammy water' stories. |
razid:Well-said bruv. You are 100% correct yet Nairalanders are never happy if they cannot 'categorize' you. You must be "APC paid per post" or a "political hireling" yet the last thing they will consider is that you may simply be a Nigerian who wants the best for his or her Country and is accordingly ready to support any political leader who can bring the requisite National development. Nothing I have not been called here but I don't care. As you rightly opined, many of us support the APC because we believe the Party provides better personnel and policies to aid the development of Nigeria. If the APC begin to go the way of the PDP then I will personally stop supporting them and will begin speaking on behalf of those I believe can perform better. |
mbulela:yes the Sun revels in sensationalism and sells truckloads of newspaper via peddling half-truths and hyperbole sometimes. Yet, in this case, my personal opinion is that Allison-Madueke and her associates, that she directly empowered, probably stole far more than the amount mentioned. |
OnReflection:Indeed. Anyone who has edited the Sun for that long is virtually a politician too - at least as per having impeccable insider connections to the halls of power. |
tucky200:The OP is tooo old for this childish behaviour. This is why I quoted his post because I knew h would edit it dishonestly. Many do this on NL. In his original post I quoted he wrote: Source: just have faith. He then edited his original post to show; Source: I'm only wishing this happens Is that not dishonest and deceitful behaviour?
