Dr.Ikedife has nothing to fear. Buhari is a fair and principled man. There is nothing in his character that would allow him to marginalise or mistreat any ethnic group . In fact I suspect Buhari will be especially good to the Igbos because the General realises that old wounds must heal if Nigeria is to get the best out of all her citizens. The truth is that Igbos can become very fond of and supportive of Buhari, despite their electoral rejection of him, if the General leads all corners of Nigeria well and assist the completion of projects important to the Igbos that the cynical and self-serving GEJ never bothered with. I think Buhari will actually go out of his way to respect and assist Igbos. I would personally, if president, because leaders must always rise above shallow sentiments to unite those they lead and foster the development of reconciliation, inclusion and peaceful coexistence that delivers socio-economic development Of a people. A Nigeria consisting of ethnic groups primed to fight and resist each other always is not good for the prospect of a great Nigeria. |
How is this bad news? Basically the message is that we Nigeria men have the 'tools' and can use it well while our ladies can 'grind' as well. Every side is happy and "satisfied". ![]() |
omenka:Word !!! |
gwales:Indeed. With time, I think many will come to appreciate how visionary and ahead of his time Okorocha is. |
Personally, I love the understated and modest Ogbonnaya Onu. Loyalty and dedication personified. He has proven he can be trusted and will work for his principled belief in a better Nigeria. I like Ngige also but prefer Onu for SGF if indeed APC has zoned the position to the SE. |
JiggamanGh:Mahama is gone. Ghanaians , politically more united than Nigerians in my opinion, are even more angry with him than divided Nigerians were with GEJ. Very difficult to rig elections in Ghana in favour of a very unpopular candidate. Incumbents losing in Ghana is no big deal at all. Give or take, the will of the people prevails in Ghana. I personally want Mahama gone. Ghana deserves better than him. I can tell you that he is very corrupt and has caused the problems of Ghana with his dedication to corruptly enriching cronies and political affiliates to the detriment of the nation. I know some of his affiliates, some barely literate, who were very broke before he came to power yet are now luxuriating in garish opulence. I am sure Ghanaians will do the needful and dump Mahama. I did not fancy Nana Akufo-Addo last time round but I think Ghanaians should now give him a chance. The Buhari factor may work for him because NPP will use the Nigerian example, especially if Buhari is doing well, to argue the merit of going with an elderly and wise leader who is too old to seek personal fortunes but is not too old to be on a patriotic 'rescue mission' . |
This is why some hate Tinubu passionately. the man is always besting others intellectually and legitimately to get his way. Osinbajo unknown yesterday and now VP-elect today because of Tinubu's 100% effort and sagacity. Jagaban eh ka aro, eh ka osan, eh ka ale. Osinbajo noni. |
Ilekeh:I think Hakanai means that APC should be careful of the desperation of the PDP. The aptly named "nest of killers" may be up to something nefarious. |
As I have always argued, Jonathan is no Statesman or gentleman. His hands was forced by the international community that used the threat of him ending up like Gbagbo to force GEJ concede victory to Buhari. GEJ did everything to hold on to power but as the selfish individual he is he was quick to blink when the international community put the squeeze on him. This does not mean this desperate President and his many Orubebes are not still not up to something and plotting actively. APC needs to be alert. |
You guys, perhaps out of joblessness, just love coming here to start nonsensical threads. First of all, how is age an impediment to doing this job when the main challenges will be intellectual and not physical? Secondly, in crooked, corrupt and materialistic Nigeria where many young folks grow up on a diet of "get rich quick by any means" which makes them ready to abuse whatever position they find themselves in for personal gains (eg Dimeji Bankole) then perhaps Buhari, as a president who cannot afford to fail, is right going for an old and wise head with unimpeachable integrity and a wealth of wisdom and experience that will be very useful in this position. Overall, I don't think you have a point at all and your sensationalist thread title is just attention-seeking because Buhari has not declared any war against the youths. Any Youth of proven integrity, talent and character will be given a chance in Buhari's government. |
CyberWolf:Please stop digging a bigger hole for yourself. Speak for yourself but don't attempt to do so for your offensive and braggart kinsmen whose post are still here in black and white. Is what is written below "condemnation" to you? You just cannot accept that many of your kinsmen are hateful and love causing offence. Why won't they be reminded of their offensive ways which always target others - especially the Yorubas. Look at the chap below insinuating the East will become Japan while insinuating that the "rascals" are in trouble. Is the East now Japan and has the SW turned into Afghanistan courtesy of being sidelined by GEJ as your kinsmen arrogantly demanded? Speak for yourself alone. You may well be decent and not part of any agenda of vendetta against others but you are coming off arrogant trying to tell Yorubas, the victims and target of this unrequited hate, they mock the Igbos resurrecting this thread. What are the chap below and others "condemning" ? If you are to be honest with yourself, are they not the ones mocking others and thus deserving at least to be called out for their puerile ways and malevolent wishes for the SW? Has any of their malevolent prediction for the Yorubas come to pass? dempeople: gokuu: kasiem: |
CyberWolf:If you see it as "mocking Igbos" then this shows I am correct when I say many of you are unable to learn any positive lessons from any situation because of deep-rooted hatred for others and your egocentric ways. Have you ever put yourself in the shoes of the Yorubas in 2011? They had just given Jonathan 5 out of 6 SW States to make him President only to be reading that we must be "punished" and "starved". Why should anyone advocate for the "punishment" of the Yorubas if not the "chop sand" obsession of some of your kinsmen against us? Did we not play our part to make GEJ President? It is therefore very pertinent, because I am Yoruba and a victim of the blind hatred of some of your kinsmen towards my ethic group, to show what we put up with so that such is on record when some of your revisionist kinsmen ,who ran amok spreading the message of "punishing" and marginalizing the Yorubas, start playing innocent "they hate and marginalise us" victims today as has begun already on Nairaland with the many whining threads we are seeing. Overall, I did not resurrect this message to mock Igbos but sentimental Igbos are free to see it that way. I don't give a toss. Yet sensible Igbos will understand the point which is that there is no future in politics of hatred, bitterness and "chop sand" vendetta. If you remain obsessed with playing politics that way then be ready for others to say "I told you so" while while entirely at liberty to debunk any of your revisionist attempt to play victim since it is now crystal clear some of your folks are happy to dish out to others what they say the entire Nigeria is conspiring to carry out against Igbos. |
CyberWolf:There is nothing like "it's your time" for most Yoruba people. We are not wired like that even if your are personally. It is simply Nigeria's time to make progress under a disciplined, ascetic, pro-people and genuinely caring leader. I.e the sort we need badly yet the PDP has failed to give us since 1999. It is you, because of your 'them against us' mindset, who must always make everything about ethnicity and "our time". People like you are so predictable. Even on this thread I earlier mentioned your "our time" mentality which you now rush in to confirm. You simply have no capacity for learning lessons that can make you get along better with other and build bridges instead of always looking for "our time" politics you assume will help you get vengeance against others. Buhari is not President to the SW and the North. He is President of the SE, SS and all corners of Nigeria. Only a foolish or myopic Yoruba will therefore see the GMB/Osinbajo tenure as "our time" rather than understand that this is a time for reconciliation and a time all good Nigerians can come together and support the first genuinely pro-people President we have had since 1999 to go on and transform our nation for the better. I know and this is why I resurrected this thread. I want some hypocrites running around the forum shouting "Nigeria must break up" and "lower Niger SE/SS union" to confront their own duplicitous utterances, indecency, hypocrisy and sheer hatefulness against others. There was no talk of "break up" or "lower Nigeri union" in 2011 as this thread confirms. Then it was all about "na owa time". "We have our SE/SS President in place and must punish and starve the Yorubas". |
Emyben:Well you can pat yourself on the back for this assumption. Language is nothing in the grand scheme of things. What is far more important is the unity and political sophistication that makes Ghanaians unanimously able to stand as one, whether Fanti, Ewe or Ashanti, to call out political misrule and under-performance for what it is. Unlike Nigeria where many, because of ethno-religious bias, are happy to vote for the continuation of a clearly failed and horribly misruling Government. Personally I would prefer Nigerians be the worst at using the English language in the world in favour of us being a people who know how to shun sentiments and ethno-religious bias to hold elected leaders accountable as the Ghanaians seem able to do. Unless Dramani Mahama does something drastically transformational or positive then the Ghanaian election will not be as close as ours was because Mahama will be voted out overwhelmingly with even his own children probably voting against him. |
hakanai:My brother, we are all tired of it but we thank God Buhari won so that, hopefully, a new, productive, united and nation-building way of doing things can now be put in place to rid our nation of the immense damage GEJ has done. I have always said GEJ was a very dangerous President and I stand vindicated today because GEJ fed into the fears, bias and historical hatred/resentment Nigerians had for each other to feather his political nest. He divided Nigerians and set them against each other when he should be father to all. Let us hope we never see his kind again because the genocide in Rwanda is very much a possibility under selfish and callous leaders like GEJ who only know how to bring out the darkness in man rather than seek to draw out what is good, decent and productive in their citizens for the betterment of society. Buhari will be a far, far better President than any the PDP has given Nigeria since 1999. Of that I am sure. |
khamas19:Exactly what I told him above. No one is lying here and good Igbos, who want a new and progressive way forward, will be ashamed by the ungracious and vindictive 2011 conduct of their kinsmen on this thread shortly after GEJ became President. They could not even wait to begin clannishly claiming GEJ as an SE/SS President only who must "punish" and "starve" the SW. Sadly, GEJ listened to them and they have now ruined him and his legacy today. It is high time some see and accept that politics of ethno-religious hatred, "Chop sand" vendetta and bitterness will never get anyone far. GEJ keyed into this and took so many Nigerians for a ride. Today what has GEJ done/delivered for the SE or even his own native SS? Yar Adua did more for the SS than GEJ and his "sons of the soil" looters (Orubebe, Allison-Madueke et al) did. Is it not time for every Nigerian who wants progress for our nation to confront the truth and face what matters? |
EUROBOMBER:I did. Any problem with that? This is a thread I participated in where I urged some to leave aside bitter, hateful and vendetta-driven politics. It is very pertinent and entirely in order today to 'resurrect' this thread that shows the hypocritical outlook of some people who always operate with a mindset clouded by hatred for others. It is deplorable some openly justified their call for the Yorubas, who voted for GEJ and made him President, to be "punished" in 2011 while they who showed Buhari and the APC nothing but disdain and almost 100% electoral rejection are now at the forefront of making demands. It is important to highlight the historical behaviour of some posters because the manner those people embrace wholesale revisionism to be accusing the Yorubas of wrongdoing today is nauseating given that their old posts are still here which damn them as vendetta-driven and irredeemable haters and hypocrites. You too, if such is in your character, can take lessons from how the Yorubas behaved which is very distinct from the tantrum-centred behaviour of your kinsmen today, after GEJ's loss, simply because they fail to understand that politics is always about permanent interest and not permanent friends or enemies. The message is simple. If you are a decent person then you will see that all that has transpired means the only alternative you are left with is to tell some of your folks to stop politics of hate, "chop sand" vendetta and bitterness. When the shoe is now on the other foot we can all see that the Yorubas are not advocating for anyone to be "punished" or "starved". We merely want all Nigeria and the SW to make progress under Buhari and Osinbajo. it would be nice if others put their hatred aside to key into this also. I don't know why Nigerians have to make the simple concept of politics delivering socio-economic progress a retrogressive obsession with focusing on the past. |
Jk210:It is because some Igbos think the Yorubas owe them some blind and automatic loyalty as per "southern solidarity". Yet when the Yorubas play politics of pragmatism, which means we must build bridges and inspect what all sides have to offer, some are terribly upset we have not supported them blindly and myopically as they are always prone to doing for anything/anyone they are connected with. This is why they can be shouting "betrayal" at the SW over the 2015 election when any reasonable person will agree that they are merely talking out of a sense of prejudice, hate and unreasonable 1diocy. When GEJ was deemed "transformation" in 2011 the Yorubas voted for him and he won five out of the six SW States because the region loves the concept of trying to support those they think will deliver good governance. Fast forward 4 years in which GEJ has totally destroyed Nigeria and singled out the Yorubas for ridicule and tacitly endorsed their ethnic derision from his SS and SE minions. Is it then not an entirely unreasonable mind that will not understand that the Yorubas are fully justified rejecting Jonathan? They want us to always automatically and myopically join them in fighting the North and denying "born to rule" of power yet they will never understand that the Yorubas have more on their mind than the blind, vengeful and unending hatred of others. We think of the development of Nigeria and our region. We think of the dignity and pride of Nigeria and we think of what is best for the common man. That is what drove the choice we made for the 2015 election even if some will never understand this because they always want to make war and not love/peace. Today they are the ones mainly to be found wishing failure on APC and GMB never mind that they will be the main victims of misrule as is the case for all of us with PDP 16 years misrule that affected everyone and did not spare those who did not vote PDP. It is a shame Nigeria has so many enemies within as it just means our journey to progress and prosperity will take longer than it needs to. When a people cannot even wait graciously for a leader to be sworn in, to see what said leader can do, and must wish him failure then you know the 'human capital' endowment of Nigeria is regrettably not what it should be. |
superstar1:I know and this is why I resurrected this thread. To the credit of the Yorubas, and as this thread confirms, we did not make a fuss as some sore losers, totally incapable of understanding that politics remain about permanent interests, are doing today. Rather than see the Presidency of GEJ as an opportunity to chase the development of their region and hold GEJ to his promises, they were myopically more interested in using the Presidency to marginalize, ostracize and "punish" the Yorubas to the extent they were willing to support GEJ back to power while completely ignoring the fact that he did not deliver on any promise he made to them. "chop sand syndrome" right there. As long as GEJ is making the Yorubas "chop sand" they did not mind that he had reneged on all his promises to them. http://saharareporters.com/2014/08/03/re-why-pdp-may-win-again-osita-okechukwu Their answer is anchored on ancient prejudice arising from the Biafran civil war. They will tell you that Ndigbo have been, 'Chopping Sand' post civil war and if Jonathan's victory can make their brother contemporaries in the Nigerian project to 'Chop Sand' that will not be a bad idea.Today they make sentimental noise not because they think Buhari will not deliver for Nigeria but because their "sectarian President" has been ousted and along with that comes the end of the ethnic tool of "chop sand" vengeance they had transformed the GEJ Presidency into. To now see these same people writhing around today in "lower Niger" self-righteousness is pathetic given their old vendetta-driven postings are still here which showed they cared for no regional alliance when they thought they controlled Nigeria. A potent example of what ethnocentric hate and an over-emotional approach to life can do to people. |
vicenzo:Tragic to see how hatefully sentimental and vengeful some are to the extent their sense of reasoning and talk is seriously compromised and shown up as nothing but empty chest-beating. Where is TINAPA today ? Did GEJ help the SE and SS to make those two regions the Dubai of Nigeria today to the detriment of of the SW, as some openly demanded, or is it that the SW, despite the ill-will of some, remains the most economically prosperous regional economy in Nigeria today and our nation's number one and fastest-growing economy according to regional composition? Kai hate has destroyed many minds. |
The rants of two-faced ethnic hatred of others and hypocrisy. When they thought they had a 'local champion' who would act like an SE/SS President and help them take revenge against the Yorubas they were happy to claim "one Nigeria" to be shouting "starve them" and "punish them" or "pay back time". hollandis:Today the same nauseatingly hypocritical folks are now advocating "lower Niger" SE/SS union and the "break up of Nigeria by May 29th" merely because their local champion and ethnic godfather has lost the election. It is now clear this Hollandis and others like her, if indeed she is female, are nothing but enemies of progress not at all concerned with the progress of Nigeria and only obsessed with "starve them" vengeance against others. What I don't get is why they cannot now swallow the bitter pill they wanted to force down the throat of others years ago and must now come here daily to rant about "betrayal" etc. I don't see any betrayal greater than living amongst a people and thriving in their land yet remaining filled with hatred for those accommodating and tolerant people while continuing to seek vengeance against them every damn day. https://www.nairaland.com/2241165/nigeria-break-up-before-may#32430702 Hollandis wrote: Nigeria is dividing before May29th |
gokuu:It should now be clear to Yorubas how some are obsessed with "payback time" against us even when our region remain the most hospitable, most accomodating and tolerant of all. Na wa sha. You profit the most from a people yet you remain entirely obsessed with seeing them "punished" and getting "payback". All because, as Osita Okechuckwu eloquently stated, some remain obsessed with seeing others "chop sand". Mr.Gokuu, how market today? Where has the politics of hate, vengeance and bitterness got you? What have you gained from supporting GEJ clannishly for 5 years while people like you turned him into an SE/SS President and ensured he perceived Yorubas as his enemy. The sad thing is that you lot have no capacity for learning lessons. The hate that drives you is too strong to allow you to do that. Imagine someone who probably was not alive when Awolowo was politically active still hatefully ranting against the man. "chop sand syndrome" fully on display on this thread. http://saharareporters.com/2014/08/03/re-why-pdp-may-win-again-osita-okechukwu The Chop-Sand-Syndrome proponents in the South East, will tell you that APC being championed by Yorubas and Hausas means that there is nothing in the kitty for Ndigbo; whether President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, is performing or not. |
EzeUche3:You have now seen how we 'reacted'. We will see how you will react yet the signs are not encouraging considering that all we have seen from your kind is the ungracious behaviour of throwing your toys out of the pram and calling the SW names after GEJ lost. You guys are simply too sentimental to learn from your mistake and grasp, once and for all, that politics of bitterness, hatred, vengeance and "punishment" will take you nowhere. Politics remain about permanent interest above everything else even if your desire to see others "chop sand" prevents you from ever seeing this. |
Sooroptimist1:Look at how I dedicated many post on this thread to telling them this vendetta-driven outlook is foolhardy and futile. They would not listen. Yet they rise up to insult the Yorubas of all sorts today when it is on record, as I have always argued and as Nairaland archives now proves, that we remain on the side of what is just, equitable and will produce a great Nigeria. I warned them that GEJ would end up a loser if he 'ethnicised' his Presidency but many of these vengeful folks were too carried away with the euphoria of how GEJ would help them "punish" the Yorubas to see sense and note the long term repercussion of disrespecting the Yorubas who, even if despise by a particular ethnic group, are a force to reckon with in Nigerian politics. Today, given the insults and threats of SE/SS union/secession and "lower Niger" alliance that has followed the loss of GEJ, it is obvious some people have learnt no useful lesson and remain too sentimental for their own good. This thread is perfect proof of that. Some can never learn because what drives them, above everything else, is a vindictive and malevolent desire to see others "punished". They will always make serious mistakes because of this mindset since their sentimental thought processes precludes them from accepting that politics remain about permanent interest above everything else. |
@OP. She is gorgeous sha. Yet, most beautiful black girl in the world tag is debatable. Fine girl nonetheless. |
Gbawe:We warned GEJ he would end up the losers if he listened to those urging him to "punish" and ostracise the SW. Shame these people are now quick to abandon their 'local champion' GEJ, after he did their bidding and pushed the Yorubas aside, and are now sucking up to Buhari. Totally unprincipled and amoral behaviour. |
EzeUche2:Hope some can now see politics is about permanent interest and not permanenf enemies. Those who shouted for the SW to be "punished" plus openly and shamelessly insisted GEJ must work for the SE and SS alone are the ones quickest to make demands on Buhari today despite not supporting him at all. I have never seen this sort of shameless hypocrisy anywhere before. We warned them GEJ, their messiah, must build bridges and carry all along, especially as he won 5 out of 6 SW states, yet commonsense is not so common among people who are first driven by a lust for vengeance, against others, above everything else. Today GEJ , the ethnic messiah of some, is gone and will be forgotten soon. |
chukwudi44:Blah, blah , blah. When are you going to do the honourable thing and deactivate your account as you pledged? |
@OP. Wonderful post and I commend the graciousness of mind that led you to to see, by yourself and without the prompting of anyone, how you could improve upon your own personal efforts towards the betterment of your nation. I don't know you but I believe you will do well in life because people who are able to introspect, recognise what they are doing wrong and correct themselves , without the intervention of others, tend to always make productive and rational choices in life. We are all driven by sentiments, bias, prejudices and emotion. It is those who rise above those primordial sentiments who usually end up leading others and carving out solutions society can use to better itself. Personally, I may come across as rude and unaccommodating to some people but it is because I am disgusted with how backward Nigeria is and it sometimes makes my blood boil to see Nigerians themselves, i.e Nairalanders, defending their oppressors who have stripped them of dignity. Why defend leaders who cannot give you constant electricity after 16 years of trying whereas many nations of the world have had constant electricity for many, many decades? If a new Government comes in, why not support it to succeed given that what the PDP has delivered over 16 years is backwardness only Nigerians who have never stepped outside Nigeria will deem worthy of supporting? We should all shun sentiments and get behind the government of the day to demand that we gain the minimum that dignifies human existence as obtains throughout the world. It is not about our personal ego or need to be 'liked' on Nairaland. For all balanced Nigerian who are fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, grandparents, uncles et al it is about a working Nigeria and supporting whoever can make that a reality. |
onyi4edu:You say Buhari is "particular" about the GEJ administration. Can you kindly tell us how far back you want him to go ? 1960? 1975 or 1992.? While at it please tell us the common practice adopted worldwide as a balance of effectiveness and pragmatism. |
