janus05: nnachukz:Can you guys just drop the bitter and self-defeatist pessimism for a minute and use your God-given ability to reason effectively? currently, Buhari has no official power. Non. Anyone who writes as if he does is merely looking to wind-up Nigerians because they know how gullible and sentimental most are. In short, they can predict you will make rash conclusions to give response which they anticipate to be similar to the two above. Whatever is done/approved now and between May 29th is at the request of the GEJ Government. Buhari is entirely free, in regards to areas he has executive control over, to reverse any last minute actions/traps from the outgoing Government that will frustrate or impede the cost-cutting policies and drives he wants to adopt. |
dutchjongen:They are all cowards hoping they can cower Berem because she is female. I bet any money most of them are frustrated wretches and losers who beat their wives/girlfriends black and blue every day. They think they can intimidate women here but everyone can tell they are just pathetic cowards. |
angelsing:Well-said. GEJ made it a leadership art form to divide Nigerians horribly along ethno-religious and sectional lines. He did not care the damage he was causing or how long it will take to repair the very toxic enmity and distrust he was deliberately promoting among Nigerian ethnic groups. I hope Nigeria, under Buhari, can now move on as a people focused on issues like adequate power supply, jobs, SME growth, optimal healthcare, infrastructure and general socio-economic growth. Turning a frustrated people against themselves has always being an exploitative and devastating 'divide-and-rule' tool despotic and highly callous leaders have used throughout history to retain power and relevance. It is a shame Nigeria had to experience this through the warped leadership of GEJ. Lord knows we have enough problems already as as a people and a nation. |
Just because GEJ set a very bad precedence of divisive, ethnocentric and vindictive leadership does not mean all who come after him will be like him. Buhari is a leader of men whereas Jonathan is not. I am sure Buhari want to be remembered fondly by all Nigerians rather than a section of Nigeria only. To that end Nigerians, on both side of the fence, are wasting their own time waiting for GMB to marginalize any ethnic group. The man is here to rescue Nigeria and set her on the path of greatness. He will need every hand on deck for that project and cannot afford to discriminate against anyone. Noteworthy that this has never been the style of Buhari anyway. GMB has always favored merit and ability above everything else. Buhari will be President to all Nigerians. I actually think it is to the glory of Nigeria if every region is empowered and assisted to thrive according to its own pace and unique endowment/ability. |
@OP The inept and 'accidental' President, who was always out of his depth, has only succeeded in bankrupting Nigeria. Tragic someone like this was pushed all the way to the Presidency by the likes of Obasanjo, Anenih and many self-serving 'godfathers'. Like or hate Tinubu but the reality is that he would never, not even for massive financial gains' promote and back a totally incompetent and completely clueless politician like GEJ to administer the affairs of Nigeria. I said it last year that, come May 2015, GEJ will leave and be the last accidental President Nigeria will ever have. I have now been proven right. Buhari has set a new precedence now. He fought for over a decade to become President unlike OBJ who was handed the Presidency and Yar Adua who was virtually bullied into it by Obasanjo. We then ended up with GEJ, a very poor leader placed far above his station, who stumbled into the Presidency by an accident of fate. In the future, post Buhari, it must now be about men who want to lead, have the history and character that show they can lead effectively and position themselves willing and passionately to be President. No more dullard imposition of 'unknown', unwilling and unprepared leaders on Nigeria as President because we now see that this can have terrible consequences for the future of millions. We must now have only those who want to lead, are ready to lead and have the innate qualities to lead well. |
omonnakoda:100% true and we would hope some, always driven by sentiments and ego, would learn valuable lessons from this yet I seriously doubt this. The bottom line, which is also the commonsensical approach most Yorubas adopted, is that all major Nigerian ethnic groups need each other as long as we legally remain constituent parts of Nigeria with full power to determine who gets what politically. Jonathan was reminded of the danger of the ethnic politics he was playing many, many times by many, many Nigerians. Unfortunately for him, he was surrounded by many ethnic jingoists from the SE and SS with scores to settle against the Yorubas, like Clarke et al, who kept telling him he did not need to worry about the Yorubas and could get away with marginalizing, ignoring and even "punishing" them. The calculation was that GEJ should instead focus on throwing the 'a.b0k1s some 'Carrots' as a political strategy to secure his 2015 return to Aso Rock. What has now emerged, as the biggest lesson pragmatic folks will heed, is that a Nigerian President must not openly show disdain for any major Nigerian ethnic group while Nigeria remains a nation that conducts elections every 4 years that all ethnic groups are allowed to vote in. The misrule of GEJ is, first and foremost, the major cause of his loss and downfall. Yet some clannish followers of GEJ added to the magnitude of his defeat with how they instigated him against the SW. Because of a primordial search for vendetta, they all acted as if the Yorubas would not be allowed to vote and thus have their say when the time is right as some of us warned would be the case when the SE and SS ethnic protagonist were at their loudest hurling insults against the Yorubas daily while GEJ watched with tacit approval. Well, the Chicken came home to roost and GEJ and his gang of thieves are all going home or perhaps to prison. |
babyosisi:You have the option of avoiding the thread you repellent and nauseating bigot. We know every mention of the SW or "Yoruba" makes your blood boil but suck it up because you have no right to intolerantly say what others must discuss or not let alone call folks "eediots" for inspecting a topic that strikes at your heart like a dagger because of your disgusting ethnic prejudice against everything Yoruba. |
olatunji21:No. He is like the opposition Okonjo-Iweala . |
SNP rallying Scotland into a renewed frenzy of nationalism won the election for Cameron. Labour were decimated in Scotland and even did poorly where expected to consolidate upon previous performance. E.g london. The biggest Tsunami is that Ed Balls , shadow Chancellor, lost his seat to the Conservative Party. The position of Miliband is untenable in my opinion and I predict he will step down as Labour leader. |
Equalizer:Watching it right now live and followed throughout the night. It is like the GMB vse GEJ scenario where only a few results left but they happen to be from the stronghold of the projected winner. Cameron, of the less than 30 plus constituencies to be announced, needs 18 with projection the conservstive will win around 26 of the remaining constituencies awaited. Miliband has more or less conceded defeat. |
Cameron is the winner with an outright majority albeit a small one. Well done Mr.Prime Minister. |
Tragic to see Okonjo-Iweala becoming the 'grand orchestrator' of the callous economic mismanagement and wanton looting that has now crippled Nigeria. She had the nerve to lie brazenly that Nigeria was economically 'buoyant' while many of us who knew the truth insisted she was lying shamelessly. The Cat is now out of the bag and I would like NOI to attempt spinning the current developments now revealing how messed up Nigeria is contrary to the lies she and her colleagues used to buy time in the hope they will continue https://www.nairaland.com/1839576/ghanas-economic-woes-worsen-apply/1 Gbawe: |
Nuzo1:First, there is no "divisive comments about Nigerian ethnic groups and region" led by any false sense of superiority as you claim. You only make this conclusion because of inferiority complex and guilty conscience. Fact is that Yorubas have a well-established 'omoluabi' culture underpinned by decorous and respectful behavior towards others. Fayose severely breached and ridiculed these omoluabi code of conduct. Rightly, as I stated previously, not many Yorubas are proud or supportive of him today. Secondly, I don't mince my words or hide. When I talk of those not from the SW I am specifically addressing the unreasonable and clannish elements from the SE and SS who are ethnocentric devotees of GEJ, and by extension the PDP. These people, despite the much-condemned antics of the man, have elevated Fayose to hero status and are even more vocal in their defense of him than his own folks. These people do this because they are hate-filled losers who worship the principle "an enemy of an enemy is my friend" whereas all decent and well-raised folks should know and accept that the line must be drawn at the disgrace to Nigerian leadership called Fayose . The man is a horridly divisive throwback any sane, decent or morally-upright person should not be supporting after all he has done recently. I am not talking to balanced, educated and morally upright SE and SS folks who do not find it tolerable to begin backing an uncouth thug, who has offended many needlessly, merely because said thug is the 'man Friday' of GEJ in the SW as these Nairaland pests do. It is good of me to remind these offensive tw1ts what they are by consequence of supporting Fayose. Would anyone expect refined and decorous folks likes Ken Nnamani, Donald Duke, Pat Utomi, Ogbonnaya Onu, Olisa Agbakoba et al to be blind supporters and backers of the rude, undemocratic and completely lawless disgrace to leadership called Fayose? As if even you do not know it is the ethnocentric, wicked and mannerless among your folks blindly supporting a man who is a disgrace to his own kinsmen because of his abominable conducts. If Faose was a champion of good leadership then I would understand the clannish support and "love" some from the SE and SS are now showing for him. Given he has totally unraveled as a lawless thug, more concerned with causing mayhem than leading Ekiti, I can only conclude it is the usual "chop sand" elements supporting a totally worthless leader for wicked and malevolent reason which has zilch to do with the good governance of Nigerians. Jonathan benefited from this as well and I think you know precisely what I mean given how hideously he misruled Nigeria yet still retained clannish support. Keep running from the truth and keep deceiving yourself about the bitterness that drives the behavior of some of your folks. Fayose my foot. A man who cannot be held up for good leadership and is only an example of lawlessness and thuggery is now a 'hero' to some? This shows the anti-people wickedness in the heart of some Nigerians. They have lost the plot. |
Fayose is such an unrefined tout. Imagine his insinuation that Muazu should have joined their mudslinging against Buhari and the APC especially now that it is widely accepted that the vile tactic Fayose, PEJ, FFK et al deployed was one of the factors that cost PDP the election. Anyway, those from outside the SW can remain here praising their new hero to high heaven. Those of us from Yoruba land who are truly and genuinely vested in 'omoluabi' culture know what Fayose is and why all decent Yorubas, brought up properly to be decorous and respectful, will have nothing good to say about Fayose after his recent antics. Fayose is the sort, in Yoruba land, that fathers disown, mothers shun and siblings turn their back on. Some people are welcomed to him but I will make this prediction for his new 'fans'. Fayose will destroy himself soon, because of his odious and callous conduct, and you people will need to find another thug masquerading as a leader, from the SW, to follow and hail. |
spako4:That is the modus operandi of GEJ. He empowers thugs and cretins everywhere. This is why Militant warlords are official Government pipeline protection contractors in the SS while OPC has the same duty in the SW. The man is a disaster and I am glad Nigeria has been liberated from his reign of madness and destruction. |
omenka:It will be most likely a hoax. All these pictures are fake. |
The Vultures have turned on each other and are now tearing themselves apart. Lovely show ![]() |

Let us not forget the hard-working Nigerians who are busy getting things done unlike the haters who come online to rant bitterly against a landmark achievement all Nigerians should celebrate as a sign of what we expect to see in most States of Nigeria, in the nearest future, all converging into one modular and interlinked modern national rail transport system. https://i.imgur.com/OOkA7tT.jpg |

bashydemy:That is precisely what it is. Now that Lagos is under the ruling Party then I will expect the State to be even more drastically transformed in the next 8 year than we have ever seen. Some of these haters may be dead from heart failure and stress-related ailments before then. |
jascon1:There is no proof Buhari said this to begin with yet even if he did it is stated clearly that he was cracking a joke mocking the "ridiculous assertion" that the North is responsible for the present State of Nigeria today. Anyway, whoever made the statement is correct because it is indeed ridiculous to blame the North for the current state of Nigeria today. If some want to focus on ethnicity rather than good/bad leadership, which is peculiar to individuals and not ethnic groups, then one can argue that the South has led for longest since our current democracy began in 1999 through OBJ (8 years) and GEJ (5 years) with Nigeria having nothing concrete to show for all that time the South was "in charge". I personally like the wit of whoever made the statement because he/she is mocking the ethnocentric focus and proclivity of Nigerians that leads them to generalising an ethnic group as 'failed' because of the individual failure of certain leaders. Ijaws did not fail Nigeria. GEJ did. Likewise Yorubas cannot be held accountable for what GEJ could not deliver as President. To a rational person it is obvious the Ijaws, Yorubas, Hausa, Fulani et al have talented and effective leaders in their ranks even if it is the inept, undeserving and mediocre amongst them who have traditionally made it to the pinnacle of leadership in Nigeria till today because of a political system that worships patronage above merit. OBJ became President as appeasement to the Yorubas over June 12. Yar Adua was a disinterested and unprepared President OBJ foisted on Nigeria with the hope of gaining a 'controllable' stooge. GEJ is an accidental President. Non are like Buhari who has fought unrelentingly to lead Nigeria for more than a decade now. Buhari deliberately wanted to become President out of patriotism and a sense of duty to Nigeria. He has finally gotten there and I believe he will do well. Nigerians should simply support Buhari even if they are doing so for their own sake. If Buhari leads us into an age of progress and socio-economic development then who benefits but ordinary Nigerians? The President-Elect in his speech welcoming the Niger Ambassador cracked a joke by saying: |
Redoil:Super thrilled buddy. How are you ![]() |
