To be granted a US visa,you and your host must have a very close relationship,not just friendship on a platonic leve.The US embassy are normally wary of issuing visas to "friends" especially those who have not met before.In fact,the US government do advice its citizens to be wary of visiting Nigerian friends,who they have met online.They are not oblivious of the 419 schemes These guys perpertate on their "virtual American friends":ditto for sham marriages .So,not to be pessimistic,its gonna be difficult for your bro as the burden of proof on him is so huge.The K1 visa tzetzefly mentioned Is a better option though.

If you are sponsoring yourself you might be asked to present your own bank statements,but if he is sponsoring you,his own bank statements(six months) might be asked.All the CO wants to confirm if you are or not are an intending immigrant.Whatever you do,make sure you dont portray yourself as desperate.x

They would normally ask questions like how and where you met,as well as questions about her family members.So be sure to know her family members very well.

doesn't a host/sponsor giving the visa applicant (who works) a notarized affidavit of support pose as a problem? Assuming the VO goes as far as checking the documents... Won't flags be raised as to why a sponsor has filled out the affidavit (i-134) for someone who should be able to support themselves? That issue of having a relative too. Can I lie the second time around? And say no other or do they have ways of checking if that previously mentioned name is still in the US?

I ask because i applied in March (with no travel history) and was bounced. I am hoping my circumstances change in the next few months. eg salary increase, job promotion. - i hope these count as a change in circumstances.

Of corse the form is not neccessary if one intends to sponsor his/herself.,In fact it was previously used for immigrant visas,until the USCIS adapted it for non-immigrant visas.Consular Officers will always try to find out whether you have relatives in the US or not,even before the interview.And if the person is legally present,such will be revealed.For instance,a partcular woman went for a bi/b2 interview some months back,intending to visit her daughter who is an LPR.At the interview ,the CO inquired about her daughters date of Birth.That question actually amazed her,but she responded.Now,how do you think the CO found out her daughters age,considering that you do not normally fill that in the DS 160 form?they can always unmask ones relatives in the US.Of course,a fatter bank statement might portray you as being more financially stable,reflecting a change in your situation.Ditto for a job promotion.

Of course your marital status could change after applying and the KCC recognises that,but I hope you and your fiancee have been together for some time,and you ve got some courtship pictures as well.They will come in handy in your case.

There is no minimum balance required to travel,although the onus rests on you to prove that you are financially stable and intend to return to Nigeria.Documents that might be helpful include monthly salary stubs,an official letter of employment,and a notarized affidavit of support from a sponsor in the US.
