Asorock 1: Hello tzetzefly and everyone in the house, I just wanna thank you all for your contributions and to thank almighty God for my interview today at the US embassy Abuja, though it wasn't successful, but I think I gained a lot as to experience. Ok this is how my interview went:
VO: good morning
ME: good morning sir how are you ?
VO: good
Me : good thing the system is back( cos they were having some connection problem this morning and some people were asked to return back next week or tomorrow)
VO: yea
VO: your passport and application pls
ME: sure ( I have him)
VO: have you travel outside of Nigeria before
ME: No for every individual there is usually a first time
VO:why you wanna go to US
ME:for tourism and sightseeing as my short annual vacation comes up soon
VO: you work as what?
ME: sales supervisor
VO: how long have u been working for ur company
ME: 6yrs and 4 months
VO:where in US are you going ?
ME: Chicago, iL
VO: type for sometime and then said sorry u are not qualified for a niv, that I should reapply when I travel to other countries.

What does this consular officers mean, if every country starts to behave like them, then no one will issue visa to a virgin passport. Well I'm still in Abuja and I'm considering a Shengen visa , I will be going to Germany or Sweden.

This Americans feels like they are God when in the actual sense they have just very light brain.
Sorry about that. .Many a CO place a high premium on previous travel experience although some do not.But The key to getting a US visa remains the same ie convince the CO that you intend to return to Nigeria after your visit, which you were not able to do in this case. Some of them are unable to trust you with a US visa, until you have actually visited a few countries and returned. The law says every applicant shall be deemed an intending immigrant until he/she is able to prove otherwise. So,you can see those CO'S have got a difficult job in deciphering who or not is a genuine visitor, and of course are not infallible. But you would do well to heed his advise to visit a few nations prior to re-appying .x

engrksa: mr knowitall, u must have been suffering in Nigeria before travelling abroad. I wont why people get amazed with going abroad. I have seen everything here. high level of immorality, u see beggars on road, they discriminate u. abroad is only good for tourism & holidays.
Justwise, I appreciate your good work. leave the dude. I am sure he is from the ghetto dats y he was tripped with usa.
every country has their challenges. u talk abt securities, where were they b4 boston bombing? u seems to be a reactive person and people like u will see travelling abroad as an escape route to riches.
I am sure its either u win visa lottery or u went to visit n decided to stay put or u went to study n refuse to come back home or arranged marriage. I sorry for ur life grin grin

Whole79: Hi Nairalanders, I have a son recently in the US. He's over one month old. I plan bringing him back to nigeria this month to take care of him here in nigeria and for him to be able to see his father. So I plan taking him back to america finally when he is one and for him to be able to start schooling there. My question now is, is it possible for me to apply for permanent residence with the status of my child as american citizen considering the fact that he cannot file for me at present until he turns 21. What is your take and advice ob this? Do I need to wait till he turns 21 or is there a way I can do this? Thank you for your honest answers.i
A US citizen can only file an I-130 petition for his/her parents once he/she turns 21.There are no two ways about it.You would have to wait.

Mr knowitall.:

I can understand you point..but keep in mind that humans have been migrating since the beginning of time....from africa to the middle east to asia.etc...so am sure Nigeria will be ok....
Having graduated with a degree in Chemical Eng from a Nigerian Uni,I ended up in the marketing dept of a bank. And when the opportunity to relocate to the US surfaced, some top notch bank officials advised against it,arguing that I was better off with my bank job, rather than relocate to the US,where they reckon immigrants are worse off.Of course I ignored them and made the move, and several years down the line,It turns out I made a fantasic decision.

vozkini: Hello house, Greetings and happy sunday to you all.
Please M`s of the house and et all, your advice is needed here.
Please what are the basic and general requirement needed for a person residing in the united states to file a permanent residence for his/her siblings from nigeria.?? How long it takes to be approved and the procedure here in nigeria.
He travelled to united states of america with his wife nd kid last 4 years through visa lottery.
Your sincere and focused advice is needed.
Please your contribution are all needed.
First, the US citizen will file a form I-130,Petition for an alien relative, with the USCIS.The siblings of a US CITIZEN fall under the Fourth Preference in the Family Preference Category, and Because Congress has set a limit on the number of relatives who can immigrate in a year, there is usually a waiting period before a visa number becomes available.
Normally, siblings of a US CITIZEN have a waiting time of 10-15 years before a visa number becomes available. This waiting time is determined by
1.Your priority date ie The date a form I-130 was filed for that particular sibling. This holds his/her place in line for an immigrant visa
2.Your Prefence Category-Siblings of a US CITIZEN fall under the fourth preference category ,and the average waiting time is 10 years.
3.The Country your visa will be charged under
Now, when a visa number becomes available(THE STATE DEPARTMENT controls visa numbers),the USCIS will forward your approved petition to the DEPARTMENT of State's National Visa Center, who will in turn contact you when your priority date is about to become current, and when to apply for a visa at a US consulate abroad. You may choose to visit the DOS'S site at www.travel.state.gov,and the USCIS'S site at www.uscis.gov

FrontPageLawyer: also please contact person or organization in the US. I don't have a contact there, going strictly on vacation. made hotel reservation already. How do I feel that part?
You could choose to fill in the name of the hotel

FrontPageLawyer: Hi suxes2005 and all the gurus. please help me answer these questions.

Do I fill b1/b2 for vacation purpose or fill b2 alone?

Location you plan to visit in the US? are they refering to places, e.g museum?

Arrival flight (if known)? Do I put the airline or leave it blank?

Departure flight (if known)? Do I put the airline or leave it blank?

Present Employer or School Name? I'm self employed, so what do i fill in?

As a self employed, what should i fill in the monthly income?
The visa is normally issued as B1/B2 ,so fill B1/B2
2.They are reffering to the name of the city and state you intend to visit. For example,Atlanta,Georgia.Baltimore,Maryland.Make sure you fill it in that order.
3.Its better to leave it blank since you are yet to make a reservation
4.Ditto
5.Fill Self-Employed
6.Fill what you generate on the average as monthly income.

The Us embassy normally issue 2-years M visas, and you can still get it with that passport. You would just need to get a new passport when the current one expires, and travel with both. Now,what does your wife do?

i am applying for student visa for the first time and i have been denied twice for visiting hope they wont deny me again cause i want you all to adice me properly cause have gain alot of experience here kindly tell me all you know that will make me get the visa without much question
To qualify for an F1 visa, you need to prove that you will return home after your studies, and of couuse, you need to have some good info about your intended course, the school ,and the city of its location.Co's normally center their questions around these areas, and your responses can make or mar you.

Hello mr temmy,mr soji and others that have ideal on this I and my wife we are planing to for our trip on first week june and my wife preegnacy we bee seven month then hope the airline would nt giv stres,I mean hope they disturb for to bburd there airline or what did u think we can go with to prove that she 7 month pregnancy thanks.........faith works wonders
All airlines make their rules and regulations regarding pregnant women, but it is usually in the last month of pregnancy(36 weeks)that women are usually prohibited from flying.Specifically, many airlines will require a doctors note, once you reach 27 weeks(third trimester),while most airlines would require a medical certificate once you reach 32 weeks.Although some restrict at seven months, the vast majority restrict around 36 weeks.x

You dont neccesarily have to provide such a reply.Since you have an invitation letter from your uncle, you could say that you intend to visit your uncle and his family, and also for tourism purposes. That is a standard response.

I have looked at the application form and there is nowhere mentioned that you declare your assets. Will you then take your home ownership papers there for interview?
You should take documents that may help butress your case along .The CO may ask for them or not,as they are usually pressed for time. The most important thing is to display a positive body language, and answer the questions convincingly.

Please clarify the bolded. I thought the applicant whose turn it is, goes to the available CO. A sort of random thing.
yes,but if a particular CO has denied you previously,he/she cannot interview you next time you apply. You get interviewed by another CO.Its all in the spirit of fair play.

vozkini: My brother had his interview today at usa embassy. The same mexicn chubby guy@window 3 denied him visa. I learnt he denies people visa anyhow. Without even looking at your ds-160 information or whtsoever. His interest in only on denying people visa at will. Bothe young and old. He even states that the policemen outside the embassy said that the guy is wicked and doesn't even has interest of giving visa to africans at heart. He was asked the following.
Where are you going to in the usa, how long are you stying, what's your purpose? How much is he earning? What's his position there? Then sowi bla bla with a paper.
Sorry about that,Trust me,the CO has to check out ones Ds 160 form before determining which questions are appropriate for a particular applicant. As a matter of fact, most of the info needed is in the form, but theres a reason for the interview.Sometimes, the CO plays a psychological game on you,and once you bungle it,its over.I think this applies to this Mexican guy and the Notorious Chinese lady.Actually, the State Department considers Nigeria a priority, and actually sends some of its best foreign officers to Nigeria,So,those guys at the post are very good. They do not need to ask loads of questions before adjudicating a case, and more often than not, they make correct decisions. But of course there are bad eggs in every organisation. He could choose to re apply if hes got strong ties. And as a rule no CO can interview you twice(having denied you previously),so he will have the chance to present his case to another CO. Better luck next time

Amefrica: There will always be October's selection..
1) 125000 Winners were registered instead of 150000..
2) Not all registered winners will continue d processing(due to financial problem, ignorance n lack of interest)
3) During d interview period, not all winners will be given visa.. Based on academic qualification, many won't have up to 5credits in O'level.. Which may result in visa denial..
Due to all these items, all visas won't be exhausted, which will result in another random selection/release of 2nd batch winners.. I STAND TO BE ADJUSTED
KCC registers approx 105,000 selectees in a fiscal year.
