Konjour: The woman is really lucky. Travelling at that height with that sort of pressure around you in that vulnerable state is frankly asking for trouble. I hope she makes a full recovery though. Regardless of what might happen/could have happened though, the Child was still born in an Arik aircraft, so he/she is still a full-blooded Nigerian. No dual nationality issues. grin
It is not the aircraft that matters,it is the airspace which the plane was flying in at the time of delivery that matters.

dotunbond: Hi all,
please i need some advice. i applied for US visa last year before i got married and during the interview i was asked if my father was a citizen and i replied "yes" which was also what i filled in my form. The CO den replied saying "your dad left nigeria with a visitor's visa and didn't return". I was lost for words as i didnt know anything about my dad's application or that his decisions would affect me. So i was denied a visa and when i asked the reason y, he just passed me a paper that stated general reasons why one can be denied a visa. I reapplied the next month because i was baffled and thot mayb i was to defend myself and prove that i was coming back. I also sent an email to stating everything that happened at the first interview and my amazement at the fact that i was denied because of my dad. The next interviewer i had the following month was a lady which was nice and to cut the long story short, i was denied again and when i asked her to give me the real reason, she said because of my dad and so i asked her "that means i'd never get into the US" and she replied saying it will be very difficult. hmmmmm embarassed cry.
Now i am married and i still wish to go to the US and possibly give birth in the US but have no intention whatsoever of staying there. Any advice on what i can/should do plsssss would be very much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.
too bad the CO's are unable to trust any of your family members as a result of your dad overstaying his visa.they would reckon you probably wanna elope to the US and join your Dad.He has created a difficult situation for you.

Asorock 1: Hi gurus in the house, can someone please advice me, which is acceptable by the embassy on flight reservation , the one done through travel agents or should I just book for a reservation at the airline website, I want to fly Turkish airline .... I intend traveling for a business trip to Paris in October 20 but will be applying nxt week. Again I need a Sample letter of introduction for an employee suitable to present at the embassy.
God bless you.
you wanna appear for the interview before booking a flight.flight reservation doesn't even guarantee the issuance of a visa

jennykadry: I thought multiple entry for visitors visa in the US is for a maximum of 6months stay per entry?
they give both the six month visa and the two year visa. They even give ten years multiple entry in India.I wonder why they can't replicate that in Nigeria

balotelli: i think at times it depends on the VO's mood that determines whether you will be issued a visa or not so one should just be prayerful and rely on Gods favor cos i have seen a Union bank Branch manager denied visa despite he had millions of naira ,goes to UK as if he was going to ijebu and had lotta properties so i think its like a gamble thing grin grin.
Well, the US embassy is a no respecter of persons. You have to overcome the burden of proof in section 216 B of the Immigration and Nationality Act before you can be granted a non immigrant visa.No more,no less.It doesnt matter if you are a banker or a secretary, the requirements are the same. And Of course, luck plays a vital role too.But I can assure that any candidate that appears desperate for a visa will not get it,regardless of his status. So,its crucial that one knows how to conduct himself properly before a COin order to get the US visa he/she dearly craves.

FrontPageLawyer: We keep talking about ties, but how do you convince a CO you have ties in Nigeria when he/she doesn't even care about the documents you carrying?

You married? Yes....no document checked

You have kids? Yes....no document checked.

You work? Yes....no document checked.

How much is your monthly income? 800k.....no document checked.

Why are you not traveling with the family? Wife will be busy at work during summer.....sorry you're not qualify for a visa at this time.

That was during my interview.
Sorry about that. But the thing is,sometimes they check your docs, and sometimes they dont. Its really their discretion. If the Co believes one doesnt sound plausible enough,he/she might ask to see your documents. But because they are hard pressed for time, they might be reluctant to do so sometimes.Ask yourself,if the tables were turned, with you being the CO,would you believe such answers? If the answer is yes, chances are that the co might believe your story ,meaning you might get the visa. Those guys are not magicians you know. But bevcause they have a difficult job of trying to prevent potential illegal migrants into the US,they sometimes deny genuine travellers. So,on the whole,if one sounds so believable to the co,while also not appearing desperate for the visa, the CO would not need to check documents before deciding to grant the visa.that is the crux of the matter
Health / Re: Man Claims To Have Lived Without Eating For 5 Years by Gbenge77(m): 5:40am On Jul 02, 2013
moshoodn: Let's break it down...

If you intend fasting for 40 days, you'll be hungry in the first 4 - 5 days, but I bet you wouldn't really feel hungry in the remaining days cos your body adapts..

That's the fact, I've seen people fast for 40 days, they don't feel hungry midway into the fast....

Hunger comes from the mind.

So, back to our "Breatharian guy"

Well, I'm not gonna say its a lie or its true but I'll let you decide for yourself.

What the body needs for sustenance is energy not food actually. Just that the easiest way to extract or obtain this energy is through food.

Food gets its energy from the sun. So just like food, if you could somehow tap the sun and obtain energy, then no need to eat food.

I've read about gurus talking about energy centres. So, this could be real.

PS: what you can't do, to you feels impossible. What you don't know feels like magic!
Most people live to eat ,instead of living to eat.As a matter of fact, what the human body eats most is fresh air, followed by water ,and then food.Food is the last in the pecking. Most people are gradually killing themselves by the food addiction habit. The less you eat,the longer you live

olukemiyemi: Good day nairalanders,

I intend to apply for a US tourist visa in July. How long does it take from the point of filling out the form online to getting an interview date? I will need my passport around same for a work related trip to another location. I want to avoid not having my passport with me by my interview date. If it so happens that my passport has not been returned to me by my US Visa interview date, can i reschedule my interview.

Thanks.
The appointment wait time varies for Lagos and Abuja, and could be anywhere between 10 and 30 days. And,of course an interview could be rescheduled.
