Politics / 13-yr Marriage Collapses Over Sex Deprivation by gbolakpine(m): 8:28am On Aug 02, 2016
An Igando Customary Court in Lagos has dissolved a 13-year-old marriage between Mr. Rasak Balogun and a businesswoman, Mrs Oluwabunmi Balogun, over food and sex starvation. The petitioner, Mr. Abiodun Balogun, 51, an accountant, had filed a suit seeking the dissolution of his 13-year-old marriage to Oluwabunmi for sex starvation. Forty-year-old Mrs Balogun had raised an allegation that her estranged husband attempted to rape their teenage housekeeper.
She equally notified the court, while responding to a divorce suit filed by her husband, Mr Rasak Balogun, that he was a flirt. However, the husband said: “Whenever we had misunderstanding, my wife would deny me sex and food; and for the past six months now, she had not allowed me to make love to her. “My wife was always accusing me of dating any woman she saw in my car. She once trailed me to a place, stopped my car, dragged out the woman inside my car and gave her the beating of her life.
“She also beat up one of our tenants, whom she accused of having an affair with me. Because of her behaviour, I ordered her to leave my house and when she refused, I packed out from the house.” Abiodun, therefore, urged the court to dissolve his marriage, saying that he was sick and tired of the marriage. The accountant told the court that the love he once had for Olubunmi had faded.
He attempted to rape 12-yr-old housemaid—WIFE
However, the businesswoman-wife said: “He attempted to rape my teenage housekeeper when I went for a vigil. My 12-year-old housekeeper, half-naked, rushed to meet me in the church at about 12 midnight, and told me that my husband wanted to rape her. “She stayed with me throughout the vigil.
The following morning, I took the girl to my husband’s room to repeat what she told me during the vigil. “The housekeeper said the petitioner came into her room, snatched her wrapper and attempted to rape her, but that she escaped and he sent her packing after the confrontation. I also caught him and my friend’s younger sister coming out of a hotel.” The mother of three also alleged that Abiodun was dating a single mother in their street. She said her husband packed out of the house the same day the other woman packed out of hers.
She said: “My husband packed out of the house he built to an unknown destination, abandoning me and our children. He moved out with a lady he was dating in our street to rent an apartment elsewhere. “Despite his infidelity, I still love him,” she added.
Judgment
In his judgment, the court’s President, Mr. Adegboyega Omilola, said the petitioner was adamant despite mediations from the court and family. Omilola ruled: “Since the petitioner insisted on divorce after several interventions, the court has no choice than to dissolve the union in spite of the fact that the wife still claims she loves her husband. “The court pronounces the marriage between Abiodun Balogun and Oluwabunmi Balogun dissolved today. Both parties, henceforth, cease to be husband and wife. “Both are free to go their separate ways without any hinderances and molestation.”

Religion / ”if I Have Been Using Occultic Power, The Congregation Here Will Not Increase by gbolakpine(m): 7:40am On Jul 24, 2016
In a recent review with TheNews, the Senior pastor of The Synagogue Church of All Nations reveals what many claimed to know but actually do not know about his background. Read below…

Many people are confused and they keep asking the question, what is the source of your power? There are critics who keep saying you use demonic or occult power, while others think otherwise.
The source of my power? It is written that by their fruits, you shall know them. If I open my mouth and say this is the source of my power, it would seem I am arrogant or boasting.
Rather, I should boast about what God is doing in my life. It is by this kind of trial that you know the true minister of God.

Please explain

In the Act of Apostles, the early Christian preachers were being disturbed by the Pharisees, Sadducees and the High Priests in the Synagogue and the Temple in Jerusalem.
But among the elderly religious Jews was a man called Gamaliel, a doctor of the law. He quoted the example of Theudas who boasted to be somebody and who attracted over 400 men. He was slain and his followers scattered.
Gamaliele cited example of Judas of Galilee (not Iscariot) who rose in the days of the taxing. He attracted many people, but he perished while his adherents were dispersed. Those were in the days when Israel was under Roman colonialism.
Gamaliel, therefore warned the Jewish, elders. “Refrain from these men (Christian preachers) and let them alone. For if this counsel or this work is of men, it will come to nought. But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it, yet, haply ye be found to be even to fight against God” (Acts 5:38-39, King James Version).
So, if I am not of God, I will not survive this trial. But if I am of God, this trial will not destroy me. Trial is the soil in which faith flourishes. God sees his own people through trial.

Let me ask once again, what is the source of your power, the secret?
I said God. Jesus comes to give abundant life, while satan comes to kill and to destroy.
Are you saying that I use demonic powers to deceive all these foreigners you see around Synagogue here? Right now I am talking to you, there are over 400 foreigners from 10 different countries here. Are these people being deceived, destroyed or killed (as my detractors alleged)? If I have been using occultic power, the congregation here will not increase. If my mission here is not of God, it won’t stand just as Gamaliel said.
When people have their problems solved or they have salvation, they tell others.

There was one Pastor Solomon who made some serious allegation against you. That you were born a Moslem, that your name was Fatai. That you learnt occultism in Kaduna from a Moslem palmist. Pastor Solomon even added that you consult snakes and even wanted to assassinate a woman journalist who wrote a story about you…
This pastor Solomon you named was just a member of the church. So I will not bandy words with him or give dignity to his tissue of lies. “Iro ni gbogbom kini yen o Olorun fori jin won o (these are all lies, God will forgive them)”. I have never done all these things.
I was born a Christian, my parents were Christians. The only connection I had with Muslims was that I attended Ansar-Ud-Deen school, Ikare. I attended 10 different secondary schools under one year.

Why?
I don’t want to go into that. But I thank God.

We read somewhere that you studied mysticism in India…
I have never visited India. It is a lie.

What about the Kaduna Mallam or palmist that allegedly thought you magic?
If somebody taught you how to do something, will you be greater than he is? Tell me, somebody taught you how to write, can you beat that teacher? Can you beat that teacher? Can you beat your editor-in-chief in writing? Where then is the Mallam?

If you maintain that you neither lived in Kaduna nor was trained by palmist, let us know your background.
I was born 12 June 1963 at Arigidi, Ikare-Akoko, at Akoko North Local Government Area of Ondo state.
My father was Pa Kolawole Balogun from Imo quarters and my mother, Madam Folarin Aisha Adesiji Balogun of Oosin quarters of Agbaluku in the city.
Like the John Baptist, whose father went dumb when an Angel predicted his birth or Samuel whose coming was predicted , were there some signs that heralded your birth?
That is a very good question. Over 100 years back, there was one Balogun Okoorun, a farmer, hunter and warrior who was from Oosin Quarters of Agbaluku, at Arigidi Akoko. The man had prophetic powers.

What were his prophesies which were fulfilled?
He predicted that a section of my town would move from their original place to Imo in the north of Arigidi. That was fulfilled in 1952.
The second prophesy was about my humble self. He said that a young man would emerge from Oosin quarters, who would be powerful, famous and would have a multitude of followers, as well as that his life and works would explain that the human grace is one, notwithstanding different religions, culture and skin pigmentation.

Tell us more about Arigidi…
It is one of the biggest towns at Akokoland in Ondo State and it has a population of over 70,000. The town has two nursery schools, 10 primary schools and three secondary schools. All these serve the different quarters of Agbaluku, Ayase, Ekiteji, Ilepa, Imo, Ita, Iyu, Oguo and Osin. The entire town is ruled by an oba called The Zaki of Arigidi.

So much about your town. You said your birth was predicted. Were there signs that you were the one?
My mother was pregnant in April 1962. After six months, the foetus did not seem to be moving. My mother was taken to a medical doctor and the baby kicked.

That was medical science and not mystery…
Wait now! The response was not permanent, because the child stopped kicking again. Seven, eight and nine months, there was no kicking. A strange man advised my mother to stop visiting medical doctors. The old man recommended prayers and that my mother should move to a different area entirely.
After the 14th month, my mother gave birth to me. The information was conveyed to my father in the farm, who became so happy that he threw away his hoe and cutlass, ran home and named me Temitope (my experience requires gratitude to God).

There have been cases of prolonged pregnancies. But was there anything in particular that was mysterious about your birth or childhood?
Let me narrate one story to you. On the eight day when people gathered for the naming ceremony of this new child, I was sleeping on a mat. Nearby, the Water Corporation contractors were blasting rocks to make way for their pipes. They were using this thing called dynamite. The site of the blasts is the present saint Luke’s Anglican Church, Arigidi.

As the blasts were going on, my mother carried me off the mat and placed me on her lap. No sooner did she do that than a big boulder pierced our roof and landed on the very mat that I slept. And would you doubt the mystery of that also?

Ok, when you were growing up did you display certain extraordinary qualities?
You see, I attended St. Stephens Anglican Primary school, Imo, Arigidi from 1971 to 1976. That time, I lived with an uncle of mine. In the secondary school, I taught my colleagues the Scriptures, although I did not have any Bible training. You can go and find out from one of my teachers, Mrs. Margaret Tolani Adejumo who would attest to my brilliance, ability to lead during school devotions and aura of power that surrounded me. At school, my mates called me “Small Prophet” because of my power to foretell.

How and when did your church start?
I used to bring children together for the word of God. In 1992, the church began because people who came to listen to the word of God were increasing in number.
Thus, the Synagogue Church of All Nations became a church for the rich, poor, the powerful, the powerless.

What do you charge for the different healings?
I am not the healer, but I know the healer. His name is Jesus Christ. If I collect money from you, then I am indirectly telling you that I am your healer. In Mathew chapter 10 verse 8, Jesus says: “freely you receive, freely you should give”.

Did you ever experience what is usually referred to as the baptism of the Holy Ghost?
What a question to ask a man of God of this stature?
I experienced the baptism of the Holy Ghost which changed my life completely. Apart from experiencing peace and joy, I was able to praise God in other languages. I also conducted a service that was characterized by the power of the Holy Spirit.

How come you were accused of using demonic powers?
When I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, I had power in my prayers. I do everything in the power of the Holy Spirit who is a Divine Person, Helper and Comforter.

All these criticism must be a big weight on you…
Whatever happens, I give myself to prayer. When people hate or criticize you in spite of all you do, remembers Christ’s rejection. If Jesus Christ, himself could be ill-treated and called names, (he was even accused of using the power of Belzebub, the King of the devils), who am I, a mere servant, to feel exceptional?

Many people still think that you are a mysterious person…
Nobody really knows you more than you know yourself. The belief of others about you does not really matter in life. Rather, it is what you believe about yourself.

So, how do you cope with attacks, misconceptions and criticisms?
Persecution is a tonic to my anointing. Jesus was slandered and falsely accused. But he believed in Himself, knowing that his accusers were ignorant and proud. He ignored them because he knew the truth. He stayed focused.

Crime / 9-year-old Boy Rescued From “devilish” Celestial Church by gbolakpine(m): 7:58pm On Jul 23, 2016
fter ministers allegedly chained him for weeks supposedly in the name of God, a nine-year-old Nigerian boy has regained freedom.

Ministers at a Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Key of Joy Parish, in Ajibawo area of Ogun State were reportedly trying to “save” the boy from whatever they thought was wrong with him.

The boy was, like an animal, chained up in the church building for weeks during which he endured sad and horrible days inside “Joy” parish.

We know countries where even animals don’t even get this kind of inhuman treatment.

Officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) rescued the nine-year-old identified as Taiwo Korede.

Politics / Niger Delta Avengers Denies Talks With The Federal Government Of Nigeria by gbolakpine(m): 6:32pm On Jul 22, 2016
According to premium times, the president said his government was open to adopting some of the policies put in place by past governments on the amnesty programme as a way of curbing militancy, adding that he understood the plight of the militants.

“We are studying the instruments. We have to secure the environment, otherwise investment will not come,” Mr. Buhari said. “We understand their feelings, we will do our best for the country.”

But in a statement by its spokesman, Mudoch Agbinibo, and published on its website, the Avengers said it was “not aware of any peace talk” with the government.

Mr. Agbinibo said Mr. Buhari’s government had not demonstrated any sign of sincerity to indicate that it was ready to engage the militants.

“President Buhari led government is not sincere to the Nigeria people and their foreign allies,” the group said.

Mr. Agbinibo repeated that only a peace talk brokered by the international community would be acceptable to the Avengers.

“If we are to engage in any peace talk we made it clear that the international community must be part of it. The President knows our demands. So they should stop deceiving the international oil companies, the general public and the international community,” the group said.

Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, said the Avengers’ disclaimer was not necessary as Mr. Buhari did not mention specific groups that were in talks with the government.

“The president did not name names,” Mr. Adesina said.

The Avengers had repeatedly said it welcomed dialogue with the government, but said its terms must be met before such could proceed.

This was after the group had claimed responsibility for devastating attacks on oil installations, forcing major international oil corporations, including Shell, Chevron, Eni Agip and Mobil, to shut down operations and evacuate their workers.

Crime / Male Teacher Arrested For Sucking Male Pupil’s Private Parts In Ogun State by gbolakpine(m): 7:57am On Jul 21, 2016
A private school teacher, Matthew Sodeke, has been arrested for alleged child abuse in Igbala community in the Sango Ota area of the state. The English Language teacher, was caught sucking the private parts of a male pupil.

The teacher was reportedly caught by a parent who had come to pick his child in the school.

PUNCH gathered that the teacher allegedly sexually assaulted the 16-year-old boy, identified
only as Ajala, in one of the offices of the school after closing hours.

On Tuesday, July 12, around 4pm, Sodeke was said to have called the pupil upstairs into one of the offices.

It was learnt that Sodeke allegedly instructed the boy to remove his trousers, after which the teacher allegedly began to suck the boy’s private parts.

A yet-to-be-identified parent, who reportedly came to check her child in the school, was said to have caught the duo and raised the alarm.

The matter was thereafter reported at the Sango Police Division, and Sodeke was arrested.

A parent, identified only as Shokoya, who claimed to be a witness, said the teacher was beaten up by a mob before he was taken to the police station. Shokoya added that the pupil confessed that his private parts had been sucked by the teacher on several occasions.

She said:

“The teacher was caught while molesting the boy after school hours. He could not deny it because he was caught in the act.

“After a parent had raised the alarm, other parents and youths descended on the teacher and beat him to a pulp. He was thereafter handed over to the police at the Sango division.

“The teacher said he was formerly living with his brother, a pastor, who later sent him out when he (the pastor) caught him sucking a neighbour’s private parts.

“When the pupil was also interviewed, he confessed that it was not the first time the teacher would molest him. He said the teacher warned him not to disclose the act to anyone.”

According to PUNCH, Sodeke, who confessed to the crime, had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect had been charged to court.

He said:

“It is a case of indecent assault. The English Language teacher, Sodeke, called the victim to one of the offices and asked him to remove his trousers. He then put Ajala’s private parts in his mouth.

“Based on this report, detectives from the Sango division arrested the culprit and brought him to the station for interrogation. He confessed to the crime. The matter was transferred to the SDCI, Abeokuta, as directed by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Abdulmajid Ali.

“The teacher has been charged to court and remanded in prison custody.”

Politics / 110 Million Nigerians Are Poor, Says VP Osinbajo by gbolakpine(m): 8:09pm On Jul 16, 2016
At an an event hosted by the President of Ghana, Mr. John Mahama, on Africa and Sustainable Development Goals on the sidelines the African Union meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on saturday stated that about 110 million Nigerians were living in poverty and two-tenth of this figure were in extreme poverty.

Excerpts of his speech at the event were made available to journalists by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande.

The Vice-President who is representing President Muhammadu Buhari at the summit said Nigeria and other African nations have to rise up to the urgent need of addressing the problems of poverty and inequality.

He said that was why the present administration initiated what he called the largest social protection programme in the history of the country.

He said, “In Nigeria, in the current budget cycle, we have the largest social protection programme in the history of the country. It’s a N500bn programme-(worth over $2.5bn as at the time budget was signed.)

“Basically, we are looking at lifting many out of poverty, of course many are familiar with the size of the Nigerian state and we have close to hundred and ten million people who are poor and about two-tenth are in extreme poverty.

“So it is a very huge problem and part of what we are trying to do is to look at how not just to empower people but also to ensure that what they are given is sustainable.“For the women, we are doing a programme, micro-credit programme for a million market women and artisans.

“All would be given facilities, training facilities as well to enable them to be able to do some work for themselves and to continue to be able to live.”

Osinbajo explained that the micro-credit loan to women is to make sure that they handle money better and do a much better work on the whole. He explained that in the case of Conditional Cash Transfer, the government is also targeting the women.

He however admitted that the government had difficulty identifying the poor who would benefit from the programmes. He said some international organisations came to the aid of the government.

“In determining who the poorest is, we had problems on that, but we have very good assistance from the World Bank and the Bill Gates Foundation. They helped in trying to map the really poor.

“We had to get inside the communities looking for the poorest of the poor with the small sum of money which is about N5000 (which is roughly about $25 dollars or there about) which is a sum of money that would be given to the poorest every month, which may enable them feed themselves and find something that they may do and on the condition that they send their children to school and participate in immunisation.

“So we are really excited about some of the works we are trying to do around the SDGs and we are hopeful that we’ll be able to get the Social Protection Programme working.

“We just recently appointed a Senior Special Assistant on SDGs. We also have a full SDG Implementation office which is fully equipped and we hope to be able to carry out all of the proposals we made and effect them within the shortest possible time,” he added.

The main summit meeting of the AU holds on Sunday when over 30 African leaders at the level of presidents, vice presidents, and prime ministers are expected, besides foreign minister-level representations

Crime / "We Have Ready Buyers Of Children"- Abductor Confesses by gbolakpine(m): 7:34am On Jul 12, 2016
An unidentified child abductor who was caught at Aka Road, Okokomaiko area of Lagos State who escaped public execution speedily confessed her sins claiming she was part of a 27 woman syndicate from Benin Republic carrying out activities such as abduction and sales of children.
According to reports, she was usually seen behaving like a lunatic on the streets but was later caught right in the act of trying to abduct a child.

According to the her, “we were 27 women that came as a syndicate from Benin Republic. Each woman was given five phones to contact their buyers once the targets, mainly little children, were found. We then discard the phone after transactions to avoid been traced. The abduction is for outright sale, not for a ransom.”

She even claimed they have ready buyers of abducted children.
Since this was not the first time such acts have occurred in the area, Omowunmi Ireti who happened to be a resident in the area lamented by saying, “In the last one year, the trend of women kidnapping children has been on the increase.
“Fortunately, some of the women involved have been caught in recent times and they are always rescued from the mob and whisked away by the police. But the sad thing is that nothing is ever heard of the outcome again. “If the Nigerian Police is a serious outfit, one of such ‘arrests’ is enough lead to get to the root of this syndicate and crack it.”
According to the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, the case had been transferred to state CID, Panti.

Celebrities / Floyd Mayweather Spends $1000 Per Hair Cut, Multiple Times Per Week by gbolakpine(m): 2:31pm On May 16, 2016
This guy sure doesn't show any respect for the Dollar. In a recent chat with Jackie Starr, Mayweather's personal barber by TMZ, she revealed how much the Super Star boxer pays to look handsome. When asked, she said, "It's $1,000 per cut."

Starr said she met Floyd in 2001 but didn't start cutting his hair until 2009,and ever since she has been the only one cutting his hair, both home and abroad.

In her words, she said, "I cut his hair two times a week, three times is pushing it, but then it also depends on the occasion." Adding, "If he's in training I will cut him Monday, Wednesday and Friday."
This amounts to $3k per week and that's a whole lot of money per week especially for a barber.

Business / EFCC Raids Access Bank’s Head Office by gbolakpine(m): 6:47pm On May 06, 2016
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today raided the head office of Access Bank in Victoria Island, Lagos. The anti-graft agency, which has been carrying out investigations on alleged abuse of funds under the last administration, extended its dragnet to the banking sector.

It was said that the Group Managing Director, GMD of Access Bank, Herbert Wiwge, was picked by the operatives and there is every likelihood that he would spend the weekend in detention. It would be recalled that earlier, last week, the commission arrested the Managing Director (MD) of Fidelity Bank Plc, Nnamdi Okonkowo, over an alleged $115 million received from former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke,
The bank was accused of not reporting the transaction to the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) as required by the law, an allegation Fidelity Bank denied. Fidelity subsequently named Balarabe Musa, one of its executive directors, as acting MD.

Two days ago, EFCC officials were at the headquarters of Sterling Bank where they picked the MD, Yemi Adeola, who is currently in their custody.

In the said count one, Osita was found to be in possession of “fake drugs to wit: Rysovin – 500, Buscomac – 10mg, Maloxine, Lumartem, Lofnac – 100.”
The offense runs contrary to Section 1 of the Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Food (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act. CAP C34 LFN 2004 and punishable under Section 3(a) of the same act.
Delivering judgment, Justice Faji sentenced the convict to five years imprisonment which is the minimum custodian sentence for such offense as stipulated in Section 3 of the Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Food (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act. CAP C34 LFN 2004.

Justice Faji held that the fake drugs which lacked the major anti-malaria and anti-bacteria components have serious detrimental effects on persons as well as serious environmental impacts on the society.
He wondered how many Nigerians would have been affected by the action of Osita if he had not be apprehended.
“A graduate of Economics should be looking at ways of growing our economy and not increasing the population of people at the hospitals, mortuaries and cement arises. This is an abuse of the privilege of education,” Justice Faji held.

Politics / House Of Reps Kick Against N390bn Bond To Finance Power Sector by gbolakpine(m): 8:19am On Apr 28, 2016
The House of Representatives, on Wednesday, halted the plans of the federal government to raise a N309 billion bond to finance the shortfalls in the the power sector.

The Federal Ministry of Power/Works and Housing had planned to use the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Company to raise the bond.

The House however, called on the Ministry, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading to halt the move to raise the bond, with immediate effect.
A motion moved to this effect by Rep. Edward Pwajok (Plateau-PDP), was unanimously adopted by members through a voice vote.
Pwajok wondered why the bond was needed in spite of the intervention by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in March 25, 2015, through the grant of a bailout to the tune of N213 billion.

“In spite of that intervention, the shortfall, instead of being wiped out, has continued to escalate at the rate of about N15 billion per month (equivalent to N500 million daily).

“It rose to a total-market shortfall of N400 billion as at Dec. 31, 2015.”

“A continuing incidence of market shortfall is a distinctive action for new investors to venture into the Nigerian electricity market.”

“Market shortfall is a disincentive action for new investors to venture into the Nigerian electricity market, the implication being that the projected generating capacity expansion is an illusion since any increment in generating capacity would further escalate the market shortfall.”

“Also concerned that the Discos, which collect revenues, fail to remit in full to other market participants, without any measures put in place by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission to block the leakages and there are no sanctions/penalties for defaulters.”

“Disturbed that despite there has being no noticeable improvement in the electricity sector, either in the area of generation, transmission or distribution, tariffs have been increased twice since 2013.”

Politics / Troops Ambush Boko Haram Terrorists In Sambisa Forest, Recovers Condoms by gbolakpine(m): 10:31am On Apr 25, 2016
The self-proclaimed Islamist where yesterday, ambushed by troops of 81 Battalion and some elements of 251 Task Force Battalion, 25 Brigade, while escaping from Sambisa forest to Fulawani village...
The ambushed terrorists were trying to link up with other terrorists or members of their families to relocate to other places. It will be recalled that the troops intercepted a group of women and children yesterday who claimed to have escaped from the terrorists enclave in Sambisa forest.

However, during screening and interrogation, it was confirmed that they were the terrorists’ advance party relocating to a new safe haven following intense tactical operations by troops.

The troops sprang a surprise ambush on the group of escaping terrorists from Sambisa forest crossing towards Alagarno mounted on motorcycles and bicycles, killing 5 of them and recovering a number items. These include 5 motorcycles, 9 bicycles, 80 new pairs of bathroom slippers, assorted laundry items, polythene bags and mats. From all indication, the terrorists intended to link up with their wives and children earlier mentioned, who were obviously dispatched to wait for them close to Fulawani for onward movement to other locations.
It is also assessed that the recovered items were for sale in other locations where remnants of the terrorists were hiding but in dire need of logistics. Further investigation also revealed that the terrorists were fleeing Sambisa forest to other areas for safety as they could no longer withstand the continued bombardment by both Nigerian Air Force and the ground troops.

Education / Government Removes Principal, Deputy, Four Teachers For ‘assaulting’ Pupil by gbolakpine(m): 1:33pm On Mar 29, 2016
The Vice-Principal, Mrs Balogun and four teachers were yesterday removed by the government for alleged inhuman treatment of a Junior Secondary Two (JS II) pupil, Principal of Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary School in Bariga, Lagos, Mrs C. O. Coker.
The teachers are Mr Bello (Mathematics), Mrs Tejumaye (English language), Mrs Omoge (Physic Education) and Mr Bakare (Economics).

Their removal followed the investigation into the flogging of the pupil, Ogechi Anyalewechi, on March 16 by the teachers on the principal’s instruction. The 14-year-old pupil got into trouble after slapping back the Head Girl, who reported her to the school, Ogechi was flogged on her bare buttocks following an altercation with the school’s Head Girl. Besides being caned, Ogechi was made to cut grass for over four hours.

Lagos State Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary Mrs Olabisi Ariyo said they were removed because of their complicity in the “assault saga”, adding: They will no longer work in the school from Thursday, March 24 (today)”.

Ogechi suffered body wounds and was taken to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.

When the incident became public, Commissioner for Youth and Social Development Princess Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf directed the Directorate of School Social Services of her ministry to probe it.

A fact-finding team led by a director, which visited the school, on Tuesday, indicted the principal and the teachers.

Yesterday, Oghechi, her parents, the headgirl, the principal and the teachers appeared before a panel chaired by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola. Mrs Ariyo was in attendance.

The head girl, it was learnt, confessed that she slapped Ogechi and apologised for her action.

According to Princess Akinbile-Yussuf, “the Director of the School Social Services on my instruction went to the school to carry out on the spot investigation following which all those involved including the principal, the head girl, Ogechi, her parents and Tutor-General of Education District 2, were on Wednesday March 23 (yesterday), invited before a panel chaired by Muri-Okunola and his education ministry counterpart, Mrs Ariyo was also there.

“The head girl confessed that she slapped Ogechi first and apologised to her for her improper behaviour. It was also confirmed that the principal subsequently instructed some teachers to give Ogechi about 12 strokes of the cane on her backside. The principal and teachers have since been removed and will now report at the Education District 2, while the assault victim and the erring head girl were appropriately counselled by the School Social Services Directorate on the proper way to conduct themselves in school.”

She added: “We have also instructed that the victim (Ogechi) should not be harassed or molested as she returns to the school to continue her studies and her parents were happy at the outcome of the intervention.

“However, the ministry shall henceforth step up the school social services to educate both students and teachers on the best conduct in school environment across all public schools in Lagos State.”

The Lagos State Government has launched an investigation into the assault of a school student at the Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary School in the Bariga area of the state. The 14-year-old pupil of the school, Ogechi Anyalewechi, was hospitalised after being flogged by the principal of the school and over five other teachers Took turns on her.

The victim was said to have been punished after a prefect of the school, identified only as Zainab, complained to the principal that Ogechi returned a slap she gave her for “being rude”. A teacher of the school, identified as Mr. Bello, was alleged to have told her to removed her tight (drawers) and flogged her on the buttocks.

Ogechi said,

“Last Wednesday, I got to school around 8am. I was asked to take some chairs from a class to a hall where a programme for principals and school teachers would hold later in the day. “The prefect challenged me for not participating, but I explained that I was waiting for my turn to carry the chairs.“She said I was rude to her and ordered me to kneel down. I refused and told her I was sick. She said if I didn’t obey her, she would slap me. I said I didn’t do anything wrong and she couldn’t slap me. She said if I repeated that she would do it, and I repeated it. “She slapped me and out of annoyance, I returned the slap. She then went to report to the principal.”

It was learnt that the principal, identified as Mrs. Coker, summoned Ogechi and ordered her to kneel down.
The victim alleged that after the principal slapped her four times, other teachers present took turns to assault her as well.

“They called the prefect and asked her to slap me in their presence and she did that four times. A teacher, Mr. Balogun, ordered me to remove my tight and he flogged me on the buttocks. “After this, I was asked to sit for my exam in the vice principal’s office. When I was done, the principal gave the VP a letter, saying I should be made to cut some grass afterwards.”

It was gathered that although school closed officially at 3pm, the 14-year-old did not return home till 5pm.

Ogechi said,

“I could not sleep at night. I was in pain and had to lie down on my stomach.” Her mother, Mrs. Esther Anyalewechi, said she reported the matter at the Bariga Police Station, adding that she was disappointed with the reaction of the principal. “She said my child would not become somebody in the future. I asked if she were a mother, would she allow anybody to treat her child that way. All I wanted was just an apology for the assault which landed my daughter in the hospital, but she refused,” she added.

The principal and vice principal of the school later went to the station. A police source at the station explained that a group of seven soldiers, led by a brigadier, who claimed to be the husband of the principal, stormed the station.
Photo shows teenage girl brutally beating by her Principal and various punishment were meted out to her by her teachers at school as well. The 14 year-old, Ogechi Blessing and a SS2 Pupil of Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary School at Bariga in Lagos State. This incident occurred on the 16th of March 2016. The perpetrators of this crime are. Photos after the cut.

I am writing to report the physical and emotional abuse to a girl child as a result of punishment meted out to her by her teachers at school .

She was made to strip off her shorts and canned on her bare buttocks and slapped severely by the principal and 5 other teachers because she returned the slap on her face from the head girl who slapped her first. The head girl then reported to the school authorities who in turn physically battered her and then made her cut grass for 4 hours under the sun.

Her name is Ogechi Blessing, she is 14 years old and a SS2 Pupil of Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary School at Bariga in Lagos State. This incident occurred on the 16th of March 2016. The perpetrators of this crime are

a. Mrs. C. O Coker (School Principal)
b. Mr. Bello (Maths Teacher)
c. Mr. Bakare (Economics Teacher)
d. Mrs. Tejumaye (English Teacher)
e. Mrs Omoge (Civic Education Teacher)
f. Mrs. Balogun (Vice Principal)

The Principal has refused to honor the request from the police officers at Bariga Police Station but instead brought soldiers to intimidate the officers investigating the case.

She has missed out on writing 4 exams since then.
Justice needs to be done for this inhumane act against the girl child.

Romance / 10 Reasons Why Guys Are Attracted To Breasts by gbolakpine(m): 4:49pm On Mar 11, 2016
Though the preference for guys vary according to size, there is no doubt that guys love breasts. No wonder ladies catch them staring at their chest instead of the face most of the time. This is the reason why ladies are so concerned about the appearance and size of their breasts. They don't want to feel unattractive and breasts are a major part of the attraction package. So, why are guys so much into breasts? Here are 10 probable reasons why.
1. Breasts Are Great to Look At
Men love looking at the breasts for the very reason that they are great to look at. Whether they are small or big, breasts are one of the first things a man sees in a woman. Though it is offensive, but men can’t resist taking a peek!

2. Breasts Add Grace and Poise
Breasts are one of the few body parts which are curvaceous. Men don’t have any curves on their bodies, which makes being hard and straight a sign of masculinity. On the other hand, curviness is a symbol for womanhood which adds grace and poise to the way they carry themselves.

3. Breasts Represent Fertility
Since a long time back, it has been believed that men are attracted to women who are healthy and are able to reproduce. Breasts are a sign of fertility as they portray the notion that the woman would be able to bear children as well as nourish them.

4. Breasts Offer Visual Stimulation
One of the main differences between men and women is that men are stimulated visually. They get 'turned on' just by looking at a woman's body. Firm and perky breasts catch the attention of every male wherever a woman goes and stimulates them visually.

5. Breasts Are the Key to Second Base
Most men don’t know about this but those who do use it to their advantage. The breasts are the key to second base as they are located close to the libido. handling and playing with them leads to sexual arousal. This is one of the major reasons why men love breasts!

6. Breasts Lead to Great pre-intimacy
Breasts are a crucial part of pre-intimacy. In fact, pre-intimacy is incomplete without a little handling, sucking or kissing on the breasts. Apart from the breasts, there is little else a man could play with before the actual act.

7. Breasts Are Nice to Touch
Men love how the breasts feel in their hands. While some of them can get wild and start twitching the nipples, most men are gentle with breasts, holding them with love and care. They are soft and supple, tempting men to grab them.

8. Breasts Are Mysterious
From the moment a guy sees a girl her breasts become a source of mystery for him. He spends most of his time thinking about and visualizing what hides beneath the clothing. Until he gets to actually see them, the mystery is a cause of intrigue for him.

9. No Cleavage without Breasts
The cleavage is perhaps the best sight a man could want to see. Low-cut tops or dresses that show a little too much at the top are highly attractive for males. Without breasts, there would be no cleavage, so men love the whole package.

10. Breasts Are Comforting
For some reason, men find breasts comforting. They love resting their heads on them. The very sight of them can make their bad mood disappear. In fact, there has been a study which shows that men who get to see breasts for at least 15 minutes a day live longer and healthier!

Crime / Trader Arrested For handling A Female Customer's Breast by gbolakpine(m): 4:37pm On Mar 11, 2016
A 45-year-old trader, Sunny Onugu, couldn't control his urge to touch a boob and has been charged before a Kado Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, on a two-count charge of gross indecency and assault after being reported for handling his customer's breasts without her consent.
The police prosecutor in the case, Salisu Khaleel, told the court that one Adeyemi Rafiu had reported that the defendant had touched her breast when she went to his shop to purchase an item, an action she did not find funny.

Khaleel said that Onugu, a resident of Plot 26, Dan-Suleiman Street, Utako, in the FCT, touched Rafiu on the breast without her consent while she was paying for a candle she bought at his shop and that when the woman protested over the assault, accused defendant allegedly slapped her on the face.
Khaleel said the offences contravened Sections 285 and 265 of the Penal Code.
When the charges were read to him, Onugu, pleaded not guilty and the judge, Malam Abubakar Sadiq, granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Politics / Ebonyi Commissioners Are “lazy, Incompetent”, Says Speaker by gbolakpine(m): 6:17pm On Mar 08, 2016
The Speaker Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Francis Nwifuru, on Tuesday dropped a bomb shell by accusing some commissioners in the state of incompetence and non-performance, saying they have failed despite huge resources the state government has invested in their ministries.
Mr. Nwifuru spoke during a plenary session of the house after some committee chairmen presented interim reports of their oversight functions.
The speaker also accused lawmakers of laziness and un-seriousness in their oversight function of the ministries.
He expressed dismay over the attitude exhibited by some commissioners who he accused off lacking the political will and the knowledge to pilot the affairs of their ministries.
“It is unfortunate that the set of Commissioners we have now under this present government have exhibited high level of incompetence.

“In the Ministry, you the lawmakers are the Chairmen. The commissioner is like your secretary and that’s why if you invite them, they will come and explain to you what they are doing because you appropriate the fund they are using”.
“You need to check mate and oversea what they are doing and to make sure they are doing it in a proper way. We can’t fold our hands and say government is doing well. I only see the Ministries of Works and Power as the only ministries that are doing well.
“Apart from these two ministries earlier mentioned, other ministries and their commissioners are not performing. But the House members are also not performing because they are not doing anything. Nobody is serious, nobody is issuing query, we need to investigate them. There is the need for the House of Assembly to properly investigate the commissioners.
“We need to investigate their activities and make sure that all of them are performing their duties and if they are not performing, we recommend (for) their sack,” the speaker said.
The Speaker said henceforth, the House Committees would embark on a comprehensive supervision of the ministries.
“As chairmen of different committees, you need to visit the ministries and anyone found to be incompetent, you should recommend (for) his sack.
“We must do our job and not allow commissioners in the state tarnish the image of the state government. Not when the Governor is trying to put things on ground, we will not compliment his efforts.
“As you embark on oversight function find out how much the state government has so far appropriated to the ministries because I’m aware that the state governor has appropriated huge sums of money to them”.
“The Commissioners will tell you stories from now till tomorrow but they are doing nothing . We must get to know what is happening because Ebonyi people are tired of stories, what they need is action.”
Mr. Nwifuru said the House would go all out to investigate any commissioner that engages in fraudulent activities and ensure they are brought to book.

Politics / Our Country Has The Fastest Growing Economy In Africa & The World - Buhari by gbolakpine(m): 1:21pm On Feb 19, 2016
President Buhari says Nigeria presently has the fastest growing economy in Africa and the world. Buhari said this at the public presentation of a book, ‘Nigerian Century’ written by Dare Babarinsa at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, yesterday February 18th.
His speech which was read by former governor of Ekiti State and deputy chairman of All Progressives Congress in the South, Segun Oni who represented him at the occasion contained in following...

"Yes, our land is blessed by providence with riches in oil and gas, iron ore, gold, limestone and almost all the minerals of this earth. Our soil can grow almost any crop and our vegetation supports animal life as varied as creation can manifest. Our rivers and coast lines are rich with fishes and various kinds of life. Yet, despite these bounties from nature, I have no doubt that the greatest blessings of Nigeria are the people of Nigeria, the wonderful people that give expression to the grandeur and majesty of our beloved country. Today, our country has the fastest growing economy in Africa and one of the fastest in the world. Our dominance is not so much because of our wealth, but because of the tremendous energy and resourcefulness of our people. How many countries of the world can parade the likes of Professor Wole Soyinka, Jay Jay Okocha, King Sunny Ade and Alhaji Aliko Dangote literally under the same roof?”he said
