Two men were reportedly caught hugging each other and celebrating the bomb blast at a Mosque in Maiduguri, Borno. The suicide bombing, which happened around 5am, on Friday morning has so far, claimed 28 lives. Umar Sani, a civilian vigilante and local resident Musa Sheriff, both revealed to AFP, details of the blast. Sani said: “People from various mosques nearby rushed to the scene to assist the victims. “I was involved in the evacuation. We counted 28 dead bodies apart from the two bombers, who were identifiable by the mutilation of their bodies. Over 20 other people were injured.” Furthermore, Sani stated that shortly after the bomb went off, two men were seen hugging themselves and celebrating the attack. He added that they were apprehended and handed to the police. “The two men were standing from afar, hugging each other like a celebration, chanting Allahu Akbar”(God is greatest). The rescuers apprehended them. They used ropes to tie them and they confirmed that two of their comrades carried out the attacks. They were unrepentant.” http://www.kongegist.com/2015/10/busted-2-men-caught-celebrating.html |

VIce President Yemi Osinbajo left Abuja Wednesday to particpate in the launching of the Energy Africa Campaign in London at an event holding Thursday, October 22. He will be signing a commitment on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria to partner with the United Kingdom government on the Campaign. The Nigeria-UK partnership intends to bring solar power to millions of homes in Nigeria, using the model of installation and payment that has worked effectively in Kenya and Tanzania. Originally an initiative of the UK government, the partnership involves the governments of Nigeria and other African nations in an effort to shorten the time required for universal electricity delivery, specifically in a continent where two out of every three persons do not have electricity in their homes. Mr. Osinbajo will speak at the event alongside the UK Minister of State for International Development, Grant Shapps; former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and other leaders from Africa. The Vice President, who will return to Abuja by the weekend, is accompanied on the trip by Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and Deputy Chief of Staff in the presidency, Ade Ipaye. http://www.kongegist.com/2015/10/osinbajo-to-sign-nigeria-uk-solar.html

I would like you to note that, there is more to this ideas you are about to learn as they are not explained in detail. If you want to start on any of the following, I would recommend you read extensively about them for better understanding. But in the mean time, below are some very lucrative businesses you can start online and make money for yourself. #1: Online Classes/Teaching: If there is a skill, or know-how, or special training you have, you can setup a website using simple tools and or WordPress learning management theme or plugins and offer such classes for sale. I see this as a very lucrative online business strategy. #2: E commerce Store: These days’ people are looking towards the internet for their shopping activities. It’s up to you to tap into this opportunity by simply setting up an online store targeting a particular demography or product, as it may be very difficult for you to build a mega store to compete with the big players if you are not heavily funded. #3: Mini Importation Business: Yes, you’ve probably seen many people talking about this all over the internet. You can actually stay in the comfort your home, buy some stuff from some stores overseas and have it delivered to you while you resell with a very high markup. You can by e books explaining this business strategy or you approach people who are into this venture to learn more. #4: Web Hosting Reseller-ship: This is a very lucrative online business model but you need to come up with smart ways to survive in it because the competition is fierce. A good way you can run the web hosting business is to target a market segment, just like WP-Engine is targeting WordPress users. There are several resources you can find online to learn more about this business. #5: Freelance Writing/Content Creation and Marketing: If you can write, or if you can learn how to write… OK, better put, anyone can learn how to write… You can really make money writing online. Many websites are out there willing to pay you to write for them. Just carry out your own research and keep learning. #6: Freelancing your skills. You can freelance your skills on freelance websites and make money. Though this is getting more competitive these days, it’s actually worth it. Many people are earning 6-7 figures monthly on these freelance sites. Whatever you can do, there are places on the web you can sell the skill/service for a fee. Be it logo design, graphic design, anyone. Websites like Gigbucks and Fiverr could be very helpful to you. #7: Self- Publishing Your Own Books on Amazon This is a very easy business and very profitable. These days you don’t even need to strive to write the book. You can buy some PLR books for very cheap amounts and re-write it and viola; you’ve got a breakthrough book you can boldly say you wrote. You can do this and publish it on Amazon, Fiverr, OLX and other websites #8: Become an Apps Developer Even Without Learning Code People are willing to pay good money for ways to manage their lives from their smart phones. If you have a great idea and happen to know coding, you can run with it and create your app yourself. But if you just have an idea, there are plenty of software developers looking to collaborate with people on app creation. An online course on Udemy on app creation could get you started in a few hours from now, even as a newbie. #9: Affiliate Marketing Affiliate marketing is easy and also difficult. It’s easy because you can start without a single dime. It’s difficult because that’s probably where you have the worse kinds of deceit, information overload and fake gurus. It is another easy way to make money from home by promoting someone else products and services on social media platforms or portals or through your own blog and earn huge commissions in return. Most of the top brands usually pay between 10% -30% commissions to their affiliates. #10: Review Sites A review site generally reviews the new products and goods of some top companies and gets rewarded a fixed return. It is not compulsory whether you write about its qualities or not, all you need to do is to write a good and true review. SponseredReviews is currently one of the top networks where you can opt to write reviews for companies. #11: Website Design Some years back designing and developing websites was considered something difficult but nowadays even it has become very easy to own your own website design company. All you need is some sort of designing skills by learning Adobe Dreamweaver or Microsoft Impressions. Web designers who want to start an Internet business have an edge - they can showcase what they can do right on their own website. #12: Desktop Publishing Mastering software, meeting deadlines, and making yourself known are the keys to launching a desktop publishing home business. A desktop publisher who provides services online has a much broader market to work with. Additionally, working this business online allows you to show prospects samples of your work and to publish testimonials from your satisfied clients. You can simply choose to specialize on providing specific services or offering services to specific markets according to your interests. And, some of the ordering and delivery tasks can be handled directly through your website. #13: Blogging Yes, am sure you must have heard or seen on so many other blogs or websites that Blogging is not a get rich quick kind of business. But it’s the smartest way to build a community of people who will help you to get rich at the long run. This I must say is nothing else but the truth, it is just a matter of being patient, consistent, honest and also working towards adding value to lives through you postings. A point to note is that you need a strong fan follower and good amount of traffic before you actually make money into your pockets which actually is not that difficult if you do it properly. You can set up your own blog for free using Blogger or WordPress platforms after which you can now start posting ‘relevant’ articles. With your personal blog, you can transact all the businesses mentioned above and make your money. Note that the internet is always available to learn everything you need to know about the above online business at your own convenient time... Also you can check www.wealthstore..com to learn about some other opportunities to earn reasonable cash online. To Your success |

Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett has come under fire in the Madrid press after his comments about Cristiano Ronaldo. Barnett, who famously represented Ashley Cole during the 'tapping-up' scandal, has provoked the ire of those in Spain by referring to Ronaldo as "an underwear seller" and suggesting Bale would be the best footballer in the world when the Portuguese left Real Madrid . Tomás Roncero, a leading columnist in Spanish sports daily AS , has taken particular exception to Barnett's comments in his piece on Tuesday morning. "To say anything about Cristiano is inadmissible," said Roncero. "It demonstrates that Bale has an infantile jealousy towards the Portuguese. "It's absurd to even compare him to [Ronaldo]. A quarter of Cristiano is better than Bale," Roncero sneered. It is not the first time Barnett has riled those in Madrid. Last season he came out to defend criticisms of his client by claiming that his teammates weren't passing to him . He backed it up with statistics, but still caused a row with then-manager Carlo Ancelotti over the Welshman's role. "It coincided with the disastrous Champions League elimination to Juve, in which Bale was the player that disappointed the most. "Ancelotti was right to hit back at [Barnett]." http://www.kongegist.com/2015/10/jealous-gareth-bale-is-not-even-as-good.html |

In an interview with Encomium Weekly, Seyi Shay said nudity is not tasteful. “I’ve never been nude in any of my videos, I’ve just been trendy…I don’t stand for it, I don’t think it’s tasteful. But I do think that everybody has a right to their own creative expression. I’m not going to be nude in my videos, I promise” she said. She also added that nudity can be corrected if the trend setters encourage people to cover up. “I actually think that we can correct it in the industry generally if the trend setters and influential people start buying into the idea of people being covered up. We as Nigerians we are very hypocritical, nobody’s talking about what these men and women do behind closed doors, in settings where there are no cameras. We just scrutinize and criticize people who are just working, making their money." “We can change the whole view on TV and it would still be cool. I’m not hypocritical, what happens behind closed doors? I could cover up and all my peers could do the same, but it still won’t change what happens when there are no cameras” she said. http://www.kongegist.com/2015/10/nudity-is-not-tasteful-and-can-be.html

Breast cancer is the most prevalent form of the disease plaguing women across both the developing and developed world It is estimated around 508,000 women die each year from the disease, according to the World Health Organisation. While for many women hearing the diagnosis will come as a devastating blow, more and more people are surviving the disease. To mark Breast Cancer Awareness month, Dr Laura Esserman from the UC San Francisco reveals five things every woman should know about the disease Dr Esserman is gearing up to embark on a five-year study that will tap into technology to improve breast cancer screening, and ultimately patient outcomes. She leads the Athena Breast Health Network, a collaboration between the five University of California medical centers, and partners, that will soon be launching the WISDOM study. The research aims to investigate whether a personalised approach to breast cancer screening is as safe and effective as annual mammograms. Breast cancer is the most common kind of cancer among American women, except for skin cancer, and the second leading cause of cancer death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer. But emerging knowledge offers reason for optimism. Here are five things women should know about breast cancer, according to Dr Esserman.... BREAST CANCER IS MANY DISEASES Breast cancer is, in fact, many diseases. Some can be indolent (unlikely to cause patients harm) and some can be very aggressive. We don't want to treat them the same. Two people might walk into my office, both age 50, have the same size tumor, but it might be appropriate to have different treatments. A patient may have a condition that doesn't make radiation possible. You have to make sure patients understand all of their options and are comfortable with their decisions because there's more than one choice. NOT ALL BREAST CANCER IS LIFE-THREATENING More than one in five new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in U.S. women are ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS or 'stage zero' cancer), according to the American Cancer Society. While this often is treated aggressively, evidence suggests that may be unnecessary for some patients. Low-grade DCIS, I think, should not be called cancer at all. These conditions can be watched and not treated as aggressively. One size does not fit all. We've got lots of data. It's time to take what we've learned and change practice. We can continue to refine screening so low-grade DCIS doesn't have to be a target for screening. It's not just about finding every abnormality in the breast; it's about finding people at high risk, finding consequential cancers and changing outcomes with interventions early on.' SCREENING WON'T BENEFIT EVERY WOMAN The annual mammogram recommendation is based on 30-year-old evidence. It's high time to have a modern trial where we try to figure out who is at risk for different types of breast cancer. That's what the WISDOM study is all about: Set up a framework where we can learn much more quickly. We are going to test what many people still consider to be the gold standard - one mammogram a year for women 40 and over. We're working with a next-generation sequencing company, Color Genomics. We're trying to define from the genetics side what influences risk and then we're going to test it to see if it improves screening. We'll integrate the data on a Salesforce platform. We're going to generate a risk for women and that will trigger when to start screening, when to stop screening and how often to screen. Over time we'll learn who is at risk for breast cancer and who is at risk for different interventions. If this works, this could be a good paradigm to approach any disease. CONSIDER TAKING PART IN A CLINICAL TRIAL Improvements in clinical care depend on scientific research. Currently only three to five per cent of women participate in clinical trials. The goal is to get consideration of clinical trials to be the norm rather than the exception. Dr Esserman said the annual mammogram recommendation is based on 30-year evidence, but she argues more modern research is needed to determine if all women benefit from a yearly check up We're trying to recruit 100,000 women for the WISDOM study. We're asking women to share their stories and their wisdom. The only way to know better is to study the alternatives. In screening, the only way to know better is to be part of the WISDOM study. We're asking providers to be open. We hope at the end of this trial, we'll have a better model for risk assessment. We're asking payers and insurers to step up to the plate and implement coverage for risk-based screening, just as they currently do for annual screening. UC Health is supporting this program for all the people who get benefits from UC Care. Blue Shield has stepped up, too. We're in conversation with a number of companies and insurers to participate as well. PRECISION MEDICINE IS SHOWING PROMISE The essence of precision medicine is being able to tailor treatment to biology, patient preference and clinical performance. The WISDOM study is precision screening. We want to be smarter. We want to do it just right. It's 'Moneyball' for medicine. The story of the Oakland A's is how people discovered that statistics tell a story that can actually affect strategies and improve outcomes. Think about the data on every player that you have at your fingertips – data that can help to make better decisions. We need that same kind of data at our fingertips in medicine, so that we can keep improving the field. That's what our partnership with Salesforce is all about: How do we take advantage of technology to make medicine better? This is not a study that any one institution could accomplish on its own. UC is really interested in population health, and we have the power to collect and address these big issues that matter to the public. I think that we're going to find this is a much more efficient way to screen. It will help us figure out how best to prevent breast cancer. http://www.kongegist.com/2015/10/five-things-you-should-know-about.html |
The Ekiti State governor,Ayodele Fayose yesterday said that Nigeria’s development does not at all measure up with the Country’s 55years of independence. In a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the Governor called for the strengthening of core-values for the country to take its pride of place among its peers said. “But today calls for sober reflection, going by events in and around us. The situation has never been this bad in the country and there is nothing to celebrate. “Our country is growing in age as an independent country, but there is no corresponding growth in values. Those who are supposed to help propel those core values are muzzling the opposition and the imaginary enemies. The current leadership in the country should have the courage to probe all the leaderships of the past. There should be no sacred cow if truly they have anything to offer. “The mismanagement of yesteryears, especially since we started the Fourth Republic, should be probed. It will not augur well for our nation if we are selective in the dispensation of justice. Leaders must be equitable and fair to all. Everybody must be diligent in playing our parts. The current civilian dispensation in the country must be supported and allowed to thrive”, he said. Fayose equally requested the Federal Government to address the dwindling economy and stop selective fight against corruption and the harassment of the opposition, stressing that, “If President Muhammadu Buhari believes in democracy, he will be judged in the way he handles Kogi and Bayelsa governorship polls.” Fayose also showered encomiums on former President, Goodluck Jonathan for the manner he handled the last general elections, stressing that “Former President, Goodluck Jonathan played his role and posterity will have a good place for him in history. He anchored free, credible and fair polls that heralded the current leadership in the country. President Jonathan should be declared the hero of our democracy and a man of honour.” http://www.kongegist.com/2015/10/nigerias-development-does-not-measure.html |

The Federal Government on Monday insisted that despite the isolated violence being witnessed in some parts of the country, Nigeria is winning the war against the Boko Haram sect. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Aliyu Ismaila, said this in an interview with journalists on the sideline of the ongoing 70th United Nations General Assembly holding in New York. Ismaila said the nation’s security agencies were battle ready more than ever before to end insurgency in the country within the deadline given to them by President Muhammadu Buhari. “We are winning the war. We have put machinery in place to meet the presidential deadline handed over to us and we are sure that the nation’s security agencies are up to the task,” he said. Ismaila also expressed the conviction that Buhari’s participation in the UNGA would also attract benefits to the country. He said, “The President is attending the UN General Assembly for the first time and he had created a great impact on issues concerning security, trade and investment as well as climate change. ADVERTISEMENT “Nigeria is doing very well and we are very proud that we have a President who is very focused and who world leaders have tremendous confidence in.” Ismaila also faulted the criticisms that have trailed Buhari’s absence at a meeting on Friday on the Boko Haram sect and internally displaced persons. The permanent secretary insisted that the meeting was not in the President’s schedule. He said if the country was aware of the parley, there was no way the President or his officials would not have attended, especially with the importance attached to the terrorism war. He added, “It is most unfortunate that people just say whatever they feel like saying. “Before we left Nigeria, there were meetings that were penciled down for the President to attend. “On arrival here, these meetings were reviewed and some others were added. “To the best of my knowledge, that meeting on Boko Haram was never included in the agenda. “Nigeria is one country that is addressing this issue of Boko Haram. It is very important to the country and if it was included in the agenda, the President or his officials would have attended.” http://www.kongegist.com/2015/09/fg-insists-we-are-winning-war-against.html |
