Education / Unbelievable! SS3 Boy Impregnates His Own Mother With Love Portion by gbolakpine(m): 10:56am On Sep 29, 2014
A 19-year-old Abel recently promoted to SS3 in one of the secondary schools in Asaba, Delta State has allegedly put his mother in the family way after he had a carnal knowledge with her few months ago. Reports said that the boy, popularly called Ekenem, was said to have consulted a native doctor, who allegedly prepared a love charm for him to use on his mother and one of the matrons in the college where he is a boarding student.

Although sources said the act committed by the boy still remains a misery to those in the know, but the father of the boy, a Port Harcourt based businessman was said to have reported the matter to the police. DSP Celestina Kalu, police public relations officer in the state, who confirmed the report, disclosed that the boy has been arrested over threat to life and other related acts, adding that the police were still investigating the circumstances of the pregnancy.

As it were, it was reliably gathered that the husband of the woman has been away for some time outside his Port Harcourt operational base, saying that he was not in anyway responsible for the pregnancy upon interrogation.

But the victim, the suspect’s mother while speaking to journalists said, “I did not know how it all happened, but all I can say is that a young man who looked like my son suddenly found his way into my room at wee hours and I was speechless”, adding that the whole exercise had remained inexplicable.

Expectedly, when it was discovered that it was not the husband who was responsible for the pregnancy, the doctor who carried out the pregnancy test on her but did not want his name on the print said, “upon completion of the pregnancy test, the suspect confided in him of the love charm that was used on the mother”.

Speaking at the police headquarters to journalists, the suspect said, “I am deeply sorry for all that has happened, I did not mean to do this. I saw myself falling in love with her after the love charm prepared for me. I have to confess because I know by so doing, God will touch her mind and I know she will forgive me. I suddenly found that I was making love to mum when I thought the charm will not work, and upon the revelation I threatened to kill her and the matter was reported to the police”, he said.

Education / Gunmen Attack ESUT As 3 Students Were Hit By Gun Shots by gbolakpine(m): 11:44am On Sep 28, 2014
Three students of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Agbani are on danger list of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH).
They were Friday night shot and wounded by suspected armed bandits who invaded their hostel.

The affected students are currently undergoing intensive surgery at the hospital where they were rushed in the early hours of Saturday.

One of the students was shot in the stomach and it was suspected that some pellets of the bullet were lodged in his abdomen for which doctors are battling to remove.
The two other victims were also undergoing surgery at the hospital while efforts were being made to contact their parents.

The Unique Hostel where the incident occurred and other hostels within the Agbani Permanent site of the university, according to sources, have been placed under security watch as it was suspected that the gunmen could be members of a secret cult.

To forestall a reprisal attack, the source said, the management had taken measures to beef up security at the hostels with plain-clothe policemen deployed to strategic locations.
Police spokesman, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the armed attack said that preliminary investigations revealed that the gunmen could be “student robbers”, assuring that the police would do everything possible to get to the root of the matter.

He could not say if any arrest had been made but he said that the command was already on top of the situation and would give further details after the ongoing investigations.
“From what we gathered when the gunmen attacked some students at the ESUT Unique Lodge, which is mainly Boys Hostel, there was a stiff resistance by the students who succeeded in arresting one of the gunmen.

The arrested gunman alerted his armed colleagues who returned to the hostel and began shooting indiscriminately during which three of the students were shot and wounded,” the police spokesman said.

Politics / “Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish” by gbolakpine(m): 7:25pm On Sep 20, 2014
A functioning, robust democracy requires a healthy educated, participatory followership, and an educated, morally grounded leadership.--Chinua Achebe

Just when I thought our politicians could not sink any lower, they then go and show that there are depths lower than low they can easily crawl out of. Last week, my British colleague alerted my attention to a sickening report about Nigeria covered by the BBC and the Washington Post. It seemed that Goodluck’s sycophants had unfurl banners round Abuja, using similar hashtag campaign of the missing Chibok girls. They, in their absolute stupidity and arrogance flew the flag for Jona’s 2015 campaign. Only they could have thought it was right to capitalise on other peoples’ tragedy.

I am sure they did not see the harm in what they did, they simply thought that there was an opportunity to link the Chibok girls hash tag to Jonathan’s ambitious re-election bid. They must have thought what a stroke of genius that they had come up with it. How they must have thought that people will recognise the hash tag similarity and of course, people will applaud them and it will be a success! I don’t know about you, but in a country of very clever people, why do we often act dumb, crass and uncouth? Where have we left our pride and honour? What have we traded for the loss of our moral compass and what are we saying to our young. We are quick to shot down people who speak out and question our collective morality and integrity. We have thrown out respect and replace it for those that shout the loudest and offer nothing but chaos and confusion. We have lost our humanity and compassion.

This time, they have gone beyond the pale of decency and they have the temerity to explain it away that the top huncho knows nothing about it and that makes it all right? No, it does not make it right; in fact there lies the problem with these arrogant and power drunk hunchos. The floor is strewn with litany of excuses and they wish it away and we consign it to back with the other big white lies and mediocrities.

I mean, the fact no one amongst the so-called media savvy lackeys would have thought that #BringBackJonathan2015, is simply puerile. The international press did register their horror and disappointment that such campaign to bring back the girls can be tainted and abused at a higher level to exploit the situation.

It seems that the mad (politicians) are running the asylum(Nigeria) how obscene to gather that the press office to the president was not aware and meanwhile, many of this banners were flying in prominent places in the capital and women at their rallies had hundreds of this said hash tag embossed across their T-shirts? What do you say when the blind seems to be leading the clueless? They say, that those gods want to destroy, they first make mad. We are witnessing a runway train and they cannot stop it because they are in too deep. We are watching how this train will hit the buffers with all these supercilious idiots on it.

So to my delight it was a relief and with pride to read that Wole Soyinka took pen to paper to register his disgust in an open letter. The man of letters covered the mood of right thinking Nigerians. Is there no respect for the family of the missing girls and for the worldwide concerns for their return? The open letter covered what is wrong with Nigerians today and more. Soyinka is brave, erudite and conscientious as always. He called it as he sees it when he said that; “The dancing obscenity of Shekau and his gang of psychopaths and child abductors, taunting the world, mocking the BRING BACK OUR GIRLS campaign on internet, finally met its match in Nigeria to inaugurate the week of September 11 – most appropriately.

That banner read: "BRING BACK JONATHAN 2015″ Of course, there are many in their ivory towers who readily dismissed what this esteem elder has said. I remember what another esteem sage Chinua Achebe, had said; “When old people speak it is not because of the sweetness of words in our mouths; it is because we see something which you do not see.”
They obviously have no respect as they are filled with own self-importance and arrogance, they dismiss the achievements and contributions that the likes of Achebe and Soyinka made to our country and in one quick swoop, they become belligerent and they will time rue the day.

Despite the protestations of not knowing by the Jonas camp, it is plain to see that if it smells like a duck, looks like a duck, then it is a duck! No way can we continue to live on a diet of lies that are spewed and scattered as the gospel. Nigerians have got to have the courage to believe the truth and develop some moral back bone. We can no longer feel it is safe to stick our necks further down the sand and rather than face the facts; Nigerians have got a serious problem and it is about time we faced the facts and see what we can do as a collective.

There are immoral and avaricious individuals who are doing everything that they can to siphon more of our common wealth for their own gluttonous agenda. They are so desperate to hold on to the vestiges of power and are ready to try all dastardly means to do so.
It is absolute disgrace, there is no redeeming features in these desperados even if they attempt to dazzle us with their cloth of respectability. This simply will not wash. Like elder Soyinka sad;” the damage has been done, the rot in a nation’s collective soul bared to the world. The very possibility of such a desecration took the Nigerian nation several notches down in human regard. It confirmed the very worst of what external observers have concluded and despaired of – a culture of civic callousness, a coarsening of sensibilities and, a general human disregard. It affirmed the acceptance, even domination of lurid practices where children are often victims of unconscionable abuses including ritual sacrifices, sexual enslavement, and worse. Spurred by electoral desperation, a bunch of self-seeking morons and sycophants chose to plumb the abyss of self-degradation and drag the nation down to their level. It took us to a hitherto unprecedented low in ethical degeneration”

He was acerbic and funny to suggest that perhaps if they must, they could bring back some essentials like “electricity and other elusive items like security, the rule of law, etc.
The list is interminable. And funny “The nature of what is being brought back is thus what raises the disquieting questions. It is time to ask the question: if Ebola were to be eradicated tomorrow, would this government attempt to bring it back?”
No one could have put it better. What do we say to our young, where do we stand on the side of history? Should we all be tarred with same odious brush?” Most of us love a life of delusion, escapism, grandiosity and denial for so long.

Politics / Prophet TB Joshua Sends Sierra Leone 4000 Bottles Of ‘holy Water And $100,000 by gbolakpine(m): 1:55pm On Aug 10, 2014
To support some Ebola-stricken countries, founder of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), Temitope Joshua, announced that the Sierra Leonean government were sent 4000 bottles of his ‘anointing water’ to spiritually fortify the country in their fight against the deadly disease.

Prophet Joshua also announced that a private jet hired at $50,000 to convey the spiritual items to the country yesterday.

He also added that an extra $50,000 was given to victims of the disease which were donated by the prophet and his 'Emmanuel TV Partners'.
Before ministering to foreign visitors at his 'prayer line' service, Joshua then gave a stern warning to Nigeria about the way the Ebola crisis was being handled.

"Ebola is not Nigeria's challenge," he began. "Our challenge is insecurity. It is a strange ailment. That someone from another country for an ECOWAS meeting and died of Ebola does not mean Nigeria is not safe," he stated, adding that fear-mongering in the media was only making matters worse.

"To the extent we talk bad about Nigeria, to that same extent our name is destroyed," the cleric defiantly continued, bemoaning the name Nigeria was being given in the international community because of the news projected.

"This is a country under repair because of what Boko Haram has done to the nation. Don't damage it more. This nation is safe. If there is any challenge, we have what it takes to surmount it," he stated, calling on Nigerians to learn from the way Ghana protected the name of their nation.
Prophet Joshua preached that the two deaths recorded in Nigeria did not warrant a state of emergency as announced by by President Goodluck Jonathan. "All of this is propaganda," He stated.

"When a little thing happens, you exaggerate it because you are looking for funds. How much can the international community give to us that can redeem the name Nigeria we are soiling? A beggar always remains a beggar. Africa, stop begging – you have what it takes to solve your problems."

Joshua said he was saddened by the news that some African nations had closed their borders to the countries affected by the Ebola outbreak, stating that it destroys the purpose of African unity.

"What is the meaning of African unity? The wound of an African is the wound of all Africans. The wound of one is the wound of all. A nation that stands to solve the problem of other nations will become successful," he added.

"We should rise up and see the wound of others as our wound. Stand up to the occasion and help instead of closing your borders against your African brothers."

Joshua concluded that giving citizens proper education about the disease was important but the spread of the disease should not be maliciously exaggerated.

"That does not mean you should use it to destroy the name of Nigeria as if it is here. It's not! protection and prevention – that should be our assignment in Nigeria," he said.

Politics / Lagos Govt Seeks For Volunteers To Fight Ebola by gbolakpine(m): 1:11pm On Aug 09, 2014
Authorities in Lagos appealed Saturday for volunteers to help fight an outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in Nigerian’s megacity of over 20 million people after admitting they lacked medical personnel.

“We have a shortage of personnel. I won’t lie about that. And that is why we are asking for volunteers,” Lagos state health commissioner, Jide Idris, said on a live television programme.

The state of Lagos, which is home to Nigeria’s largest city, has recorded nine confirmed cases of Ebola, including two deaths. In its fight against the spread of the virus, Idris said that the state government was offering incentives to medical volunteers, including life insurance.

It is unclear if public sector doctors have resumed work across the country after the president of their union on Thursday announced the suspension of their pay strike which began on July 1. In the capital Abuja on Friday, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan declared efforts to control and contain Ebola in Nigeria a national emergency, his office said in a statement.

He also approved the immediate release of 1.9 billion naira ($11.6 million, 8.7 million euros) to fund measures against the spread of the virus. Among measures to be undertaken include setting up additional centres to isolate people with the virus, screening at the borders, tracing people exposed to the virus, and boosting public awareness.

Celebrities / Miley Cyrus Lets Fan Grap Her Boobs For $900 by gbolakpine(m): 7:17pm On Aug 08, 2014
The 21-year-old singer encouraged lucky fan David to put his hands over her breasts and pretend to kiss her during a photo opportunity after her gig on Friday, August 1, 2014 at New York’s Nassau Coliseum. David paid $900 for the ‘Bangerz’ tour meet-and-greet package, which doesn’t include a ticket to the show, and looked pretty happy with his up-close-and personal experience with the blonde beauty.

Meanwhile, Miley took advantage of her night off from her world tour earlier this week when she, along with her mother Tish entertained late-night drinkers at Sing Sing bar in New York with a number of performances. Miley’s karaoke trip came hours after she got new ink from her tattoo artist Bang Bang.

The ‘We Can’t Stop’ hitmaker had the famed artist etch a crescent moon on her left inner arm, while she then returned the favor and inked the design onto Bang Bang’s thumb. However, the inking session didn’t end there, as the singer also opted to pay homage to the Flaming Lips by having the words ‘Love Yer Brain’ – the title of a 1987 song by the psychedelic rockers – etched onto her right forearm....

Celebrities / Juliet Ibrahim Voices Out About Ebola Jokes! by gbolakpine(m): 1:29pm On Aug 08, 2014
Ghanaian actress Juliet Ibrahim took to social media to speak out on trending reports about the deadly Ebola virus.

Here's what she had to say...

"Seriously it’s sad how many are so ignorant and heartless.

Our brothers and sisters in neighboring countries are dying daily from a deadly viral disease that has no cure and could hit any one of us if we are not careful yet we have others senselessly waking up in d morning taking time off their jobless schedules to type rubbish and broadcast it!

Must every thing be a joke? Instead of us Africans sitting and trying to work on finding the cure we are joblessly spreading lies about salt water curing Ebola whilst waitin around for America to keep busy in their various labs finding a cure that I am very sure we the same Africans will pay for to get a hold of.

Smh! I am really highly disappointed in everyone sending silly bc’s and posting pictures mocking #ebola when der are people been shown on the news daily dying with their entire family. May God save us all but wise up people.
I am listening to radio and all I keep hearing is jokes about salt water and Ebola jokes like seriously!

Wtf! How heartless are these people, instead of using ur airwaves to educate the public these socalled radio personalities are spreading lies and joking with lies! Rubbish rubbish and u all know yourselves crucify me if u like but u all know I am speaking the truth . #endtimes indeed"

Romance / How To Love A Nigerian Woman by gbolakpine(m): 4:38pm On Aug 04, 2014
Like every other woman in the world, a Nigerian woman wants to love and more, be loved by the person she loves. She wants a man who will dote on her and make her feel like the only lucky girl on earth. Where most people think of her as a complicated person who is unsure of what she wants or is always attracted to only beautiful things, the Nigerian woman wants her man to love and respect for who she is and not what the society says she is. Listed below are some of the ways to love a Nigerian woman as she deserves:

1. BE ATTENTIVE: pay attention to everything about your woman. If not everything, almost everything. Remember her birthday, your anniversary, the little details about her. Let her know that you care deeply about everything she represents. She wants to know that her man is concerned about her and not just her body. Keep in mind that it is the little things that matter the most.

2. NO COMPARISON GAME: we are all unique and can never be like another person. Never ever compare her with an ex or your relationship with your friends’ or family member’s relationship. Comparing can make you really unhappy with your relationship. No one wins the comparison game, so do not play it. Base your relationship on the evaluation of what both of you need, not on the relative relationship success of those around you.

3. THE PAST IS NOT THE FUTURE: we all have a past; there is no one without a skeleton in his/her cupboard. Therefore, do not limit your relationship by your experiences or disappointments of the past. Your relationship history is not your future. Do not be afraid of starting all over and starting afresh too. Avoid taking your mistakes into your new relationship but learn from your mistakes so it won’t repeat itself. If she tells you her past, never criticize her. That is one of the fastest way to push a Nigerian girl away from you.

4. SHOW YOU CARE, EVEN WHEN IT’S HARD TO: conflicts and disagreements are part of every relationship and during those times, it is hard to show your partner that you love them. A nigerian girl wants to know her man cares for even at the most difficult times. It is vital to do something for her that shows her you really care about her; conflict or not. In fact, there is no better time to show your love to a nigerian girl than when you guys having a little disagreement.

5. BE RELIABLE: a nigerian girl need assurance that you will always do what you say you will do. A nigerian girl can only trust you or commit herself to you fully if you are always reliable. Do not just speak, make sure your words are tangible and meaningful. Say what you mean and do what you say you are going to do. Do not make empty promises you can’t keep. To love a nigerian woman, your word has to really be your bond.

6. BE ROMANTIC: we all want a bit of fairy tale in our relationships. Therefore, we want a man that can cook breakfast and bring it to us in bed. We want a guy that will pull his jacket off for us when we are cold. A nigerian girl wants to feel very special, so you have to be romantic. We love date nights too, it is not a white girl thing. Be prepared to do things to make her go gaga.

7. SPOIL HER SILLY: God knows where Davido found a girl that doesn’t want designer and ferrari; even guys can’t say no to flashy things. Nigerian girls want to be spoilt with the good things of life so buy your woman all the ferrari and the designer you can comfortably afford. Take her shopping when you can. Do things that will make her happy at all times and gifts definitely can do that.

8. RESPECT HER BOUNDARIES: we want a bit of privacy when it comes to certain things. Respect those things she terms as her boundaries. Do not force her to do what you want her to do and break her boundaries or you may come off as bossy. A nigerian woman wants to feel loved and not controlled.

For a nigerian woman, be the man that will complement her. Be a man to her out of bed and in bed; if you are sexually active. Satisfy her physically, sexually, financially (there is absolutely nothing wrong with that) and emotionally.

Health / Ebola: Health Specialist Says Nigeria Is Not Yet Safe by gbolakpine(m): 1:14pm On Aug 01, 2014
A Public Health Specialist, Simbo Davidson, says that Nigeria cannot yet categorically say that it has no cases of the Ebola virus disease in Nigeria.

Speaking on the Friday edition of Channels Television’s Sunrsie Daily, she said that the declaration of the health authorities that there had been no cases yet was as it concerned transmission via the entry, treatment and the death of a Liberian Ebola victim in Lagos for which several people had been screened for possible contact.

Therefore, there were still possibilities that other carriers of the virus might have entered the country through other means asides the airports which the authorities were focusing on, particularly through the country’s land borders that experience a lot of human traffic between the West African countries.

She highlighted the need to focus on providing screening facilities at Nigeria’s land borders, as it remained one of the most likely channels through which the virus could spread. She gave a reminder that body fluids like sweat could transmit the virus and this was highly possible through contacts as simple as sitting together in a bus.

On the view in some quarters that there had been too much panic as the outbreak might have been exaggerated, she disagreed, saying rather that Nigeria was actually underrating the virus, an act which she said was very dangerous.

Highlighting the possibility of under-reporting of the disease, she noted that the number of casualties represented that of reported cases only and this meant the situation could be worse as many victims do not get to the hospital before they die.

She cited the example of South-Africa and the outbreak of a similar disease in 2008. She recalled that the country did not wait to verify its discovery of a scientifically proven cure for the virus but went ahead to use it in order to save its citizens and the proactive decision turned out to be the solution.

She said that there was need for Nigeria to engage in better planning to control the spread of the disease, as there was need to have more screening and isolation centres in every Local Government Area.

There had been reports that the Ebola virus can be cured by the consumption of Kolanut, but Dr. Davidson dismissed the claims as she explained that there was no scientific evidence for the claim. She, however, noted that there had been advanced research into a possible anti-viral cure in a Helsinki University and she expected African countries to be more proactive to explore such opportunities as South Africa did.

She maintained that the strategies taken by many of the countries was not effective, explaining that the fact that it had started crossing borders showed a failure of their approach.

The actual origin of the Ebola virus also came to the fore and Dr. Davidson said that the actual source of the virus cannot be verified yet as many animals have been mentioned including monkeys and some rodents.

She also explained that trying to clear out the animals would be a wrong strategy to engage in controlling the disease, as there was no actual population of animals that can be gathered together and killed.

She noted that the Ebola virus cannot be likened to the Avian Flu that is transmitted by poultry animals which are usually together in a farm.

Dr. Davidson recommended improved hygiene and early testing for every symptom as one of the best ways to control the disease from spreading in Nigeria.

For the countries with already pronounced outbreaks, she provided a number of recommendations including a ban on parties, social gatherings or other situations that would gather several people together.

She also warned against unnecessary visits to the homes of people who had fallen sick as one might not know the actual nature of the illness. She added, “Let’s stop shaking hands if possible.”

Politics / "President Jonathan Is A Big Coward" - Asari Dokubo Speaks by gbolakpine(m): 8:51pm On Jul 31, 2014
Asari turned on his own man calling him Big Coward, not even a small or ordinary coward, Big One simply because President Jonthan said Nigeria would have boiled if Gen. Buhari had been killed in the Kaduna bomb blast.

The Ex Militant, Asari said he is not happy that Jonathan should say such a thing when there are many Nigerians who are killed by the day by the dreaded Islamic insurgent group, Boko Haram, wondering why Nigeria would be at war just because Buhari is involved.

Describing the President’s comment as unnecessary, Asari who has always supported the President's rule and has even vowed to wage a war if Jonathan fails to be re-elected next year, stated that placing the life of one Nigerian above the over 15,000 persons who have died through Boko Haram bomb attacks is very wrong and cowardly.

Hear the angry Asari Dokubo:

"I do not work for Jonathan. What the President said was wrong. The life of Buhari is not more important than 87 people that died in that blast and the 0ver 15,000 souls that have been wasted by Boko Haram."

"It is unfortunate that the President made such a statement. I wonder why the President will be promoting one person above other Nigerians."

"That statement from the President was very unfortunate. It is an act of cowardice for him to have said that. I still insist that he should not have made such a statement."

Do you agree with him?

Politics / Sierra Leone President Declares State Of Emergency Over Ebola by gbolakpine(m): 3:09pm On Jul 31, 2014
More news on the sudden outbreak of fast spreading virus a.k.a EBOLA as countries are taking drastic measures to curb the effect of the out break. In this course, Sierra Leone has declared a state of public emergency to tackle the worst ever outbreak of Ebola and will call in security forces to quarantine epicentres of the deadly virus, President Ernest Bai Koroma said in a statement.

The measures resembled a tough anti-Ebola package announced by neighbouring Liberia on Wednesday evening. Koroma announced he was cancelling a visit to Washington for a U.S.-Africa summit next week because of the crisis and would instead hold an emergency meeting with regional leaders in Guinea on Friday.

Highly infectious Ebola has been blamed for 672 deaths in the West Africa nations of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, according to the World Health Organization.

"I hereby proclaim a State of Public Emergency to enable us take a more robust approach to deal with the Ebola outbreak," he said in a speech late on Wednesday, adding that the measures would initially last between 60 and 90 days. "All epicenters of the disease will be quarantined."

Koroma said that the police and the military would restrict movements to and from epicenters, and would provide support to health officers and NGOs to do their work unhindered, following a number of attacks on health workers by local communities.

He said that house-to-house searches would be implemented to trace Ebola victims and quarantine them. He also said that new protocols had been established for passengers arriving and departing Lungi International Airport outside Freetown, but he did not provide further details

Politics / President Goodluck Jonathan's Eid-el-fitri Message To Nigerians by gbolakpine(m): 7:10am On Jul 27, 2014
Dear compatriots,

I felicitate with all Nigerians, especially our Muslim brothers and sisters on the auspicious occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitri celebrations .I congratulate all of our countrymen and women who have successfully undertaken the purifying Ramadan fast.
As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitri, it is my hope and prayer that Ramadan’s spiritual lessons and the Holy Prophet’s teachings of piety, love, justice, fairness, equity, peaceful co-existence with others, tolerance, honesty and dedication to duty will remain with us all for the benefit and greater glory of our dear nation .May the lessons and blessings of the Holy Month also permeate into us all, and positively influence our attitudes towards our fellow countrymen and women, irrespective of their religion or places of origin; and promote greater commitment to the peace, unity and stability of the nation.

Although the observance of the Holy Month was sadly tainted in parts of the country with the continuing atrocities of extremists and terrorists in our midst, I urge all patriotic Nigerians to remain strong and resolute in defence of freedom, unity, law and order, peace, security and progress of the nation.
I feel the pains and anguish of all our compatriots who have experienced the harrowing impact of terrorism unleashed on them by brainwashed and misguided agents of evil and disunity, but we must never throw up our hands in helplessness and despair as the terrorists and purveyors of anarchy want.
Going forward, let us all remain unwaveringly committed to showing solidarity with our Armed Forces and security agencies and giving them the full support they require to prosecute the war against terrorism to a successful conclusion.
I assure all Nigerians, once again, that we are totally committed to winning that war, putting the scourge of terrorism and insecurity rapidly behind us and giving the fullest possible attention to the urgent task of improving the living conditions of our people in all parts of the country.

We cannot and will not be deterred from our goal of positively transforming our nation into a strong, united, progressive, stable, secure and prosperous nation in which all citizens will live in peace in spite of our immense diversities.
May Almighty Allah continue to bless our nation and all who have successfully undertaken this year’s Ramadan Fast.

I wish you all happy and peaceful Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.

GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN, GCFR

President,

Federal Republic of Nigeria
